September 2025; Saturn's last dance in Pisces and eclipses!

This month we will experience 2 eclipses in Pisces and Virgo. The Sun leaves Virgo for Libra and fall arrives on the 22nd! Mercury transits through a total of 3 signs and Venus leaves Leo for Virgo. Mars leaves Libra for Scorpio and Uranus retrogrades joining the rest of the outer planets now in retrograde. Saturn returns to Pisces and we have 2 eclipses!  Let’s look at the details:

This month Saturn re-enters Pisces for one final stretch September 1st, returning to Aries February 15th, 2026 giving us 5 more months with Saturn in Pisces. Saturn has been in Aries since May 26th showing us a preview of what this sign will be about from February 2026-April 2028.

Pisces and Aries couldn’t be any more different. Pisces is a water sign that rules the 12th house of endings and Aries is a Fire sign that rules the 1st house or beginnings and is ruled by Mars, the God of War. Pisces is ruled by Neptune, the planet of spirituality, creativity and delusion along with Jupiter the planet of expansion. The sign Pisces can be a double edged sword both confusing on the low end and spiritually uplifting on the other as evidenced by its sign of two fish swimming in opposite directions.

Pisces represents endings and Aries represents new beginnings. Basically we will be going back to the energy we experienced from March of 2023 until May of this year when Saturn returns to Pisces. What have we learned and what have we lost since May?

Saturn is considered at its fall in Aries which means the energy can be difficult to work with and it struggles to express its natural qualities in the most positive of ways while Saturn in Pisces is not debilitated. Additionally, Saturn/Aries is ruled by Mars, the God of War which makes it not only more assertive but more aggressive as evidenced by the events in the world since Saturn entered Aries in May.

Saturn will re-enter Pisces at 29 degrees and any planet at 29 degrees is considered a critical degree so we can expect major events to occur at this time. This degree can be fraught with turmoil and it represents the end of a period and the beginning of a new time.

Saturn will retrograde back to 25 degrees of Pisces at the end of October until late December and turns direct in late November at 25 degrees Pisces and starts to move forward once again

When Saturn is retrograde we tend to go back to past issues to resolve and the planets influence shifts from external forces to internal matters and thinking which prompts reflection of our goals and where we are going both personally and globally. Saturn turned retrograde July 13th.

Eclipses in Pisces/Virgo

The first of the fall eclipses falls at 15 degrees of Pisces. Pisces is the natural ruler of the 12th house of endings and its planetary rulers are Jupiter and Neptune. Eclipses can be like wildcards and often coincide with unexpected events and major changes in our lives. This is a total lunar eclipse which is like a full moon on steroids visible from the eastern Hemisphere but not North or South America.

Pisces eclipses are often linked with 12th house matters; endings, seclusion and spirituality along with things that are hidden and often come to light during an eclipse. Pisces is extremely sensitive and emotions may be deeply felt at this time.

While Pisces can be a romantic sign some relationships may fall away or end if they are tottering on the edge. Pisces can find its own magical version of reality and is deeply intuitive and artistic. Pisces is associated with dreams both literal and metaphysical so don’t be surprised if you don’t experience more vivid dreams and a desire to dive into the sometimes magical energy that Pisces can represent .

In the US chart this eclipse falls in the 3rd house of communications, neighborhoods, infrastructure and the means by which information is delivered such as newspapers, postal services, the nations media, roads and railways. The moon squares Mars in the 6th house which rules the military, workers, civil service and public health, all of which will be affected to some extent in the US. Neptune/Pisces have been associated with infectious diseases and unfortunately measles has made a comeback due to vaccine disinformation and other diseases may be coming back as well . Covid was one of the major world events during Neptune’s cycle in Pisces which will also be finishing up in the next 6 months. That said, I am not predicting a pandemic but it is important to follow those who keep us updated on factual medical information.

Moon-Mars transits usually denote anger and upset among the general population. This eclipse makes a significant aspect in the chart of US President Donald Trump as it squares his natal Sun/Uranus in his chart from the 7th house. This can relate to unexpected events and actions and surprising actions from those he may consider partners. It also squares his Sun which represents the vital core and in people of a certain age can at times relate to health matters.

