February astrology and the US Pluto return

We may as well say February is actually the real start of 2022! In January Venus was finishing up its 6 week retrograde and did not go direct until January 29th, and Mercury finally goes direct after its first retrograde of the year on February 3rd.  If things were dragging in January, they won’t be in February because after February 4th, all planets are direct for the next several months. This means we can accomplish a great deal without feeling so bogged down.

The Capricorn stellium (3 or more planets) will continue to exert a lot of energy in conservative Capricorn with Venus, Mercury, Mars and Pluto all in this sign. Venus will begin to move forward again after a 6 week retrograde, having turned direct January 29th. The Sun will transit through Aquarius and enter Pisces; the final sign of winter (can’t be too soon)! Mercury will leave Capricorn for Aquarius the 2nd time, and Saturn will hit its halfway mark in Aquarius. Jupiter will sextile Uranus bringing about an energy of excitement and new ideas and ways of approaching things.

We will experience a New Moon in Aquarius on February 1st, and Februarys’ full moon will fall in dramatic Leo on February 16th.

Most importantly the US will enter its first ever Pluto return. This means that Pluto will return to the place in the US chart during the birth of the nation in 1776 when the US severed its ties with England. Pluto signifies destruction, crime, the darker side of the psyche, regeneration, corruption, power struggles and ultimately some type of rebirth.

The US Pluto return

Astrologers have been watching and waiting for this powerful aspect for years if not decades. The US will experience its Pluto return three times in 2022 including February 22nd, July 11th, and December 28th, and yes, countries have birth charts just like people. While these represent the dates this powerful transit is exact, the energy will be with is throughout 2022 and into 2023. This aspect will determine the future and the direction of the US for many years to come.

Pluto rules that which lies beneath the surface which will now come to the top and make itself known.  It rules power, control, decay and destruction, nuclear power, upheaval of governments, terrorists and criminals. No country or society will experience a Pluto return before approximately 225 years which is how long it generally takes Pluto to circle the zodiac. It took Pluto 246 years to reach its Pluto return this year in the US chart.

Pluto is known for tearing down and destroying to create something new. Power can be unlocked, taken, abused and mishandled. It can also be relinquished at some point. Pluto rules the shadow side of things and the darkness that lies beneath the surface of what is generally seen and known.

Pluto falls at 27 degrees of Capricorn in the US Sibly chart in the 2nd house which rules money, finances and values. Capricorn represents the status quo, business, banks and the like. The US Saturn falls in the 10th house of the US chart.

In mundane, or world astrology Saturn in the 10th house represents the Government and leadership of the country. At the time of this post, a majority of Republicans (according to polls) say they believe the Presidential election was stolen. The fringe groups and white supremacists are making a great deal of noise and coming out of the shadows. The Republican Party of today has no focus other than to obstruct President Biden according to the words of the Senate majority leader, and the Democratic Party is being held hostage by two Senators. The January 6th committee is uncovering a great deal of information about corruption and those who tried to overturn the election through a coup and a former Speaker of the House is calling for those investigating the Capital insurrection to be jailed. Along with Covid we are experiencing a dysfunctional government, significant supply chain issues and inflation and a major attempt at voter suppression. Add to this increasing climate change and a potential war in Eastern Europe

Some mature countries have experienced a Pluto return such as England which has experienced three Pluto return cycles with significant events at each return. On the other hand Rome began to fail as an empire shortly after its 2nd Pluto return or 500 years.

The US is due for a cosmic makeover during 2022 through its Pluto return.  We are at a turning point in history, and what the outcome will be depends on us.

The Pluto return will certainly not be just one event but many. We will be dealing with all of the events just mentioned and potentially more. Democracy could fall at this time, or it could survive. Either way, over the next few years the US as a nation will be reborn based on where the collective places its true values.

The New moon in Aquarius

This month’s new moon falls at 12 degrees of Aquarius February 1st. Aquarius is associated with the 11th house of the collective so we will be busy interacting with others as well as various groups. Aquarius is considered the most humanitarian of signs and we may be focused on events that affect us all.

This moon conjuncts Saturn. Saturn is the planet of limitation, work, obligations and responsibilities. It is also associated with building things so now is the time to focus on work and obligations and much can be accomplished.

This moon also squares Uranus. We can expect unexpected events, twists and turns to occur at this time both on the world stage and in our personal lives, especially since Mercury is still retrograde. It is hard to know what to expect with Uranus, but it may cause disruptions, change, nervousness and irritability as well as separations. If you have been waiting to make a major change of some sort, Uranus is associated with breaking away and freedom. Uranus is typically the planet seen in divorce, breakups, rebellions and coups. The more positive side of this aspect can give us the ability to look at things from a different perspective and approach things from a new if not more enlightened manner.

Mercury conjunct Pluto was exact on January 28th, but is still within orb of this conjunction at the time of the New moon. Mercury-Pluto aspects tend to cause us to dig beneath the surface when looking for answers. It is a transit prone toward irritation, arguments, revelations and propaganda. Someone could attempt to force their will upon you or vice versa. Sometimes when Mercury is retrograde events connected with a new or full moon can be delayed by a few days.

The planet of love is direct

Venus reaches its retrograde station January 29th, and turns direct just after midnight on the East Coast. The retrograde station means the planet has turned direct but it typically takes a few days for the energy to adjust as Venus wakes up from its 6 week sleep.  Venus’s retrograde station lasts until February 5th, when it begins to move forward once again. During this time energy may change once again, something else may be revealed that was previously unknown, or there could be something or someone you change your mind about.

While Venus is retrograde its outward energy is weaker. During this time it is not uncommon for breakups to occur or a lot of contemplation can take place concerning love, and money or even our own personal as well as collective values. It is a perfect time to reassess what your real values are, and what you really need to be happy. Clarity in relationships can also increase when Venus turns direct.

When Venus turns direct it is time to turn your focus toward love, money, beauty and the more sensual side of life as the planet of love comes out of its deep slumber. Venus retrogrades to allow us to rest, take some time and review our loves and life and integrate and understand our feelings about loving others and living in the material world. When she wakes up she comes alive and allows us once again to revel being in the physical body and loving others, becoming the beacon of love, hope and beauty. Venus will remain in its retrograde shadow period, and during this time if there have been issues they should resolve. The retrograde shadow period for Venus ends March 1st and from here its full steam ahead.

During February Venus and Mars are both in Capricorn. At this time Capricorn and other Earth signs have the potential to meet someone significant. If Venus turns direct on a planet in your chart you can expect to experience some type of personal gain at this time.

