The electric full moon August 15

This month's full moon falls at 23 degrees of Aquarius and the lunar peak occurs at 8:29AM, EST August 15. The energy is building at the time of this post and will be very powerful August 14th, the day before. Aquarius is about originality, shocks, independence and freedom. It is also about equality and humanity in general.

Expect to see excitability, drama and erratic behavior and circumstances. The Moon opposes the Sun, Venus and Mars all in Leo. Don't be surprised if things if things don't get quite heated later in the day/evening with the Moon's opposition to Mars. The Moon involves women, our emotions and family members, and Mars rules anger, upset and men to name a few.

While the Leo planets are flashy if not demanding of attention, Aquarius is typically cool and detached. As Jupiter provides a trine to the Leo planets we can expect to see vanity and egos on full display that get blown out of proportion. Now is the time to try a new and different approach to something.

That said, with Jupiter's positive trine the time is now to have some last minute summer fun as this is the last time we will see these Leo planets for a year. When the planets shift into Virgo in a few days this will be a major change in energy.

As Jupiter has just turned direct, its square to Neptune is also very powerful. This can show up as an idealistic, dreamy time with an interest in spiritual or creative matters OR it can manifest as delusion, illusion and confusion. If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.

Mercury is square Uranus at 6 degrees of Leo/Taurus, and this becomes exact August 16. This becomes part of the full moon energy and is prone to unexpected events and changeability. It could manifest as unexpected news, changeability, computer problems, issues with communication or young people. It is especially important to be cautious while driving as Mercury rules cars. Stay focused. Also watch your communication and sending emails.

This will affect everyone with a Uranus transit at 5-7 degrees and if you were affected by the new moon August 1, this will affect you as well, more than other people.

On the world stage expect to hear issues around communication, technology or hackings, and/or aviation or transport problems or accidents. The collective will be stirred up and there will be an element of the individual versus the world view or world structures. We will hear news of young women, finance and scandals. We could hear more sudden if not explosive, volatile and unexpected news. Uranus typically inclines toward shocking events.

Jupiter turns direct!

Jupiter has spent been retrograde since April 10. It turns stationary direct August 11, at 14 degrees of Sagittarius.
Jupiter is the planet of gain and expansion and is in its own sign-Sagittarius.

Wherever Jupiter moves through your chart is where you can expect gain.
Jupiter retrograde is a time of philosophic or spiritual reflection and issues concerning growth could become front and center. As Jupiter retrogrades economic growth could slow down, overall.  Any cracks in the economy or your personal financial picture will show up during this time.
The retrograde of Jupiter is the time to step back and look at the bigger picture and how you will approach things. It does not necessarily mean loss, but is more akin to working smartly and directing your actions along the most profitable and fortuitous lines.
Many things are ruled by Jupiter In addition to money and finances Jupiter rules courts/judiciaries, (world view/political viewpoints),  lawyers, foreigners,  and foreign  places, education,  religion, medicine, and younger men. All of these things can shift as the planet of expansion turns direct, and we will see these matters play out in the world and our personal lives.
We may well experience a new burst of optimism over the next few weeks, especially with the Sun, Venus and Mercury in Leo. If Jupiter turns direct in your personal chart in a positive angle you can expect to see positive things happen depending on what it is aspecting.
Jupiter will remain in the expansive sign of Sagittarius until December 2, when it enters Capricorn.
Uranus turns retrograde
On the same day Uranus turns retrograde at 6 degrees of Taurus. It will remain retrograde until January 11, 2020 when it turns direct again at 2 degrees of Taurus.
Uranus is the awakener, pushing us to do those things we struggle to confront, sometimes through unexpected shocks. Hard Uranus transits are often seen in breakups, divorce, sudden endings and many other significant life events. Uranus rules change, sudden change, unexpected events, shocks, explosions, coups, electricity, the internet and electronic media and aircraft, revolutions, independence and coups. It co-rules the sign Aquarius along with Saturn.
During its retrograde we may have more objectivity or a more level approach to things. It gives a chance to look objectively at what needs to be changed.
If you are experiencing a hard aspect-square, opposition or conjunction in your chart, you could experience some type of jolt or unexpected event as Uranus retrogrades. If it is in a sextile or trine, change will be smoother and easier. Expect change with Uranus as it retrogrades if you have Fixed planets (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius) at 4-8 degrees in your chart.
As Uranus retrogrades it often co-insides with major events in the collective and the world. We could see a sudden and unexpected event, especially around the full Moon which is in Aquarius August 15. On August 16, Mercury in Leo will square Uranus (exact) at 6 degrees of Leo/Taurus. We could see events and issues connected with the internet, internet hacking or theft, aircraft, computers, accidents, young people, communication and sudden and unexpected news.

