Saturn enters Pisces and Pluto enters Aquarius; A new chapter!

The world will begin to change and morph into a new era as Saturn enters Pisces March 7th at 8:35 AM, EST, and Pluto moves into Aquarius March 23rd (8:13AM, EDT). As the world shifts, our own lives will shift as well, depending on what these two powerful planets are doing in your chart. Also this month, we have a chaotic full moon in Virgo, then a new moon at 0 degrees of Aries which is considered the ‘world point,’ meaning events that occur will be important on a global basis. Mercury moves from Aquarius to Pisces, then Aries. Venus leaves Aries for Taurus mid month and Mars finally leaves Gemini for Cancer after 7 long months and a retrograde. All planets are direct this month indicating forward movement! Now, the details

Saturn enters Pisces

It is always significant when Saturn changes signs. Saturn in Pisces is ruled by planets Jupiter and Neptune and the last time Saturn transited this sign was March 22, 1993-April 8, 1996. For the next 2 and a half years Saturn will transit the part of your chart that Pisces rules. As Pisces rules the 12th house of the zodiac this transit of Saturn will bring about many endings, but this does not mean it is bad or negative as some things need to end in preparation of new beginnings that will occur when Saturn enters Aries in 2025-6.

Pisces is constantly shifting and morphing into something else, and often makes us believe things that aren’t real. What’s real may appear unreal and what’s unreal is something some people may believe.  Pisces has a hard time with boundaries and often either doesn’t know where the boundaries really are or goes beyond normal boundaries. This will become even more pronounced when Saturn and Neptune meet up in both the sign of Pisces and Aries as well in 2025.

All of this means the societal confusion we are all experiencing in certain ways may become more pronounced during this time. In 2016 Saturn squared Neptune. This period saw the rise of ‘fake news stories,’ Russian interference in the Presidential election in terms of false ads on Face book and other social media outlets along with trolling.

Saturn will conjunct Neptune in Aries May-June of 2025, and then in Pisces the latter part of 2025. These transits will bring about significant confusion and shifts in the collective that can dissolve boundaries, which Neptune is known for.

That said, Saturn in Pisces also has the possibility to wake us up to what is real and what is not. This is evidenced at this time by the amount of information that has come to light in the lawsuit between Fox News and Dominion Voting machines. If you follow the story it has been revealed that news anchors did not believe the ‘big lie’ perpetrated that the election had been stolen from ex-President Donald Trump. Rupert Murdoch, media mogul and owner of Fox News testified on February 27th, that ‘he had the power to stop the lie and chose not to.’  In the end, I do believe Fox will be held accountable for their blatant lies, and we will see more of lawsuits like this when the facts do not jive with reality over the next few years.

Saturn represents rules, authority and structures while in any given sign as it moves through the zodiac. Since Pisces rules creativity, spirituality and creativity, Saturn in this placement may help us bring our dreams into some type of tangible fruition. Spirituality, religion and philosophy will be a major focus over these years for better or worse.

Cults may come into focus as they did the last time Saturn was in Pisces. Cults for some can become a type of religion or religious experience depending on the person and their belief system.

Saturn should benefit anyone with Water or Earth planets as it will trine Water planets and sextile Earth planets (except Virgo) both of which are positive and can contribute to long term growth.

Those who will have the most difficult time with Saturn in Pisces will have Mutable planets; Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Saturn will transit the 1st house of everyone born under Pisces. This can be a difficult period and in some ways as Saturn transits through your Sun sign, it represents major life changes that can sometimes be accompanied with a feeling of starting over in some manner. Saturn conjunct your Sun can also represent a time when your accomplishments reach a peak and have to do with building things that last. I started my astrology business with Saturn conjunct my Sun, and that was now over 20 years ago!

Here are some of the things that occurred when Saturn was last in Pisces January of 1994-April of 1996.

-Monica Lewinsky had an affair with Bill Clinton which became public knowledge soon after.

-Skater Nancy Kerrigan was attacked by Tonya Harding

-The Northridge earthquake struck San Fernando becoming the most destructive one since 1906 (when Saturn was also in Pisces)

-Rwandan genocide begins

-President (former) Nixon dies

-48 cult followers found dead by suicide in Canada

-The Princess Diana interview occurred that ended the marriage

-The OJ trial

-Bosnian war ends

-Yitzhak Rabin assassinated

-The Oklahoma City bombings occurred

-Windows 95 released

-1994 crime bill increases criminal sentencing leading to mass incarceration crisis

-Investigations into WACO siege

 Pluto enters Aquarius

Pluto rules the collective and it changes signs on March 23, and enters Aquarius for the first time since 1798. Pluto takes more than 250 years to go through the entire zodiac so this is one of the most significant astrological changes of the year and the decade.

Pluto tends to inch into a new sign for a few months before it moves into the sign for good. This year Pluto will be in Aquarius from March 23-June 11, when it will return to Capricorn for the rest of 2023.During 2023- 2024 it will move from Aquarius back to Capricorn on the dates that follow;

-January 21-September 2, 2024

-November 19, 2024-January 2044

The 0 degree of any planet is known as the ‘world point,’ meaning events occur that we are interested in on a personal as well as global basis. Pluto will only be in Aquarius for three months this year but this will give us a taste of what’s to come for the next 2 decades. Pluto at 0 degrees will ‘set off’ the powerful Jupiter-Saturn conjunction that occurred in December of 2020.

What does Saturn-Jupiter conjunction mean?