Mercury turns direct

Mercury finally turns direct February 3rd at 11: 13PM on the East coast. At this point it is considered in its retrograde station. Yes, it is direct, but things can change once again, or still get screwed up for a few more days as Mercury comes back to its direct state. It is advisable not to sign contracts, buy high ticket items or make major changes for a few more days. By February 8th Mercury begins to move forward once again. It will remain in its shadow period where things gradually get back to normal until February 25th when it hits Aquarius at 11 degrees where it turned retrograde.

February 4th, the Sun conjuncts Saturn. This can be negative, tiring and seem overly serious. It can however, represent a time to start to build something or begin working on new ventures. This can often be a significant day in the world, as well as being associated with many responsibilities. Extra work may be needed to move forward.

Mars also sextiles Jupiter and this is a positive transit that is typically involved in taking action and with Jupiter involved it can be expansive in some manner. With the two above mentioned transits it’s time to get moving and get things done.

February 8th, another positive aspect occurs as Mars trines Uranus over the next few days. Now is a time to look at new ways of approaching things. This should happen in an easy manner, or you could experience a type of unexpected benefit depending on where this falls in your chart. Uranus is known for brilliant ideas and cutting edge technology.

February 11th, Mercury conjuncts Pluto for the final time. This occurred December 29th-30th, and again January 29th. This aspect leans toward being deeply suspicious, or digging for information. It can have an obsessive nature to it, and it may be difficult to let go of certain thoughts at this time. It also is related to arguments, accidents and propaganda.

Mercury re-enters Aquarius

February 14th, Mercury enters Aquarius for the second time due to its retrograde. While Mercury was retrograde most of January, its transit was cut short when Mercury re-entered Capricorn.

Mercury rules our mind, thinking, and the way we communicate with others and process information.. During Mercury’s transit through Aquarius we may all be a little more open minded and receptive to new ideas than normal.

Aquarius is known for its quirky, wild and weird side as well as its intellectual, inventive and eccentric nature. The sign Aquarius is associated with the 11th house of astrology which rules the collective, as well as groups and organizations. The planetary rulers of Aquarius are Saturn and Uranus.

Uranus rules new concepts and ideas and with Mercury in this sign you may be able to expand your ideas and approaches and come up with more original ways of focusing on projects or work. In this way you may be able to benefit from Mercury’s transit through this most intellectual and logical of signs. Go bold this month as Uranus is known for innovative concepts that are frequently ahead of their time. Uranus-Aquarius is associated with concepts that may seem off the grid but later resulting in future norms. Don’t be afraid to try out your ideas within your group or team, as Mercury-Aquarius works well if not best within groups and the collective.

Mercury will remain in Aquarius until March 10th when it enters Pisces.

February 16th, Venus conjuncts Mars but the energy will manifest before and after this date by a few days. Venus and Mars are the rulers of our love lives and both are conjunct, or in terms of those not well versed in astrology, they are side by side or together. When Venus and Mars are together romantic sparks can fly and this can be exciting to the senses. Both Venus and Mars are in Capricorn which leans toward a type of earthy sensuality, and is more prone toward a committed type of relationship than fling, or slow and steady growth in this direction.

This can create a desire for romantic fulfillment and a sexy type of energy can capture or pull at your heart strings. The only thing to remember about this aspect is that sexual attraction alone does not necessarily imply compatibility or a lasting relationship.

February full moon on February 16th

February’s full moon falls in the sign Leo which is associated with drama, royalty, fun and pleasure. It rules the 5th house of love, friends and children.

At this time you may want to impress others, update your hair or wardrobe or anything else that may draw attention. You may feel as though you have been held back in some way and want to get out and roar. With Mars conjunct Venus you may also want to connect with others, your significant other if you have one, or if you are single you may be looking for love at this time.

The downside to a Leo full moon is that some may feel overly sensitive or unappreciated. It is important to be careful about offending others even inadvertently. The downside to Leo is its desire for constant attention. If this is not fulfilled, Leo can turn the tables and walk away. This is also a sign that does not like personal criticism.

Jupiter sextiles Uranus

This aspect is exact on February 17th and within an orb of influence January 3rd through the end of May. (Orb of influence means we will feel the energy of this aspect, even though it is not ‘exact.’)

This aspect is indicative of new, exciting ways of doing things, new opportunities and brings potential for financial gain. We could see new technology, drugs and any number of exciting new inventions or ideas in the world. Uranus rules air and spacecraft and the Moon landing in 1969 occurred under a Jupiter-Uranus influence.

Opportunities may arise out of the blue, and you may sense a change in fortune in your life for the better which could well occur at this time. You may feel more creative, brilliant and ready for big change at this time. If Uranus and Jupiter aspect something in your personal chart you may indeed experience a significant advancement or opportunity.

Jupiter is also involve education, medicine, legal matters and the law, philosophy or religion. We may see new ideas come to fruition for the benefit of mankind. This aspect indicative of new growth on many levels.

 The Pisces season

The Sun enters Pisces February 17th where it will remain until March 20th.

Pisces is the final sign in the zodiac that rules the 12th house connected to endings, places of seclusion and the unconscious mind. This part of the zodiac is considered the realm of the unknown that also relates to things like secrets, dreams and magic.  At times this house can represent secret enemies or clandestine affairs or relationships that remain secret and hidden.

Pisces is a sensitive water sign, whose planetary rulers are Jupiter and Neptune. Jupiter is the planet of gain and expansion and Neptune rules the oceans, intuition, psychics, dreams, drugs or alcohol, spirituality, and lies or deception along with self-deception. Neptune can represent beautiful dreams and inspiration or it can cause you to sink to the lowest of emotional depths. This is represented by the Pisces image which depicts two fish swimming in opposite directions.

When we enter the Pisces season get ready to feel more, be more emotional, and dream bigger. You may feel more intuitive, creative and tuned in to others. You become more interested in movies and art, or anything that can allow you to escape reality for the moment. Now will be the time to go with the flow and perhaps not follow a rigid schedule because like water, Pisces like to flow at its own pace.

Compassion is a Pisces trait and you may feel more of this for others, or you could even become engaged in a cause you feel strongly about over the next month. Pisces typically have a way of calming and helping others in moments of crisis, and these individual have a tender and helpful spirit.

With the Pisces connection to the last part of the zodiac or the twelfth house some things may end during this time, or you could be wrapping up certain projects in preparation of new ones. Pisces is also the final sign of the winter months just before we enter Aries and spring.

On the downside, Pisces can represent confusion, illusion and delusion as Neptune is one if it’s rulers. Communication may be misunderstood, not conveyed correctly some may be much more indecisive than usual. You may have a hard time making up your mind what to do concerning many things.

Every season is what you make of it and this is the time of the year to relax some, tune into your own psyche and intuition and dare to dream bigger dreams. When the Aries season occurs it will be time to turn your dreams into reality and make them real. And of course, now is time to experience your own feelings and get in touch with what it is you truly desire so you can make it happen when the Sun enters Aries.