Nixon, Watergate, the major transits and 2019

US President Richard Nixon resigned August 9, 1974, 45 years ago this month. To this day, it is a pivotal point in US history, as Nixon was the only President thus far, to leave office under threat of impeachment. He resigned to avoid being impeached and removed from office.

His resignation stemmed from the Watergate burglary of the Democratic headquarters that took place June 17,1972 and his subsequent attempts at cover ups and obstruction.

The Watergate Scandal and details of it unfolded to the public over a two year period during which there was an investigation and many unexpected twists and turns.

Many planetary aspects came into play over the period while Nixon was investigated.  In the interest of brevity I am only going to talk about the most important ones, and key points in the Nixon investigation, as well and the similar transits affecting us in 2019-20.

I think it is significant to point out the corruption of the Nixon administration started before the Watergate burglary in 1972.

July 1, 1971, there was a memo written suggesting the formation of the White House plumbers a covert special investigations unit whose task was to stop or respond to the leaking of classified documents.

In August of that year 'Nixon's enemies list' was started by White House aides to use Federal resources to harm or discredit Nixon's political enemies.

At this time, Saturn had entered Gemini and began its opposition to Neptune in Sagittarius. Saturn seeks structure, control, regulations, law and order but Neptune is the planet of illusion, delusion, confusion and lies. It can encourage devious, underhanded and subversive and depressing tactics. As these planets clash smoke and mirror effects can occur. Neptune  rules religion and this combination can promote a type of paternalistic/ materialistic system.

(In 2015-16 Saturn in Sagittarius was square Neptune in Pisces-we now know that Russia hacked into the voting systems of all 50 states in the US and was responsible for influencing Facebook users with thousands of ads peddling propaganda and fake news stories. With a transit like this many can end up suffering from 'buyer's remorse so to speak. This is a period can usher in political changes and reforms, and these planets can dissolve whatever has become crystallized and stands as collective stability).

By early 1972, the Plumbers, were assigned to the Committee to Re-Elect the President, The Plumbers wanted more projects and apparently this started the train of events that led to the Watergate break-ins a few months later. This narrative was confirmed in the famous "Cancer on the Presidency" conversation between Nixon and White House Counsel John Dean on March 21, 1973.

By the time of the actual Watergate break in Saturn was still within an 8 degree orb of Neptune. Major transits like this influence events in the world over a large span of time, often years.

In 1973 Richard Nixon was a highly regarded president and won reelection in the largest landside in American history. The “Saturday Night Massacre” would change his popularity.

Saturn moved into the sign Cancer and was was square Pluto in Libra by July of 1973. This is the most significant transit of the time. Pluto represents power and control, abuse of power as well as the power of the masses, forces of elimination, totalitarian politics, fanaticism. "It can indicate a need to purge the body politic of old, deep rooted problems. Constellated in a leader it can awaken compulsive instincts for power and dominance."-Nicholas Champion

Saturn represents the rules and structures that we are all governed by. This transit became exact in September and October of that year. Saturn in Cancer is also significant on its own as the United States is a Cancer country. This Saturn cycle would be a time of testing in the US.

(At the time of this post we are under a Saturn-Pluto transit again. Saturn is conjunct Pluto in Capricorn and it becomes exact in January of 2020. It will involve the US Presidency and abuse of power among other things. Saturn-Pluto transits are also associated with war, crime, abuses and the darkest elements of human and collective nature. It can also represent repression, restriction and financial limitation and/or or extreme gain by the strongest in society. In 2019 we are experiencing  an increase in mass murders associated with the White Supremacy or White Nationalist movement and it is not limited to the US. The critical phase can lead to seeing things in black and white where only extreme measures will suffice. There is often a need in society to get 'back to the basics.')

One of the more significant moments that lead to the impeachment articles was on October 20, (1973) when Nixon ordered his Attorney General to fire the special prosecutor of the Watergate investigation, Archibald Cox. Cox had subpoenaed recordings from the White House that Nixon believed would incriminate him. The AG refused to fire Cox, as did his chief assistant, and resigned instead. Nixon continued on until he found someone down the line who would fire Cox, and this became known as the Saturday night massacre.

At this time the Saturn was square Pluto at 4 degrees of Cancer-Libra. Pluto was also squaring Venus and Jupiter in the US natal chart. Jupiter rules the legal system and laws.

