The upcoming Saturn-Pluto square of 2028-29

There are about 10 major planetary aspects that occur in the skies periodically shaping our collective and individual destinies.  One of the biggest involves Saturn and Pluto. There is no doubt this is a harsh combination and the start of this particular cycle that begins with a conjunction was in January 2020 when Covid became a world event. Of course we experienced the lockdowns and rising death tolls every day. Both Pluto and Saturn were both conjunct and in the sign of Capricorn as this began.

This is an aspect that represents a period of intense changes in the world and is associated with geo-political changes. Pluto has now moved to Aquarius and established power structures are generally challenged during this cycle as you will see later in this blog.  Aquarius is a period of revolutionary changes around the world. This is a difficult but potentially dynamic period of time and changes that occur may not be easy but are often for the better at the end of the day.

Saturn represents our structures and Pluto often represents corruption and power. Saturn enters Taurus April of 2028 and Taurus is associated with money, resources, finances, food and farming and personal/collective values since it is ruled by Venus. Pluto in Aquarius is associated with innovation, collective movements and social change.

The first exact hit of this transit between Pluto and Saturn is on June 28, 2028 at 8 degrees. The 2nd is November 15, 2028 at 6 degrees and the final hit is March 29, 2029 at 8 degrees again. If you have fixed planets; Taurus, Leo, Aquarius or Scorpio at these degrees or within 2 degrees this aspect will affect you personally and bring about some significant change depending on what it is aspecting in your chart.

Let’s take a look at the last squares between Saturn and Pluto in the past century

-1907-08-Pisces/Gemini

-1922-Libra/Cancer

-1940-Taurus/Leo

-1955-57-Scorpio/Leo

-1973-74-Cancer/Libra

-1993-94-Aquarius/Scorpio

-2001-Note that Saturn and Pluto were in an opposition

-2009-10-Libra/Capricorn

All of these periods coincided with major societal change. In 1907 the world saw Oklahoma statehood, forced sterilization of people in institutions such as prison and mental hospitals for the purpose of eugenics, the panic of 1907 and transatlantic radio.

1922 saw Mussolini’s rise to power, formation of USSR, the end of the Ottoman Empire and formation of the BBC.

In 1940 the world was engulfed in WWll

1955-57 saw the start of the Montgomery bus boycott following Rosa Park’s arrest, the beginning of the space race and the polio vaccine, the ongoing struggle for civil rights and the start of the Vietnam War.

1973-74 led to the oil crisis and global recession, the Watergate Scandal, US president Nixon’s resignation and Roe v. Wade was passed.

1993-94 saw the first World trade Center bombing, the WACO siege, the Rwandan genocide, the Russian Constitutional Crisis and Amazon was founded.

2009-10 included ‘Arab Spring’, signing of the Affordable Care Act and the death of Michael Jackson.

This represents only a fraction of events that occurred during these years and as you can see that while this is a very intense time, strife with conflict, society typically makes many major advances during these times as well. It is a period of global upheaval and the emergence of new inventions, laws and ways of living.

In 2028-9 when we get the square it will be a test of how well we have collectively handled the systems that we have been building and creating since 2019-2020 when Saturn was conjunct Pluto. If they aren’t working then we will have to transform them into systems that work and with Pluto in Aquarius (power to the people) the systems will have to work for all of us not just the patriarchy or the 1% as it leans toward today Let’s not forget the past time Pluto was in Aquarius we saw not only the American Revolution but the very bloody French revolution as well and the end of the Monarchy in France.

Pluto in Aquarius has squared Saturn in Taurus 6 times since the year 1000.

-1058 at 24 degrees July 6th

-1059 at 26 degrees April 24

-1705 at 18 degrees-July 29th and August 30

-1706 at 18 degrees-April 11

-1794 at 26 degrees-December 11th

-1795 at 27 degrees-April 6th

In 1705 the Virginia Black Code was a law passed by Virginia’s House of Burgess that solidified race-based chattel slavery. This declared all non-Christians from non-Christian lands brought to the colony were slaves for live and established slaves as property. They were stripped of basic rights such as personal movement the right to bear arms or testify in court.

In 1706 French, Spanish, and Native American allies were fighting against the English colonies and their Native American allies. Benjamin Franklin was born this year.

1794 was a pivotal year for the United States, demonstrating the young nation's ability to assert its federal authority and maintain stability in the face of internal and external challenges. The Whiskey Rebellion in particular served as a crucial test for the new government, proving that it would enforce the laws of Congress and could maintain order.

Key events of 1794 included the Whiskey Rebellion in the United States, where farmers protested a whiskey tax, and the end of the Reign of Terror in France, marked by the execution of Robespierre.

Key events in 1795 included the end of the French Revolution's radical phase, significant treaties in U.S. history, the final partition of Poland, and the British capture of the Dutch colony at the Cape of Good Hope.

For the sake of brevity I will leave off the European history of 1058-59 but it included significant shifts in power within the Papacy, the continued Norman expansion in Italy, and a major revolt and consolidation of power within the Seljuk Empire.

While this article is focused on the squares beween Saturn and Pluto I didn’t want to leave off one of the worst events in US history which occurred in 2001 when Saturn in Gemini opposed Pluto in Sagittarius leading up to the events of September 11 with the destruction of the WTC when jihadists flew planes into the World Trade Center in NYC leading to the deaths of 2, 996 people in New York and Pa when another plane was aimed toward the Pentagon. Saturn and Pluto were in a 2 degree orb and this event clearly shows us how malefic these two planets can be when in hard aspect with each other.

While Saturn-Pluto transits can be difficult but they also coincide with some of societies greatest leaps forward (after a period of hard work).

2028 will be the beginning of the next election cycle in the US. I won’t go into that at this point but I do believe voters need to be aware of the propensity for abuse, voter suppression, intimidation and power plays that don’t benefit the people. Pluto in Aquarius however will be a great deal of pushback from the people should this occur. It will be a volatile period in the world that will lead to further change by the time we get to this point the world will be far different from what it is today.

