The world will begin to change and
morph into a new era as Saturn enters Pisces March 7th at 8:35 AM,
EST, and Pluto moves into Aquarius March 23rd (8:13AM, EDT). As the
world shifts, our own lives will shift as well, depending on what these two powerful
planets are doing in your chart. Also this month, we have a chaotic full moon
in Virgo, then a new moon at 0 degrees of Aries which is considered the ‘world
point,’ meaning events that occur will be important on a global basis. Mercury
moves from Aquarius to Pisces, then Aries. Venus leaves Aries for Taurus mid
month and Mars finally leaves Gemini for Cancer after 7 long months and a
retrograde. All planets are direct this month indicating forward movement! Now,
the details
Saturn enters Pisces
It is always significant when Saturn
changes signs. Saturn in Pisces is ruled by planets Jupiter and Neptune and the
last time Saturn transited this sign was March 22, 1993-April 8, 1996. For the
next 2 and a half years Saturn will transit the part of your chart that Pisces
rules. As Pisces rules the 12th house of the zodiac this transit of
Saturn will bring about many endings, but this does not mean it is bad or negative
as some things need to end in preparation of new beginnings that will occur
when Saturn enters Aries in 2025-6.
Pisces is constantly shifting and
morphing into something else, and often makes us believe things that aren’t
real. What’s real may appear unreal and what’s unreal is something some people
may believe. Pisces has a hard time with
boundaries and often either doesn’t know where the boundaries really are or
goes beyond normal boundaries. This will become even more pronounced when
Saturn and Neptune meet up in both the sign of Pisces and Aries as well in
2025.
All of this means the societal confusion
we are all experiencing in certain ways may become more pronounced during this
time. In 2016 Saturn squared Neptune. This period saw the rise of ‘fake news stories,’ Russian interference in
the Presidential
election in terms of false ads on Face book and other social media outlets
along with trolling.
Saturn will conjunct Neptune in Aries
May-June of 2025, and then in Pisces the latter part of 2025. These transits
will bring about significant confusion and shifts in the collective that can
dissolve boundaries, which Neptune is known for.
That said, Saturn in Pisces also has
the possibility to wake us up to what is real and what is not. This is
evidenced at this time by the amount of information that has come to light in
the lawsuit between Fox News and Dominion Voting machines. If you follow the
story it has been revealed that news anchors did not believe the ‘big lie’
perpetrated that the election had been stolen from ex-President Donald Trump.
Rupert Murdoch, media mogul and owner of Fox News testified on February 27th,
that ‘he had the power to stop the lie and chose not to.’ In the end, I do believe Fox will be held
accountable for their blatant lies, and we will see more of lawsuits like this
when the facts do not jive with reality over the next few years.
Saturn represents rules, authority and
structures while in any given sign as it moves through the zodiac. Since Pisces
rules creativity, spirituality and creativity, Saturn in this placement may
help us bring our dreams into some type of tangible fruition. Spirituality,
religion and philosophy will be a major focus over these years for better or
worse.
Cults may come into focus as they did
the last time Saturn was in Pisces. Cults for some can become a type of
religion or religious experience depending on the person and their belief
system.
Saturn should benefit anyone with
Water or Earth planets as it will trine Water planets and sextile Earth planets
(except Virgo) both of which are positive and can contribute to long term
growth.
Those who will have the most difficult
time with Saturn in Pisces will have Mutable planets; Gemini, Virgo,
Sagittarius and Saturn will transit the 1st house of everyone born
under Pisces. This can be a difficult period and in some ways as Saturn transits
through your Sun sign, it represents major life changes that can sometimes be
accompanied with a feeling of starting over in some manner. Saturn conjunct
your Sun can also represent a time when your accomplishments reach a peak and have
to do with building things that last. I started my astrology business with
Saturn conjunct my Sun, and that was now over 20 years ago!
Here are some of the things that occurred when
Saturn was last in Pisces January of 1994-April of 1996.
-Monica Lewinsky had an affair with Bill Clinton which became
public knowledge soon after.