By March of 1974, another significant transit occurred as Jupiter entered Pisces and squared Neptune in Sagittarius.  Pisces is ruled by Neptune the planet that distorts and confuses and was very powerful in its square with Neptune, one of its ruling planets. Neptune can be politically unrealistic and tied to devious methods. Jupiter expands whatever it touches, good or bad. This combination produces smoke and mirrors, lies and things are frequently not as they appear. Many people are scammed on a transit like this. This transit has an ideological quality to it. Religious belief systems often play a role in this period, or alternatively spiritual and metaphysical systems.  It precipitates actions to fight particular ideas, and can indicate an economy of boom or bust.

(Throughout the majority of 2019, Jupiter in Sagittarius is square Neptune now in Pisces In 2015-16 Jupiter in Virgo opposed Neptune in Pisces)

During July,1974 three articles of impeachment against Nixon were approved for obstruction of justice, abuse of power, and contempt of Congress.

Cox was replaced by Leon Jaworski, who became the second special prosecutor and the subpoena for the tapes from the Oval office stood.

After a major outcry On November 17, Nixon gave his famous speech, claiming "I am not a crook."

The White House tapes were released in July, 1974 implicating Nixon in the cover-up. At this point, there was no saving his Presidency.

Nixon resigned and left office rather than face impeachment on August 9, 1974.
On that infamous day Saturn was conjunct the Sun in the US natal chart at 13 degrees of Cancer. The Sun rules the President or highest government official.

(Saturn is currently in Capricorn the opposite sign of Cancer. During September 2019, Saturn will oppose the US Sun. It is highly possible there will be an impeachment inquiry when Congress re-convenes at that time. If not, the tides of the collective and the government will continue to turn against the 45th President. Saturn opposed the US Sun in January, 2019. At this time the US President came under heavy fire for shutting down the government. It was re-opened only when the FAA stated they could no longer guarantee flight safety. This will be another time of testing in the US.)

Saturn will conjunct Pluto in January 2020. The US will face a major crisis if not more than one and no doubt the US Presidency along with other major events in the world. This combination will continue through 2020 and the US will face what many politicians are calling a 'fight for the soul of the country.' This is the most volatile and restrictive transit since the last Pluto-Saturn conjunction which occurred in 1981-82 in Libra. Those years saw many global changes and the rise of AIDS. We have not seen Saturn-Pluto in Capricorn since 1517. That year German scholar Martin Luther disagreed with the Catholic Church and was eventually ex-communicated. Thus began the Protestant reformation, and the years of bloodshed that followed. If you are not familiar with this time, the Pope was the authority in Europe, both on a political and sometimes a military level. This was a significant event in history that changed the world. During 2020-21 America will also experience its Pluto return. Pluto was last in Capricorn at the time of the American revolution.

Three mass shootings and the astrology behind them

22 people were killed in El Paso August 3rd, and less than 13 hours later another mass shooting occurred leaving 9 people dead in Dayton, Ohio. The previous weekend, July 28, there was a mass shooting at a garlic festival in Gilroy, California that left 4 people dead. Numerous people have been injured, and the shooters in Gilroy and El Paso have been tied to White supremacist/white nationalist groups and that ideology. As of this post 35 souls have left this earth as a result of these three domestic terror attacks, making it a deadly week in America. This astrology is complex, and for the sake of brevity I will try and sum up the most significant transits.