This is one of the most important cycles in terms of major changes in the world, and civilization. Some astrologers consider this cycle the foundation upon which the world is built. It has been said this cycle is considered the ground base of human development which marks the interaction between the perception of ideas, potentialities and the manifestation of ideas in the concrete material world. Jupiter joins Saturn once every 20 years.

The Saturn-Jupiter conjunctions occur in the same element for long periods of time. This 20 year conjunction marks a 200 year change from the Earth signs-Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn to Air signs which is very significant. In the future we will be dealing with the element of Air. This will bring information to the forefront of things to an even greater degree than it already is. We are entering uncharted territory and a new era.

What could the Great conjunction mean for us personally?

-New alliances and friendships

-We may become more tolerant of others.

-We will be working to find our own individual place within the collective.

-New ideas and concepts. We should guard against strict dogmatic attitudes, which would miss the point of the Aquarian expansiveness.

-More personal structure and awareness in dealing with Covid.

-New visions that lead to new projects.

-Being a part of the cutting edge in technology, medicines, entertainment or another field.

-A larger than previous vision of something we will work toward.

-Feeling freer to be ourselves.

-A greater awareness of the suffering of others and doing something about it.

-Becoming an advocate of freedom and equality for all.

-Unexpected new awakenings and directions.

-Giving or receiving unexpected forgiveness.

 The role of Pluto

In astrology, Pluto rules the collective and is very significant in terms of world events and changes, although it is also significant for us on a personal level depending on what it is aspecting in your personal chart.

Pluto destroys and tears down to rebuild. It is supposed to rebuild in a stronger way, although it may not seem like this at the time if you are experiencing a hard Pluto transit in your chart. When a Pluto aspect occurs-positive or negative-it is going to change something, ready or not!

Aquarius is the sign of the collective and the natural ruler of the 11th house which also rules the collective. On an individual level we may be drawn to certain groups, organizations or philosophies that become important. The downside of this is that we can become too attached to our own ‘groups’ and ideas and fail to acknowledge that others can have good ideas as well, whether in a political or some other sense.

Since Aquarius is co-ruled by Uranus technologies will certainly boom, and we can already see the beginning of this with AI. Personally, I think this represents the future along with many ideas we may not even be able to conceive of at the present. 20 years before the internet boomed few individuals could foresee that it would change the world and society as we know it.

While Aquarius is a sign associated with war, it is also the most Democratic of signs. While Pluto in Capricorn has been about big business, patriarchy and plutocrats, Aquarius will be the opposite in the long run. While we have seen the rise of right wing extremism around the world, we will see the rise of the people and the desires of the majority as opposed to being governed by the few. None of this will happen overnight however, and it is important to remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day and the problems of the world won’t be all solved with this transit of Pluto. We are constantly a work in progress.

 While the true ‘Age of Aquarius’ timeline is somewhat elusive and mysterious, with the entrance of Pluto into Aquarius we will certainly feel this is the the “Age of Aquarius,” and will be influenced by Aquarian themes such as;

-unexpected events

-new discoveries and understandings

-new technologies

-uprisings around the globe associated with restrictions on people

-aircraft/spacecraft and new technologies

-stronger friendships with a greater emphasis on friends

-a desire for freedom

Some of the events that occurred when Pluto was in Aquarius 1777-1798

- Vermont became the first colony to ban slavery (1777) and the Vermont legislature moved to provide full voting rights to African American men.

--The American Revolution was being fought

-France entered the Revolutionary War

-The French Revolution occurred

-US drafts the dollar

-George Washington became first US President

-US Constitution drafted and signed

March full moon in Virgo

This month’s full moon falls at 16 degrees of Virgo on March 7th, the same day Saturn enters Pisces. Virgo is the natural ruler of the 6th house of health and work.  This moon will motivate us to find a balance between work and home life as well as our health. At times, existing health matters can crop up on a moon like this, so if this happens to be the case, this is an ideal time to visit a Dr. This does not mean however, that you should expect to have a problem.

Virgo is a critical sign; that is, it enhances critical thinking, and at the same time it can be overly critical as well. This is the time to deal with our work, habits and health, as well as the health of pets.

Virgo is ruled by Mercury the planet of communication, so we can expect to participate in many different conversations, perhaps with many different viewpoints.

The Moon however opposes Neptune and squares Mars along with the Sun forming a t-square which increases the chances of conversations turning into arguments perhaps even about something the person arguing knows nothing about. Some will be emotionally triggered, and there could be a great deal of anger toward and coming from women. Distractions could also be a problem at this time.

Moon-Neptune is associated with confusion and chaos, and Moon-Mars anger.

This Moon falls on Neptune in the US chart and sets off the natal Mars-Neptune square. This opens the door to issues over race problems, violence, and conflict with those who are considered enemies of the US. Mars rules guns as well as young men. We could also see water related weather issues.

Mercury enters Pisces and Aries

Mercury is the planet of communication that rules the way we think and respond and communicate with others. It also rules travel and commerce. March 2, Mercury enters Pisces where it will remain until March 18th.

The image of Pisces is two fish swimming in opposite directions and there is a good reason for this as this sign is a double edged sword. You can soar to the highest places under a Pisces transit or sink to the lowest depths. Pisces ruler Neptune is associated with faith, creativity, intuition, art and cinema, as well as drugs and drug addicts, lies, deception misunderstandings, propaganda, and the seamy side of life.

While Mercury is in Pisces we can expect communication to become flakier, and miscommunication to be a common theme. Rather than being focused on facts, we may be swayed more by the mood and tone of thinking and conversations. We tend to operate more on intuition, and spend time reflecting on the past.  Our instincts often drive thinking and communication, dreams and fantasies can become more vivid and remain on our minds.