February 23rd, Mars sextiles Neptune. Compassion and creativity are associated with this aspect and it is in all ways positive. Don’t be surprised if you aren’t called to lend a helping hand in some manner or this may be done for you. Dreams may seem especially vivid at this time. The following day; February 25th, Venus sexiles Neptune as well so we have the two planets of love (and money) making a harmonious aspect with Neptune. This is a great time to socialize or spend time with a significant other. The energy will be pleasant and positively creative.

Aquarius New Moon: change, revolution, unpredictability

February’s New Moon falls on February 1, at 12 degrees of Aquarius. Aquarius is the natural ruler of the 11th house of friends and groups in astrology. It is also considered a humanitarian sign that deals with the collective, so this New Moon will affect all of us to some degree.

You will feel the urge to connect and mingle with others at this time and interact with friends and those around you as Aquarius is a very social sign. Freedom and independence will be a theme with this moon, especially as it will clash with Uranus.

Independence and being your authentic self is important now as opposed to being concerned with what others think. The most important consideration at this time will be what do you think, and how can I express my true wants, desires and needs with others.  You could join a group, political cause, establish new friendships or participate in group activities of some sort and it is possible for new beginnings in any of these areas.

With Aquarius, now is the time to think outside the box and perhaps even participate in a ‘brainstorming,’ session of some sort. Aquarius sparks new ideas, new visions and new and different ways of approaching things. Tried and true solutions may be a positive, but this is the time to look toward the future along with better, if not cutting edge types of solutions and ideas. For some, technology will be important as Uranus rules the high tech world, internet and all electronic communication.

Aquarius’s detached and logical thinking is a plus at this time and allows us to rise above emotional problems and issues and look at situations as though we were watching a movie; perhaps seeing and understanding your own role in a less emotional manner.  This can help us break away from destructive issues, habits and even people who have outlived their purpose in our lives. Aquarius strongly aligns with the future, not the past.

This moon is conjunct Saturn suggesting a somber attitude that can lean toward depressing if not channeled correctly. Saturn is all about work and obligations and can also give us great determination but there could be some blockage or reticence involved.

The moon’s square to Uranus makes this an unpredictable full moon full of twists and turns that may be of an unexpected nature. Be ready for the unexpected or at the very least to try something different today.

This is not the time to place others under pressure to conform as it could cause the relationship to break or end. You could feel restless, agitated, or have a strong desire to follow a new path. Some relationships may end at this time, especially if they are unstable and without strong bonds or direction.

In the collective we may expect sudden events that could involve rebellions, attempted takeovers, issues concerning women, the elderly and a great deal of changeability on the world stage. The alignment of this moon sets off the current Uranus-Saturn square which means events on the world stage may be large and involve explosions or explosive situations, conflict, breaking free or attempts to change the status quo. This new moon sets off a significant Uranus transit in Vladimir Putin’s chart along with the chart of President Joe Biden.

Mars enters Capricorn!

Mars enters Capricorn January 24th where it will remain until March 5th when it enters Aquarius.

Mars is the action planet and affects how we act and approach things. The last time Mars transited through Capricorn was February 16th-March 30th, 2020.

Mars in Capricorn is ruled by planet Saturn, called the taskmaster by astrologers. Saturn is the planet of structure, restrictions and hard work. It rules the 10th house of business and priorities and it is here our interests will lie during Mars transit through Capricorn. Mars is considered ‘exalted’ in this sign, which means the energy operates smoothly and easily so we can accomplish a great deal more now than during other times.

Capricorn is not a light hearted or frivolous sign. Mars in this placement is concerned with achievement, finding value in what we do, and stability.  Mars-Capricorn will enable us to harness the action oriented energy of Mars and direct and focus it in a patient and strategic manner toward whatever we want to accomplish.

Capricorn’s ruler Saturn shows us our boundaries and limitations so we can hone in on what is achievable and most important. Capricorn- Saturn can at times relate to austerity but it can also be rich, warm and enduring as well. Mars in Capricorn has a quiet sense of purpose along with the patience to work slowly and steadily toward what we hope to achieve.

Capricorn is a Cardinal sign which means it is about making things happen. This sign has the ability to forgo short term gratification in favor of something much more substantial in the end. There is often a sense of legacy with Capricorn, such as building something long term that will endure over time for future generations. As Saturn is Capricorn’s ruling planet it is also connected to the past and has a strong sense of worth that can come from tradition and things like historic preservation. Many antique dealers and those associated with antiquities have Capricorn planets. Real estate, farming and land are fields that can be connected with Capricorn.

The shadow side of Mars in Capricorn can relate to materialism, or the concept of ‘doing whatever you have to,’ to achieve success. Mars in this sign can also gravitate toward being a workaholic so it will be important to take time to relax and smell the roses. At times Mars-Capricorn can come across as calculating or cold, and sometimes even negative. No transiting aspect however, has the ability to turn someone into something they are basically not, but these are some of the qualities may be aware of and guard against as Mars moves through this sign.

Capricorn takes commitments seriously and generally lives up to them. A strong sense of purpose, a cool head and steady growth all hallmarks of Mars-Capricorn.  With Mars in this sign you will be drawn toward those who have strong drive and a sense of purpose and self worth. You will be far less likely to be attracted to frivolous things or people at this time.

Capricorn is also connected to the earth, so now is the time to plan walks, hikes or anything else that involves nature. There is a warm sensuality connected to this sign that can allow you to feel a special connection with others you are drawn to. Mars-Capricorn is a time to define what we want and have a plan for getting there so lean into it and make the most of this time.

Mars is in Saturn’s sign; Capricorn. This will give us the ability to work long hours on something without a great deal of difficulty. This may seem boring or tedious to some but every sign has its season and purpose. This one is all about accomplishment and getting things done.

A change of fate: The North and South nodes change signs

Our collective as well as personal destiny is shown in the North and South Nodes. These are not planets but calculated points in the chart. Everyone is born with both a North and South node, and every 18 months, the nodes change signs showing us where we are headed as a collective. Both nodes tell a story regarding our fate and destiny; the North node is where we are headed and the South node shows us what we need to leave behind or release. While the North Node is the ideal of what we hope to achieve, the South Node is what can hold us back.

January 19th, 2022 The North and South Nodes leave Gemini-Sagittarius for Taurus-Scorpio. The South node or the Scorpio energy is what we will be faced with releasing over the next year and a half. Scorpio is associated with subjects that are taboo and the darker side of human nature. Obsessions, manipulation, sex for personal gain, extreme emotional pain, intensity, suspicion and mistrust along with the darker side of the human psyche are all part of the collective karma we will need to release to make the best of the higher qualities of Taurus, which would be creating and focusing on our values, love (Taurus is ruled by Venus), serenity, taking care of the earth and each other, new sources of growing food for the world, getting value for our money, wisdom, peace and serenity. Everyone born over the next 18 months will experience the Nodes in these signs.

