2026; A new chapter in world history!

Off to a rough start

We began 2026 with a Full moon in Cancer opposing Mars January 3rd. This was followed by the new moon in Capricorn January 18th. On the Cancer moon the US invaded Venezuela and a woman was shot and killed by ICE in Minnesota as the world watched.

On the Capricorn moon Donald Trump threatened European tariffs again on countries that don’t support his idea of taking over Greenland and a train wreck in Switzerland killed dozens and so we began the New Year.

The Cancer-Capricorn axis lunar cycle is often associated with patriotism, or what goes under the guise of patriotic. The energy of this New moon will last until the next full moon February 1st.  January 2026 is a difficult month.

January 27th Mars is conjunct Pluto at 3 degrees of Aquarius. This will play out in the world as volatility if not actual violence and it can also connect to financial issues and arguments over money and spending.

As far luminary events go the Full moon on February 1st in Leo also opposes Mars is still within orb to Pluto at this time. Leo full moons coincide with grandstanding and attention seeking, especially in politics. The sign Leo also rules royalty so we may hear of news in these quarters as well.

It seems to me the US is at a tipping point as we start the New Year. It will be up to the people to decide where we are ultimately going. It may not seem like it now but ultimately Pluto in Aquarius is going to be about the will of the people, not the politicians and the people will prevail just as they did the last time Pluto was in Aquarius. (The Revolutionary war and The French Revolution) I am not saying we are going to face another bloody revolution but a revolution is under way, nevertheless.  It’s just a different kind of Revolution taking place through politics, laws and ideas.

Saturn is conjunct Neptune in Pisces; redefining reality

During January we will reach the peak of the Saturn conjunct Neptune transit in Pisces that was with us throughout 2025.  This transit is associated with world change and upheaval. Saturn rules our structures and Neptune dissolves them.

Neptune rules the unconscious both individually and collectively. It is the planet of creativity, spirituality, compassion and humanitarianism but it also rules lies, deception, misinformation and confusion along with addictions and drugs.

January-February we experience the final pass of Neptune in Pisces which have been at 29 degrees which is considered a critical or anaretic degree. This is a culmination or the energy before it moves to the next sign. Sometimes the term disaster degree is used when a planet is at 29 and the word disaster comes from ancient Greek and Italian roots meaning ‘bad star.’

Saturn-Neptune is confusing and can be a depressing transit especially in Pisces. Neptune has been in Pisces since 2011 and Saturn entered Pisces March 2023. During January we are at the end of this road and things will soon change as the planets change signs.

. On January 26th Neptune leaves Pisces and enters Aries. We will soon experience the Saturn-Neptune conjunction again in the sign of Aries.

Neptune enters Aries January 26, 2026-March 2039

Neptune was last in Aries from 1862-1875. Of course this period covered part of the US Civil war. Aries is ruled by Mars the planet of war and aggression, action and it also rules men; some of whom may experience an identity crisis of some sort during this Neptune cycle.

Aries rules the first house or the self. We will all be driven to accomplish our personal goals. Neptune in Aries will put impulsiveness in the sign of service and spirituality but even with Neptune’s veil we will see clearer actions. Wars are possible with Neptune in this sign as Aries is ruled by Mars. We must be careful not to develop a war like and aggressive mentality as Neptune rules the collective mindset.

Saturn enters Aries February 14-April 12, 2028

Aries rules the 1st house of the zodiac; Pisces rules the 12th house or last house of the zodiac so the 2 signs couldn’t be any more different and we are entering into new territory with Saturn in Aries. Individually and collectively we will be focused on new approaches to life and new ways of doing things. When Saturn finally leaves Aries in2028 the world will have changed considerably.

Aries can be connected with courage and responsibility, leadership and major efforts to move forward but it also rules aggression and anger, hence Mars’ nickname, ‘the God of war.’

Aries will bring about many new beginnings being the first sign of the zodiac.  We will see advances but will need to watch out for impatience, fear of failure, authority issues, burnout and reacting in anger. Saturn in Aries is considered at its fall which means it is at its weakest state and is not comfortable with the energy so things don’t always go smoothly.

Saturn last transited Aries from 1996-99. Before this March 3, 1967, to Apr 29, 1969 and Apr 25, 1937 to Mar 20, 1940.

Saturn conjuncts Neptune in Aries

When Saturn enters Aries it will conjunct Neptune in Aries at 0 degrees and this is called the ‘world point.’ The 0 degree is a significant degree along with the 29th because it represents the energy of a new start and a new cycle.