-Skater Nancy Kerrigan was attacked by Tonya Harding
-The Northridge earthquake struck San Fernando becoming the most
destructive one since 1906 (when Saturn was also in Pisces)
-Rwandan genocide begins
-President (former) Nixon dies
-48 cult followers found dead by suicide in Canada
-The Princess Diana interview occurred that ended the marriage
-The OJ trial
-Bosnian war ends
-Yitzhak Rabin assassinated
-The Oklahoma City bombings occurred
-Windows 95 released
-1994 crime bill increases criminal sentencing leading to mass
incarceration crisis
-Investigations into WACO siege
Pluto rules the collective and it
changes signs on March 23, and enters Aquarius for the first time since 1798. Pluto
takes more than 250 years to go through the entire zodiac so this is one of the
most significant astrological changes of the year and the decade.
Pluto tends to inch into a new sign
for a few months before it moves into the sign for good. This year Pluto will
be in Aquarius from March 23-June 11, when it will return to Capricorn for the
rest of 2023.During 2023- 2024 it will move from Aquarius back to Capricorn on
the dates that follow;
-January 21-September 2, 2024
-November 19, 2024-January 2044
The 0 degree of any planet is known as
the ‘world point,’ meaning events occur that we are interested in on a personal
as well as global basis. Pluto will only be in Aquarius for three months this
year but this will give us a taste of what’s to come for the next 2 decades. Pluto
at 0 degrees will ‘set off’ the powerful Jupiter-Saturn conjunction that
occurred in December of 2020.
What does Saturn-Jupiter conjunction mean?
This is one of
the most important cycles in terms of major changes in the world, and
civilization. Some astrologers consider this cycle the foundation upon which
the world is built. It has been said this cycle is considered the ground base
of human development which marks the interaction between the perception of
ideas, potentialities and the manifestation of ideas in the concrete material
world. Jupiter joins Saturn once every 20 years.
The
Saturn-Jupiter conjunctions occur in the same element for long periods of time.
This 20 year conjunction marks a 200 year change from the Earth signs-Taurus,
Virgo and Capricorn to Air signs which is very significant. In the future we
will be dealing with the element of Air. This will bring information to the
forefront of things to an even greater degree than it already is. We are
entering uncharted territory and a new era.
What could the Great conjunction mean for us
personally?
-New alliances
and friendships
-We may become
more tolerant of others.
-We will be
working to find our own individual place within the collective.
-New ideas and
concepts. We should guard against strict dogmatic attitudes, which would miss
the point of the Aquarian expansiveness.
-More personal
structure and awareness in dealing with Covid.
-New visions that
lead to new projects.
-Being a part of
the cutting edge in technology, medicines, entertainment or another field.
-A larger than
previous vision of something we will work toward.
-Feeling freer to
be ourselves.
-A greater
awareness of the suffering of others and doing something about it.
-Becoming an
advocate of freedom and equality for all.
-Unexpected new
awakenings and directions.
-Giving or receiving
unexpected forgiveness.
In astrology, Pluto rules the
collective and is very significant in terms of world events and changes,
although it is also significant for us on a personal level depending on what it
is aspecting in your personal chart.
Pluto destroys and tears down to
rebuild. It is supposed to rebuild in a stronger way, although it may not seem
like this at the time if you are experiencing a hard Pluto transit in your
chart. When a Pluto aspect occurs-positive or negative-it is going to change
something, ready or not!
Aquarius is the sign of the collective
and the natural ruler of the 11th house which also rules the
collective. On an individual level we may be drawn to certain groups, organizations
or philosophies that become important. The downside of this is that we can
become too attached to our own ‘groups’ and ideas and fail to acknowledge that
others can have good ideas as well, whether in a political or some other sense.
Since Aquarius is co-ruled by Uranus
technologies will certainly boom, and we can already see the beginning of this
with AI. Personally, I think this represents the future along with many ideas
we may not even be able to conceive of at the present. 20 years before the
internet boomed few individuals could foresee that it would change the world
and society as we know it.