As Scorpio and Taurus are related to the 2nd/8th house axis this also shows us we will be focused on money and finances as a collective. This will include issues of income inequality, corporate greed, and those who have the most as well as the least. It will be up to us as a society to find balance between these two opposites.

The astrology of 2022; A New story begins

Happy New Year! These are the most important astrological aspects of 2022:

Venus retrograde

Venus will remain retrograde until January 29th when it turns direct. During the Venus retrograde period we are typically drawn toward reconsidering our relationships and how they are serving our needs, as well as those of our partner. Now is the time to work out any underlying problems to build a stronger partnership if you are in one. Venus in Capricorn is about building slowly and succinctly so we may reach our desired goal in the end. Capricorn is a conservative sign prone toward moving slowly toward a commitment that will last whether it is romantic or something else. A retrograde planet is about going over ground from the past, sometimes re-thinking or reconsidering its affect and how we ourselves have changed.

Retrograde Venus is strongly connected with the past and those from the past. This can include old lovers, clients, friends and even family members. Feelings of past betrayals can sometimes creep in and now is the time to deal with these issues, and realize we cannot let our past determine our future. We might begin to do this by asking ourselves why we were or in a relationship that does or did not suit our needs to begin with and how we can avoid this in the future.

Some experienced difficult relationship issues or dealt with feelings of loss or betrayal in December when Venus was conjunct Pluto. This cycle will not be totally finished until Venus conjuncts Pluto for the final time March 3rd at which point Venus is direct. If the energy has been channeled correctly you may find that the old issues from the past are not quite so heavy along with the fact is we should all be wiser, smarter and more mindful as time goes on and we all evolve and grow.

Venus will not turn retrograde again until July 23, 2023-September 4th. The next time Venus will retrograde in the sign Leo.

If Venus is making a positive aspect in your personal chart as it turns direct sometimes this can indicate a new love or some other type of positive opportunity, depending on what it is hitting in your chart.

The Saturn-Uranus square

Saturn’s square to Uranus dominated the sky in 2021 and will remain with us the better part of 2022. This aspect has far reaching consequences for society that tend to play out over a long period of time and we may see great changes as well in our personal lives.

The last ‘exact’ aspect of Saturn’s square to Uranus occurred December 23rd, 2021. The planets are separating at the time of this post but the energy will continue to play in the background by varying degrees throughout the year. While this transit will not be ‘exact,’ as it was three times in 2021 it will nevertheless create change and often unpredictable events on the world stage and in our lives.

A square in astrology represents difficult circumstances and serious clashes. In 2021 we have seen political upheaval and investigations, a concerted effort toward election suppression and gerrymandering, restrictions of abortion rights, extreme weather conditions and disasters, Covid, mass shootings, a rise in crime and a decline in Democratic values in the US and around the world with the rise of authoritarian governments and extremists of many forms. We have also experienced inflation and a rise in food prices and shortages due to supply chain issues to name a few of the problems we encountered last year This aspect will be almost exact in January, very close together in August and September, and by October these two planets are less than 1 degree apart so they are almost exact. After October as the planets separate from each other they will not square each other again until 2043. The most significant dates in 2022 for this aspect are January, September and especially October.

If the Uranus-Saturn square falls on a sensitive point in your chart you can expect definite change, but some change will occur for everyone. We can continue to expect major geo-political changes and disruptions in the world this year as a result of this aspect.

Jupiter sextiles Uranus

Jupiter sextiles Uranus-exact on February 17th, and within an orb of influence January 3rd through the end of May. (Orb of influence means we will feel the energy of this aspect, even though it is not ‘exact.’)

This aspect is indicative of new, exciting and cutting edge ways of doing things, new opportunities and brings potential for financial gain. We could see new technology, drugs and any number of exciting new inventions or ideas.

Jupiter is expansive and could involve education, medicine, legal matters and the law, philosophy or religion. We may see new ideas come to fruition for the benefit of mankind. This aspect indicative of new growth on many levels.

Jupiter conjuncts Neptune in Pisces-Exact on April 12, 2022 and within an orb of influence March-May 10th. There will be a slight influence again late October-December 20th.

This is a beautiful aspect which will place a focus on creativity, the arts, the collective imagination and could be one of the dreamiest and most romantic periods we could experience for a long time to come.  Spirituality will play a role in this along with faith and compassion. We could see great strides in the arts, TV, movies and the media. Dreams may be vivid, and it could seem there is magic in the air. Jupiter and Neptune are both in the sign of their rulership making this aspect very powerful but we must keep our feet on the ground as well.

Pisces is symbolized by two fish swimming in opposite directions so this aspect can be a double edged sword for some. Neptune is associated with confusion, delusion, propaganda and lies. It could be a difficult time in terms of judging truth from fiction so we will need to use our heads and do the research before believing much of what we see and hear at this time. What seems real may not be real and what doesn’t seem real may be fact. It won’t especially be easy to sort things out especially since there will be individuals and entities who want to gaslight, confuse, lie and distort the facts for their own personal gain. While spirituality will be important for many during this time, this aspect will also bring out religious zealots, and those who cloak their actions under the guise of religion but in fact are extremists, cults or have a thirst for power. This will play out on the world stage but could occur in our own lives as well. Be careful about signing contracts, joining new ventures, getting involved with strangers or making financial or other commitments unless you are fully aware of the circumstances and who you are dealing with. As Neptune rules infectious diseases we may hear more news in this realm as well, especially relating to Covid.

Jupiter sextiles Pluto-exact May 3rd, with an orb of influence from mid-March.

Under this aspect you will feel the ability, courage and strength to believe you can do something significant in the world.

You may be admired for your leadership activities and abilities and should do well communicating with groups or organizations at this time. Personal development can occur now as you strive for success based on past work, education or learning. It is an opportune time to give up any bad habits without a great deal of stress.

This is a positive aspect in the world for reaching compromise with groups over matters concerning government solutions, financial matters and the law.

Group communications and activities should be greatly enhanced.

Jupiter enters Aries May 11-October 28, 2022.

If Jupiter in Pisces is about recognizing your true dreams, then Jupiter in Aries will be about putting your dreams and ideas into action. Jupiter will zoom through Pisces during the first 4 months of the year and enter Aries May 11th, where it will remain until October 28th. From October 28-December 20th it will return to Pisces and re-enter Aries again December 20-May 16, 2023.

Aries is a fire sign and its planetary ruler is Mars, the planet of action. With Jupiter in Aries, our actions can often be self serving. This is not necessarily bad, but it is important to remember we are all part of the human community.