First of all, we are in a difficult period as Saturn is conjunct Pluto in Capricorn. This is a dangerous and stressful time, and these two planets  become exact, January of 2020. The things we have seen since May- July will be amplified in January 2020 and I have come to the conclusion as I have watched the transits and the summer eclipses that if we do not get a grip on these groups and the number of weapons of war in the hands of those who are willing to kill, by January 2020 the problem (among other things) will be amplified to a crisis point. This is not only a problem in America but other countries as well.
Saturn-Pluto periods coincide with upheaval, crime, abuse of power, wars and attacks, and major global and geo-political changes. A transit like this occurs roughly every 38 years or so. This transit will continue to dominate the sky and in particular America's natal chart throughout 2020.
Saturn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn has not occurred since 1517. That year, German scholar Martin Luther disagreed with the Catholic Church and was eventually ex-communicated. Thus began the Lutheran Church and the Protestant reformation, and the years of bloodshed that followed. If you are not familiar with this time, the Pope was the authority in Europe, both on a political and sometimes a military level. This was a significant event in history that changed the world. America last experienced its Pluto return, or Pluto in Capricorn at the time of the American revolution.
America's natal chart
I use the Sibly chart for the US which has a Sagittarius ascendant. That means the second house is Capricorn and the 8th house is Cancer. Mercury lies in the 8th house. The 8th house rules death and national mortality, and Mercury rules speech and communication and young people.
The eclipses of July were significant falling in the 2nd and 8th houses. The lunar eclipse of July 16, (24 degrees in Capricorn) opposed the 8th house showing us we would hear of a significant death/deaths of significance. On July 16, former Supreme Court justice John Paul Stevens passed away at 99. As Mercury was also retrograde at that time, events connected to the eclipse could be delayed, and the energy of an eclipse is very powerful for the next month.
August 3rd, Mercury moved to 24 degrees of Cancer, setting off what is called the 'eclipse point' as it opposed Capricorn at 24 degrees, bringing up events that are connected to the eclipse. Mercury opposed Mercury in the 8th house of death in the US natal chart, showing us death connected to young people. The shooters are all young males.
Sun, Venus and the Moon
The week of July 28, was bound to be a difficult one. It started July 28, as the Sun squared Saturn and 4 people died when a mass shooter killed 4 people at a garlic festival in Gilroy, Tx. Sun-Uranus transits can relate to explosive circumstances including violence.
The New moon July 31, (supermoon) fell at 8 degrees of Leo, and it squared Uranus as well. Uranus often relates to explosive situations and violence.
Lastly, Venus squared Uranus August 3, the day before the two last mass shootings. Venus-Uranus also can coincide with market fluctuations and we have seen a significant drop in the stock market as well.
Mercury will square Uranus on August 16, on the heels of a full moon in Aquarius. We could see unexpected events again.
The timing of the Moon and the El Paso shootings
As news of the El Paso shooting was breaking on the networks, I glanced at the chart and saw the Moon in Virgo was opposing Neptune (in Pisces). Due to the moon placement I knew this shooting was probably carried out by someone with mental issue or who held or some type of ideology not supported by society, or both. As it turns out the shooter was concerned about an 'invasion' of immigrants coming through Texas. He left an essay on his beliefs before he carried out the shooting. We have seen this Moon placement before along with other significant aspects occurring in these types of attacks. The Moon opposes Neptune once a month, and this alone is not enough to be connected to a violent event, and it typically is not.
These are not all of the transits relating to these shootings, but they seem the most significant.
May the victims and the injured, their family and friends all find peace.

August 2019: 2 stelliums and Jupiter turns direct!

In August we will have a 2 stelliums (3 or more) of planets in Leo, then Virgo. The Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars will all be in Leo the earlier part of the month. Leo rules the 5th house of love, children, friends and entertainment and we can look for things to become overall lighter. Its time for some summer fun!

As the fast moving planets move into Virgo later in the month, life takes on a different tone and we will be focused more on work, fitness and diet. Virgo is much more detail oriented and can be considered pickier or more critical. School starts and its back to the salt mines, as they say.

Jupiter is the planet of money, expansion and gain and it turns direct on August 11, after a 4 month retrograde. Wherever Jupiter is in your personal chart is where your luck and gain will fall throughout the year. Jupiter is in Sagittarius until December, where it is at home and quite powerful. When it turns direct we can expect increased optimism, luck and in some cases money increases. It turns direct at 14 degrees of Sagittarius and those benefiting the most are of course, Sagittarius, Aries and Leo or those with planets in these signs. The Air signs can benefit as well:  Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius. If Jupiter turns direct on a planet in your personal chart, you can usually expect positive results, but of course it dependson what it is aspecting as Jupiter expands whatever it touches.

Mercury turns direct July 31, at 23 degrees of Cancer after three weeks of retrograding through both Leo and Cancer. It will not begin to move forward until August 3rd. This is called the stationary direct period and during these few days we can experience more glitches, breakdowns, delays and action and projects we are working on can change once again. It will remain in Cancer through the 11th and then enters Leo for the second time. Mercury has a shadow period where things are still straightening out and not quite normal and this will end August 15. After this, its full steam ahead!

Uranus turns retrograde August 11, at 6 degrees of Taurus.
Sudden change can occur at this time, especially if this is aspecting your personal chart. There could be breakups, endings of all sorts, and surprise types of change. Uranus is the planet associated with freedom and the next week or so will be critical. As Uranus turns retrograde we typically see changes play out on the world stage, and they can be dramatic.

Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury and is considered the planet of revolution, technology  and revolts as well as new ideas and innovations. Uranus also rules earthquakes, weather, aircraft change and unexpected or explosive events.

