June 2014: a walk between two worlds-redo and reconsider

As we begin the sixth month of the year Mercury is in its shadow period preparing to go stationary retrograde on June 7, at 7:57 A.M., EST. Many people ask me, 'is it ok to buy a car on the 5th, or can I redo my website as long as it's done by the 6th, or etc, ect, etc., you get the idea. Basically the answer is no. Of course we are all free to do as we choose, but start a new project, buy a large or high ticket item, get married, or engaged just before the retrograde and you will somehow pay the price on down the road.

One year I was having my roof replaced and it kept getting postponed. Finally the roofers could come just before the retrograde. Of course, I knew better, but it seemed to be out of my hands as things can sometimes be. They completed the roof days later, and lo and behold...it was not the color I picked! It was supposed to be good for 20 years and as I write this blog I am reminded the tiles are curling as we speak. That was 5 years ago, so if you roll the dice, you take your chances But, sometimes we do what we have to. If you are offered a job and need one don't turn it down!

Mercury is in Cancer as we begin the month and goes stationary retrograde at 3 degrees of Cancer between June 7-9. The stationary retrograde period is where glitches occur, Mercurial energy changes, and we become aware certain things aren't working properly. Cancer is the most emotional of signs and thinking and conversation will become more emotional as opposed to intellectual. On June 17, Mercury retrogrades back into Gemini where it will spend the rest of the month. With Mercury retrograde in this sign be careful when you hit send on your computer as you could embarrass yourself sending the wrong message to the wrong person. Communication may be so fast it is hard to keep up with.

Mercury goes stationary direct, the next most important period July 1-5, and is followed by another shadow period that will actually last until July 16. At this point it is back to 3 degrees of Cancer, where we left off and things can get back to normal.

Mercury retrograde typically lasts for three weeks on average and while things break and get postponed it is the natural cycle of life and serves a purpose. It is the time to reflect, re-do and reconsider so there is no point in getting upset or worried about it.

Often we reconnect with those from our past. Some relationships end and others break up, and Mercury retrograde has a fated quality to it. If a situations ends during this period it is generally supposed to end. It can go either way, but endings are often final.

Neptune, the planet of illusion, delusion and confusion goes stationary retrograde on June 9, at 3:51 P.M., EST-.November 16. This will bring about more acute sensitivity on an inner level and we may be able to pick up on those things we don't perceive when Neptune is direct. We are more likely to be listening to our own inner voice during this time and creativity and psychic or intuitive abilities may be increased.

If transiting Neptune aspects a planet in your chart during this period we tend to become self deluding, depressed, or overly idealistic. Others may deceive us as well. It is important to be as grounded as possible during these times if you are experiencing a Neptune transit like this, especially a harsh one. Neptune transits can go on for several years and if ever your feet need to be planted on firm soil it is now if you have such a transit.

June's full moon occurs June 13, at 12: 11 A.M., EST at 22 degrees of Sagittarius.

Sagittarius is the natural ruler of the ninth house of travel, education, legal and medical matters and our world views. In some way we will all be concerned with all of some of these matters.

Venus opposes Saturn and this is not a kind transit for relationships, nor is it the most positive time for social activities. If your relationship is tottering on thin ice, this full moon could signal an end. Love will not come easy, but if your relationship is sound it will survive. Feelings could be hurt, plans cancelled and if so, it could be for the best. Endings of many types, not just relationships can occur now and this is not a good day for important meetings.

Mars squares Pluto at 12 degrees of Libra-Capricorn and this is a volatile and angry transit concerned with power struggles, change and transformation, and in some cases joint finances, money or struggling to make something work. This marks the final time this transit  will take place, the previous aspects occurring April 26-27 and January 2-4. If these dates were important to you  best to pay attention to this full moon and treat it with respect. This is going to be a heck of a full moon!

Mars will once again set off the effects of the grand cross over the next few weeks and events that occur will be large and play out in the world. No doubt we will see military action, violence, negative financial situations, endings, and this will affect the chart of the United States, Putin, and may be reminiscent of events that occurred in April, especially with Mercury retrograding. Situations that were not resolved may come back to haunt us now as a collective.

June 18,  Venus sextiles Jupiter bringing a moment of peace before the next Mars transit and this is a far more positive day for love and social activities.

June 21, the Sun enters Cancer and we can welcome summer as it officially begins at 6:51 A.M., EST.

June 23, Venus enters Gemini, changing the love energy once more sending us into a mode of thinking and analyzing our relationships for the next few weeks.

June 25, Mars opposes Uranus for the third time, at 16 degrees of Libra-Aries setting off events in the world and in our lives if it is aspecting your chart. This previously occurred April 15-17, and January 12-13,  so if these dates are important to you there may be unfinished business that occurs now.

Again we will see large events occur in the world and Mars-Uranus is indicative of explosive situations, explosions, and events that seem to come out of the blue. Events that occurred around this transit in April include the abduction of 200 plus schoolgirls in Nigeria, the start of the Ukraine crisis, threats toward America by al-Qaeda, and on April 16, the N. Korean ferry overturned killing 300 children.

The above mentioned several dates involving Mars are of major significance as this month they will make the third and final pass or hit to major outer planets as they did when the grand cross was exact in April and earlier in January when Mars was retrograde. Now, Mars will repeat these transits one more time. Mars will remain in Libra until July 26, when it finally enters Scorpio having spent almost half the year in Libra due to the retrograde! The only other hard aspect Mars will make in this sign will be July 19, when it squares the Sun in Cancer. Mars is still in it shadow direct period until July 21.

June's new moon occurs June 27, at 5 degrees of Cancer at 4:06 A.M, EST. This is the first new moon of the summer, and Cancer is the natural ruler of the fourth house of home and family, and it is here our attention will be focused.

June 29, Venus squares Neptune and this  transit can have a dual affect. On one hand we can think of romance and soft lights and pleasantries, and on the other hand this can be a confusing transit rife with misunderstandings, mixed signals and confused relationships. My advice is to enjoy the day and don't take anything too seriously, especially new relationships and let anything that occurs today withstand the test of time.