Jupiter in Aries will cause us to identify strongly with our own opinions, beliefs and perceptions of things in our lives and around us. These feelings will be amplified when Mars also enters Aries May 24th-July 5th.  Jupiter and Mars will join Venus in Aries May 24-28th creating a powerful stellium (3 planets or more) in this sign. This will be a short but auspicious period that will bring up a certain amount of anger, revelations or deep seated resentment as Venus will square Pluto during these few days, especially May 26th.

Aries is also connected to courage, so Jupiter’s time in this sign may allow us to step out of our comfort zone, take the lead and perhaps even inspire others. Aires likes to live in the now and seldom dwells on the past.  Competition may increase in many areas as well as belief in ourselves and our abilities.

Every sign has its negative manifestations and if the downside of Pisces is disillusionment and lack of clarity or escapism, the downside of Aries can be too much zeal, a me first attitude and lack of objectivity.

All in all, Aries is a positive and goal oriented sign. It is considered at its fall in Aries which means the energy will not operate as easily or comfortably as Jupiter in Pisces, but each sign has a purpose and while in Aries we should make headway on what we hope to achieve.

Jupiter’s retrograde July 28-November 23rd

Jupiter turns retrograde July 28th while in Aries and will not turn direct until November 23rd when it is back in Pisces at 28 degrees.

In some instances, money matters can be delayed when Jupiter retrogrades, but it does not totally take away the beneficial rays of Jupiter.

At times when Jupiter is retrograde if a positive aspect is being made, whatever is being shown may not be delivered, or not meet our expectations. If so, Jupiter will return again to this degree later in the year, and positive results may occur then.

Jupiter retrogrades every year for about 4 months. Jupiter’s retrograde is a good time to enlarge your internal dialogue to see where you can expend and expand your personal perspective and a great deal is often accomplished on an inner level.

As Jupiter retrogrades back into Pisces we will be once more at risk of another Covid outbreak. Covid greatly increased during the retrograde of Pisces that began in May of 2021. That said, Jupiter-Pisces may well bring medical advancements or new drugs to fight this disease as well. Jupiter in Pisces will be many things of a positive nature; most of all hope.

The North and South Nodes enter Taurus-Scorpio; A changing of the guard

Everyone is born with a North and South node. These are not planets, but astrological points that show us what we need to release in life (the South Node, associated with past lives) and the North Node which shows us our future or our destiny.

Every 18 months the nodes shift, showing us where our collective destiny is headed. For the past 18 months the nodes have been in Sagittarius-Gemini, showing us we need to expand our ideas (Gemini).

The impact of the South Node in Sagittarius has been unmistakable; blind belief systems, leading to absolute opinions and in accordance with the darker side of Sagittarius, putting two and two together to come up with five, conspiracy theories or unproven information taken at face value, blindly. Sagittarius is known to ‘live for danger,’ and this has certainly played out with the politicalization of the Covid vaccine and lack of mask wearing among those who wish to make a statement. The result of that statement can be seen in the hospitals and health care systems on the brink of collapse.

The nodes retrograde into Scorpio-Taurus on January 19th, changing our collective destiny once again. A simple way of looking at the nodes is this; if the South Node is the problem, then the North node is the solution to the problem. Yet another way of approaching the nodes is to say the South node is our unresolved karma, and the North node is where we are supposed to be headed.

The collective, of which we are all a part of will soon face the messy, dark, secretive and murky waters of South Node Scorpio energy, that no one wants to talk about or face. The darker side of Scorpio deals with obsessions, manipulations, societal taboos, death, sex, money, the darker side of life. Scorpio in fact, rules the dark of the night and the deep and intense wounds we may feel that we will never recover from as Scorpio tears down and destroys, only to rebuild. Scorpio deals with painful extremes and extreme transitions such as that of life to death. Let’s not forget that Scorpio is also about sex and all kinds of problems associated with sex. It is really no surprise that the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell, the longtime companion of Jeffery Epstein occurred just days before the shift of the nodes. (The mean nodes actually shifted on December 22. The difference between the mean and true nodes has to do with their calculation. The position of the nodes can teeter a bit so astrologers factored this in and called this position the True Node).

The Maxwell trial has brought out one of the darker sides of humanity; the sexual exploitation and abuse of minors, and by a woman no less. As she has been convicted of 5 out of 6 counts against her the jury has clearly shown a willingness to go there, and face one of the darkest of societal taboos. This is one example of of the type of thing the South Node in Scorpio will deal with and in all likelihood we will see a great deal more of this type of scandal coming out into the open to be dealt with by society.

The elixir or the remedy for all of this Scorpionic madness will be to embrace the higher side of the North node in Taurus. Taurus is ruled by Venus the planet of love, and love is the answer. Taurus is stable, reliable, hard working, and driven. While Taurus appreciates fine things and wants value for their money, South Node Scorpio can be too caught up in drama, materialism, financial and other obsessions and the finances of others. Taurus North node wants to be self reliant, fair and above board. Personal grounding will become important with the North Node in Taurus, which is something society is desperately lacking at this time. Connections with others will become more important as well as a simpler lifestyle, while shedding the drama, intensity and in some cases greed of the South Node in Scorpio. Healing will be important with the North node in Taurus, especially on a collective level. Other manifestations of North node Taurus will be caring for the earth, exploring different mechanisms for farming and food production and distribution, and a greater focus on income equality. This could take the form of a higher minimum wage, tax changes that do not focus on the wealthiest, and a general appreciation for the low paid front line workers that we have learned are invaluable throughout Covid. Defining our worth within society is another example of how the North node in Taurus may manifest, as well as the value of others. Patience and tolerance is perhaps the most important lesson we can learn from Taurus in the North node.

2022 Eclipses

In 2022 we will experience two solar eclipses and two lunar eclipses. The dates are April 30th-lunar, May 16th-solar, October 25th-solar and November 8th-lunar.

All of these eclipses fall on the 2nd/8th house axis and they are all in Taurus/Scorpio. The 8th house axis (Scorpio) relates to money, other people’s money, taxes, sex, death, hidden information and major transformations. As Taurus is the natural ruler of the 2nd house this will concern income, money, values and self worth. These will be re-occurring themes throughout the year, and it appears there will be a greater focus on money and values.

April 30th’s lunar eclipse falls at 10 degrees of Taurus. There are two stelliums featured in this eclipse that include Pisces and Taurus. A stellium is a group of three or more planets. Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Neptune are all in Pisces. Jupiter conjunct Venus is a beautiful transit that only occurs once a year. This aspect is typical of social activity, compassion, creativity and spirituality. This aspect sextile Pluto giving it the power to help us change any number of things at this time with ease.

