June astrology: Jupiter enters Leo!

June will be a little less difficult than May but it’s not so calm as we approach the latter part of the month.

During June the Sun transits through Gemini and enters Cancer. Mercury and Venus transit through Cancer and Venus leaves Cancer for Leo mid-month. Mercury in Cancer turns retrograde on June 29th. Mars finishes its transit through Taurus and enters Gemini. We will experience a new moon in Gemini and a full moon in Capricorn. Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion finishes its yearlong transit through Cancer and enters Leo. Now the details:

Jupiter enters Leo June 30-July 26, 2027

Jupiter is the planet of luck, gain, expansion and justice, good fortune and wisdom. It is always transiting through our natal charts and changes signs every year. Wherever Jupiter lands in our personal chart is where and how we are affected; typically for the positive and its where we see luck.

Jupiter has a big affect on the world as well as well as us personally. Since July 2025 Jupiter has been in Cancer, the sign that rules family, home, the homeland, our emotions and woman. Cancer’s ruler is the moon which represents women and our emotional lives as well as security. Jupiter transiting through Leo will bring a major shift in energies.

Leo is the sign associated with the 5th house of the zodiac; this is the house of friendship, children, entertainment, creativity, love and romance.

Leo is a gregarious and outspoken sign so expect energy to become bold and focused on self expression more than normal. Many will feel a sense of bravery and a desire to be more visible and take chances with risks.

Leo rules the heart so this will prompt people to spend money on entertainment, enjoyment and vacations or other pleasing experiences. Leo is typically a generous sign.

There may be some with over inflated egos and I’m sure this comes as no surprise along with grandstanding. For some there will be an urge to gamble overindulge or overspend.

Children may become more important in your lives in some way, or some women/couples may decide this year to have a child.

Jupiter is at home in a fire sign (Jupiter is ruled by Sagittarius) and Leo will encourage self-expression for the performing arts and it should be a good year for movies, TV and any of the arts. Entertainment in general will become more important as well fun. Don't we need more of this?

Jupiter is the sign ruling royalty and we may hear significant news of royals over the next year.

Leo holds the potential to be around or connect with flamboyant and charismatic people. The downside of Leo is often a need for attention.

Jupiter in Leo will help the fire signs in general along with Air, or those who have fire and air planets in their natal charts. It should greatly help those born under the sign of Leo, Aries and Sagittarius or anyone with planets in these signs.

Jupiter affects the US chart as well as other charts

Jupiter affects every chart including the chart of the US. Before Jupiter leaves Cancer it will conjunct Mercury in the 8th house which rules money, death, lawsuits, change and transformation at 24 degrees. It also opposes Pluto (in the US chart) at 27 degrees so any positive issue that may or may not occur at 24 degrees would be short lived. Jupiter’s opposition to Pluto  is exact the week of June 14th and it doesn’t have to be exact for events to occur. It is highly probable we will hear news concerning money and corruption, lawsuits, death and economics. We could hear more news of the Epstein files or matters related to sex and money.

The Sun enters Cancer June 21st

June 21st marks the summer solstice and the Cancer season. The Sun joins Jupiter and Mercury giving us 3 planets in the sign that rules the 4th house, home and family.

Whatever your age, this marks the start of the 3 month period when the child within wants to come out and play for a while in the Sun. Let your inner child run free if you can as this is the season of warm beaches, sunshine and dreams of romantic summer nights.  This month we may all be swept up in our emotions and feelings that are meant to find the inner moon child that lies within all of us, if only for a season.

Look for a huge energetic shift as the Sun in Cancer is much more about our feelings and what really lies in our hearts as opposed to our intellect and ideas when it was in Gemini. Cancer is the most sensitive sign in the zodiac, and like the Moon, feelings are always shifting and changing. The Moon changes signs every 2 and a half days and Cancer is dramatically affected by the changes. The moon represents our instincts and feelings that are not bound up in logic or reason.

Cancer is part of the water element and not only are water signs more sensitive and emotional than others they are typically in touch for their deepest feelings and psyche. Cancer can come across as moodier than others but they are also intuitive and perceptive.  Cancer is a caring and giving sign typically, and you may find yourself feeling more protective and comforting toward loved ones during this time, or spending time with a friend over a cup of coffee talking about their concerns.

Mercury enters Cancer June 1st

Mercury is the planet that rules all of our speech and communication whether it is writing, talking with others, thinking or anything else connected to the mind. When Mercury is in Cancer we intuit our feelings and conversation much more than during other times. During this time we will be more concerned with our emotional life and the emotions as well being of family members and those closest to us.

The emotionality of Mercury in Cancer will be something we will need to watch as this can lead to extreme emotional displays, reactions, and feelings that can get deeply hurt. The key with Mercury in this sign is to learn to think things through rather than react spontaneously and emotionally to what is said.

Thoughts of the past and trips down memory lane may be common as Cancer is typically drawn to the past. Sometimes, Cancer never lets go of the past, but relives it many times.

Mercury retrogrades

Mercury turns retrograde June 29th-July 23rd at 26 degrees of Cancer. While this is the official start of the retrograde it is at its most powerful during its stationary period June 29th-July 2nd. If this aspects something significant in your chart it can have a profound effect.

As most readers know retrograde Mercury is not the time to start anything new, begin a new job or buy any high ticket items. This is not the time to get married or engaged or start anything that can have significant consequences including buying real estate.