September 2025; Saturn's last dance in Pisces and eclipses!

This month we will experience 2 eclipses in Pisces and Virgo. The Sun leaves Virgo for Libra and fall arrives on the 22nd! Mercury transits through a total of 3 signs and Venus leaves Leo for Virgo. Mars leaves Libra for Scorpio and Uranus retrogrades joining the rest of the outer planets now in retrograde. Saturn returns to Pisces and we have 2 eclipses!  Let’s look at the details:

This month Saturn re-enters Pisces for one final stretch September 1st, returning to Aries February 15th, 2026 giving us 5 more months with Saturn in Pisces. Saturn has been in Aries since May 26th showing us a preview of what this sign will be about from February 2026-April 2028.

Pisces and Aries couldn’t be any more different. Pisces is a water sign that rules the 12th house of endings and Aries is a Fire sign that rules the 1st house or beginnings and is ruled by Mars, the God of War. Pisces is ruled by Neptune, the planet of spirituality, creativity and delusion along with Jupiter the planet of expansion. The sign Pisces can be a double edged sword both confusing on the low end and spiritually uplifting on the other as evidenced by its sign of two fish swimming in opposite directions.

Pisces represents endings and Aries represents new beginnings. Basically we will be going back to the energy we experienced from March of 2023 until May of this year when Saturn returns to Pisces. What have we learned and what have we lost since May?

Saturn is considered at its fall in Aries which means the energy can be difficult to work with and it struggles to express its natural qualities in the most positive of ways while Saturn in Pisces is not debilitated. Additionally, Saturn/Aries is ruled by Mars, the God of War which makes it not only more assertive but more aggressive as evidenced by the events in the world since Saturn entered Aries in May.

Saturn will re-enter Pisces at 29 degrees and any planet at 29 degrees is considered a critical degree so we can expect major events to occur at this time. This degree can be fraught with turmoil and it represents the end of a period and the beginning of a new time.

Saturn will retrograde back to 25 degrees of Pisces at the end of October until late December and turns direct in late November at 25 degrees Pisces and starts to move forward once again

When Saturn is retrograde we tend to go back to past issues to resolve and the planets influence shifts from external forces to internal matters and thinking which prompts reflection of our goals and where we are going both personally and globally. Saturn turned retrograde July 13th.

Eclipses in Pisces/Virgo

The first of the fall eclipses falls at 15 degrees of Pisces. Pisces is the natural ruler of the 12th house of endings and its planetary rulers are Jupiter and Neptune. Eclipses can be like wildcards and often coincide with unexpected events and major changes in our lives. This is a total lunar eclipse which is like a full moon on steroids visible from the eastern Hemisphere but not North or South America.

Pisces eclipses are often linked with 12th house matters; endings, seclusion and spirituality along with things that are hidden and often come to light during an eclipse. Pisces is extremely sensitive and emotions may be deeply felt at this time.

While Pisces can be a romantic sign some relationships may fall away or end if they are tottering on the edge. Pisces can find its own magical version of reality and is deeply intuitive and artistic. Pisces is associated with dreams both literal and metaphysical so don’t be surprised if you don’t experience more vivid dreams and a desire to dive into the sometimes magical energy that Pisces can represent .

In the US chart this eclipse falls in the 3rd house of communications, neighborhoods, infrastructure and the means by which information is delivered such as newspapers, postal services, the nations media, roads and railways. The moon squares Mars in the 6th house which rules the military, workers, civil service and public health, all of which will be affected to some extent in the US. Neptune/Pisces have been associated with infectious diseases and unfortunately measles has made a comeback due to vaccine disinformation and other diseases may be coming back as well . Covid was one of the major world events during Neptune’s cycle in Pisces which will also be finishing up in the next 6 months. That said, I am not predicting a pandemic but it is important to follow those who keep us updated on factual medical information.

Moon-Mars transits usually denote anger and upset among the general population. This eclipse makes a significant aspect in the chart of US President Donald Trump as it squares his natal Sun/Uranus in his chart from the 7th house. This can relate to unexpected events and actions and surprising actions from those he may consider partners. It also squares his Sun which represents the vital core and in people of a certain age can at times relate to health matters.

Pisces and Neptune are often connected to water related weather events and Pisces rules the worlds’ oceans.

It is important to remember that the energy of an eclipse begins at least 30 days before and after so events connected to this eclipse will continue to play out in months to come.

Solar eclipse in Virgo September 21st

Eclipses come in pairs so the September 7th lunar eclipse is followed by a solar eclipse at 29 degrees of Virgo on September 23rd. Virgo rules the 6th house opposite the 12th so these 2 eclipses set off the 6th/12th house axis. The 6th house rules health, work and service to others so we need to watch health related matters personally and globally and see a Dr if there is a concern.

Virgo is ruled by Mercury the planet of communitarian, commerce young people and travel so communication will be important at this time.

The 29th degree and 0 degrees are considered anaretic degrees which means they are associated with karmic situations and intense experiences that can indicate turning points or even endings as discussed already. 29 degrees is also considered a peak before a new cycle begins. Not only is the eclipse at 29 degrees it opposes Saturn along with the Sun at 29 degrees. Mars is in Libra at 29 degrees as well so it looks like this is an eclipse that can bring substantial events in our lives and the world.

The Sun-Moon opposing Saturn can be negative, repressive, tiring and critical. Some relationships may end that could include business, romantic or otherwise along with relationships on the world stage. When the anaretic degree is involved whatever ends does not come back. If you have been living and viewing the world though rose colored glasses they may come off at the time of the Virgo eclipse.

Saturn also opposes Neptune with this eclipse. Saturn-Neptune transits can be connected with sneaky, behind door situations where information only comes out after the fact. It can also deal with confusion, delusion, lies and looking at things in a harshly realistic manner.