Love forecast for August
As we begin the month, the Sun, Venus and Mars are all in Leo and will soon be joined by Mercury. Venus and Mars are the day to day significators of our love life and when they are in the same sign together, this becomes a significant time and your chances can increase for meeting new people. This month, both planets will be in Leo through August 16. This will work well for Leo, who should feel extra dazzling as well as Aries, who will have Mars and Venus moving through their 5th house of love. As this is a prime opportunity make the most of it. Sagittarius can also benefit as well as Gemini, Libra and Aquarius or those with planets in these signs.

August 21, both Mars and Venus enter Virgo for the rest of the month. This works well for Virgo, who should feel extra special as well as Capricorn and especially Taurus. Others who can benefit in the love department include Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.  It's not every day Venus and Mars transit through the same sign and these two will be in Virgo through September 13.
Full Moon in Aquarius
This month's full moon falls at 22 degrees of Aquarius August 15, and the lunar peak is at 8: 29 AM. Aquarius rules the 11th house of the collective, friends, groups and hopes and wishes. Aquarius  is rules by Uranus and Saturn so we may see some unexpected events.
This Moon opposes the Sun, Venus and Mars. Moon-Venus is typically lighthearted but as it also opposes Mars emotions can escalate and tempers can flare. The Sun conjunct Venus however, is indicative of love, romance and good times and we will feel a desire to be with others.

The Moon in Aquarius has a strong desire for freedom and does not like to be smothered. Being in groups of people as opposed to one on one, may serve a positive purpose at this time and could work well.
Other transits of importance in August:
August 2, Venus squares Uranus-Change can occur in love and money. You could feel compelled to try something different today and unexpected events can occur. Freedom can be a theme.

August 6, the Sun trines Jupiter-This is a basically positive and outgoing transit positive for anything involving money, groups, meetings or social affairs.

August 8, Venus trines Jupiter-Positive for love, money, getting together with friends or anything of the sort. Don't overdo things.

August 11, Mercury enters Leo-Communication changes once again. This is Mercury's second pass through Leo since the retrograde. Communication becomes bolder and more direct as opposed to emotional as it was in Cancer.

August 13, The Sun conjuncts Venus. This happens once a year and is positive for love, social activity and finance.

August 16, Mercury squares Uranus. This is prone to changeability and sudden and unexpected news and events. Use caution while driving.

August 18, Mars enters Virgo. Mars in this sign is very detail oriented and we can expect action to change, People will be more focused on work and health, and can come across as being critical or picky.

August 21, Venus enters Virgo. Love energy changes, benefiting Earth signs and some will become pickier in love and romance. Mercury trines Jupiter and this is optimistic and positive.

August 23, the Sun enters Virgo and we are now in the Virgo season.

August 24, Venus conjuncts Mars and sparks can fly between the sexes one way or another. This can indicate an attraction but let time determine if it is based on more than sexual attraction.

August 26, Venus trines Uranus. Look for the unexpected today in love and money. This can be a positive but changeable day.

August 28, Mars trines Uranus. Action can take unexpected turns in a positive way. You may try something different.

August 29, Mercury enters Virgo. Communication changes and becomes more detail oriented if not grounded. Some may seem overly critical.

The Sun trines Uranus, and this can bring about sudden change changes, or unexpected events typically of a positive nature.

The Sun, Moon and Venus square Uranus: Unpredictability and change!

We have a some changeable  days ahead and the more your plans are set in stone the more disruptive this will be. The more stable your life is the less changeable it will be, but as always it depends what is in your personal chart at the time. Uranus is involved, and this is the planet of unexpected change.

Uranus rules freedom, changeability, unexpected twists and turns, electricity, aircraft, and explosive and unexpected circumstances to name a few.

The Sun is now moving into its square with Uranus and this becomes exact the evening of July 29. This will be followed by a New moon at 8 degrees of Leo that will square Uranus July 31, and Venus squares Uranus August 2. The energy will play out in the few days before and after these dates.

Sun square Uranus (July 29) is a transit that should demand our attention as Uranus is the planet of sudden and unexpected change. You will be especially affected by this transit if you have a Leo, Taurus, Scorpio or Aquarius Sun at 5-7 degrees, or if you have other planets in your chart at these degrees. If you don't know consult a competent astrologer.

This is not the time to get into unstable or risky situations. At this time some things, as well as relationships can suddenly end or change. If you meet someone, romantic or otherwise, don't jump to conclusions no matter how attractive the person or situation appears, and let time be the judge. Uranus has a habit of bringing things in that leave as quickly as they came. Also, as Mercury turns direct August 31, there can be confusion and things in general cha change again.
It is important to drive defensively as people may be prone to making sudden moves as the energy is so changeable and some will act on sudden impulse.

