What a month January 2025 will be!
Mars is retrograde and will return to Cancer, the Sun moves from Capricorn to
Aquarius, Saturn passes its halfway point in Pisces and Uranus turns direct. We
will have an emotional full moon and a futuristic new moon. The powerful North
and South node change signs and along with it there is a shift in our
collective destiny. Now, the details.
It’s a rough start to the year with Mars
opposing Pluto in the sky once
again in Leo-Aquarius. We experienced this transit late October and through the
first part of November, and it continued humming in the background, just not so
obvious again until now. The peak of this energy is January 3rd,
although we will feel the effects for days. Mars represents aggression and
anger, and Pluto control, corruption and change. This is a volatile transit and
if it aspects any fixed planets in your chart (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or
Aquarius) at 1-3 degrees you will feel this more intently. On many levels its
effects can bring about cruelty, anger, fights and a powerful desire for
control. Pluto is obsessive in nature. Since Mars is retrograde anyone who starts
a war will end up the loser.
There is no doubt we will see many
events play out in the world at this time and Mars/Pluto aspects the charts of
US President Biden, VP Kamala Harris and Vladimir Zelensky, President of
Ukraine who appears to be in a very risky situation as we begin the year. Time
only allows me to write about the world leaders whose charts I am most familiar
with, and I’m sure there are many more, so it is not limited to those just
mentioned.
It is important to be aware of your
surroundings at this time, and remember that if you strike out against someone
it is very likely they will strike back.
January 6th Mars
retrogrades back into the sign of Cancer. Cancer is far more emotional than Leo
and rules the home/homeland and since it is rule by the Moon; women. We can
expect to see many female warriors fighting for their causes both on the world
stage and at home. With Mars in the placement we will be concerned with
security most of all.
This aspect will come back one more
time after Mars turns direct April 18th-23rd. Mars will
turn stationary direct on February 24th.
Jupiter is square Saturn
The ‘peak’ or exact hit of this square
occurred on December 24th, but the influence is still powerful as we
begin the month. The further we get into the month, the more the energy will
wane, and by February the energy should be behind us for the most part, but
this transit will re-occur later in the year.
This
will slow some things down and it will be a time when we have to get real.
Saturn is about reality and if something has grown too fast we have to slow it
down now either willingly or in some cases unwillingly.
Jupiter
is the money planet and it is retrograde so it’s not operating at its best.
When Jupiter squared Saturn this past August the US Stock market dropped more
than1000 points and it recently dropped again.
You
may lack inner conviction, or your timing can be off. It is
important to consider these factors.
This
transit can represent legal, financial and business problems, and there could
be a lack of support, especially if this aspects your personal chart. There
could be issues with higher education, moral issues, or indifference.
Frustration may build up to the point where something has to give and change
occurs at this point. For some this might represent a culmination of business
affairs of some type, but Saturn can delay, and restrict. There
could be added responsibilities and pressures in your job during this period,
or you could make some kind of change in your job or work.
This
transit not only affects us, but the state of the world; revenue can decline or
critical exchanges affecting financial affairs of the country can occur or
unpopular, hostile legislation may be attempted.
January 2nd,
Venus enters Pisces
Venus is in Pisces is gentle,
perceptive, artistic and emotional, creating a great ambiance for love. It will
remain in this sign until February 4th. Pisces is one of Venus’s
favorite signs and love has no barriers here. Pisces is also connected with
compassion, understanding and intuition and even more so this year as Jupiter
and Neptune are conjunct or together in the sign of Pisces.
Now is the time to embrace romance,
love, fantasy, creativity and dreams and Pisces is all about all of these
things. Pisces is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion as well as Neptune
the planet that rules the imagination, our dreams and fantasies. Giving to
others comes much easier as and our desire to focus on meaningful and bonds
will be powerful. Neptune frequently brings about a desire to merge with others
on a deep level and Venus is operating at its highest octave in this sign.
While now is the time to feel romantic
thoughts and experience love at its fullest we must also remember that since
Pisces is co-ruled by Neptune, Venus in Pisces can also mean putting on rose
colored glasses and failing to judge a situation for what it really is. Love
can be grand, but we must also pay attention to warning signs that tell us if
the person we are interested in is not all in the relationship. This can be a
fine line to walk; feeling the yearning for romance and yet maintaining
boundaries and a clear perspective. In other words, Venus in Pisces does not
mean throwing caution to the wind. The desire to merge with others will be
significant and complex but we must be careful who and what we choose to merge
with.