Pisces is a mutable water sign. While all water signs are sensitive and emotional, a mutable sign is changeable, so our thoughts and feelings will be constantly shifting and changing over the next 20 days just like the ocean which Pisces/Neptune has dominion over.

With Mercury in Pisces we can become more attuned to idealism, fantasy, creativity, art and particularly our feelings. We often reach deep into the recesses of our subconscious mind to find creativity and find fresh and new ideas. At times we may discover or understand things to a greater depth than we have before, and we could even feel a certain illumination. Dreams typically become more vivid while Mercury is in this sign as well as more frequent. During Mercury’s transit through Pisces we will sense and feel things we don’t normally pay attention to, and sometimes know things that cannot be explained because our subconscious mind is being triggered. Pisces is after all the sign that rules psychics. It also rules religion and faith, and some will find this a more spiritual time, and focus on their inner life more than material. With Mercury in this sign we may be much more inclined to take a ‘leap of faith’ in some direction we have not previously tried. Many time we think about the bigger questions in life such as ‘what is my true purpose,’ ‘what is God,’ or ‘does life go on after death?’ None of these questions are trivial and topics like these will likely come up more frequently.

Compassion can be given and received during Mercury in Pisces. We are more attuned to others and their pain or problems at this time than we normally are. It is no surprise the “Great American Relief Act’ or the Covid stimulus bill was signed at a time when we experience multiple planets in Pisces.

The downside of this transit is that we may find that we are more forgetful, experience brain fog, or show up late at work or meetings as we are not so focused on details at this time. It is important to pay attention to communication because we can mishear something we thought was said or others may misspeak. Lack of clarity and understanding is common at this time and it is important to remember that if we don’t understand something, ask questions! We could be tempted to believe the unbelievable at some point, so before reaching any important decision make sure you get the facts straight.

Mercury changes signs again March 18th when it enters Aries, where it will remain until April 3rd. At this time we will experience another major energetic shift in our communication.

While Mercury has been in Pisces communication has typically not been direct and often confusing so its move into Aries will change this dramatically.

While in Aries communication as well as thinking will pick up speed and shift toward a style of getting straight to the point, sometimes to the point of even seeming abrupt.

For some, especially the Fire signs this will seem very natural and comfortable, and for others (especially Water signs) this type of communication may seem too harsh or outside their comfort zone.

Conveying information and ideas will be faster, sharper and without beating around the bush but we must watch out for overly assertive communication with others or getting carried away with ideas that have not been thoroughly thought out as our mind may be moving so fast.

At its best Mercury in Aries can provide us with a mental state that is optimistic, encouraging, on point and self-confident. At its worst Mercury in Aries can come across as rude, thoughtless, aggressive, impatient and without respect as we can sometimes forget to approach conversations in a thoughtful manner with others. Details can be missing in conversation as Aries is prone to streamlined thinking and communication and does not like to get bogged down in details.

Venus enters Taurus

March 16th, Venus changes signs and enters Taurus, one of the signs it rules along with Libra.

Venus in Taurus will be a significant change from self oriented Venus in Aries. Over the next few weeks there will be a greater focus on love, money, luxury items or beauty, beautiful things, relationships and personal as well as collective values. Venus is happy and lavish in this sign and you may feel a desire to surround yourself with richness on many different levels whether it is art, clothes, jewelry, calming music or rich food. Go ahead and enjoy the most basic of comforts: touch, smell, sensuality, beauty, comfort, relaxation and food. Venus in Taurus takes us back to the basics of life and we can indulge and luxuriate in the simpler things that make us the happiest on an inner level.

Now is the time to focus on relationships, and putting your emotions and feelings first, ahead of work or other heavy demands. This can be a relaxed time where we are focused most of all on the physical, the beautiful, and we can connected to the earth and outdoors and the beauty of spring as Taurus is an Earth sign. Plan a walk or hike, and get grounded by Mother Earth. Typically this is a great time for planting and getting your garden under control if you are inclined in this way. Taurus is typically considered fruitful and the best sign for planting whether it is a large country or urban garden or houseplants on a balcony or in a window.

By seeking pleasure in all of its most basic forms and with others this period typically embodies harmony and can be a beautiful, chilled out and relaxed period that won’t return again for another year. Enjoy this while it lasts because when Venus enters Gemini in late June our focus will change once again.

The Sun enters Aries

Happy New Year! March 20th the Sun enters Aries at 0 degrees. This is the spring equinox, the first day of spring and the astrological New Year as the Sun begins its 365 day trip once again around the zodiac and through all of the signs for another year. In the West we celebrate New Year’s January 1st. The Chinese celebrate on the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month, but for astrologers it’s when the Sun enters 0 degrees of Aries, the 1st sign of the zodiac.

During the Pisces season we are typically focused on merging with others to the extent we can typically overlook or not place the biggest emphasis on ourselves. When the Sun moves from Pisces into Aries we come back to what our own desires and needs are and how to go about meeting them. Often we begin new ventures and projects.

Aries is not only a Fire sign, but a Cardinal Fire sign which means Aries are ready to handle just about anything that comes their way. Cardinal signs are the natural leaders in life and like to be in the circle of movers and shakers. They typically exude confidence and don’t let grass grow under their feet. As the Sun enters Aries we will all take on more of these characteristics.

Aries is ruled by Mars, the planet of action and war. Mars is a take charge planet, and can be determined, brash, and assertive and always seeks movement or action. Aries cannot stand inertia or being bored.