The Sun opposes Saturn September 20th, the day before the eclipse so expect events connected to this eclipse to start occurring earlier. Sun-Saturn is a tiring, negative aspect that is prone toward feelings of restriction and delays.

Since Mars enters Scorpio 12 hours after the lunar peak this becomes part of the eclipse energy as well. Mars-Pluto transits are associated with cruelty, violence, war, police and military events. This is one of the darker Mars aspects so use care. This will play out in the world in a significant way. At times this can be connected to financial matters and money.

You will be affected to a greater degree by this eclipse if you have planets in Gemini, Virgo, Pisces or Sagittarius in the late degrees.

September 6th Uranus turns retrograde until February 4th, 2026

Uranus retrogrades every year for about 5 months, but this is nothing like retrograde Mercury that can create chaos, communication problems and general disruption.

Unless you have a Uranus transit aspecting your personal chart, you may hardly even notice it, although the retrograde of this planet often coincides with significant world events that can happen on a large scale and this time in particular since it occurs just before an eclipse. Uranus is in Gemini but will retrograde back into the sign Taurus November 9th and turns direct in this sign at 27 degrees February 4th, 2026. It will not re-enter Gemini again until April 28, 2026 and will remain in this sign until May 2033.

The retrograde of Uranus is associated with inner change as opposed to outer changes in your life. We tend to make inner change during this time that will allow us more success in the outside world when the planet turns direct. The retrograde period can usher in more self awareness and ability to understand issues on a deeper level and it is typically easier to face any changes we need to make at this time. If you have been struggling in some way this may give you an opportunity to begin to heal and look for original solutions to standing problems as Uranus is the most innovative of planets.

Uranus is associated with freedom, often ‘freedom at any cost.’ This is why Uranus is associated with break ups, breaking free of things we find oppressive and divorce. This typically only occurs however, if Uranus is making a specific harsh aspect in your own chart or the chart of the person you are involved with.

If major change occurs under retrograde Uranus it will ultimately be for the better, even if it doesn’t seem this way at the time. Uranus is said to clear away the ‘dead wood’ in our lives or those things that have outlived their purpose so new doors and experiences can soon present themselves.

Mercury enters Virgo September 2-18

Mercury is the planetary ruler of both Gemini and Virgo. While Mercury in Gemini is associated with quick responses, intelligence, and communication about a many different ideas, Mercury in Virgo communication and thinking is geared more toward facilitating ideas, analyzing information and presenting facts in a straight forward and factual manner.

Gemini may reach out for information of all types and go in different directions but Virgo hones in on what is most important and puts that information to practical use. While both signs rule Mercury, they each have a very different approach and purpose.

Virgo is very discerning and is often considered lazar focused. The downside to Mercury in Virgo is that at times it can be so discerning one can become lost in details, overly critical or picky, and this can be misinterpreted (or not). It is important to remember that while constructive criticism is one thing, Virgo can get caught up in being so overly critical, others are turned off. Most of the time however, Virgo’s true intent is just to get things right.

Mercury enters Libra September 18-October 7th

Mercury/Libra likes to find balance and please others but this energy is known as being changeable. Libra is a rational sign that likes to weigh all options. Since Mercury/Libra has the ability to see things from all viewpoints, Libra -Mercury can seem indecisive, but most of the time it is really just a careful consideration of all options and viewpoints that may appear indecisive.

Libra has an innate sense of fairness and a reputation of being the peacemaker.  Bear in mind, the symbol for Libra is the scales of justice.

Mercury in Libra is typically diplomatic, charming, smooth, flirty and sympathetic. On the more negative end Libra can be indecisive, procrastinators, people pleasers at any cost and over-intellectualizing of certain subjects.

Mercury in this sign has the ability to see the big picture with great clarity. It is also a Cardinal sign which means change can occur due to active assertion of ideas or action.

September 19- October 13 Venus enters Virgo

Venus is the goddess of love and money and while in this sign has somewhat of a soiled reputation among astrologers as it is considered ‘at its fall.’ In layman’s terms this means the energies of Venus and Virgo are not especially compatible.

Virgo is a somewhat critical earth sign. There is a picky side to Virgo and while in this sign others (or you) can come across as overly critical and demanding. You may feel as though you are trying to help others help themselves and could blow things out of proportion, or your desire to help may be misunderstood so it is important to remember during Virgo’s transit most will ask for help if they feel they need it. Hurt feelings can arise if Virgo’s critical nature gets the upper hand.

With Venus in Virgo you may pay more attention to personal habits of others. Getting into a car for example, that is full of trash may be a real turn off, along with sloppy clothes, hair, nails or anything of this kind. During this time you will appreciate common sense and punctuality more than at other times, something Virgo excels at.

During Venus’s transit through Virgo we express our love in practical ways. Just being there or doing something that is helpful

Virgo can be a great helpmate, loyal friend or lover and you may be in no rush to begin a mad, passionate affair but go more slowly getting to know the true nature of your love interest.

Virgo can be warm, giving and interested in matters relating to day to day living with your significant other as opposed to wild fantasies and passion. Not that Virgo can’t be passionate but it may take some time to get there.

Venus in Virgo may not be the fieriest or most intense period in your love life, but Virgo has several qualities that cannot be denied namely integrity, warmth and compassion. These are powerful qualities connected to this sign along with warmth, concern and caring. Virgo has a natural healing ability as well. There is a lot to be said for Virgo’s calm, reasonable, protective and healing nature, especially considering the trying times we are experiencing. Coming home to a quiet dinner with someone who cares about your day can go a lot further in the end than someone who is all about flash and doesn’t really care how you are feeling about your life, so make the most of Venus in Virgo while she is in this often misunderstood sign.