Pisces and Neptune are often connected to water related weather events and Pisces rules the worlds’ oceans.

It is important to remember that the energy of an eclipse begins at least 30 days before and after so events connected to this eclipse will continue to play out in months to come.

Solar eclipse in Virgo September 21st

Eclipses come in pairs so the September 7th lunar eclipse is followed by a solar eclipse at 29 degrees of Virgo on September 23rd. Virgo rules the 6th house opposite the 12th so these 2 eclipses set off the 6th/12th house axis. The 6th house rules health, work and service to others so we need to watch health related matters personally and globally and see a Dr if there is a concern.

Virgo is ruled by Mercury the planet of communitarian, commerce young people and travel so communication will be important at this time.

The 29th degree and 0 degrees are considered anaretic degrees which means they are associated with karmic situations and intense experiences that can indicate turning points or even endings as discussed already. 29 degrees is also considered a peak before a new cycle begins. Not only is the eclipse at 29 degrees it opposes Saturn along with the Sun at 29 degrees. Mars is in Libra at 29 degrees as well so it looks like this is an eclipse that can bring substantial events in our lives and the world.

The Sun-Moon opposing Saturn can be negative, repressive, tiring and critical. Some relationships may end that could include business, romantic or otherwise along with relationships on the world stage. When the anaretic degree is involved whatever ends does not come back. If you have been living and viewing the world though rose colored glasses they may come off at the time of the Virgo eclipse.

Saturn also opposes Neptune with this eclipse. Saturn-Neptune transits can be connected with sneaky, behind door situations where information only comes out after the fact. It can also deal with confusion, delusion, lies and looking at things in a harshly realistic manner.

The Sun opposes Saturn September 20th, the day before the eclipse so expect events connected to this eclipse to start occurring earlier. Sun-Saturn is a tiring, negative aspect that is prone toward feelings of restriction and delays.

Since Mars enters Scorpio 12 hours after the lunar peak this becomes part of the eclipse energy as well. Mars-Pluto transits are associated with cruelty, violence, war, police and military events. This is one of the darker Mars aspects so use care. This will play out in the world in a significant way. At times this can be connected to financial matters and money.

You will be affected to a greater degree by this eclipse if you have planets in Gemini, Virgo, Pisces or Sagittarius in the late degrees.

September 6th Uranus turns retrograde until February 4th, 2026

Uranus retrogrades every year for about 5 months, but this is nothing like retrograde Mercury that can create chaos, communication problems and general disruption.

Unless you have a Uranus transit aspecting your personal chart, you may hardly even notice it, although the retrograde of this planet often coincides with significant world events that can happen on a large scale and this time in particular since it occurs just before an eclipse. Uranus is in Gemini but will retrograde back into the sign Taurus November 9th and turns direct in this sign at 27 degrees February 4th, 2026. It will not re-enter Gemini again until April 28, 2026 and will remain in this sign until May 2033.

The retrograde of Uranus is associated with inner change as opposed to outer changes in your life. We tend to make inner change during this time that will allow us more success in the outside world when the planet turns direct. The retrograde period can usher in more self awareness and ability to understand issues on a deeper level and it is typically easier to face any changes we need to make at this time. If you have been struggling in some way this may give you an opportunity to begin to heal and look for original solutions to standing problems as Uranus is the most innovative of planets.

Uranus is associated with freedom, often ‘freedom at any cost.’ This is why Uranus is associated with break ups, breaking free of things we find oppressive and divorce. This typically only occurs however, if Uranus is making a specific harsh aspect in your own chart or the chart of the person you are involved with.

If major change occurs under retrograde Uranus it will ultimately be for the better, even if it doesn’t seem this way at the time. Uranus is said to clear away the ‘dead wood’ in our lives or those things that have outlived their purpose so new doors and experiences can soon present themselves.

Mercury enters Virgo September 2-18

Mercury is the planetary ruler of both Gemini and Virgo. While Mercury in Gemini is associated with quick responses, intelligence, and communication about a many different ideas, Mercury in Virgo communication and thinking is geared more toward facilitating ideas, analyzing information and presenting facts in a straight forward and factual manner.