For some, this can represent a major event or sudden change, and for others it may be as simple as changing your mind what you are going to do for the day. Either way, we are all under this powerful, changeable and erratic energy, but do not assume the worst. Sometimes change is positive and Uranus likes to shake us out of a rut.

Many people will experience this transit through other people who make changes.

Moon-Uranus (July 31) energy is also erratic and changeable. The Moon rules women and our emotions, and some may feel their emotions are all over the board and prone to sudden changes of mind on many matters. This can produce erratic and unstable interaction with women or family members.

Venus/Uranus (August 2) rules young women, values and money and is the planet associated with love, so relationships can change at this time for better or worse.  This can indicate breakups, sudden unstable romantic infatuations, excessive pursuit of pleasure or unexpected financial or social difficulties.

In the world we can expect to see these transits play out with unexpected events and as we are still in the eclipse season some of the events could be explosive or shocking. Uranus can represent airplane crashes, earthquakes or unexpected weather conditions, explosions, electrical or internet problems or hacks, and at its worst violence.

Venus-Uranus can coincide with unpredictability in the financial markets.  We will certainly hear news concerning women, scandals or both.

While the energy will be very high if not erratic there is no reason to expect to be caught up in any kind of a disaster, but it is important to be aware and plan your activities and interactions with others accordingly.

Venus opposes Pluto: Desires, obsessions and compulsions

It's been a rough week for many with the powerful eclipse in Capricorn and Venus's opposition to Saturn. I would love to say things are going to lighten up but we have another challenging transit this weekend as Venus opposes Pluto.

This transit is exact in the early morning hours of July 21, so expect this energy to begin to really play out by July 19-20. It's energy will be with us at least another 48 hours after it is exact.

You could feel instantly drawn to someone in a compelling or mysterious manner, but there could be something inappropriate about the relationship, or it could be based purely on physical attraction..

Under this transit some relationships and situations will end. Others, with work, could be transformed in some way, but the path will not be an easy one.

Pluto is an obsessive planet and its nature is to push, dig and in some cases bully. We could hear of domestic violence or abuse. Venus rules women and this combination typically brings news concerning women. We could hear of scandals or issues involving sex or sex trafficking. At the time of this post convicted pedophile Jeffery Epstein has been denied bail.

Venus rules love, money and values, and Pluto rules sex, obsessions, bullies, jealousy and the darker emotions, as well as transformation of all kinds. It could relate to obscure dramas, endings, indiscretions, compulsions, irrational behavior, emotional meltdowns, manipulation and issues over sex or money. It is important to control your thinking/emotions as to not go down a dark rabbit hole that would be hard to get out of. You or someone else could become suspicious, controlling or manipulative.

Venus is transiting through Cancer, the ruler of the 4th house of home and family and Cancer is concerned with home and family, security and feelings.

As Venus is in Cancer this could involve situations that include family members, and with Pluto in Capricorn it  could involve business relationships, or any other type of relationship, not limited to romantic ones.
In the world expect this to play out in terms of news relating to women, money, scandals and abuse of power. We could hear news of those considered, 'open enemies' to the US.

This will affect those with Cardinal planets ( Aries, Libra, Cancer, Capricorn) at 20-23 degrees. If the Sun's opposition to Pluto was significant to you July 13/14th this one will have an affect as well.

Powerful lunar eclipse in Capricorn: Change comes, ready or not!

The second eclipse of the season falls at 24 degrees of Capricorn, July 16. This is a partial lunar eclipse and the lunar peak occurs at 5:38 PM, CST. This eclipse cannot be seen in the US, but it is visible in Australia, Africa, South America, most of Europe, and Asia.

The planetary ruler of Capricorn is Saturn known as the task master and Saturn rules our structures, discipline and time. Saturn can relate to great wealth or great privation.

Capricorn is a disciplined and focused sign and rules buildings, building things, the earth, carpenters, banking, big business, cemetery workers, chiropractors, civil engineers, contractors, government officials or service, employers, masonry, time keepers, osteopaths, orthopedists, politicians, sculptors, ice businesses, economists, dentistry, landlords, routine workers, watchmakers, night watchmen to name a few.

A lunar eclipse in this sign and degree occurred July 2000, so if you are old enough to remember this, you have a clue as to how this eclipse will affect you.

As Mercury is retrograde, events connected to this eclipse may occur now or later as a retrograde Mercury can delay. This energy will be intense for the next 30 days. Further events connected to this event can occur in January 2020, when Saturn hits the eclipse point.