January 11th, the North and South
Nodes enter Pisces/Virgo
The nodes are points not planets but
are very significant, especially in terms of our collective global evolution. In
this respect they can indicate the collective destiny.
The nodes change signs every 1.5 years
and are moving from Aries-Libra to Pisces-Virgo. They will remain here until
July 26, 2026. The North Node represents where we are going and the South Node
represents what holds us back. The North Node moves into Pisces and the South
Node into Virgo.
Since the North node shows us where we
are going Pisces is a spiritual, dreamy sign. It can represent religion or
spirituality, art, psychics, music and all of the creative fields along with
intuition and faith in the universe and our ultimate destiny. At best, this can
be about healing the population and the world, but this will remain to be seen.
The healing that the North Node seeks in Pisces is through self understanding
that sometimes comes through pain. While Pisces can represent many beautiful
things it also represents confusion, lack of clarity and it can represent lies,
deceit, misinformation and propaganda which is increasing in the world. It can
also be involved with addictions and processing emotions through addictions.
The South Node in Virgo has the
potential to balance out some of the misinformation but it also represents
being overly critical or demanding. Virgo is known for wanting perfection and
to be perfect in everything. It can play the blame game. Virgo also represents
health and work, worry and anxiety, stress and skepticism. Its best role will
be to balance out the lack of clarity Pisces can sometimes bring.
Jun
23, 2006 – Dec 18, 2007 is the last time the nodes transited these signs which
of course brought about the subprime mortgage crisis and the confusion that
occurred as a result.
The
most important things we can understand is not to feed our brain
misinformation, which will in all likelihood increase. On the other end of the
spectrum however, discernment can increase as well. Misinformation may be the
theme of the year if we don’t wake up and smell the coffee.
January 8th-28th,
Mercury enters Capricorn
While Mercury in Sagittarius has
expanded our thinking in many areas, Mercury in Capricorn will bring us back
down to earth in terms of our thinking, speaking and communications with
others. Mercury in Sagittarius expanded thinking and communication which was
big, grand, high minded and bold. Now, we can take the ideas and plans we came
up with during Mercury’s time in Sag and determine if they are viable and can
become our reality. Over the next three weeks we can expect to be operating
from a place of being goal-oriented, lazar focused and much more grounded and
down to earth.
While Mercury in Capricorn may not be
the most exciting of signs for Mercury it can enable us to focus on our
practical realities and goals. It is actually a more comfortable place for
Mercury to operate as it was actually at its detriment in Sagittarius, meaning
it did not operate as comfortably as it does in some of the other signs.
As Capricorn is ruled by Saturn we
must use care not to become too serious, tiresome or authoritative while
Mercury is in this sign. At worse we can come across as overly pessimistic or
negative and have a difficult time trusting our creativity, feelings and
intuition or taking leaps of faith as Capricorn wants concrete results which
are not always possible to predict.
January 13th Full Moon in Cancer
Cancer is the most sensitive and
emotional of signs, and is ruled by the Moon which is connected to our
emotions, home and the homeland. The Moon also rules women and Motherhood.
While this Moon sextiles Uranus and
trines Neptune which is all positive, it also conjuncts Mars, the God of War.
For many this full moon will be
upsetting or cause anger. There may be many upset people, especially women.
Moon-Mars transits can accelerate our energies and for some this will turn into
rash outbursts and accidents. Some will be aggressive and argumentative. In a
woman’s chart Mars can represent a man in her life and if this is the case
there can be friction. The best course is to remain calm and fly under the
radar until this aspect passes.
In the US natal chart this moon falls
dead on Mercury in the 8th house. The 8th house rules the
nation’s finances and death. Mercury can represent important announcements and
communication and it also represents the public vote, the mail, transport and
young people. It is possible we could hear of a death of someone significant
around this time.
The Full Moon opposes Pluto in the US
chart, 2nd house of money. Pluto rules corruption, power and those
who seek power and control. An opposition to Pluto could kick off some type of
financial situation that would not be positive for the public, and this moon
will entail a great deal of friction, anger and we will see those who try and
force their will on others. For the country this is not a positive full moon.
We may also hear revelations of previously unknown knowledge.
The moons sextile to Uranus can
indicate a new direction, and the trine to Neptune will indicate some
creativity and compassion in some quarters.
Expect to hear news about
President-elect Trump as the Moon falls dead on his Saturn.