The 2nd stellium involves the Sun, Moon Uranus and the North node all in Taurus. Taurus relates to money and values, and as the Sun and Moon are conjunct Uranus this eclipse is likely to bring about some sudden and unexpected events. All of these planets get support from Mars, putting us in a position to make positive change if we desire.

The May 16th lunar eclipse falls at 25 degrees of Scorpio, bringing up 8th house matters. This moon squares Saturn which typically results in dealing with obligations or work, and some things may end. The Sun also squares Saturn, creating a t-square which is a difficult aspect involving three planets; an opposition and two squares. We may be pulled in many different directions but the moon does receive support from Pluto, Mars and Neptune. We can expect this eclipse to be intense, dramatic and we may be pulled in many different directions.

October 25th another solar eclipse falls at 2 degrees of Scorpio. The sun, Moon and Venus are all in Scorpio and this can create a positive energy geared toward love and social activities. Mars squares Neptune just before this eclipse and the energy remains with us a few days. This can be foggy confusing and prone to lies, distortions and propaganda. Otherwise, with the Sun, Moon and Venus conjunct we should expect some positive energy that can be channeled in whatever direction we choose.

November 8th brings the final lunar eclipse at 16 degrees of Taurus. This moon is conjunct Uranus in Taurus and both planets oppose the Sun, Mercury and Venus in Scorpio. This is an eclipse prone to unexpected events, breakups and misunderstandings and it could be accident prone. A day earlier Venus squares Saturn which can create possibilities of misunderstanding, relationships problems and issues around money. Now will be the time to let go of things that have outlived their purpose in your life.

Mars retrogrades

October 30th Mars turns retrograde and will remain so until January 12, 2023.. Mars is the action planet of the zodiac. It rules our actions, drive, energy and passion, men, sex and even war. The 'red planet" speaks of the confidence of an individual and how they act out their lives. Mars in Gemini is in Mercury’s sign, so our actions will be highly colored by conversation, speech and a desire to communicate freely with people.

When Mars retrogrades we can suffer from irritation, anger and low energy. Things may slow down, speech can become confused as Mars in Mercury’s sign, and retrograde Mars in any sign can be accident prone.

A well known astrologer teacher once said, ‘when Venus goes retrograde the men chase the women, and when Mars is retrograde the women chase the men.’  Since Mars rules half of the population, this aspect can definitely affect relationships, communication and many other facets of your life depending on where Gemini falls in your personal chart.

The stationary retrograde and direct periods of Mars are the most important times, unless Mars is setting off a sensitive point in your own personal chart.

Mars enters its pre-retrograde shadow period August 31st signifying a period when Mars energy starts to subtly shift. The closer Mars moves to its retrograde the more we will feel the energy.

As the stationary retrograde/direct periods of Mars are the most important, this is even more so the case if Mars aspects any planets in your own birth chart. If this is the case, significant events can occur, and combative situations may crop up or you could experience health related issues-typically not serious, or even accidents. What exactly will happen depends on where Gemini falls your own chart and what else is in your chart at the time.

The stationary retrograde period when it becomes obvious Mars energy is changing is October 30th- November 8th.

When Mars retrogrades people seem to accomplish more if they are in a crisis state. This typically occurs with people born with a retrograde Mars, or a Mars that goes retrograde by progression. Many people complain of low energy during this time, and plans can be delayed. Sometimes, people need to back up, reassess, and slow down some for a time. It is best not to start new projects, relationships or even jobs if possible on a retrograde Mars as the situation may change when Mars turns direct.

All retrograde planets are associated with events that are sometimes considered karmic, or meant to be. They are also associated with the past in some way, and we typically retrace some of our earlier steps.

Mars will turn ‘stationary direct’ at 8 degrees of Gemini January 12-25, 2023. This is the second most important period, when things may change once again or take another direction. If Mars makes a positive aspect in your chart when it turns direct you may expect some significant action or things may really pick up in some way. If Mars makes a difficult transit you can expect to be dealing with a challenge of some sort.

The post retrograde shadow period will last until March 15, 2023, and at this point energy will be completely normal once again.

May 2022 be your best year yet!

Astrology of January 2022!

January 2022 is a significant month based on astrology. Venus is retrograde until the end of the month and Mercury also turns retrograde January 14th. The powerful Uranus-Saturn square will begin to separate and perhaps give us a little breathing room after December, and Uranus will turn direct. We have a significant new moon and a very powerful if not volatile full moon. Mars enters Capricorn this month joining Venus and Mercury. Let’s get right to the most significant aspects of January.

The Saturn-Uranus square begins to separate

The third Saturn-Uranus square of 2021 was exact on December 23rd.  By the first week of January Saturn has moved 2 degrees away from Uranus, so the volatile energies of the clash between these two planets is starting to lighten up some and will continue throughout January.

Saturn square Uranus is a powerful aspect prone to societal disruptions, stress and unexpected changes in our own lives, depending on what this aspect is doing in your personal chart. It has long lasting affects and is associated with financial change, upheaval and tyranny on the world stage.

December saw a sharp rise in Covid infections and deaths and this will continue throughout January. Even though Saturn is no longer in an exact square with Uranus the ramifications of this aspect and have far reaching consequences and the energy does not disappear overnight. The political turmoil will continue and this will be an important thing to watch as the US enters its first ever Pluto return in February.

A Pluto return occurs about once every 250 years in the chart of a country. Societies sometimes end at this point, or they reinvent themselves and come back in a new and stronger way. The Pluto return will add more stress to the Saturn-Uranus square which will be within enough of an orb to still have an affect throughout 2022. While it will not be ‘exact’ again in 2022, it will be in another tight clash during September and October of 2022.

Mercury enters Aquarius and retrogrades

Mercury enters the sign Aquarius in the early morning hours of December 2nd, changing Mercurial energy and the way we think and communicate with others. This comes as an added bonus to the New Moon that falls on the same day, giving us an opportunity to expand our thinking, rather than staying stuck in the past.

Mercury will turn retrograde in Aquarius on January 14th and re-enter Capricorn on January 26th where it will remain retrograde until February 4th. It will move back into Aquarius again February 14th and remain in this sign until March 10th and we will repeat the entire Mercury-Aquarius cycle all over again. If you don’t finish what you begin under the first 3 weeks of Mercury in Aquarius you will have another opportunity mid February.

Mercury in Capricorn has been focused on serious matters, work, career, success and matters of priority. During Mercury’s transit through Aquarius we may all be a little more open minded and receptive to new ideas and ways of doing things. Aquarius is known for its quirky, wild and weird side as well as its intellectual, inventive and eccentric nature. The sign Aquarius is associated with the 11th house in astrology which rules the collective, as well as groups and organizations. On a collective level we will be rethinking many things that benefit or don’t benefit society as a whole.

Mercury-Aquarius works well if not best within groups and the collective so don’t be afraid to speak up even if you ideas seem farfetched.