While Aquarius is a sign associated
with war, it is also the most Democratic of signs. While Pluto in Capricorn has
been about big business, patriarchy and plutocrats, Aquarius will be the
opposite in the long run. While we have seen the rise of right wing extremism
around the world, we will see the rise of the people and the desires of the
majority as opposed to being governed by the few. None of this will happen overnight
however, and it is important to remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day and
the problems of the world won’t be all solved with this transit of Pluto. We
are constantly a work in progress.
While the true ‘Age of Aquarius’ timeline is
somewhat elusive and mysterious, with the entrance of Pluto into Aquarius we will
certainly feel this is the the “Age of Aquarius,” and will be influenced by
Aquarian themes such as;
-unexpected events
-new discoveries and understandings
-new technologies
-uprisings around the globe associated
with restrictions on people
-aircraft/spacecraft and new
technologies
-stronger friendships with a greater
emphasis on friends
-a desire for freedom
Some of the events that occurred when Pluto
was in Aquarius 1777-1798
- Vermont became the first colony to ban slavery (1777) and the Vermont
legislature moved to provide full voting rights to African American men.
--The
American Revolution was being fought
-France
entered the Revolutionary War
-The
French Revolution occurred
-US
drafts the dollar
-George
Washington became first US President
-US

March full moon in Virgo
This month’s full moon falls at 16
degrees of Virgo on March 7th, the same day Saturn enters Pisces.
Virgo is the natural ruler of the 6th house of health and work. This moon will motivate us to find a balance
between work and home life as well as our health. At times, existing health
matters can crop up on a moon like this, so if this happens to be the case,
this is an ideal time to visit a Dr. This does not mean however, that you
should expect to have a problem.
Virgo is a critical sign; that is, it
enhances critical thinking, and at the same time it can be overly critical as
well. This is the time to deal with our work, habits and health, as well as the
health of pets.
Virgo is ruled by Mercury the planet
of communication, so we can expect to participate in many different conversations,
perhaps with many different viewpoints.
The Moon however opposes Neptune and
squares Mars along with the Sun forming a t-square which increases the chances
of conversations turning into arguments perhaps even about something the person
arguing knows nothing about. Some will be emotionally triggered, and there
could be a great deal of anger toward and coming from women. Distractions could
also be a problem at this time.
Moon-Neptune is associated with
confusion and chaos, and Moon-Mars anger.
This Moon falls on Neptune in the US
chart and sets off the natal Mars-Neptune square. This opens the door to issues
over race problems, violence, and conflict with those who are considered enemies
of the US. Mars rules guns as well as young men. We could also see water
related weather issues.
Mercury enters Pisces and Aries
Mercury is the planet of communication
that rules the way we think and respond and communicate with others. It also
rules travel and commerce. March 2, Mercury enters Pisces where it will remain
until March 18th.
The image of Pisces is two fish
swimming in opposite directions and there is a good reason for this as this
sign is a double edged sword. You can soar to the highest places under a Pisces
transit or sink to the lowest depths. Pisces ruler Neptune is associated with
faith, creativity, intuition, art and cinema, as well as drugs and drug
addicts, lies, deception misunderstandings, propaganda, and the seamy side of
life.
While Mercury is in Pisces we can
expect communication to become flakier, and miscommunication to be a common
theme. Rather than being focused on facts, we may be swayed more by the mood
and tone of thinking and conversations. We tend to operate more on intuition,
and spend time reflecting on the past. Our instincts often drive thinking and
communication, dreams and fantasies can become more vivid and remain on our
minds.
Pisces is a mutable water sign. While
all water signs are sensitive and emotional, a mutable sign is changeable, so
our thoughts and feelings will be constantly shifting and changing over the
next 20 days just like the ocean which Pisces/Neptune has dominion over.
With Mercury in Pisces we can become
more attuned to idealism, fantasy, creativity, art and particularly our
feelings. We often reach deep into the recesses of our subconscious mind to find
creativity and find fresh and new ideas. At times we may discover or understand
things to a greater depth than we have before, and we could even feel a certain
illumination. Dreams typically become more vivid while Mercury is in this sign
as well as more frequent. During Mercury’s transit through Pisces we will sense
and feel things we don’t normally pay attention to, and sometimes know things
that cannot be explained because our subconscious mind is being triggered.
Pisces is after all the sign that rules psychics. It also rules religion and
faith, and some will find this a more spiritual time, and focus on their inner
life more than material. With Mercury in this sign we may be much more inclined
to take a ‘leap of faith’ in some direction we have not previously tried. Many
time we think about the bigger questions in life such as ‘what is my true
purpose,’ ‘what is God,’ or ‘does life go on after death?’ None of these
questions are trivial and topics like these will likely come up more
frequently.
Compassion can be given and received
during Mercury in Pisces. We are more attuned to others and their pain or
problems at this time than we normally are. It is no surprise the “Great
American Relief Act’ or the Covid stimulus bill was signed at a time when we
experience multiple planets in Pisces.
The downside of this transit is that we
may find that we are more forgetful, experience brain fog, or show up late at
work or meetings as we are not so focused on details at this time. It is
important to pay attention to communication because we can mishear something we
thought was said or others may misspeak. Lack of clarity and understanding is
common at this time and it is important to remember that if we don’t understand
something, ask questions! We could be tempted to believe the unbelievable at
some point, so before reaching any important decision make sure you get the
facts straight.
Mercury changes signs again March 18th
when it enters Aries, where it will remain until April 3rd. At this
time we will experience another major energetic shift in our communication.
While Mercury has been in Pisces
communication has typically not been direct and often confusing so its move
into Aries will change this dramatically.
While in Aries communication as well
as thinking will pick up speed and shift toward a style of getting straight to
the point, sometimes to the point of even seeming abrupt.
For some, especially the Fire signs
this will seem very natural and comfortable, and for others (especially Water
signs) this type of communication may seem too harsh or outside their comfort
zone.
Conveying information and ideas will
be faster, sharper and without beating around the bush but we must watch out
for overly assertive communication with others or getting carried away with
ideas that have not been thoroughly thought out as our mind may be moving so
fast.
At its best Mercury in Aries can
provide us with a mental state that is optimistic, encouraging, on point and
self-confident. At its worst Mercury in Aries can come across as rude, thoughtless,
aggressive, impatient and without respect as we can sometimes forget to
approach conversations in a thoughtful manner with others. Details can be
missing in conversation as Aries is prone to streamlined thinking and
communication and does not like to get bogged down in details.
Venus enters Taurus
March 16th, Venus changes
signs and enters Taurus, one of the signs it rules along with Libra.
Venus in Taurus will be a significant
change from self oriented Venus in Aries. Over the next few weeks there will be
a greater focus on love, money, luxury items or beauty, beautiful things,
relationships and personal as well as collective values. Venus is happy and
lavish in this sign and you may feel a desire to surround yourself with
richness on many different levels whether it is art, clothes, jewelry, calming
music or rich food. Go ahead and enjoy the most basic of comforts: touch,
smell, sensuality, beauty, comfort, relaxation and food. Venus in Taurus takes
us back to the basics of life and we can indulge and luxuriate in the simpler
things that make us the happiest on an inner level.
Now is the time to focus on
relationships, and putting your emotions and feelings first, ahead of work or
other heavy demands. This can be a relaxed time where we are focused most of
all on the physical, the beautiful, and we can connected to the earth and
outdoors and the beauty of spring as Taurus is an Earth sign. Plan a walk or
hike, and get grounded by Mother Earth. Typically this is a great time for
planting and getting your garden under control if you are inclined in this way.
Taurus is typically considered fruitful and the best sign for planting whether
it is a large country or urban garden or houseplants on a balcony or in a
window.
By seeking pleasure in all of its most
basic forms and with others this period typically embodies harmony and can be a
beautiful, chilled out and relaxed period that won’t return again for another
year. Enjoy this while it lasts because when Venus enters Gemini in late June
our focus will change once again.