Gemini may reach out for information of all types and go in different directions but Virgo hones in on what is most important and puts that information to practical use. While both signs rule Mercury, they each have a very different approach and purpose.

Virgo is very discerning and is often considered lazar focused. The downside to Mercury in Virgo is that at times it can be so discerning one can become lost in details, overly critical or picky, and this can be misinterpreted (or not). It is important to remember that while constructive criticism is one thing, Virgo can get caught up in being so overly critical, others are turned off. Most of the time however, Virgo’s true intent is just to get things right.

Mercury enters Libra September 18-October 7th

Mercury/Libra likes to find balance and please others but this energy is known as being changeable. Libra is a rational sign that likes to weigh all options. Since Mercury/Libra has the ability to see things from all viewpoints, Libra -Mercury can seem indecisive, but most of the time it is really just a careful consideration of all options and viewpoints that may appear indecisive.

Libra has an innate sense of fairness and a reputation of being the peacemaker.  Bear in mind, the symbol for Libra is the scales of justice.

Mercury in Libra is typically diplomatic, charming, smooth, flirty and sympathetic. On the more negative end Libra can be indecisive, procrastinators, people pleasers at any cost and over-intellectualizing of certain subjects.

Mercury in this sign has the ability to see the big picture with great clarity. It is also a Cardinal sign which means change can occur due to active assertion of ideas or action.

September 19- October 13 Venus enters Virgo

Venus is the goddess of love and money and while in this sign has somewhat of a soiled reputation among astrologers as it is considered ‘at its fall.’ In layman’s terms this means the energies of Venus and Virgo are not especially compatible.

Virgo is a somewhat critical earth sign. There is a picky side to Virgo and while in this sign others (or you) can come across as overly critical and demanding. You may feel as though you are trying to help others help themselves and could blow things out of proportion, or your desire to help may be misunderstood so it is important to remember during Virgo’s transit most will ask for help if they feel they need it. Hurt feelings can arise if Virgo’s critical nature gets the upper hand.

With Venus in Virgo you may pay more attention to personal habits of others. Getting into a car for example, that is full of trash may be a real turn off, along with sloppy clothes, hair, nails or anything of this kind. During this time you will appreciate common sense and punctuality more than at other times, something Virgo excels at.

During Venus’s transit through Virgo we express our love in practical ways. Just being there or doing something that is helpful

Virgo can be a great helpmate, loyal friend or lover and you may be in no rush to begin a mad, passionate affair but go more slowly getting to know the true nature of your love interest.

Virgo can be warm, giving and interested in matters relating to day to day living with your significant other as opposed to wild fantasies and passion. Not that Virgo can’t be passionate but it may take some time to get there.

Venus in Virgo may not be the fieriest or most intense period in your love life, but Virgo has several qualities that cannot be denied namely integrity, warmth and compassion. These are powerful qualities connected to this sign along with warmth, concern and caring. Virgo has a natural healing ability as well. There is a lot to be said for Virgo’s calm, reasonable, protective and healing nature, especially considering the trying times we are experiencing. Coming home to a quiet dinner with someone who cares about your day can go a lot further in the end than someone who is all about flash and doesn’t really care how you are feeling about your life, so make the most of Venus in Virgo while she is in this often misunderstood sign.

The Sun enters Libra or fall solstice

The Sun enters Libra one day after the solar eclipse occurs or September 22nd where it remains for the next month. Libra is the sign that rules the 7th house of marriage, partnerships and courts and Libra’s ruling planet is Venus. Venus is concerned with money, beauty, love and values and our energies will be focused on relationships and others during this time, or alternatively you could meet someone new that becomes significant. Either way we will all be thinking more about relationships over the next month.

Make plans to socialize this month to the extent you can but don’t overbook yourself and then flake out. This can be the downside of Libra along with procrastination and a difficult time making up your mind. Libra can get so caught up in the pursuit of fairness, justice and looking at things from a detached angle they sometimes never get where they want to go by over thinking every point of view they encounter.

