Neptune and Saturn enter Aries; March 31st and May 24th 2025

March 31-September 23rd Neptune enters Aries

Neptune rules the unconscious both individually and collectively. It is the planet of creativity, spirituality, compassion and humanitarianism but it also rules lies, deception, misinformation and confusion along with addictions and drugs to name only a few. Neptune’s planetary rulers are Jupiter and Neptune and it is considered ‘at home in Pisces where it has been since February 2012. When a planet is at home it is very powerful and considered by astrology to operate well.  Operating well, does not mean we have to like the results, but whatever it does is very powerful.

Neptune has a dual nature. On one hand Neptune experiences can cause you to soar to the clouds, involve creativity, selfless love, spiritual experiences, compassion, dreams and high hopes. On the other hand Neptune transits can be indicative of self deception, lies, addictions and totally incorrect thinking or confusion.

This year Neptune will transit through Aries from March 31-October 23rd before returning to Pisces again until January 27th, 2026 when it re-enters and will remain in Aries until March 23rd, 2039. Neptune spends long periods in each sign which makes it a significant and world changing event when it does change signs. When Neptune changes signs the collective consciousness changes as well.

(Neptune in) Aries is ruled by Mars the planet of war and aggression, action and it also rules men.  This is far different from laid back Pisces ruled by Jupiter and Neptune, the planets of gain, expansion (Jupiter) and illusion, delusion and spirituality (Neptune).

Aries rules the first house or the self. We will all be driven to accomplish our personal goals. Neptune in Aries will put impulsiveness in the sign of service and spirituality and even with Neptune’s veil we may see things in a clearer cut way over the next few years as opposed to Neptune in Pisces and its totally unclear aspirations.

We could see those who are pioneers, tech experts, religious zealots and extremists all determined to carry out their goals but others who aren’t in these categories will be just as determined to carry out and live their convictions. Wars are possible with Neptune in this sign as it is ruled by Mars. We must be careful not to develop a war like and aggressive mentality which has happened in the past.

Neptune’s last transit through Aries

One way astrologers predict what will happen when planets change signs is by looking at what happened in the past. History is never exactly the same but it does repeat itself.

Neptune was last in Aries from 1862-1875. Of course this period covered the US Civil war. It also led to advances in chemistry and drugs. Spiritualism was prevalent but how much of it was real and how much an illusion is hard to know. It was a difficult time but the end result was positive.

During the parts of the year Neptune is not in Aries it will be at 29 degrees of Pisces.  Neptune has been in Pisces since April of 2011 with a short foray back into Aquarius for a few months. This is how the outer planets operate; we get a preview of what the sign will bring before it enters for a long period of time.

The 29th degree is considered a critical degree and is significant. We may be seized with an urgency we have only a short time to correct something and critical events may well occur during these periods. We are leaving the old for the new. It’s up to every one of us to not be complacent and make the future what we want and to work for all not just selected individuals.

Saturn enters Aries May 26th-September 2nd.

Saturn leaves Pisces and dips its toes into the next sign which is Aries. There could not be 2 signs any more different. Aries rules the 1st house of the zodiac; Pisces rules the 12th house or last house of the zodiac or endings. Like the 29th degree, the 0 degree is also considered critical. The 0 degree of Aries is considered the ‘world point.’ Not only does the zodiac begin here, we may all be concerned with events that can affect us all with a planet at this degree. Saturn in Aries will move from 0-1 degrees this year before returning to Pisces for the next 5 and half months like Neptune will.

Aries is ruled by Mars the planet of action and aggression. With Saturn in this sign we may take more initiative.  Aries can be connected with courage and responsibility and leadership but some may develop a short fuse.

We will need to watch for impatience, fear of failure, authority issues and burnout along with a desire to fight. That does not mean all fighting is bad. Many will fight for what they believe is right at this time.

When Saturn changes signs our lives change along with the world and what happens with you personally depends on where Aries falls in your chart. Aries is found somewhere in

Saturn in Aries is unfavorably placed as it is considered at its fall in astrology. This means it is at its weakest state and is not comfortable with the energy. You might say it can ‘misbehave’ in this sign.

The last few cycles of Saturn in Aries occurred during the following dates;

Apr 25, 1937 to Mar 20, 1940

Mar 3, 1967, to Apr 29, 1969

Apr 7, 1996, to Feb 28, 1999

As you can see from the dates we experienced WW11, Vietnam and the US involved in ‘operation desert strike,’ and of course there was the Kosovo conflict to name only several critical world events during the last period.

Saturn conjuncts Neptune

When Saturn enters Aries it will conjunct Neptune in Aries the entire time it is in this sign in 2025. When Saturn and Neptune return to Aries in 2026 they will conjunct again and this period will last for approximately 3 years.