The Sun enters Libra or fall solstice

The Sun enters Libra one day after the solar eclipse occurs or September 22nd where it remains for the next month. Libra is the sign that rules the 7th house of marriage, partnerships and courts and Libra’s ruling planet is Venus. Venus is concerned with money, beauty, love and values and our energies will be focused on relationships and others during this time, or alternatively you could meet someone new that becomes significant. Either way we will all be thinking more about relationships over the next month.

Make plans to socialize this month to the extent you can but don’t overbook yourself and then flake out. This can be the downside of Libra along with procrastination and a difficult time making up your mind. Libra can get so caught up in the pursuit of fairness, justice and looking at things from a detached angle they sometimes never get where they want to go by over thinking every point of view they encounter.

Since Libra is a Cardinal Air sign thoughts and ideas at this time will be large, and somewhat detached. Air signs are the thinkers and don’t like to slow down most of the time. Cardinal signs are the leaders and initiators and like forward movement. Libra does not like arguments, ugly comments, sordid situations or cruelty. The big clash you were expecting to have with your new boss or your best friend may no longer seem so important after all and you could find yourself taking a more peaceful approach. With Libra, people want to feel the love most of all.

You may find yourself getting more annoyed with anything that does not contribute to your own personal harmony, and may want to eliminate those who create drama or trauma in your life. The Libra season will be time to take a look at who is in your life, why they are there, and whether your own needs are being fulfilled in the most important relationships you have. The Libra season is a time to relax, socialize and spend time with those most important. Since Venus is Libra’s ruler, beauty and beautiful things may seem more important and desirable this month, along with art, jewelry, clothes and anything else that beautifies the environment you live in.

Mars enters Scorpio September 22-November 4th

Mars is the action planet and is connected to the way we approach things. Mars in Scorpio is considered powerful and Mars is one of the rulers of Scorpio giving it harmony with this sign.

Scorpio is a fixed sign, so energy does not move quickly like it did in Libra; a Cardinal sign. Mars-Scorpio will give us the ability to have more tenacity, and get to the bottom of things faster.

As Mars transits through Scorpio we may experience a drive to change or transform something in our lives whether it is small, or a larger life change. If there is a true desire for change there is very little that can hold us back with Mars in this very determined sign.

Mars in Scorpio is known to go where angels fear to tread and is seldom if ever afraid to explore the darker and deeper side of life. At times, this transit could spark an interest in serious self evaluation that can result in the ability to make deep changes within ourselves.

Any planet entering Scorpio can also be concerned with money, or other people’s money. This can include partners-both personal and work, as well as your own money.  Changes in finances may occur at this time, you could come with a budget, or you may simply go over your finances.  There will be a greater focus on money during this cycle along with sex and transformation in general.

The downside of Mars in Scorpio can relate to obsessions and/or darker feelings of revenge as Scorpio is co-ruled by Pluto. Pluto is a powerful planet that is associated with revenge, determination and destruction as well as transformation.

Pluto likes to tear down to rebuild in a better way but it is important to remember that if you are going to destroy something in your life it is best not to burn bridges you may have to walk back over at some point.

Used wisely, Mars in Scorpio can be a great help in developing our own personal power and self confidence. To do this well, we must learn to rise above feelings of bitterness or getting even over a perceived wrong or slight. Scorpio has a hard time forgetting and some may never let go of bitter feelings.

Positive traits such as determination, transformation, passion, intuition, and insightfulness describe Mars-Scorpio. The downside is moodiness, brooding, revenge, plotting and over intensity. Scorpio can be among the most highly evolved of signs or it can sink to the lowest depths. It is up to us to channel the positive side of this transit and grow with it. With Mars in Scorpio we can accomplish a great deal if we don’t get overwrought or let ego matters get in the way.

Mars was in Scorpio, December 9, 2017-January 27, 2018 and we saw the Me too Movement  take off, which if fitting for Mars in this sign, since it is associated with sex and the 8th house.

Since Mars enters Scorpio today it begins its square to Pluto which becomes part of the eclipse energy. This is a harsh if not cruel transit and associated with violence, wars, destruction and financial issues.

Other significant transits:

September 23rd on the heels of the Virgo eclipse the Sun opposes Neptune creating confusion and we can expect to see smoke and mirrors in the world. In other words it is unlikely we will hear the complete truth about events that may occur on or near this date. Neptune can be connected with gasses and water related weather events and Neptune rules the oceans.

September 24th Mars squares Pluto (exact) and the energy of this powerful square will begin even before Mars enters Scorpio September 22 and it will continue for at least a week afterward. This aspect is associated with violence, wars, military and police as well as anger and it could be present at the time of an accident so use caution. It can be constructive change but that meaning is a long shot. On September 24th the moon also squares Pluto in the early AM hours amping up the energies and giving us a double dose of extreme Pluto energy.

August 2025 astrology; Unexpected events and a mixed bag

This month the Sun leaves Leo for Virgo which is the mutable and last sign of summer. Mercury turns direct and continues its transit through Leo and Venus leaves Cancer for Leo bringing us one last blast of warm summer fun. Mars completes its cycle through Virgo and enters Libra and Jupiter hits its half way mark through Cancer. The full moon falls in Aquarius and the new moon in Virgo. This month the planets will form a rare ‘Star of David’ formation on August 3rd, and we will experience some very rocky patches in our lives and the world. Now, the details.

August 1st Venus squares Saturn, setting off the Saturn-Neptune square at 1 degree if Cancer-Aries. Venus rules money and women. The square to Saturn is not financially favorable and the square to Neptune creates confusion and lack of clarity making this a poor day for financial transactions and love, or meeting new people as you could be deceived or get the wrong impression. Clearly, this aspect related to the Trump tariffs in the US. Confusion may abound especially with retrograde Mercury. Wait for another day concerning important matters is the best advice and don’t make mountains out of molehills.