This eclipse is in a Cardinal sign which means action or movement. The term cardinal is derived from a Latin word that means important. This eclipse falls on the 10th-4th axis, which relates to business and priorities, home and our basic structures and foundations in life,  security and emotions. For some, intense emotional reactions and compulsive behavior can lead to a crisis state, or this could be experienced through others.
In relationships you could experience jealousy, compulsions, compulsive behavior, manipulation, coercion and at worst volatility or violence if those tendencies exit already. At this time some relationships must end or change.

The eclipse is conjunct Pluto and Saturn, setting off the Saturn-Pluto conjunction that will dominate the skies between now and 2020. We will see major events in our lives and on the world stage. Moon-Pluto transits relate to things and situations that can be revealed, power struggles and the abuse of power, bullies, sex and money. The moon rules the Mother and women. Issues related to family and early childhood or childhood conditioning  can be experienced at this time. Some will feel the urge to dominate and control situations and other people.

Pluto transits often reveal the dark or shadow side of our personalities and can generate deep seated fear, obsessions and sometimes a desire to control out of fear of being controlled. This may dredge up past situations, revelations, issues from the past, and long ago deeply felt hurts that still reside in the subconscious mind. Things may happen at this time that are beyond our ability to control.

You could find yourself in a power struggle with someone else and it is important to consider the question: Is it someone else that is the problem, or some type of internal deeply felt situation or desire within yourself?  Some will experience a crisis of self-confidence.

The positive side of this is change that can occur on a very deep level. Now is the time to purge your mind and life of negative habits and patterns of thinking that tie you down and to the past and old programming that is no longer beneficial to your life and growth. The tendency my be to try and repress or block that which seems frightening, but it is actually an opportunity to let go of these thoughts, ideas and compulsions. Deep change is possible.

Venus is opposing Saturn at 16 degrees of Cancer-Capricorn and is exact in the early morning hours of July 17. This becomes part of the eclipse energy and relationship issues can occur involving love and emotions, money and young women in particular along with personal  values.

You may feel emotionally stymied, cold, or others may seem cold and it may be hard to express yourself. Guilt, loneliness and self-pity or conflicts with close partners can occur as a result of this or you could feel undeserving. It is important to remember if these feelings occur, they should not be taken seriously and this is a short lived transit. Situations and people who make you feel like this should be released if this is their long term effect. Money or financial matters may come to the forefront as well. What do I value most, can be a relevant question at this time.

You can use this energy to purge your life and mind of situations that are no longer viable or in your best interest as Pluto is the ultimate planet of change and regeneration. It may not be easy, but could lead to a new, transformed and better future and outlook on life. Let go of that which does not work and you will experience a re-birth, as this is the nature of Pluto.
This powerful eclipse will affect us on a personal and global level. Moon-Pluto deals with Motherhood and early conditioning,  women and long held views of women, sexuality and that which society considers appropriate and not appropriate, such as taboos. Families and family values are a topic likely to be front and center.  Expect more news related to sex, sex trafficking, women's issues, those who desire to control and manipulate women's issues. Pluto deals with the darker side of power, absolute power and control, crime, abuse and destruction. Government upheaval is a Plutonian example of the type of change Pluto brings, along with terrorism and it rules drug lords and crime organizations.

In the US chart this eclipse falls in the 8th house and is conjunct Mercury the planet of communication, speech and publishing.  The eighth house rules international finance, multi-national companies, death, public mortality, national death and re-birth. Mercury rules all communication, travel, and young people, power and control.  We will see major news stories relating to these matters and potential attempts to limit the free press, and freedom of speech could also become an issue. Pluto and Mercury rule the press. As this eclipse will oppose Pluto (in the US chart), emotions in the US will be intense and we can hear news of crime, violence, power struggles, corruption, and abuse of power. There could be questions about what constitutes the government's authority and reach. We could hear of a significant (public) death within the next month and finances and financial markets could be of concern. Earth related issues may be obvious at this time and Pluto also rules Nuclear energy and weapons as well as buildings and structures.

Venus will conjunct the North node in Cancer and opposes Saturn.  On the world stage we will see a crisis involving girls and young women that  relates to the past. Ideas, opinions and values in relationship to women will come to the forefront at this time offering an opportunity to change what needs to be changed within society.  Money and values can also come into question, especially societal values that are no longer appropriate.

This will be a stressful and intense time, and it important not to act on impulses. With Pluto there is often destruction or change of what exists but it an opportunity for a beautiful re-birth that can lead to a positive and rewarding future.

July 2019: The summer of our discontent

In July, we have a powerful solar and lunar eclipse, Mercury retrogrades through two signs, bringing a total of half the planets retrograde. This will slow things down so we review what we have accomplished this year and make appropriate changes and alterations. Saturn will continue to sextile Neptune allowing us to view things in a realistic and practical manner so that we have an opportunity to accomplish and bring some long held hopes and dreams to reality.