The only downside to Mercury in Aquarius is that our thinking could become a little scattered and it is important to remember that we will be speaking and communicating from a logical standpoint so we need to include the human element in our conversations. Now is the time to give your ideas room to fly and see where they land as Aquarius is bold, different and typically focused on things that serve humanity.

While Mercury is retrograde we can expect the normal glitches, delays and snafus that typically occur. Retrograde Mercury is a time to reassess and re-do, not start new projects or buy high ticket items.

New Moon in Capricorn

The first New Moon of the year falls in Capricorn, the sign geared toward career, work and important matters. This moon falls on January 2nd at 12 degrees of the sign ruled by Saturn the planet of responsibility and structure. This is not a frivolous New moon but a time to re-evaluate things, in particular our personal resources and plans.

This New Moon is the 1st Super moon of the year. A Super moon has a greater affect on tidal waves and is often associated with earthquakes, tsunamis and the like. It appears closer to the earth and is typically quite beautiful for stargazing. Capricorn is a Cardinal sign connected to the earth, and things move and happen quickly when we are under cardinal signs, unlike mutable signs which are changeable and fixed signs when energy moves much more slowly.

The New Moon symbolizes a new beginning and is a time to focus on getting back to business after the New Year and focus on the more constructive traits of the sign. Capricorn is ambitious, resourceful, reliable and typically has a great deal of common sense; something that seems to be sorely missing in society today.

The New Moon trines Uranus creating a powerful and easy energy for change. With a trine, change can occur in a simple and easy way without all of the stress change can sometimes create at other times.

This represents a prime opportunity to build order in your life as we begin the New Year. Now is the time to set your plan for the upcoming year, and to put your dreams into motion in a practical and realistic manner. In this way, the New Moon is a gift.

Venus is retrograde

Venus continues it’s every year and a half retrograde until January 29th. During a Venus retrograde many matters or issues come up in relationships that must be dealt with. During Venus’s retrograde the karma or fate of a relationship is often decided for better or worse. Some relationships may end; others can get back together as Venus retrograde is strongly connected with the past, and those from the past. It is not limited to romantic relationships however; this can extend to co-workers, friends and other acquaintances from the past.

Venus in Capricorn is somewhat of a conservative transit concerned with the practical realities of things. Money is also ruled by Venus and at this time many will focus on getting their finances straight and in some cases may spend more conservatively.

Venus also rules women and our personal as well as collective values. During this time we will be revisiting our own values and those as a collective.

When Venus turns stationary retrograde January 29th, energies associated with love and money will start to shift again. Venus turns direct at 11 degrees of Capricorn and if this aspects something in your personal chart you should experience a type of gain wherever this aspect is located in your chart. It can be especially significant in terms of meeting new people and entering into relationships.

Venus will remain in conservative Capricorn until March 6, 2021. Venus in Capricorn may not be the brightest or most exciting placement for the planet of love and money, but by the time Venus leaves Capricorn for Aquarius in March we will have resolved many issues of both a personal and business nature if you have utilized this energy in the proper manner. If this is the case, you will certainly have a jump start on the New Year.

North and South nodes change signs

Our collective as well as personal destiny is shown in the North and South Nodes. These are not planets but rather calculated points in the chart. Everyone is born with both a North and South node, and every 18 months, the nodes change signs showing us where we are headed as a collective. Both nodes tell a story regarding our fate and destiny; the North node is where we are headed and the South node shows us what we need to leave behind or release.

January 18th, 2022 The North and South Nodes leave Gemini-Sagittarius for Taurus-Scorpio. The South node or the Scorpio energy is what we will be faced with releasing over the next year and a half. Scorpio is associated with subjects that are taboo and the darker side of human nature. Death, manipulation, sex, pain, intensity and suspicion are all part of the collective karma we will need to release to make the best of the higher qualities of Taurus, which would be creating and focusing on our values, love (Taurus is ruled by Venus), serenity, taking care of the earth and each other, new sources of growing food for the world, getting value for our money, wisdom, peace and serenity.

As Scorpio and Taurus are related to the 2nd/8th house axis this also shows us we will be focused on money and finances as a collective. This will include issues of income inequality, corporate greed, and those who have the most as well as the least. It will be up to us as a society to find balance between these two opposites.

Jupiter is in Pisces

Jupiter left Aquarius for Pisces on December 28th, and will remain in this sign until May 10th. At this point it will enter Aries until October 28th, when it will return to Pisces for 2 more months.

In 2020 we had a chance to dip our toes into the Pisces energy when it entered the sign May 13-July 28th. It only reached 2 degrees before retrograding back into Aquarius for the rest of the year. There was however, a significant energy shift at this time. Outside of this, the last time Jupiter transited through Pisces was January 2010-January 2011, or 12 years ago.

Jupiter in Pisces will enhance creativity, spirituality, creative expression, compassion and intuition on the positive end. Faith, optimism and idealism may make a great comeback and dreams and intuition may be vivid. The sign Pisces is associated with Jupiter, its ancient ruler and also its modern ruler which is Neptune. While Jupiter is expansive and positive,  Neptune is the planet of illusion, delusion and confusion, as well as psychic abilities, religion, theatre and the arts, the ocean and drugs, alcohol, lies or misinterpretations of the facts.  During Jupiter’s retrograde period (especially) in Pisces we must guard against self-deception, sacrificing ones happiness for the whim of others, and looking at things through too-rosy glasses. Escapism is another theme associated with Neptune along with a powerful desire to become a part of something or someone’s life that may or may not be appropriate or operating in our best interest. Having to sacrifice something important is frequently a theme of relationships involving Neptune/Pisces and the desire to merge with something or someone new and exciting may be more powerful than the question of whether or not this is good for us.

Pisces/Neptune is connected to drugs and addictions of all types which could increase in society along with plans about how to deal with addiction and those whose lives are ruined by it. This will be an issue that becomes front and center at some point. Many will seek to escape the harsh realities of the times either through substances or some other means.

Psychics, dreams and spiritualism, mediumship, astrology and other esoteric arts will prosper and become more widespread as people search for deeper answers and yearn to return to the times when society seemed kinder and less harsh.

Movies and creative projects will take great leaps and we can expect to see some outstanding creative work under this transit. A new pop culture explosion may be in the making.

Pisces is also associated with those who have the least. We will see significant humanitarian actions to help certain people, along with an increase in those who need help. This can only help in the US as we experience our first ‘Pluto return,’ which will bring up dark themes involving power, control, extremism and ultimately a re-birth of some sort.