The Star of David configuration August 3rd

The Star of David, otherwise known as a grand sextile is a rare astrological formation that rarely occurs and is connected by 6 points that include the Sun, Moon and other planets.

This is a formation that is used in Judaism, Buddhism. Christianity and other religions but this configuration that appears in the sky is not connected with religion but rather astrology. Some astrologers believe that it portends significant events on earth and collective destiny.

The last star in 2024 contained a T-square between the Sun, Pluto and Mars which can denote violence and cruelty and the world has seen plenty of this over the past year with the wars that dominate the global scene and other horrific stories. The August 3rd star includes a square between Venus, Neptune and Saturn which signals no positive news for women’s rights and is negative for economic circumstances globally along with potential inflation as well as scandals, lies and disinformation.

This star does boast a sextile between Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, a trine between Saturn, Neptune, the moon and the outer planets; Saturn, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto are well aligned which can only be beneficial, especially in terms of technology, new inventions and ideas and communication. This transit is the great hope for a better world that will dominate 2026.

Nevertheless, the last star in 2024 contained a T-square between the Sun, Pluto and Mars which can denote violence and cruelty and the world has seen plenty of this over the past year so no one can argue with that. The August 3rd star includes a square between Venus, Neptune and Saturn which signals a continued erosion of women’s rights and is negative for economic circumstances globally as well as scandals, lies and disinformation.

The star is not totally visible from Earth as part of it is above the horizon and part below. In looking at this star I consider its meaning mixed; there are some great possibilities for the advancement of humankind and there are aspects that portend more of the same or even an escalation in propaganda and confusion.

Not enough research has been done on these configurations for me to feel totally confident about the outcome or its meaning but you be the judge as time always tells and we will see how it pans out in about a year.

A rollercoaster ride

This summer we are getting a brief feel of what all of the planetary changes we will experience over the next decade will be like. Saturn has entered Aries and will remain in this sign until August 31st, returning to Pisces on September 1st until February 2026.

Neptune is in Aries until October 26th when it retrogrades back into Pisces until January 2026 and Uranus is in Gemini until November 8th when it retrogrades back into Taurus until April 2027. Get a feel of these placements and how they work in your chart because they will return and be with us for a long time to come.

Saturn is currently conjunct Neptune and this transit will continue on as long as Saturn is in Aries this summer, then it will conjunct Pisces during from September until early 2026 and then Aries again throughout 2026.

Saturn-Neptune is a significant transit in the world and in our own personal lives. Saturn represents our reality and structures and Neptune dissolves them. This should be evident over the past several months around the world with the wars, tariffs, political discord, and changes and there is a great deal more to come. This month the Saturn-Neptune conjunction will be ‘set off’ by Mars which means the transit will play out in the world and in our lives if it aspects your personal natal chart.

Saturn/Neptune is a difficult transit that always coincides with major changes. It is fortunate Saturn and Neptune will sextile Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus will trine Pluto. It’s hard to know what this will bring, but it is positive and likely connected with some type or types of advancements for all of humanity even though Saturn is conjunct Neptune.  We may see the beginning of this aspect this summer but will be far more prominent in 2026.

Mars sets off the Saturn-Neptune conjunction

August 6th-13th, 2025 Mars in Libra opposes the Saturn-Neptune conjunction. This will affect events around the globe and all of those with Cardinal planets (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) at 1-3 degrees.

Mars/Saturn transits coincide with events that can seem cruel. This is a frustrating aspect that indicates delays and anger. It can be associated with military, police, violence, accidents and rage. Mars-Neptune transits can be connected with scandals, gasses, chemicals, water events and misinformation. Anger and frustration are part of this aspect on a personal and global level.

August full moon

We are also dealing with a full moon on August 9th at 18 degrees of Aquarius that may amp up the energies of the Mars/Saturn/Neptune transit. Retrograde Mercury will only heighten the confusion at this time. Since Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, it makes this an unpredictable full moon and transit.

In the US chart transiting Neptune is square Venus and Jupiter in the 7th house of open enemies as Mars begins its opposition.  This house also rules legal matters, treaties and agreements and the public’s perception of these matters. Mars will ‘set off’ a powerful square between these planets in the US chart so this will have a significant affect. Venus and Jupiter are the financial planets and the potential exists for conflicts with those considered enemies, financial downturns, legal matters that take precedence and issues involving women. In particular Venus and Jupiter relate to finances.

Jupiter squares Saturn in the US chart adding to the turmoil

August 12-16 transiting Jupiter squares Saturn in the US chart. No doubt this relates to the US President and is not favorable, nor is it favorable for finances and money. This transit occurred September 2013 and US President Barak Obama was seeking Congressional approval to strike Syria which was in civil war although later it was decided not to. When the transit reoccurred again in January 2014 notable events included the US Supreme Court blocking same-sex marriages in Utah, and a significant winter storm impacting the Gulf and Atlantic.

Internationally, the month saw the rise of ISIS in Iraq and a focus on ongoing negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear program.

This final pass of this aspect in 2024 brought a tornado outbreak in the US:  in the central and eastern United States, particularly affecting areas in the Midwest, Great Plains, and Southeast, including deadly tornadoes in Arkansas and Mississippi.

Also the Flint water crisis begins: Officials in Flint, Michigan switched the city's water supply to the Flint River, which would later lead to lead contamination and a public health crisis.

12 years earlier this aspect occurred in October 2001 and the US was undergoing significant trauma due to the September 11th attacks, the US invaded Afghanistan and anthrax attacks were ongoing. When it reoccurred later in the year Enron filed bankruptcy, and AA flight 587 crashed and Guantanamo Bay Prison was opened.

August 6th Mars enters Libra

Mars will enter Libra August 6th- September 22nd and is off to a rough start with its opposition to Saturn and Neptune as already discussed and we will see significant news play out.

Otherwise, Mars is our action planet and rules men, sex, the way we act and come across to others, conflict and wars to name a few.