Since Libra is a Cardinal Air sign thoughts and ideas at this time will be large, and somewhat detached. Air signs are the thinkers and don’t like to slow down most of the time. Cardinal signs are the leaders and initiators and like forward movement. Libra does not like arguments, ugly comments, sordid situations or cruelty. The big clash you were expecting to have with your new boss or your best friend may no longer seem so important after all and you could find yourself taking a more peaceful approach. With Libra, people want to feel the love most of all.

You may find yourself getting more annoyed with anything that does not contribute to your own personal harmony, and may want to eliminate those who create drama or trauma in your life. The Libra season will be time to take a look at who is in your life, why they are there, and whether your own needs are being fulfilled in the most important relationships you have. The Libra season is a time to relax, socialize and spend time with those most important. Since Venus is Libra’s ruler, beauty and beautiful things may seem more important and desirable this month, along with art, jewelry, clothes and anything else that beautifies the environment you live in.

Mars enters Scorpio September 22-November 4th

Mars is the action planet and is connected to the way we approach things. Mars in Scorpio is considered powerful and Mars is one of the rulers of Scorpio giving it harmony with this sign.

Scorpio is a fixed sign, so energy does not move quickly like it did in Libra; a Cardinal sign. Mars-Scorpio will give us the ability to have more tenacity, and get to the bottom of things faster.

As Mars transits through Scorpio we may experience a drive to change or transform something in our lives whether it is small, or a larger life change. If there is a true desire for change there is very little that can hold us back with Mars in this very determined sign.

Mars in Scorpio is known to go where angels fear to tread and is seldom if ever afraid to explore the darker and deeper side of life. At times, this transit could spark an interest in serious self evaluation that can result in the ability to make deep changes within ourselves.

Any planet entering Scorpio can also be concerned with money, or other people’s money. This can include partners-both personal and work, as well as your own money.  Changes in finances may occur at this time, you could come with a budget, or you may simply go over your finances.  There will be a greater focus on money during this cycle along with sex and transformation in general.

The downside of Mars in Scorpio can relate to obsessions and/or darker feelings of revenge as Scorpio is co-ruled by Pluto. Pluto is a powerful planet that is associated with revenge, determination and destruction as well as transformation.

Pluto likes to tear down to rebuild in a better way but it is important to remember that if you are going to destroy something in your life it is best not to burn bridges you may have to walk back over at some point.

Used wisely, Mars in Scorpio can be a great help in developing our own personal power and self confidence. To do this well, we must learn to rise above feelings of bitterness or getting even over a perceived wrong or slight. Scorpio has a hard time forgetting and some may never let go of bitter feelings.

Positive traits such as determination, transformation, passion, intuition, and insightfulness describe Mars-Scorpio. The downside is moodiness, brooding, revenge, plotting and over intensity. Scorpio can be among the most highly evolved of signs or it can sink to the lowest depths. It is up to us to channel the positive side of this transit and grow with it. With Mars in Scorpio we can accomplish a great deal if we don’t get overwrought or let ego matters get in the way.

Mars was in Scorpio, December 9, 2017-January 27, 2018 and we saw the Me too Movement  take off, which if fitting for Mars in this sign, since it is associated with sex and the 8th house.

Since Mars enters Scorpio today it begins its square to Pluto which becomes part of the eclipse energy. This is a harsh if not cruel transit and associated with violence, wars, destruction and financial issues.

Other significant transits:

September 23rd on the heels of the Virgo eclipse the Sun opposes Neptune creating confusion and we can expect to see smoke and mirrors in the world. In other words it is unlikely we will hear the complete truth about events that may occur on or near this date. Neptune can be connected with gasses and water related weather events and Neptune rules the oceans.

September 24th Mars squares Pluto (exact) and the energy of this powerful square will begin even before Mars enters Scorpio September 22 and it will continue for at least a week afterward. This aspect is associated with violence, wars, military and police as well as anger and it could be present at the time of an accident so use caution. It can be constructive change but that meaning is a long shot. On September 24th the moon also squares Pluto in the early AM hours amping up the energies and giving us a double dose of extreme Pluto energy.