Machinery breaks down, snafus ensue, meetings are cancelled and people change their minds about many things. Communication can become difficult or drop off in certain cases.

The retrograde period is the time to re-access and re-do. Contacting those from our past is favored as is completing old projects. This is a time of looking back, taking stock of where we are and making plans; it is not yet time to act on anything new.

The direct station of Mercury is just as important and significant as the retrograde station at the beginning especially if it is aspecting an important point in your natal chart. In this case Mercury turns direct at 16 degrees of Cancer. This phase of the retrograde will last from July 23-27th and the shadow of the retrograde will last until August 6th. Each phase of the retrograde is important but pay particular attention to the periods when Mercury is in its station.

Mercury will remain in Cancer until August 9th when it goes into Leo.

Venus enters Leo June 13-July 9th

When Venus transits through Leo our thoughts turn to love, desire, passion and fun. Leo loves to indulge, eat, drink, buy beautiful things, socialize and be merry! The best and highest manifestation of Venus in Leo is childlike joy, fun and happiness along with mutual respect for yourself and others.

When Shakespeare wrote “All the world’s a stage and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts,” he must have surely been thinking of Venus in Leo.

Leo is entertaining, bold and dramatic and many will play out their dramas in real life between now and early September. We will experience a great deal of acting out and people will speak their minds, hopes, desires and needs in a bigger way.  Some will come across as flashier and make large gestures toward those they are romantically or physically attracted to. Now is the time to take a chance and extend the excitement of summer and the possibility of summer romance just a little longer.

With Venus in Leo love, affection and attraction are all center stage. Even those who are normally shy come out of their shells a little more at this time. Leo can make us feel love is grand, and isn’t this what most of us are really looking for?

June’s new moon

This month the new moon falls on June 14th at 24 degrees of Gemini and the lunar peak occurs at 10:54 PM, EDT. Gemini is the sign ruled by Mercury and is connected to the 3rd house of communication. This is also the house of immediate family, co-workers and neighbors. This moon is all about communication and makes no negative aspects in the sky so enjoy!

The Summer solstice

Not only is June 21st the official start of summer it marks the beginning of the Sun’s entrance into Cancer where it will remain until July 22nd.

Sun/Cancer marks the start of the short 3 month season of warm beaches, outdoor events and gatherings, sunshine and romantic moonlit summer nights.  Since summer and the Cancer season is the most romantic time of the year, get ready to focus on your feelings as well as those of others. Cancer is typically sensitive and emotional, laid back, home loving and focused on feelings above logic or intellect. Some will feel comfortable and content, and others will find the emotional energy difficult to deal with.

While Cancer rules the skies our focus will be on our emotional connections with others as well as home and family.  Cancer is ruled by the Moon which is the significator of women, our emotions, how we connect with others, family or those who are like family and what we need on an emotional level to thrive.  No matter what sign you were born under during this time we are focused on getting in touch with what we really need and want on an inner level to feel happy and secure.

Mars enters Gemini June 28-August 11th

Mars rules our action, desire and energy and enters Gemini is the sign ruling communication. All forms of communication will become more important, more assertive and there is a good chance we will say exactly what is on our minds. Our minds as well as our communication with others will be on fire for the next month and a half and be our greatest asset as well as our biggest problem if we are not aware of the pitfalls. That said, with some understanding of how the sign works, it can be a time of excitement, bright ideas, and an invigorating if not fun period of time.

Gemini rules the third house of the zodiac which is concerned with short trips, immediate family members and co-workers as well as our neighborhood or the area where we reside. Gemini is a mutable Air sign. Air signs are intellectual as opposed to emotional and mutable signs are very changeable, so we can expect to view things from a more detached viewpoint and change our minds often. Mars-Gemini loves a fast-paced environment with much coming and going so we can expect to be quite busy.

Gemini seldom moves in a straight line and likes to multi-task. People born with Mars in this sign may often do many things at once. They may drop one project to pick up another, because they know that in time they will come back around to it. Gemini likes variety and since they don’t always operate in a linear fashion this is why they are sometimes considered ‘fickle,’ which most times is just changeability due to new or different information.

As Mars begins its transit through Gemini it enters into a conjunction with Uranus becoming exact on July 3rd/4h at 3 degrees, but the affects of this transit can be felt before and after it is exact.

This is the most volatile transit of the month. This combination can be indicative of excitement as we approach the July 4th holiday but it is also indicative of explosive events, explosions, accidents, military or police events and unexpected events and news.

Uranus can involve the internet and electronics as well as electricity and aircraft/spacecraft. It rules lightening, technology and ideas ahead of their time.

Both Mars and Uranus are trine Pluto and sextile Neptune as well as Jupiter which could give us some support but will not negate the affects.

We could hear significant and unexpected news with this transit that involve unexpected events, explosive issues, explosions, accidents, weather or earth related events, US workers and the military. This aspect will become part of the full moon energy.

Full moon on June 29th

This month’s full moon falls at 8 degrees of Capricorn and squares Saturn and Neptune.

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the planet associated with work, delays, reality and obstacles.  It is the natural ruler of the 10th house of business, career and priorities.

Its square to Neptune can create confusion and misinformation or water related weather and issues. Its square to Saturn can be negative, tiring, and difficult and in certain cases some things may end depending on what it affects in your personal chart.

Mercury is retrograde on this full moon which could delay events or cause misinformation and the Mars/Uranus conjunction is in affect making this full moon more volatile and unpredictable than normal.