More Cardinal oppositions this month
Mercury, the Sun and Venus will be in Cancer, and before the month is over they will form an opposition to  Saturn and Pluto, setting off the powerful Saturn-Pluto conjunction bringing major change in the world and our personal lives.

Solar and Lunar eclipses
The solar and lunar eclipses are in the signs Cancer and Capricorn. Cancer is all about the emotions, home or the homeland and is the most emotional and patriotic of signs, while Capricorn rules the 10th house of business and priorities.

July's total solar eclipse falls at 10 degrees of Cancer on July 2, with the lunar peak at 3:16 PM, EST. This eclipse is positive for bringing people together and of course it falls just before the Fourth of July in the US. The energy of a solar eclipse lasts about 6 months. The last time an eclipse occurred in this sign and degree was July 1, 2000. If you are old enough to remember this period you could have a clue as to what this eclipse will do for you.

The solar eclipse will not be visible from the United States, but can be seen from parts of Chile and South America. The Capricorn eclipse, is visible from Australia, Africa, South America, most of Europe and Asia. It will miss North America, except for the very southern and eastern parts of the continent.

Eclipses can bring positive or negative events depending on what it aspects in your chart. Things can be eclipsed in or out of your life, and eclipses frequently bring surprises and change.

A solar eclipse is like a super-charged New Moon, and this Moon makes a minor sextile to Uranus, showing us the way to look at many things in a new way. As Mars is at 0 degrees of Leo, expect some drama or people acting in a dramatic manner.

Mercury retrogrades
Mercury turns stationary retrograde July 7, at 4 degrees of Leo and it doesn't turn direct until August 2, at 23 degrees of Cancer. Typically the most obvious periods of the retrograde are at the beginning and the end of the cycle when Mercurial energy clearly changes. The stationary retrograde period will last through July 11, and the retrograde affects become obvious at this time as we experience changes, glitches and slowdowns in projects.

Retrograde Mercury is typically associated with breakdowns of communication and technology, delays and throwing business projects into a state of flux or change. Sometime important matters are revealed or situations end. You may think of the past and at times reconnect with those from the past. During this period it is advisable to not sign important documents, buy real estate or big ticket items, have cosmetic surgery or get engaged or married.

Mercury, Mars and Uranus
As Mercury turns retrograde it squares Uranus (with a 2 degree orb) bringing about unexpected changes and events July 5-12. The week of July 7, is significant as Mercury conjuncts Mars (July 8-9) and July 11-12 Mars squares Uranus. Mercury-Mars is agitating and could be dangerous for travel and Mars square Uranus is explosive and brings unexpected events.

July 20, Mercury retrogrades back into Cancer and Mercurial energy switches from dramatic to emotional. During this phase of the retrograde we will be more concerned with home, family and our emotional lives. People will speak and act in a more emotional manner.

A powerful lunar eclipse
The lunar eclipse falls on July 16, at 24 degrees of Capricorn and the lunar peak is at 5:38PM, EST. The last eclipse of this sign and degree occurred on July 16, 2000.

This eclipse will set off the powerful Pluto-Saturn conjunction and we will see major events in the world and our lives especially if you have planets in your chart at 23-25 degrees of Cancer, Capricorn, Aries or Libra

This lunar eclipse will be far more intense than the solar eclipse as the Moon will conjunct Pluto. This can bring up deeply seated emotions and obsessions that can seem overwhelming. Emotional relationships may experience manipulation, guilt, jealousy or in extreme cases, violence.

During a lunar eclipse as the blotting out of the moon can represent a time of resetting your emotions and emotional life. As this Moon is conjunct Pluto it will represent dramatic change in society and our lives, and many dark secrets can be revealed, as Pluto rules sex, money, manipulation and those who try and force their will on others. Issues with or connected to women and sexuality may arise or it can pit feminism against male patriarchy.
Sun opposing Pluto can relate to a turning point, power struggle, end, breakdown or change. This could be related to self-esteem, anger or obsessive behavior, ultimatums or self destructive behavior that could include addictions. It will be important to find a way to transcend negative behaviors at this time. Events connected to this transit can also relate to breakdown of machinery, theft and violence so caution is urged.

Venus opposite Saturn is not a positive omen for relationships at this time, and those involvements tottering on the edge can break up or end. That said with Saturn trine Neptune it is possible for something positive to come from the Pluto contact, as Pluto brings change and regeneration.

Other transits of interest in July:
