New Moon in Libra; Love and Justice

The New Moon in Libra falls at 2 degrees of the sign ruling marriage and partnerships on the afternoon of September 25th. Libra’s planetary ruler is Venus so this moon will be focused on love, relationships, values and marriage with a theme of ‘we versus me,’ and finding our balance in partnerships.

Libra is connected to balance, harmony and justice. Since Libra is represented by the scales of justice there can be an interest in finding, giving or receiving fairness and justice both personally and on the global stage. We will likely hear of news relating to courts, lawsuits, judicial matters, and high profile relationships or partnerships.

Libra is a Cardinal sign or an initiator so for many this will be a time of new beginnings. I would advise against starting new projects at this time since Mercury is retrograde but it is certainly an opportune time for brainstorming, planning or redoing something you began earlier.

This Moon opposes Jupiter in Aries, and oppositions generally involve another person. In this case, the opposition involves Jupiter, the planet of luck and gain. While the possibility exists for something to become blown out of proportion or even become opinionated, Jupiter typically is considered a benefic so in this case while there may be a challenge involved, there could also be gain and benefit in the long term. The biggest downside to this opposition would be over confidence or an excess of something. Since Jupiter rules judges and the law we can expect to hear major news and decisions concerning laws, justice and politics.

Since Mercury is retrograde we could experience brain fog, cancellations, or cloudy thinking and judgment. When a New Moon falls on retrograde Mercury sometimes events that are connected to the New Moon could be delayed, typically no more than a few days or even a few hours. The retrograde often causes us to focus on our own inner world as well as the past.

This moon is an opportunity to find balance and harmony in our relationships, especially marriage and committed relationships. In some cases this moon could bring a new person into your life, but there is no guarantee of permanency with Mercury’s retrograde. It could however reconnect you with someone you have known before whether this is a lover, friend, client or acquaintance.

Since Jupiter rules people who are foreign born this day may represent a time of interaction with those who were born elsewhere or are considerably different from you. We will hear a great deal of news concerning foreign countries and those who are seeking justice. For example there are multiple protests at this time in Iran and Russia. During this time we can expect major turmoil in the world as the Saturn Uranus square is almost exact.

Venus is opposing Neptune at the time of this New Moon so we can expect matters to become clouded and unclear. Believe only half of what you hear and go to credible sources for news as propaganda will increase at this time. This aspect can also affect the weather and water related incidents and disasters.

The death of Queen Elizabeth: An end of an era

Queen Elizabeth of the UK passed away peacefully September 8th, 2022 at 96 years of age. Her son Charles is now King Charles 111. Buckingham palace released a simple statement indicating she died peacefully.

Queen Elizabeth served 70 years on the throne, the longest in British history and enjoyed a worldwide audience of admirers. Her last official act was to appoint Liz Truss as UK’s new Prime Minister just two days before her death. She met with 14 US Presidents during her reign.

On September 8th, we learned that Queen Elizabeth’s doctors were concerned for her health. Since announcements like this are rare, I took a look at the Queen’s chart.

Sure enough, there was Saturn conjunct her Mars and Jupiter in the first house of self. Saturn-Mars transits can sometimes relate to health issues, in particular cardio-vascular issues. Later that afternoon, the Moon would conjunct Saturn, Mars and Jupiter and this appears to be close to or right at her time of death. I felt when the Moon crossed her Saturn-Mars we would likely hear more news and we did later in the afternoon. The Moon is often the main activator in a chart.

Uranus was also square her Mars, Jupiter and Neptune in the 7th house, so basically this was not one transit, but the Uranus-Saturn square that brought about the Queens passing. Uranus-Mars is a tricky transit and relates to sudden and unexpected events. Uranus rules heart attacks and strokes and it appears to me she could have suffered a stroke, but the only reports that confirm her death state that she ‘died peacefully in her sleep.’

Jupiter is frequently involved in death and the Moon crossed her Jupiter that afternoon and Jupiter was conjunct her Mercury. Jupiter-Mercury indicates a peaceful passing at least in terms of the mental state and this also shows us her children were at her side as reported.

September 10th, we experienced a full moon at 17 degrees of Pisces. Pisces rules the 12th house of endings. The Moon conjuncted Neptune and sextiled Uranus, bringing us sudden, unexpected and shocking news of her death.  Pisces is the most spiritual of transits and a conjunction with Neptune is sometimes associated with death, or at times may seem other worldly at least.

Another telling indicator of the Queens death was in her deceased husband Phillip’s chart. The Pisces full moon opposed Saturn in his 8th house of death representing an ending. When people die, their charts live on and while we cannot presume to understand what is happening on the other side, the charts can still show us what is happening to those who were around them such as a spouse.

In the most often used chart of England (1-1-1801) the Uranus-Saturn square fell on Neptune at 18 degrees as well as Venus at 16 degrees of Scorpio. Uranus opposed Neptune from the 8th house of death showing us an eminent public death. As the full moon trined Uranus the chart showed us this would represent a powerful woman.

For most of those living, Queen Elizabeth has been woven into the collective consciousness of our world and society.  Unless you are over 70 years of age, you have never known anyone else to sit on the throne of England.

Whether a monarchy appeals to you or not, the Queens passing definitely signals the end of an era as does the Uranus-Saturn square in astrology. This is the last pass of this powerful aspect that has and will continue to change many things globally, including governments. It is not unusual to see public figures pass away on transits like this.

Queen Elizabeth lived a long and fruitful life, and many looked to her as a sign of stability in trying times, and she will be missed around the world.

The Queen is dead, long live the King.

Full moon in Pisces: I dream

This month’s full moon falls on September 9th, in the sign of Pisces and this is the last full moon of the summer, and the same day Mercury retrogrades. With retrograde Mercury on a full moon sometimes events connected with the full moon can be delayed, usually by only a matter of a few days.  Ironically, or not, Pisces represents the last house of the zodiac which has to do with endings as we enjoy the last few weeks before fall. Pisces planetary rulers are Jupiter, the planet of expansion and Neptune. Ideas, creativity, dreams and long held feelings and hopes may be front and center at this time.

Pisces rules the 12th house which represents things that are hidden such as spirituality and the subconscious mind, and Pisces is a healing and spiritual sign. It rules medicine, theater and film, art and the creative, psychic and spiritual world as well as collective receptivity. Most importantly this sign rules compassion, something the world is in dire need of at this time. As Pisces is associated with the 12th house, or the last sign of the zodiac, sometimes a moon that falls here signifies the end of an era of some kind.

The Moon sextiles Uranus which can give the energy an uplifting feeling along with a desire to tryout some new ideas or concepts. It will also conjunct Neptune which can be dreamy and uplifting, or alternatively confusing with very little clarity so this is not the best time to make important decisions. This is a moon to go with the flow on as Pisces is mutable and always shifting and changing. Don’t be surprised if your dreams aren’t more vivid than usual. This full moon also conjuncts Neptune. Under a Neptune influence you can soar to the clouds, or drown in the depths of despair. While the sign and the planet rule compassion and creativity, Neptune also represents drugs and addictions, confusion, illusion and delusion or lies, so it is important to keep your feet on the ground and in reality at this time.

On the world stage Neptune is associated with nuclear energy and nuclear weapons. On the morning of September 8th residents who live close to the Zaporizhzia nuclear power plant in Ukraine, the largest in Europe, are being urged to evacuate.

This Full moon is significant in the charts of all members of England’s royal family as the Queen’s doctors are expressing concerns for her health, and reports state family members have rushed to Balmoral to be by her side.

Pisces full moons are often connected with water related weather events, is it is possible we may see some type of weather event on or around this full moon.

In the US chart this full moon opposes Neptune in the 9th house of foreign entities and people and also squares Mars, setting off the natal Neptune square Mars in the US chart which falls in the 7th house of partners and ‘open enemies’ of the US. Transiting Neptune is currently opposing natal Neptune and square Mars in the US chart. The last time this transit was activated by Neptune in Pisces was just before the US Civil War.