The Sun enters Aries
Happy New Year! March 20th
the Sun enters Aries at 0 degrees. This is the spring equinox, the first day of
spring and the astrological New Year as the Sun begins its 365 day trip once
again around the zodiac and through all of the signs for another year. In the
West we celebrate New Year’s January 1st. The Chinese celebrate on
the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month, but for astrologers
it’s when the Sun enters 0 degrees of Aries, the 1st sign of the
zodiac.
During the Pisces season we are
typically focused on merging with others to the extent we can typically overlook
or not place the biggest emphasis on ourselves. When the Sun moves from Pisces
into Aries we come back to what our own desires and needs are and how to go
about meeting them. Often we begin new ventures and projects.
Aries is not only a Fire sign, but a
Cardinal Fire sign which means Aries are ready to handle just about anything
that comes their way. Cardinal signs are the natural leaders in life and like
to be in the circle of movers and shakers. They typically exude confidence and
don’t let grass grow under their feet. As the Sun enters Aries we will all take
on more of these characteristics.
Aries is ruled by Mars, the planet of
action and war. Mars is a take charge planet, and can be determined, brash, and
assertive and always seeks movement or action. Aries cannot stand inertia or
being bored.
Aries rules the first house of the
zodiac or the self. When this happens we tend to be focused on our own needs, what
we want to do and how we can get there. For this reason Aries is sometimes
considered a selfish sign, so while we should seek to understand and act on our
own needs, it is wise to remember that when interacting with others we need to
consider their feelings as well.
Aries qualities include bravery, a
take charge attitude, bold ideas and actions, confidence, enthusiasm, honesty,
and passion. Aries main weaknesses are being short tempered, moody, impulsive
and overly aggressive.
As Aries represents the beginning of
the astrological cycle there is often a big emphasis on new starts, new beginnings,
or seeing potential in new projects and situations. Like the spring flowers and
vegetation that begin to grow, we too can start anew and plant our seeds for
the rest of the year to come. Now is the time to take a direct, bigger and bold
approach to what you would like to do or start and you may be surprised at how
successful and convincing you can be to others. Aries typically does not wait for around for
things to happen, they make things happen. We all get a bit of the same take
charge attitude becoming more focused and driven to make things happen. Aries likes freedom and now is the time to
enjoy just being you. This is the time of year to unleash yourself from all of
the serious Capricorn energy we have experienced over the past several months
and feel young and free. Youth is after all, more of a feeling than an age
especially if you are over a certain age!
The less desirable side of Aries has
to do with making decisions too fast and moving forward without thinking things
through first. If this is the case however, we can review things and make
appropriate change when the Sun moves into the more earthy and solid sign of
Taurus April 20th.
Aries is sometimes accused of being
overly aggressive or demanding but this comes from a desire to be
straightforward and get things moving. Those who find this energy the most
difficult are Water signs but Air and Fire signs should thrive on this energy.
At best the Fire energy of this sign
can motivate and drive you toward working toward your goals whatever they may
be. For some, this transit will involve feelings of new beginnings and new
opportunities to take advantage of. You may feel emboldened to really be your
true self and put your desires out there.
Your confidence will likely be
inspired over the next month, even if you are normally a shy or retiring
person. You probably won’t need the validations of others, as you will give it
to yourself.
The Sun in Aries makes a significant
aspect when it squares or clashes with Pluto on April 18th. Sun
square Pluto aspects tend to be prone toward power struggles, change and
breakdowns of all types including relationships. Arguments can ensure if you
are not aware of the harsh energy this produces and this is not a day to push
ultimatums. You need for control may seem more significant during this time,
which is something to watch and be aware of. Significant change often occurs at
this time with a great deal of work. It will likely be a heavy news day in the
world.
Happy astrological New Year and Happy
Birthday to Aries!
New Moon in Aries
This month’s New Moon falls at 0 degrees of
Aries March 21st, a day after the Sun enters the same sign. 0
degrees of Aries is considered a critical degree as well as the ‘world point,’
so this is a day of important new beginnings on a personal and perhaps even
global level. This is considered a Cazimi
moon which refers to a planet that is ‘in the heart’ of the Sun and these two
are conjunct. This is a great time to start anything new-perhaps the best time
of the ear-especially close to the peak of the New Moon at 1:23PM, EDT.