January 19th, the Sun enters
Aquarius
When the Sun leaves Capricorn for Aquarius it
is time to relax a little from the seriousness of Capricorn and take the time to
approach things in a more open minded and receptive manner. Capricorn is a sign associated with work and
results while Aquarius is more about expanding our world, socializing and
interacting with others and looking into new ideas and ways of doing and approaching
things. Each sign has its purpose which shifts as the Sun changes signs.
Aquarius rules the 11th
house of the zodiac which is associated with groups, friendships and the
collective so it is here our interests will lie over the next month.
While both Capricorn and Aquarius are
ruled by Saturn, the planet of structure and responsibility, Aquarius has a
co-ruler; Uranus. Uranus is the planet of unpredictability, changeability,
freedom and innovation. Uranus is known for its quirkiness and at times sudden
and unexpected change that can surprise and in some cases shock. Don’t be
surprised at the unexpected twists and turns that may occur over the next
month.
Aquarius is the sign known for its
humanitarian interests and concern for the welfare of others. At this time you
will naturally crave connecting with others whether it is your best friend,
groups, co-workers or someone new. Deep conversations and new insights into
others will become more important over the next month along with a desire to simply
relax, and chill out after a month of trying to make up for lost time after the
holidays. The Aquarius season occurs every year at about the same time and it
can offer some greatly needed time to refocus, relax and get in touch with your
own needs and desires. Taking time to chill out and adopt an easier going
lifestyle may be just what the Dr. ordered at this point in time.
This times the Sun conjuncts Pluto for
the next several days. This is only the second time in US history Pluto has
entered Aquarius so this is not a transit we have experienced in this sign. Of
course the Sun conjuncts Pluto every year but not in this sign. This transit
will play out in the world and our lives especially if it touches your chart.
Pluto in Aquarius will be about the
people. Not just in the US but worldwide, and we will see people struggle for
their freedom. The fall of the Syrian dictator is indicative of this, and there
will be many more to follow over the next 20 years.
January 20th, Inauguration Day in
the US
January 20th, 12 noon EST
is when every inauguration of a new President occurs, and therefore becomes the
chart of that President’s administration or outcome of time in office.
The Sun conjuncts Pluto which
represents change but also those who try and force their will on others. The
Sun is always at 0-1 degrees of Aquarius on an inauguration, but has not conjuncted
Pluto on inauguration Day in the US and there will be a great deal of anger and
friction in the country. The Moon is in peace loving Libra but squares Mercury
and Mars. While there are voters who are pleased with the outcome, many
Americans will not be and will make their voices heard, especially women.
Moon-Mars aspects are indicative of anger and agitation.
Venus sextiles Mercury indicative of
speeches and communication and for some a pleasant time.
Venus is conjunct Saturn in Pisces and
the two planets don’t gel well together. Venus represents love and values and
Saturn is the planet of restrictions.
The most significant transit other
than Moon square Mars, Mars is retrograde Mars at 24 degrees which conjuncts
Trump’s Saturn. It’s an odd transit for an inauguration since it usually
denotes frustration and anger.
In the history of the US Mars has been
retrograde at the Inauguration total of a 9 times, including once when Mars was
stationing retrograde. A station is a powerful period. The Presidents
inaugurated on a retrograde Mars include;
-James Madison 3-4-1809
-Martin Van Buren 3-4-1837
-William Henry Harrison 3-4-1841 Mars
stationing, died one month later
-Wm McKinley 3-4-1897 Died by assassin
-Franklin Roosevelt 3-4-1933 Mars retrograde
first term. Only President to serve 4 terms, died in office
-Millard Fillmore 7-10-1850 He was
venerable to fringe causes and formed the ‘No Nothing’ Party opposed to
immigration.
-Ulysses S. Grant 3-4-1869-1973 2 term
President plagued by scandal, especially his poor response to the ‘Panic of
1873.’
-John F. Kennedy 1-20-1961
Assassinated Nov 22, 1963
-Wm J Clinton 1-20-1993-1997 Served 2
terms, plagued by scandals.
January 28th Mercury enters
Aquarius until February 14th
Mercury transits through 2 signs this month,
the second one being Aquarius. During Mercury’s transit through Aquarius we may
all be a little more open minded and receptive to new ideas and ways of doing
things. Aquarius is known for its quirky, wild and weird side as well as its
intellectual, inventive and eccentric nature. The sign Aquarius is associated
with the 11th house in astrology which rules the collective, as well
as groups and organizations. On a collective level we will be rethinking many
things that benefit or don’t benefit society as a whole.