Mars in Libra is considered at its detriment which means its action is weakened and this may represent a passive aggressive type of energy at times. Mars is ruled by Aries, and Libra is the opposite sign so this placement is not as active or action oriented as it would be in other signs. That does not mean however it is bad or negative, just different. Mars in Libra can be quite pleasant and peaceful, and most will make a greater attempt to avoid unpleasant scenarios.

Whereas Mars in Virgo is action and accomplishment oriented, Mars in Libra is more about companionship, relationships, and creating balance and harmony with others, so our actions and direction will change as well. During this period Mars is in Venus’s sign, so we will be driven by Venus, which is all about love, beauty, peace, harmony, fairness and our values. Mars/Libra is concerned with creating harmony, justice and avoiding conflict, and some may be more focused than ever on finding or maintaining a relationship. Libra is represented by the scales of justice, and fairness or justice to all becomes more important with Mars in this sign. Libra likes to balance things, weigh both sides of a question and then make an informed and intelligent decision, as do all Air signs.

At times Libra represents courts, lawyers and court battles as well, but Mars moving into this sign is not going to create a court battle or lawsuit without some other very heavy aspects in your personal chart. If you are engaged in a legal situation, there could be more activity during while Mars is in this sign, and we may see more in the news about courts and legal battles.

Negative qualities of Mars in Libra can include procrastination, lack of decisiveness in action, and avoiding any conflict at all costs for the sake of not rocking the boat. Mars-Libra can almost sense conflict before it occurs and is adept at knowing when dissention is going to happen so this is a great sign for conflict management and resolution. Libra is not the most decisive placement for Mars, but eventually things get done.

One famous Mars in Libra is Abraham Lincoln, who once said, “Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them?’  This is the epitome of Mars-Libra.

Mercury turns direct!

Mercury turns direct at last August 11th at 3:30AM, EDT at 4 degrees of Leo. This doesn’t mean we are out of the woods however. During Mercury’s direct station from August 11th-14th things often reverse direction once again or new information is revealed. Next to its retrograde direct period in the beginning this time is most often the period when issues occur or something changes. Wait these few days if you have something important because I have seen screw ups occur over and over leading to regrets during these important days when it is very powerful. Mercury will remain in its shadow period returning to normal until August 24th.

The Sun enters Virgo

The Sun enters Virgo, the final sign of summer August 22-September 22nd.

Virgo is a mutable or changeable sign ruled by Mercury the planet of communication. This sign is the natural ruler of the sixth house of work and health and it signals to us that now is the time to get organized, focused and pay attention to our health and day to day activities.

Virgo energy is associated with healing and it is detailed and focused, intellectual, grounded, health conscious, stable, analytical, critical, conscientious, discriminating, fastidious, and modest so we should expect to see these characteristics and qualities play out in our world and with those around us during this time. Stores are stocked full of notebooks, and all types of things to organize, and prepare for success. Everything has its season and this is the time for planning, implementing plans and moving forward in a more organized and fruitful way. Virgo teaches us to work smart, instead of just working hard.

While Mercury rules both Gemini and Virgo, conversation and thought tend to be more detailed and focused while in Virgo. Gemini is more expansive, but can be scattered and not as detail oriented as Virgo, so each sign plays its role with Mercury in a different way.

Virgo has a natural and instinctive understanding of the connection between body, mind and soul so this is an auspicious time to kick start your own well being and treat your body with respect. Now is the time to make positive changes in diet, fitness, and explore natural remedies if this seems appropriate or visit a Dr. If you have any health concerns.

The downside of Virgo can be a desire for perfection which sometimes leads people to believe Virgo energy is about fault finding and being overly critical. This can be true at times but at the core, Virgo energy is concerned with facts and seeing all matters clearly. Virgo is in tune with doing things the correct way and getting down to the problem solving. In other words, Virgo simply wants to get things right and sometimes this can manifest in overly critical or perfectionist tendencies. While these intentions may be well meaning, not everyone takes criticism well, or considers it constructive, so this is an area that needs to be watched as we travel through the Virgo season each year.

Since the Sun rules leaders in mundane astrology the probability exists of a sudden change or even death of a world leader. It could be any one of many. We can expect sudden events in the world and Uranus is often considered explosive in nature.

The August new moon in Virgo August 22

Happy birthday Virgo; this is your birthday new moon! This moon falls at 0 degrees of Virgo which means it squares Uranus in Gemini making it very unpredictable and powerful. Some new moons are more powerful than others such as the July new moon that opposed Pluto. This one will be more powerful as well with its square to the planet of unpredictability.

Virgo is ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication and it is the ruler of the 6th house of work, health and pets.

Uranus always brings change, sometimes expected, sometimes unexpected. Uranus is about freedom; sometimes at any cost, separations, rebellions, coups and it can keep us on our toes. Change is not always bad, sometimes it is needed. This moon is prone toward looking at things differently or potentially taking a different path than expected.

The Sun also squares Uranus in the early morning hours making this moon even more changeable and unpredictable. This will affect you personally if you have mutable planets (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces) at 0-3 degrees. We can expect to see many unexpected events around the globe today and during the days surrounding this new moon. Potentially we may hear unexpected news connected to a world leader.

Venus enters Leo

Venus enters Leo August 25-September 19th bringing us one last blast of summer fun!

Get ready for a big energy shift in your love life, social life and even financial life as Leo is the most dramatic of all signs for Venus to transit through. Venus rules love, values, our social lives and Venus is a financial planet as well.

When Venus transits through Leo we radiate with extra fire and desire for love. Leo loves to indulge, buy beautiful things and have fun! The best and highest manifestation of Venus in Leo is childlike joy, fun and happiness along with a deep seated loyalty toward those we really trust.

When Shakespeare wrote, ““All the world’s a stage and all the men and women merely players,” he must have been thinking of Venus in Leo.