Aries rules the first house of the zodiac or the self. When this happens we tend to be focused on our own needs, what we want to do and how we can get there. For this reason Aries is sometimes considered a selfish sign, so while we should seek to understand and act on our own needs, it is wise to remember that when interacting with others we need to consider their feelings as well.

Aries qualities include bravery, a take charge attitude, bold ideas and actions, confidence, enthusiasm, honesty, and passion. Aries main weaknesses are being short tempered, moody, impulsive and overly aggressive.

As Aries represents the beginning of the astrological cycle there is often a big emphasis on new starts, new beginnings, or seeing potential in new projects and situations. Like the spring flowers and vegetation that begin to grow, we too can start anew and plant our seeds for the rest of the year to come. Now is the time to take a direct, bigger and bold approach to what you would like to do or start and you may be surprised at how successful and convincing you can be to others.  Aries typically does not wait for around for things to happen, they make things happen. We all get a bit of the same take charge attitude becoming more focused and driven to make things happen.  Aries likes freedom and now is the time to enjoy just being you. This is the time of year to unleash yourself from all of the serious Capricorn energy we have experienced over the past several months and feel young and free. Youth is after all, more of a feeling than an age especially if you are over a certain age!

The less desirable side of Aries has to do with making decisions too fast and moving forward without thinking things through first. If this is the case however, we can review things and make appropriate change when the Sun moves into the more earthy and solid sign of Taurus April 20th.

Aries is sometimes accused of being overly aggressive or demanding but this comes from a desire to be straightforward and get things moving. Those who find this energy the most difficult are Water signs but Air and Fire signs should thrive on this energy.

At best the Fire energy of this sign can motivate and drive you toward working toward your goals whatever they may be. For some, this transit will involve feelings of new beginnings and new opportunities to take advantage of. You may feel emboldened to really be your true self and put your desires out there.

Your confidence will likely be inspired over the next month, even if you are normally a shy or retiring person. You probably won’t need the validations of others, as you will give it to yourself.

The Sun in Aries makes a significant aspect when it squares or clashes with Pluto on April 18th. Sun square Pluto aspects tend to be prone toward power struggles, change and breakdowns of all types including relationships. Arguments can ensure if you are not aware of the harsh energy this produces and this is not a day to push ultimatums. You need for control may seem more significant during this time, which is something to watch and be aware of. Significant change often occurs at this time with a great deal of work. It will likely be a heavy news day in the world.

Happy astrological New Year and Happy Birthday to Aries!

New Moon in Aries

This month’s New Moon falls at 0 degrees of Aries March 21st, a day after the Sun enters the same sign. 0 degrees of Aries is considered a critical degree as well as the ‘world point,’ so this is a day of important new beginnings on a personal and perhaps even global level.  This is considered a Cazimi moon which refers to a planet that is ‘in the heart’ of the Sun and these two are conjunct. This is a great time to start anything new-perhaps the best time of the ear-especially close to the peak of the New Moon at 1:23PM, EDT.

Mars (finally) enters Cancer after last Neptune square

Mars changes sign and moves into Cancer March 25th-May 20th after a 7 month stay in Gemini that included a retrograde.  As we begin the month Mars is still in it post retrograde “shadow period’ until March 16th. After the 16th it resumes normal speed but on March 14th, Mars squares Neptune for the 3rd of 3 passes. We will feel this energy however during the week before the aspect is exact and at least a week afterward. The last time this aspect occurred was October 11-19th and November 24-26. We could see reoccurring themes occur at this time.

Mars square Neptune is a confusing and tiring transit. Sometimes unusual or strange things happen on a transit like this, and at worst it can be associated with confusion, lies, misunderstandings and deceptive tactics. It is important to be completely above board and honest with this aspect as otherwise it could come back to bite you in the future. Some may feel discouraged, even hopeless and question what they are doing. If this is the case, this energy will pass in a few days and things are typically not as bad as they appear with this aspect.

Sometimes, when Mars squares Neptune there can be some type of revelation. If this happens, its best not to act too quickly as Neptune can confuse the issue and all may not be completely clear. The fog will lift as this aspect passes.

At times, this aspect can involve mysterious events and scandals. Neptune is associated with nuclear weapons and the oceans. This does not mean we are going to see nuclear destruction, but there is certainly talk of it these days with Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Lies and propaganda are common with this aspect.

For some, this could represent a type of spiritual transit that could involve compassion for others or artistic ventures. Dreams could be quite vivid as well as intuition. If you are a creative person, this should be a productive few days.

Mars in Cancer

Mars is the planet that rules our action collectively and individually. Cancer is the most emotional sign of the zodiac, and while Mars transits through Cancer our actions will be more emotionally driven as opposed to intellectually driven action since Mars has been in Gemini. Mars in this sign is considered at its fall, which means the energy does not operate comfortably and can in fact, misbehave, which means we can tend to misbehave in an overly emotionally manner if we get into a situation and feel pushed or stressed to that level. Mars in Cancer is in the Moon’s sign, and the Moon in astrology is changeable and emotional. Mars in this sign will work fairly well for Water and Earth signs but may be more difficult for Air and Fire signs.

While Mars is in Cancer we will be more concerned with issues that affect the home, family and our basic security and foundation, both on a personal level, and on the world stage. In astrology Mars rules the 4th house and opposes the 10th house or the sections of the horoscope that rule home, the homeland and our own personal security and stability which includes business/career.

Typically, Mars in Cancer is fiercely loyal and protective of family and those they love. You may feel more protective toward those closest to you and others may also come across as more nurturing during this transit. You may have a greater interest in helping family and extended family, or standing up for their rights as well as your own.