The planetary rulers of Aquarius are
Saturn and Uranus. Uranus rules new, cutting edge types of concepts and with
Mercury in this sign you may be able to expand your ideas and approaches and
come up with more original ways of focusing your energy. In this way you may be
able to benefit from Mercury’s transit through this most intellectual and
logical of signs. Go bold over the next 3 weeks Uranus is known for producing
cutting edge types of technology and innovations and if you can tap into this
energy, you could have flashes of brilliance.
Uranus-Aquarius is associated with concepts
that may seem off the wall but later resulting in innovations that become the
future norm. Mercury-Aquarius works well if not best within groups and the
collective so don’t be afraid to speak up even if you ideas seem farfetched.
January 29th, New Moon in Aquarius
This month’s New Moon falls at 9
degrees of Aquarius. Aquarius rules the 11th house of the collective
and ‘groups.’ Aquarius is about the people and freedom. It is futuristic in
nature and prone toward upheaval and unexpected events.
This moon conjuncts Pluto which can
bring up deep seated emotions and feelings. It trines Jupiter, the planet of
luck giving us some planetary help. Since this moon coinsides with Uranus
forward motion expect to see significant events in the world.
Mercury is conjunct Pluto which
becomes part of the new moon energy. This aspect is associated with digging for
deeper truths and is this is what you do be prepared for the answer. It can also
be obsessive in nature.
This aspect is associated with
intensity, arguments and heavy duty emotions. In the world it is associated
with propaganda and those who wish to push their beliefs and ideas on others.
January 30th Uranus turns direct
Uranus is an erratic and unpredictable
planet in astrology that rules many things including electricity, aircraft,
technology, revolutions, innovations, inventions and freedom which can take
many forms. Each year Uranus retrogrades for about 5 months.
When Uranus is retrograde energies are more
bottled up, and the individual becomes aware of the need for change in whatever
area of the chart Uranus is transiting. When Uranus turns direct
those energies are often acted on either by design or at times it could seem
the changes are coming at you. Events involving Uranus often seem shocking, but
they are usually the inevitable result of a situation that is no longer working
and Uranus wakes us up to what is really occurring in our lives for better or
worse. While retrograde Uranus may seem ‘asleep,’ but as it turns direct we can
experience brilliant ideas and epiphanies or in some cases shocking change.
Now
is the time to try new and innovative ideas and look for new solutions to the
same old problems. We can approach things from a more innovative angle and
sometimes ideas and concepts come out of the blue like a bolt of lightning.
Uranus is known
as the Great Awakener because it has a tendency to ‘wake up,’ latent
possibilities, bring unexpected and unusual events and at times complete and radical
change. It is the planet involved in divorce and separation in many cases that
propels us in new directions when relationships, jobs and other areas of life
have outlived their purpose and it is time for a new approach.
If Uranus is
aspecting a personal planet in your chart during this time, it may seem the
energy has been dormant over the past 5 months. Over the next few
weeks as Uranus begins its forward motion you may see events start to occur as
described by the transit in your natal chart. Uranus is known to act quickly
and does not drag things out. If it is in an easy angle-a trine or sextile,
change you perceive as positive will occur. If it is in a hard
angle-a conjunction, square or opposition, the change can seem more difficult
or disruptive.
If Uranus is not
aspecting anything in your chart you may barely notice the change but feel a
desire to try different approaches and look at new concepts or take a sudden
and different direction.
When Uranus turns
direct we often see new and sudden, if not unexpected events on the world
stage. Uranus is the planet that ultimately frees the oppressed which is why it
is associated with revolutions, coups and uprisings.
With Mercury’s
conjunction to Pluto we can expect news that could affect us all; along with
propaganda from those who desire to push their ideas regardless of what others
may think or believe.
Since accidents
can occur, especially involving vehicles use caution.
Other significant aspects/days;
January 6th, Mercury
squares Neptune. This is indicative of lies, misinformation, scandals revealed
and confusion.
January 15th, the Sun
opposes Mars-This can be energetic, but also indicative of burnout, accidents
and anger so use care.
September 18th, Venus
conjuncts Saturn-These planets don’t blend well. In some instances business
deals can come together but it is generally negative and some may breakup or
experience an ending.
January 23rd, Mercury
opposes Mars-This is prone toward anger, arguments, and accidents and at best
debate.