Saturn and Neptune have a confusing and dissolving affect at the same time. Saturn represents structures and Neptune dissolves.  Saturn squared Neptune in 2015-16. We experienced many changes at that time and politics took a new twist.

An aspect like this is rare and not only does it affect us, it has a global affect.

Saturn last conjuncted Neptune in Aries in 1702-1703. Prior to this it was 1380, so this is a rare occurrence for these planets to co-mingle in the sign that rules the 1st house.

In 1702 St. Petersburg in Russia was founded. Some astrologers associate this transit with Russia and it certainly appears to be the case since these transits were associated with the Russian revolution and Stalin who died in March 1953. Vladimir Putin was also born during this cycle along with Jinping, current President of China so I expect the upcoming Saturn-Neptune will have some type of significance with these leaders even if its death.

It is likely this period will usher in social unrest. Information will be foggy, misinformation will be rampant and we will need to be able to think clearly and check and recheck the information we absorb since we can expect continued propaganda, conspiracy theories and lies. We are also at risk of new viruses or a resurgence of the old if precautions aren’t taken.

Saturn-Neptune historical events

1989 saw Saturn and Neptune conjunct in the sign of Capricorn. During this time the Berlin wall came down and we saw the fall of communism in Eastern Europe, the Romanian Revolution, the Tiananmen Square Protests, and the ‘Velvet revolution in Czechoslovakia. George H Bush was inaugurated; the World Wide Web was introduced and a major earthquake struck in Loma Pieta, Ca.

Saturn and Neptune conjoined in 1952 in the sign Libra. This conjunction saw a polio epidemic and The Great Smog in London which alerted the world of the dangers of the use of coal.

In 1917 Saturn and Neptune were conjunct in Leo and America entered WW1, the Russian revolution occurred and we saw the Spanish Flu that killed between 17-100 million deaths worldwide.

Everything that occurs under this transit is not negative, but it is a confusing period and we will have to shift through what is accurate and what is propaganda or information pushing someone’s agenda.

A significant period in August

One of the most significant dates during the Saturn-Neptune conjunction is August 6th-13th, 2025 At this time Mars in Libra opposes the Saturn-Neptune conjunction. This will certainly play out in terms of events around the globe and will affect all of those with Cardinal planets (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) at 1-3 degrees.

Mars/Saturn transits coincide with events that can seem cruel. This is a frustrating aspect that indicates delays and anger. Mars-Neptune transits can be connected with gasses, chemicals, water events and misinformation. Anger and frustration are part of this aspect on a personal and global level.

We are also dealing with a full moon on August 10th at 10 degrees of Capricorn that may amp up any situation that is occurring. It will oppose Venus and Jupiter, the 2 money planets and Venus rules women. Retrograde Mercury will only heighten the confusion at this time

Saturn/Neptune can be a difficult transit in the world. It is fortunate however these (Saturn/Neptune) planets will sextile Pluto in Aquarius. It’s hard to know what this will bring, but it is positive and likely connected with some type or type of advancements for all of humanity even though Saturn is conjunct Neptune.  In future years starting in 2026 Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, Pluto in Jupiter will all be in positive aspect with each other. As far as I know, this has never occurred. Look to see advancement in technology, science, medicine, and it’s hard to know what else at this point. Aquarius also rules ‘we the people.’ If conditions are not satisfactory the people will rise up and demand change. This may be starting now but this is only the start and it will happen on a global level.

Conclusion

Saturn and Neptune do not blend well together. Saturn represents our structures such as governments, laws, institutions and the things we have come to depend on. Neptune has a dissolving influence and we will see many of our structures dissolve into something else for better or worse.

This can represent a time of uncertainty, lack of clarity and even depression. When structures dissolve they aren’t immediately replaced which can create insecurity, uncertainty and a feeling of being lost. The real and the unreal can combine so that it becomes hard to know what is real and what is not.

Saturn and Neptune don’t blend well because they are two different types of archetypes. Saturn wants stability, security and for things to be sound. Neptune wants to dissolve structure and make things vague, confusing and not so solid and herein lies the clash.

You beliefs about reality and the world around us may be seriously tested. What is real seems unreal and what is unreal may seem to be reality at this time.

Since Aries rules the first house or the self now may be the correct time to ask yourself; Who am I really? This can be an opportunity to recreate yourself and become more the person you have always wanted to be.

This doesn’t happen overnight and without a great deal of work. The harder we try and hang onto the old structures the more difficult things will become. Instead, try and focus on something new or something that you have wanted to do or be for some time. Now may be the perfect time. At best you can awaken to a new sense of reality and make your dreams come true. Since Neptune rules spirituality you can also awaken to new spiritual dimensions or find new spiritual meanings. The world is definitely changing and it starts now.