Expect emotions and feelings to run higher than normal while Mars transits through Cancer.  You may feel on top of the world one day, and then down in the dumps the next. Remember Mars in Cancer is in the Moons sign and the moon changes signs and mood every 24 hours! Our energy and action will be attached to the lunar cycles during this Mars period.

Feelings will become more important during this time. You may feel more inclined to express your emotions toward those you love, and others will feel the same.

Over the next 7 weeks expect to feel more connected or concerned with family/extended family and issues around the home. You may spend more time at home, and even entertain there more often. You could also paint, redecorate, look at or buy real estate. Many people sell and buy property with Mars in Cancer. This would be a good time to take cooking classes, do family genealogy, have family reunions or visit older family members.

Digging into home projects is a great use of energy at this time, cleaning out closets, cooking and bringing people into your kitchen-Cancer loves food and tends to nourish others through good food, wine and the comforts of home.

Mars in Cancer is not always direct-and we may take a more indirect route toward reaching our goals. If something does not seem to connect emotionally, we may forgo it or take a different route altogether.

Happy Spring 2023!

February 2022 astrology!

January flew by, and here we are already in the 2nd month of 2023!  This is the last month Saturn will be in Aquarius for the next 30 years; it will enter Pisces on March 7th. Pluto will also change signs next month although it will go back and forth from Capricorn to Aquarius for the next two years. Mars and Mercury are finally moving forward again, so we can expect the pace of things to pick up this month. The Sun transits through Aquarius and then Pisces, the last sign of winter. Mercury finishes up its looong cycle in Capricorn and then enters Aquarius. Venus transits through Pisces and Aries, and we have a powerful full moon in Leo on February 5th and a New moon in Pisces February 20th.

Note about Mars and the mass shootings in the US

While Mars turned direct January 12th, it did not begin to move forward until January 30th. When Mars is ‘stationary’ it is very powerful for better or worse. Mars rules guns, aggression and anger, and Mars was conjunct Uranus in the US natal chart nearly the entire month of January which is one reason we saw so many mass shootings as Mars+ Uranus=guns, firearms and explosions. As this blog is posted Mars has moved a degree or two but it is still moving slowly. This means if you have a Mars transit aspecting your chart, whatever ‘event,’ Mars brings about can be more significant than usual. Mars will be in its post retrograde ‘shadow period’ until March 17th, when things resume to normal.

In some ways February is the calm before the storm because in March we will experience massive energetic changes when Saturn enters Pisces and Pluto enters Aquarius.  Now, the details for February.

Full Moon in Leo February 5th

This month’s full moon falls in the sign Leo. Leo rules the 5th house of friends, love affairs and children. For many this will be a date night or time to get out, socialize and spend time with friends.

There are certain pitfalls to this moon, however. The Sun and the Moon oppose each other as they always do on a full moon, but this time both the Moon and the Sun square Uranus in Taurus forming a t-square which blends the energies of all three planets and signs. Transits involving Uranus can come across as shocking and unexpected. Uranus rules unexpected events, explosions and electricity to name a few. Plans can change unexpectedly, unusual things can happen, shocking events can occur and Uranus transits are all about freedom to act as you may choose. Divorces and separations can occur among other things. You could find yourself leaving an old job, relationship or any other number of situations that have outlived their purpose. Are you ready for change? Now, could be the time.

Venus squares Mars, exact on February 4th, but this becomes part of the full moon energy as well. While this may bring about some interesting rendezvous, it can also bring about jealousy, possessiveness, and issues with the opposite sex. This is pure sexual energy in many respects, but don’t depend on anything remaining secret at this time.

The Moon’s quincunx to Pluto can represent emotions that are hard to control, and can expose your deepest fears, secrets or worries.

This full moon is largely about love and relationships, but Leo represents royalty, the theatre and drama. You or others may feel more flamboyant at this time and we could hear news pertaining to the entertainment business, theatre, royalty and those connected to these occupations.

On the world stage, with Uranus in the picture we could hear unexpected news and/or potential change in stocks or commodities. We can expect to see a great deal of political grandstanding meant to gain attention.

Pluto at 29 degrees of Capricorn

This month, Pluto reaches the critical degree of 29 February 12th-March 22nd. When a planet reaches 29 degrees this is known as the ‘Anaretic degree.’ The Anaretic degree is associated with a sense of urgency or a last ditch effort to wrap up or accomplish something. There is often a feeling of having only a short time to correct things. This can result into jumping into something you aren’t ready or prepared for without giving it enough forethought. Decision making can be affected adversely as can critical thinking.  Some astrologers believe that when a planet hits the 29th degree it can coincide with situations that have gone too far an individual to have control over any situation this planet is affecting.  Either way, if something is occurring that involves a planet at the 29th degree of any sign, critical thinking and keeping your feet on the ground becomes extremely important.

The 29th degree can also coincide with endings such as divorce, breakups, job change or loss and the like. Pluto rules the collective so we will see many significant events this month around the globe and in our personal lives, especially if Pluto aspects something in your chart at this degree.

Pluto will return to 29 degrees several more times this year and next as it goes back and forth from Aquarius to Capricorn.

Mercury enters Aquarius February 11th

Mercury will remain in the sign that rules the collective from February 11-March 2nd.

Mercury in Capricorn has been focused on serious matters, work, career, success and matters of priority. Mercury rules our mind, thinking, and the way we communicate with others and process information. During Mercury’s transit through Aquarius we may all be a little more open minded and receptive to new ideas than normal so expect Mercurial energies to change!

Aquarius is known for its quirky, wild and weird side as well as its intellectual, inventive and eccentric nature. The sign Aquarius is associated with the 11th house of astrology which rules the collective, as well as groups and organizations. The planetary rulers of Aquarius are Saturn and Uranus.