The last time Jupiter transited through Pisces we saw the Deepwater Horizon oil spill (April 20, 2010) along with Arab Spring which changed the geo-political climate of the Middle East. Jupiter was not the only planet involved in these major occurrences but it still played a role in bringing a great deal of information to the surface that had been heretofore unknown. And of course, the Horizon oil spill involved the oceans which are Neptune’s domain so we could see other water related weather incidents this time along with an increase in global climate change.

Jupiter is associated with the 9th house of ideas, travel, education, publishing, world view and religious or philosophical viewpoints so there will be a great deal of focus or expansion in these areas as well. Our personal world views may expand or change during this time along with a potential yearning for travel and faraway places. Indigenous religions or philosophies will increase along with those who have convoluted personal philosophies and ideas we may or may not agree with.

Pisces is symbolized by two fish swimming in opposite directions so it is a double edged sword. This will play out on the world stage but could occur in our own lives as well. Be careful about signing contracts, joining new ventures, getting involved with strangers or making financial or other commitments unless you are fully aware of the circumstances and who you are dealing with. As Neptune rules infectious diseases we may hear more news in this realm as well.

Confusion and lack of clarity about many things in society will continue and increase as we experience a flood of information much of which will be meant to confuse or persuade us of an idea which may or may not be correct. It will be easy to follow an incorrect or false path so clarity of mind and commonsense is essential during Jupiter’s transit through Pisces. Some things will end, and if so while one door may close another can open when Jupiter enters Aries in May. If we are lucky, compassion, love and a Jupitarian desire for justice and truth will be stronger than the desire to hide from reality or believe that nothing bad can really come our way.

The sun enters Aquarius

The sun leaves Capricorn for Aquarius in the morning hours of January 19thth. This places the Sun and Mercury in the sign that rules the 11th house or the collective and the season of Aquarius is on! The Sun will remain in Aquarius until February 18.

Aquarius is an air sign ruled by both Saturn and Uranus. This season represents the dead of winter as it is a fixed sign, which means energies (and the weather) change very slowly. Aquarius energy is pioneering, brilliant, eccentric, original, standoffish, aloof and detached and these are the energies we will be working with over the next month.

Aquarius is typically associated with compassion, helping others, abstract unique thinking and we can be presented with new and unique ideas. Aquarius can sometimes be associated with brilliance or brilliant ideas, or sometimes fringe ideas and thinking. We may also be more inclined to spend more time with groups (the collective) and be more social than when the Sun is in Capricorn.

Aquarius is associated with things and people that are ahead of their time but it can also be associated with lack of tact, abrupt or less than warm energy especially in one on one situations, as Aquarius prefers groups.

Aquarius can be associated with sudden change and revolts of all types in the collective.

Those born under the sign Aquarius typically have logical thinking and Mercury is exalted in this sign meaning communication moves along with ease.

The Sun squares Uranus January 30, and this day will require flexibility to work out well. The more rigid your plans are, the more likely you are to feel unsettled, as it is likely something may change this day or work out in an unexpected manner. This will set off the Saturn-Uranus square once again, and we will see some significant events on the world stage.

If your life feels stagnant this day could be exciting or you could take a new and unexpected direction that could open up a new path. Change is in the air.

Mars enters Capricorn

Mars leaves Aquarius for Capricorn January 24th. Mars in Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, and Capricorn is not a light hearted sign. Mars in this sign is concerned with business, priorities, and finding or achieving value, and most of all stability and personal security on some level. While Mars in Aquarius was flexible and somewhat interested in new ideas Capricorn is typically more concerned with the status quo and achievement along the line of practical realities. Mars last transited through Capricorn February 16th, 2020-March 30th of the same year. At that time we were concerned about the practical realities of dealing with Covid.

Mars rules energy, men, sex, action and our drive. Our day to day actions and priorities are colored by the sign Mars is transiting through at any given time.

Saturn, the ruler of this sign shows us our boundaries and limitations. While Capricorn is associated with Saturn which can at times relate to austerity, Capricorn can also be rich, warm and enduring.

If you were born under the sign of Capricorn or are a Capricorn ascendant, expect to become very busy during this time, and this begins a new two year cycle for you.

Mars will remain in Capricorn until March 6th, when it moves into Aquarius.

Full Moon in Cancer

January’s full moon falls at 27 degrees of Cancer on January 17th, and the lunar peak occurs at 6:48 PM, EDT. Cancer rules the 4th house of the chart, or home, the homeland, family and is concerned with personal security. Cancer’s ruler is the Moon, or the luminary that rules women and our emotional lives.

Since Cancer is the most emotional of signs, for many this is likely to be an emotionally upsetting full moon as it opposes Pluto, the planet of death, destruction and transformation.

There may be a great deal of anger directed toward or coming from women at this time, and Moon-Pluto aspects tend to reveal previously unknown information, and bring up deep seated issues associated with emotional pain. As Venus is also retrograde this is likely to manifest in relationships, especially those relationships that are not especially stable. Family issues and problems could arise as well.

Mercury has entered its square to Uranus which is associated with unexpected and sometimes shocking news. It can produce anxiety, restlessness and arguments. It is important to use care while driving under this transit as it is accident prone.

In the US we will see much more Covid related news and unfortunately, death. It is possible we could hear of a significant death of a public person on or around this time. We could also be faced with women’s issues that are explosive in nature, issues around finances and general security.

While Moon opposite Pluto is not considered a positive aspect to work with, this could be the time to transform something important and it could include a relationship. You could also come to terms with past issues that have been emotionally debilitating and find resolution or end a bad habit. At this juncture it is best to face any emotional problem and come to terms with it as opposed to pushing it back or avoiding it all together. This can be a difficult but productive full moon in the end.

Uranus turns direct

Uranus turns direct on January 18th. This is very powerful planetary change and events and situations can change and turn on a dime, especially on the world stage or if Uranus is aspecting something in your personal chart.

Uranus is an unpredictable planet and its forward movement can seem like a jolt of lightening. Relationships, jobs, life paths, money situations and many other things can turn or change in unexpected ways, good or bad, depending on what Uranus is doing in your personal chart.

Uranus rules coups and freedom in the world as well as the internet and aircraft and we could see changes in these areas. When Uranus is retrograde it can be compared to the planet ‘being asleep.’ After it turns direct those things we have worked on over the last 6 months may take a greater form in the physical world.

The retrograde of Uranus is often associated with inner change that is connected to the outer changes in our lives. We tend to make inner change during Uranus’s retrograde that will allow us more success in the outside world when the planet turns direct. The retrograde period can usher in more self awareness, which can allow is to make changes that will lead to success in the future. During the retrograde it is typically easier to face any changes we need to make.

Uranus is associated with freedom, sometimes ‘freedom at any cost.’ This is why sometimes Uranus’s retrograde is associated with break ups and breaking free of things we find oppressive in our lives. Alternatively, we may process the information and then break free when Uranus turns direct.