Mars (finally) enters Cancer after last Neptune
square
Mars changes sign and moves into
Cancer March 25th-May 20th after a 7 month stay in Gemini
that included a retrograde. As we begin
the month Mars is still in it post retrograde “shadow period’ until March 16th.
After the 16th it resumes normal speed but on March 14th,
Mars squares Neptune for the 3rd of 3 passes. We will feel this
energy however during the week before the aspect is exact and at least a week
afterward. The last time this aspect occurred was October 11-19th
and November 24-26. We could see reoccurring themes occur at this time.
Mars
square Neptune is a confusing and tiring transit. Sometimes unusual or strange
things happen on a transit like this, and at worst it can be associated with
confusion, lies, misunderstandings and deceptive tactics. It is important to be
completely above board and honest with this aspect as otherwise it could come
back to bite you in the future. Some may feel discouraged, even hopeless and
question what they are doing. If this is the case, this energy will pass in a
few days and things are typically not as bad as they appear with this aspect.
Sometimes,
when Mars squares Neptune there can be some type of revelation. If this
happens, its best not to act too quickly as Neptune can confuse the issue and
all may not be completely clear. The fog will lift as this aspect passes.
At
times, this aspect can involve mysterious events and scandals. Neptune is
associated with nuclear weapons and the oceans. This does not mean we are going
to see nuclear destruction, but there is certainly talk of it these days with
Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Lies and propaganda are common with this aspect.
For
some, this could represent a type of spiritual transit that could involve
compassion for others or artistic ventures. Dreams could be quite vivid as well
as intuition. If you are a creative person, this should be a productive few
days.
Mars in Cancer
Mars is the planet that rules our
action collectively and individually. Cancer is the most emotional sign of the
zodiac, and while Mars transits through Cancer our actions will be more emotionally
driven as opposed to intellectually driven action since Mars has been in Gemini.
Mars in this sign is considered at its fall, which means the energy does not operate
comfortably and can in fact, misbehave, which means we can tend to misbehave in
an overly emotionally manner if we get into a situation and feel pushed or
stressed to that level. Mars in Cancer is in the Moon’s sign, and the Moon in
astrology is changeable and emotional. Mars in this sign will work fairly well
for Water and Earth signs but may be more difficult for Air and Fire signs.
While Mars is in Cancer we will be
more concerned with issues that affect the home, family and our basic security
and foundation, both on a personal level, and on the world stage. In astrology
Mars rules the 4th house and opposes the 10th house or
the sections of the horoscope that rule home, the homeland and our own personal
security and stability which includes business/career.
Typically, Mars in Cancer is fiercely
loyal and protective of family and those they love. You may feel more
protective toward those closest to you and others may also come across as more
nurturing during this transit. You may have a greater interest in helping
family and extended family, or standing up for their rights as well as your
own.
Expect emotions and feelings to run
higher than normal while Mars transits through Cancer. You may feel on top of the world one day, and
then down in the dumps the next. Remember Mars in Cancer is in the Moons sign
and the moon changes signs and mood every 24 hours! Our energy and action will
be attached to the lunar cycles during this Mars period.
Feelings will become more important
during this time. You may feel more inclined to express your emotions toward
those you love, and others will feel the same.
Over the next 7 weeks expect to feel
more connected or concerned with family/extended family and issues around the
home. You may spend more time at home, and even entertain there more often. You
could also paint, redecorate, look at or buy real estate. Many people sell and
buy property with Mars in Cancer. This would be a good time to take cooking
classes, do family genealogy, have family reunions or visit older family members.
Digging into home projects is a great
use of energy at this time, cleaning out closets, cooking and bringing people
into your kitchen-Cancer loves food and tends to nourish others through good
food, wine and the comforts of home.
Mars in Cancer is not always
direct-and we may take a more indirect route toward reaching our goals. If
something does not seem to connect emotionally, we may forgo it or take a
different route altogether.
Happy Spring 2023!