Uranus rules new, cutting edge types of concepts and with Mercury in this sign you may be able to expand your ideas and approaches and come up with more original ways of focusing on projects at work. In this way you may be able to benefit from Mercury’s transit through this most intellectual and logical of signs.

Go bold this month and if you can tap into this energy, you could have flashes of intuition that could lead to new ways of looking at things and new approaches to your work. Uranus-Aquarius is associated with concepts that may seem off the grid but later resulting in innovations that become the future norm. Don’t be afraid to try out your ideas within your group or team, as Mercury-Aquarius works well if not best within groups and the collective.

The Sun enters Pisces

The Sun transits through Pisces February 18-March 2. Pisces is the mutable and last sign of winter when we can feel spring beginning to approach. Most of us are dying to leave winter behind which will happen when the Sun enters Aries on March 20th.

Pisces is the final sign in the zodiac that rules the 12th house which is connected to endings, places of seclusion and the unconscious mind. This part of the zodiac is considered the realm of the unknown that also governs things like secrets, dreams and magic.  At times this house can represent secret enemies or clandestine affairs or relationships that remain secret and hidden.

Pisces is a sensitive water sign, whose planetary rulers are Jupiter and Neptune. Jupiter is the planet of gain and expansion and Neptune rules the oceans, intuition, psychics, dreams, drugs or alcohol, spirituality, and lies or deception along with self-deception. Neptune can represent beautiful dreams and inspiration or it can cause you to sink to the lowest of emotional depths. This is represented by the Pisces image which depicts two fish swimming in opposite directions.

When we enter the Pisces season get ready to feel more, be more emotional, and dream bigger. You may feel more intuitive, creative and tuned in to others. You become more interested in movies and art, or anything that can allow you to escape reality for the moment. Now will be the time to go with the flow and perhaps not follow a rigid schedule because like water, Pisces like to flow along at its own pace.

Compassion is a Pisces trait and you may feel more of this for others, or you could even become engaged in a cause you feel strongly about over the next month. Pisces typically have a way of calming and helping others in moments of crisis, and these individual have a tender and helpful spirit. Pisces is also connected to religion and during this season we frequently hear news concerning the Catholic Church in some way.

With the Pisces connection to the last part of the zodiac or the twelfth house many things may end during this time, or you could be wrapping up certain projects in preparation of new ones.

On the downside, Pisces can represent confusion, illusion and delusion as Neptune is one if it’s rulers. Communication may be misunderstood, not conveyed correctly or those communicating may be much more indecisive than usual. You may have a hard time making up your mind what to do concerning many things. If this is the case, don’t push things.  Pisces does not like to be pushed or rushed but rather to flow at its own pace naturally.

Every season is what you make of it and this is the time of the year to relax some, tune into your own psyche and intuition and dare to dream bigger dreams. Pisces is an excellent time for readings, or any type of spiritual or metaphysical study.  When the Aries season begins it will be time to turn your dreams into reality and make them real. So, now is time to experience your own feelings and get in touch with what it is you truly desire, so during the Aries season your can act more directly on it.

Venus enters Aries February 19th

Venus enters Aries February 19th-March 15th. Aries represents new beginnings and a bolder, more assertive and active approach to love.

While it transits through Aries, Venus is in Mars sign and will signal greater passions, energy and action directed toward our love lives. We may feel more assertive in connecting with those we are attracted to and want to get to know better, and seek a fresher, more exciting approach with those we are already involved with.

Venus in Aries will work especially well for Fire and Air signs. Aries energy is enthusiastic and upbeat, and Aries loves the chase to the point of sometimes being more interested in the pursuit than a relationship once a connection is established.

This energy does not work well with those who like to cling, and neither does suspicion, mistrust and jealousy, as these are qualities Aries typically abhors. Flirting comes naturally to Venus Aries, and is typically daring, adventurous, and independent. As Aries rules the first house of self, the expression of love in this sign can be ‘me’ centered but with a certain charm that can come across as innocence.

The downside of this sign is impatience, immaturity, brashness and self centeredness.  For a relationship to last longer than the chase there must be plenty of new stimulation and excitement on a regular basis. Competition is a familiar concept to Aries, but this is not something that turns everyone on. Aries often operates on whims without thinking things through completely. If it comes down to putting self or the feelings of their partner first, Aries-Venus is prone to protect their own feelings and interests first.

Attracting Venus in Aries involves the powerful need for passion and action. This sign does not like game playing, evasiveness or coyishness. Aries is fine with competition, affection and sexuality, and are quick to react to others one way or another. Venus in this sign can be too demanding of others, and their directness is not appreciated by everyone.

Venus in Aries only happens once a year and now is the time to embrace your ability to be bold, adventurous, sexy and confident. You may be surprised at how bold and direct you feel over this next month and you may surprise others as well. And don’t forget that above all else, Venus in Aries loves fun, playfulness and adventure.  Can you really resist?

New Moon in Pisces February 20th

This month’s New moon falls in Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac. Pisces energy is soft, romantic and prone toward compassion and spirituality.

This Moon makes no aspects but Mercury squares Uranus which will not complete until the next day. Mercury-Uranus aspects lean toward unexpected news, nervousness, mental changeable and sudden ideas that may strike like lightening and leave just as suddenly. Be careful driving with this transit because it can cause a loss of focus and nervousness. The Sabian symbol for 1 degree of Pisces says, “In a crowded market farmers and middlemen display a great variety of products.