Leo is bold and dramatic and will play out their dramas in real time if they feel slighted. There will be a great deal of acting out and people will speak their minds and their needs in a bigger way.  Some may appear or come across as flashy and grand or make big gestures toward those they are romantically attracted to. Love, affection and attraction becomes more outgoing, affectionate romantic and driven. Venus in Leo lives to be adored, pampered and made to feel special.

The downside to Leo comes when things go sideways and then personal drama can be extreme, egotistical, and actions or conversations can occur simply for the dramatic effect it will have. Being a fixed sign, Leo can be stubborn and arrogant at times. Venus in Leo means we will take our relationships and friendships more seriously and can be easily hurt if things don’t go as Leo thinks they should.

Leo is known for having a certain steadfastness and loyalty that is unique to the sign. Venus-Leo does not like to lose friends and will only do so if they feel they have not been treated in the correct way or have been mistreated. Trust is all important with Venus-Leo.

August 26th, Venus opposes Pluto. This is not a great transit for Venus and prone to obsessions, arguments, breakups in some cases and often unexpected information is revealed. The key is to stay calm today and let this energy pass. It can certainly relate to deep thinking and decision making concerning relationships. This is a transit often seen in cases of domestic violence.

A great rest of the summer!

Uranus enters Gemini July 7th; the plot changes!

This month the Sun transits through Cancer and enters Leo. Mercury retrogrades in Leo July 18-August 11th. Venus transits through Taurus and Gemini and then enters Cancer at month’s end. Mars continues its transit through Virgo as Jupiter completes its first full month in Cancer. Neptune and Saturn both turn retrograde and we experience a full moon in Capricorn and a new moon in Leo.

The most significant transit this month/year is Uranus’s entrance into Gemini where it will remain until November 9th. This will further change the world and our personal lives as well. Now, the details.

Uranus enters Gemini July 7th-November 8th

Uranus has been in Taurus since May of 2018. Like the other outer planets we will have a preview this year of what to expect when the planet of the unexpected goes into the next sign or Gemini from July 7-November 8th. In April of 2026 Uranus will re-enter Gemini where it remains for the next 7 years.

Uranus rules technology, freedom, upheaval, explosions, aircraft, electricity and future advancements. While in Gemini it also rules all forms of communication.

While Taurus rules the 2nd house of money with Venus as its ruling planet, Gemini rules the 3rd house of communication, speech and thinking, and its planetary ruler is Mercury the planet of communication. Uranus has not been comfortable in the sign of Taurus and is considered at its fall here which means the energy is not smooth, and the benefits Uranus are not so strong. You might even say the planet can ‘misbehave’ if they are not comfortable in their sign.  Uranus is comfortable in Gemini and neither at its fall or exaltation so the energy of the planet will operate in an easier manner.

Communication and the ability to communicate will change dramatically under this aspect and we will make huge advancements in technology, travel, communication and new ideas. Gemini is about reason, and is always taking in new information. Certainly a large part of this transit will concern AI and the transitions this will cause and create.

Uranus returns to Gemini every 84 years and spends about 7 years in each sign. Uranus was in Gemini during the following periods;

-1939-1945

-1861-1865

-1775-1783

Some astrologers associate Uranus/Gemini with the US entering a period of war, and you can see from the last and only 3 periods since the birth of the US this has been the case.  The conflict this transit will bring will be a conflict of ideas as shown by the symbol that represents Gemini; the twins.

The upside to Uranus entering Gemini this time is the fact that it will  sextile Saturn, trine Pluto and sextile Neptune. This is not a combination we have seen before and can only be beneficial and bring good results in the world.

The full moon in Capricorn July 10th

Capricorn is the sign that rules the 10th house of career, business and reputation. Its ruling planet is Saturn or the planet that gives us stability. This moon will oppose the Sun as it does on every full moon and this can sometimes make people more emotional so it is important to stay grounded. The moon also trines Mars making it the perfect time to take action that perhaps you have waited for. I would call this aspect forward movement. This moon makes no negative aspects.

The sign Capricorn is about building things. This can be a literal project or metaphorical. Capricorn is also strongly connected with the earth and nature.

Mercury retrogrades July 18-August 11th

This time Mercury retrogrades in Leo at 15 degrees. As I have written many times the stationary periods of Mercury as usually the most difficult and when we see Mercurial energy change. These periods are the beginning and end of the cycle or July 18-21st and August 11th-14th.

Leo is the sign that rules the 5th house of love, friends and children so these are significant areas to be aware of this time.

Mercury is about re-doing things, re-accessing and basically cleaning out closets both literally and metaphorically. It is an important (if not irritating) cycle when new information can be revealed that allows us to correct or change things that needed to be changed.

Retrograde planets are often associated with ‘fate’ or changing something that needs to be changed; sometimes we can be unaware we are actually dodging a bullet even if the situation is stressful in the moment.

Retrograde Mercury has a strong connection to the past; old lovers and friends sometimes return or we are flooded with memories of the past. Now is the time to reach out to old friends, clients or anyone else you would like to reconnect with.

Venus enters Gemini July 4th-July 30

When Venus enters Gemini love energies change once again and this will be completely different from Venus in Taurus that we have just experienced. Venus is now in Mercury’s sign which rules all communication and the written word. Of course, the drive to communicate may take many different forms and you don’t have to write a novel to make the most of this placement…although you could!

Venus in Gemini is concerned with ideas, truths, and she is not interested in being bored. Manners count as does intelligence, the ability to think quickly and interact with all kind of people.

Venus in Gemini enjoys many different types of people and can flit from one group to another with little notice, and often expect their partner to be able to travel with them at the speed of light if necessary.

Gemini is associated with the third house of the zodiac which rules communications, sales, writing ability, media, advertising, publicity, short journeys, neighbors, and siblings.