Other transits of significance

February 3rd, the Sun squares Uranus at 14 degrees of Aquarius-Taurus. Squares to Uranus are typically associated with change and sudden and unexpected events, especially if this hits a planet in your chart. Sometimes the markets fluctuate on transits like this, and it will be a changeable day. We can expect significant events in the world, and this will be part of the Full moon energy February 5th.

February 7-8th, Venus sextiles Uranus. This is a positive aspect, prone to trying something new in your social life. You could meet someone unexpectedly.

February 10th, Mercury conjuncts Pluto-This aspect is argument prone and indicative of those who try and force their ideas on others. In other words, propaganda on the world stage and in our own lives. This is a day where your mind may be focused on something that is hard to let go of, or you may be searching or digging for answers to something.

February 14th-Happy Valentine’s Day!  There are no major aspects this day but the Moon is in free spirited and fun loving Sagittarius!  The first part of the day, the Moon trines expansive Jupiter creating a positive, upbeat and happy type of energy. Tap into this energy and make the most of it because by evening (9PM, EDT) the Moon opposes Mars. While this aspect is sometimes associated with being busy, for many it can lead to emotional hurts, upsets and even anger. Channel this energy carefully into some physical activity or plans for the night with activities that you enjoy. And remember that while many couples enjoy this day, it is in all reality a Hallmark holiday. Love takes many forms everyday, and must begin with ourselves.

February 15th, Venus conjuncts Neptune-This aspect can represent different things to different people. For some, this is a time of reverie and soft lights, but for others this is an aspect of confusion and delusion especially where love and money are concerned. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

February 16th, the Sun conjuncts Saturn-This aspect occurs once a year and is prone to drag. Negativity and tiredness can be common manifestations, but it can also coincide with important matters and projects. We generally see significant news with this aspect.

February 21st, Mercury squares Uranus-This is an aspect prone to nervousness or restlessness. We can hear unexpected news or mental changeability. Use caution while driving.

What's happening in California with the mass shootings?

With 3 mass shootings since the weekend,’ what’s going on in California’ is a topic that has been on my mind and as well as others.

A quick look at the chart (California) showed me that Mercury is square Mars (and Mercury) in the 12th house. The 12th house rules subversives as well as hospitals, jails, crime and asylums.

When Mercury is stationing, either direct or retrograde it is moving very slowly if at all. While Mercury turned direct January 18th, it is still moving very slowly. When a retrograde planet moves this slowly the affect lasts longer and the incidents that occur can be significant when it aspects other planets. Mercury typically rules young people and Mars rules men as well as guns. Mercury will remain in a square to Mars and Mercury in the birth chart of California for at least the rest of this week.

Pluto is making its way through the 3rd house of the California chart which rules neighborhoods. Pluto is a destructive force as anybody who has experienced a significant and harsh Pluto aspect will tell you. Pluto is said to ‘destroy, so it can rebuild in a better way.” Pluto is square Uranus and Pluto in the California chart, and Pluto is associated with crime, gangs, criminals and ‘the underworld.” Pluto will be back and forth in this position for the next 2 years. That said, it does not appear to me crime and violence will get any better in California over the next several years. Perhaps Pluto’s entrance into Aquarius for 20 years beginning in 2025 will change the situation some, but it appears to me even then, problems will persist for at least a while.

I wish I had more positive news to report, but the chart is simply what it is.

Mercury direct; The New Year really begins!

Mercury turns direct January 18th, at 8:12 AM, EST. This is good news but when Mercury stations to go direct, things can go haywire once again before really straightening out, so it could get slightly more confusing before it gets better.

Mercury stationing to turn retrograde or go direct are the two key times when we may experience Mercury’s changeable if not disruptive energy. It will take the planet of communication a few days before things start to really level out.

A planet changing direction becomes very powerful, especially if it is aspecting something else in the sky, or in your personal chart and Mercury is no exception. If Mercury turned retrograde hitting a specific point in your chart you may have experienced delays, unexpected issues or other problems. By the same token, if Mercury turns direct and is hitting something in a positive angle in your chart as it turns direct you can expect to move forward in some significant way.

One way of looking at it is that Mercury has been asleep at the wheel for three weeks and it will take a little time before it totally wakes up and gets back to normal.

As Mercury begins its direct motion on Wednesday, called its ‘stationary direct’ phase things aren’t really clear yet, and there may be more surprises in store. Alternatively you may feel inspired, but keep your feet firmly planted on the ground and you know what they say if something seems too good to be true. Make sure you are dealing with facts.

Mercury comes back to life slowly and does not actually begin to move forward for another 5 days or until January 23rd.

Mars turned direct after a nearly 3 month retrograde on January 12th. At this time Mars is also in its stationary direct period and won’t move forward again until January 25th. If Mars is aspecting something in your chart, this is also a powerful time.

It’s an exciting time with both of these planets going direct but we need to be just a little more patient and things will soon pick up steam. This is when the New Year will really begin!

The most significant transits of 2023!

Mars and Mercury turn direct in January

The first several weeks of January are not the time to start new projects, or begin new ventures as both Mars and Mercury are still retrograde and things may be delayed, confused and a little screwy the first half of the month.

Mars turns direct January 12th, at 8 degrees of Gemini. When the ‘God of War’ stations to move forward we can expect an energy shift and things may change direction once again depending on what Mars is doing in your personal chart. When a planet ‘stations’ to retrograde or move forward the energy is powerful and intense, especially if it aspects something in your chart. By the 19th, both planets are direct but don’t go out and buy a car or make major decisions just yet. Sometimes the energy changes again as Mercury stations direct and more information becomes available. Give it at least a week for the dust to settle and we will all begin moving forward once again!

Jupiter transits through Aries and Taurus

Jupiter re-entered Aries on December 20th where it will remain until May 16th.Aries is a fire sign that likes action and movement. Aries rules the first house of self, so we can expect to put a great deal of focus on accomplishing our personal desires, as will everyone else.  Expect things to move quickly, and we may lose patience when they don’t. Jupiter dipped its toes into Aries last year May 10-October 28th. This should be a great year for Aries and all Fire signs unless something else in the chart negates it. If this is the case, Jupiter will still be a great help and benefit.

Jupiter enters Taurus May 16th and will remain here until May 25th, 2024. Taurus rules the 2nd house of money and its planetary ruler is Venus, the planet of love, values and money.  With Jupiter in this sign we can expect many people to be interested in relationships and this is a good sign for finances at least part of its cycle in 2023. During it’s time in Taurus, Jupiter will connect with Venus and Jupiter in the US chart which is promising for finances and women. Since it will sextile the Sun (in the US chart) in early fall this could bode well for the President.  You will see growth and expansion depending on where transiting Jupiter falls in your personal chart.

When Jupiter enters Taurus it will square Pluto in Aquarius. This will relate to political turmoil, arrogance and potentially money, the financial markets, big plans and large ambitions. Now could be the time to make many changes that you have planned. Don’t take shortcuts to success as Jupiter’s square will drive ambition but Pluto can be connected with criminality or trouble with the legal system at worst. On the world stage this aspect will represent extremists.

Jupiter’s sextile to Saturn in June can bring great progress and success, especially if this is aspecting something in your own chart such as your Sun.

Saturn enters Pisces March 7, 2023-February 14, 2026

It is always a significant time when Saturn changes signs. Pisces is ruled by planets Jupiter and Neptune and the last time Saturn transited this sign was March 22, 1993-April 8, 1996. For the next 2 and a half years Saturn will transit the part of your chart that Pisces rules. As Pisces rules the 12th house of the zodiac this transit of Saturn will bring about many endings, but this does not mean it is bad or negative as some things need to end.

This will become even more pronounced when Saturn and Neptune meet up which they will in both the sign of Pisces and Aries as well in 2025.

All of this means the confusion we are all experiencing in certain ways may become more pronounced during this time. Saturn squared Neptune in 2016 This period saw the rise of ‘fake news stories,’ Russian interference in the Presidential election in terms of false ads on Face book and other social media outlets along with trolling.

Saturn will conjunct Neptune in Aries May-June of 2025, and then in Pisces the latter part of 2025. These transits will bring about significant confusion and shifts in the collective that can dissolve boundaries, which Neptune is known for.

Pluto at 29 degrees of Capricorn

The 29th degree of any planet is considered the anaretic degree, and is considered a degree of crisis. At time we may feel there is one last chance to accomplish what we need to do. Pluto will hit this degree February 12-March 23rd, June 12-July 28th, and December 29th-January 21st, 2024. It will return to the 29th degree several times in 2024 before entering Aquarius at the end of 2024 for the next 20 years. This year it will travel back and forth between the two signs. For some, the 29th degree may be a significant turning point in life.

Pluto rules plutocrats while in Capricorn and in this sign they are at the top. This will change as Pluto transits through Aquarius, the sign of the people.

Pluto enters Aquarius

Perhaps the most significant change for us personally and collectively is Pluto’s entrance into Aquarius on March 23rd. The 0 degree of any planet is known as the ‘world point,’ meaning events occur that we are interested in on a personal as well as global basis. Pluto will only be in Aquarius for three months this year or until June 11th, when Pluto will retrograde back into Capricorn but this will give us a taste of what’s to come for the next 2 decades.

Aquarius is also ruled by Saturn like the sign Capricorn, but Aquarius’s co-ruler is Uranus, the planet of sudden and unexpected change. Pluto rules the collective, and it is the planet of total transformation. As the world changes, we too are asked to change, and the change depends on the area of your chart, Pluto transits and the aspects it makes in your chart.

Pluto rules the 11th house of the collective. This will be vastly different from Pluto in Capricorn which rules big business, and Plutocrats at the top. Aquarius rules us, the people. This will be seen in the populations across the globe as ‘the people’ rise up against dictatorial regimes and governments that don’t have their interest at heart. This does not mean we will live in a perfect world, or that change will come overnight since this planet is in Aquarius for the next 20 years.

Aquarius is the sign of groups, the internet and innovation which will increase dramatically during Pluto’s tour in this sign.

The last time Pluto transited Aquarius was 1778-1798, and experienced major transformation in the US and the world. This cycle saw the rise and fall of King George 111, and Marie Antoinette, and the French Revolution. I will write much more about this as Pluto gets closer to Aquarius.

The lunar nodes change signs

July 18th, the lunar nodes change from the axis of Taurus/Scorpio to Aries/Libra for the next 18 months. At the time of this post we have nearly 6 more months of the nodes in Scorpio/Taurus.

Our collective as well as personal destiny is shown in the North and South Nodes. These are not planets but calculated points in the chart. Everyone is born with both a North and South node, which show us where we are headed as a collective. Both nodes tell a story regarding our fate and destiny; the North node is where we are headed and the South node shows us what we need to leave behind or release. While the North Node is the ideal of what we hope to achieve, the South Node is what can hold us back.

When the North Node enters Aires (South node in Libra) we will be called to balance our own personal interests versus the interests of others in society as well as partnership issues. We will be asked to find a new direction between ourselves as individuals versus our relationships and personal/social networks.