Venus in Gemini has a reputation of being fickle and changeable. Gemini can come across like this but the fact is it is their nature to take in information from all sources. As the information changes or another viewpoint comes to light they may change their mind about something. In the end it’s not about being fickle, it’s more about being able to see many things from many different vantage points.

Neptune turns retrograde July 4th-December 10th

During this retrograde cycle Neptune will leave the sign of Aries and re-enter Pisces on October 23rd for 4 final months in the sign. In February 2026 it re-enters Aries where it will remain until March 2039.

Neptune rules psychic ability, religion, compassion, creativity and dreams. It also rules drugs, illusion, delusion and confusion and even the oceans to name only a few of the most important things it represents. Neptune also rules the collective consciousness.

Neptune’s retrograde will bring about more sensitivity and we may be able to pick up on things we don't perceive while Neptune is direct.

Neptune can represent the part of you that likes to escape from day to day activities into fantasy, music, substances, romantic love (or other ways) and in some cases impossible romantic situations. During its retrograde events can happen that bring about a much needed reality check. Neptune isn’t trying to destroy your dreams; it’s more like trying to point you in a direction where real dreams can actually come to fruition.

If transiting Neptune makes a hard aspect in your chart, during this period we tend to become self deluding or depressed. Hard Neptune transits often coincide with over idealized relationships, only to wake up and find things were not as we had believed.

If you do not have a hard Neptune transit Neptune’s retrograde may pass will little notice.

Saturn retrogrades July 13th-November 29th

This year Saturn, like Neptune, will retrograde through two signs. It begins the retrograde in Aries and on September 1st it re-enters Pisces for the final stretch of its stay in this sign which ends on February 14th, 2026,

Saturn's retrograde can be a pivotal time when many changes occur, especially if it is aspecting something in your personal chart.

When you experience a Saturn transit, you generally get three passes and the retrograde pass is always the most challenging. Hard Saturn transits are associated with delays, slowdowns, endings and various difficulties depending on what it is aspecting in your personal chart. During Saturn’s retrograde you may have to work harder to get what you want.

As Saturn deals with our structures in life we may be concerned with basic security issues while Saturn is retrograde both individually and collectively. Retrograde Saturn is a period where some things may slow down a bit and like any retrograde planet is time to reconsider and sometimes back up to take a good luck at what we are working on and where we are going in life.

During the retrograde cycle we may receive new information about something significant or find a solution to a problem that has been plaguing us which is the benefit of the retrograde. Retrograde Saturn is a time of working out issues especially in terms of business but could include any area of life depending on where it is in your chart. This is a time of doing the hard work to accomplish what you want, and at times it can bring personal and spiritual growth as a result of dealing with hard to solve problems.

The Sun enters Leo July 22-August 22

Leo is ruled by the Sun which gives us life and warmth and at this time of the year is impossible to ignore. Leo energy is confident and bold and this can be a positive time of friendship, fun and summer romance. Leo is an upbeat sign and now is the time to enjoy this part of the summer because when the Sun moves into Virgo later in August things will become much more work oriented.

Leo is a fire sign and fire signs are prone to action, movement and creation, and they seldom let grass grow under their feet. When the Sun is in Leo we often want to shine, be in the spotlight and receive attention, or even come across as dramatic. Leo energy is not afraid to be front and center or larger than normal life and extraordinary. Even those who like to typically remain behind the scenes could start to desire more recognition and praise for what they do.

Leo is a regal sign that rules royalty, theatre and acting. With the Sun in a fire element and the power of the sign Leo behind it, this becomes a take charge kind of energy. At best this energy can help you take command of your life, express yourself your way in an adventurous and striking way, and inspire more confidence. At worst its worst, Leo can be overly dramatic and too demanding of attention.

The new moon in Leo July 24th

This will be a significant new moon. Of course Leo rules the 5th house of love, children and friends so we may see events occurring in these areas.

Both the Sun and the new moon oppose Pluto. Pluto rules power and control and this moon may bring certain things to light in our lives and the world. Pluto is also connected with decay, money sex and death and in particular sex and money.

Under this aspect some may become obsessive in nature or find ourselves digging for information. Sometimes a Moon-Pluto aspect can be associated with emotional breakdowns or skeletons coming out of the closet.

While Pluto has the power to transform something, it’s not easy and Pluto frequently deals with situations or things that have broken down.

We will however have certain aspects that will help us overcome the more difficult aspect the moon makes.

-The moon trines Saturn giving us grounding

-The moon sextile Uranus awakening us to new possibilities and ways of approaching things.

-The moon trines Neptune providing compassion and creativity.

With a moon like this it is importantly to focus the energy on something and make it work for you as against you. No doubt under this moon we will see significant world events and grandstanding.

Venus enters Cancer July 30th-Agust 25th

When Venus enters Cancer it will join Jupiter in Cancer making this an auspicious time for water signs in particular. For the first several days of the transit it will square Saturn and Neptune creating confusion, blocks and slowing things down. After this however, we will begin to see the benefits.

Venus, the planet of love, values will create an energetic change but is in a pleasant sign for the planet ruling love. This will bring deeper emotions to the surface and cause us all to think more about our emotional ties and commitments. Cancer is the nurturer of the zodiac and always there when a friend or loved one needs her. She is also one of the most intuitive and sensitive signs of the zodiac so don’t be surprised if you feel more tuned in to your feelings and those of others, and find yourself feeling more of a desire to comfort and be comforted by those you love.

Venus-Cancer is not interested in casual flings and will have a greater desire for long term relationships and all of the security that typically comes with this type of relationship. Cancer is about home, family, relationships and security, both financial and otherwise.

Cancer is a Cardinal sign or a mover and a shaker and a born leader. You may lean toward more emotional decisions regarding your finances, investments, work projects and other important areas of life as Cancer is best described by the words, “I feel.”

You may also feel far more nostalgic over these three weeks and indulge in pleasant memories of the past, as Cancer has their own personal fountain of memories, good or bad.