0 degrees indicates a cosmic touchstone for global events, signifying collective change and heightened awareness. We can be linked through universal themes and it connects us to points of destiny as well as change.

Saturn-Neptune conjunctions occur about every 35-26 years and mark points of collective and global transformation just like they did in the 1980’s when the Berlin wall fell.

Uranus enters Gemini April 26, 2026-August 3rd, 2032

Uranus has been in Taurus since May of 2018. Like the other outer planets we will had a preview last year of what to expect when the planet of the unexpected changed signs July 7-November 8th, 2024.

Uranus rules technology, freedom, upheaval, explosions, aircraft, and electricity and future advancements to name a few. While in Gemini it will rule all forms of communication, travel and commerce so we can expect changes in these areas.

While Taurus rules the 2nd house of money with Venus as its ruling planet, Gemini rules the 3rd house of communication, speech and thinking, and its planetary ruler is Mercury the planet of communication. Uranus has not been comfortable in the sign of Taurus and is considered at its fall here which means the energy is not smooth, and the benefits Uranus are not so strong. Uranus is comfortable in Gemini and neither at its fall or exaltation so the energy of the planet will operate in an easier manner than it did in Taurus.  Think about the number of disruptions and crises we have experienced collectively since 2018.

The sign Gemini is about reason, and is always taking in new information. Certainly a large part of this transit will concern AI and the transitions this will cause and create. There is certainly a positive side to this but there will also be a down side. We will face concerns over control, legislation and nefarious players in the world when it comes to AI.

There is no doubt this will bring social upheaval and renewal and revolution in trade, science, research and the way we communicate. It will affect the intellect and make us more independent thinkers and create different types of connections between people globally.

Uranus returns to Gemini every 84 years and was in Gemini during the following periods;

-1939-1945

-1861-1865

-1775-1783

Some astrologers associate Uranus/Gemini with the US entering a period of war, and you can see from the last and only 3 periods since the birth of the US this has been the case.  The conflict this transit will bring will be a conflict of ideas as shown by the symbol that represents Gemini; the twins or duality. We can see this playing out through politics globally at this time.

The upside to Uranus entering Gemini this time is the fact that it will sextile Saturn, trine Pluto and sextile Neptune. This is not a combination we have seen before and can only be beneficial and bring good results in the world. These transits are not about war but rather new ideas, inventions and new ways of approaching things on a global level. While some of these transits have occurred I cannot find a time they have all occurred at once. During this period we will have a preponderance of fire and air energy. Fire signs like forward movement and action and air signs like intellect and reason.

The US will experience its ‘Uranus return’ which means that Uranus returns to its place in the US natal chart just like we have experienced a Pluto return over the past few years. Uranus in the US chart is at 6 degrees but in the strictest sense of the world the return begins as soon as Uranus enters Gemini in a wide orb. The transit will be exact June 2027 and December 2027-March of 2028. The aspect does not have to be exact for events to occur and Uranus reaches 5 degrees in August so this is certainly considered to be in its return period.

The US Uranus return falls in the US chart 6th house which rules national health, epidemics, public welfare, the military, labor and workers so we will see unexpected events in these areas.

While past Uranus cycles included war there is no rule that says there has to be war, but Uranus is associated with explosive and unexpected events.

Uranus is the last planet to change signs this year. In 2026 Pluto experiences its first full year in the sign, Neptune and Saturn enter Aries and Uranus enters Gemini. We are entering into a completely new and unknown period.

The fog will lift and better things will come

Saturn-Neptune transits are not easily globally or personally.  You have heard the term ‘as above, so below.’ This means the universe and the individual are interconnected so when the planets change so do our lives.

We begin the year with the Saturn-Neptune conjunctions. By the time we get to April these energies will be on the wane. By mid-year there is a 9 degree orb between these planets so we will be in a much better position to see and act with more decisiveness and clarity.

In many respects we begin the year without a lot of clarity. Some have expressed to me they feel they are walking uphill through a foot of mud and I certainly get the point. As these planets separate the negative feelings this transit brings will start to fade. Not that the world will be perfect but there will be more clarity.

The powerful outer planets will bring positive change

All of the outer planets;  Uranus, Pluto, Neptune and even Saturn are making trines and sextiles to each other and I don’t know a time in history when this has occurred. One well known astrologer called this a ‘global re-set.’

In July Uranus sextiles Neptune and trines Pluto. Neptune sextiles Uranus and Pluto and Pluto trines Uranus and sextiles Neptune.

These are all positive and beneficial aspects that will have a global affect.

Uranus rules technology, aircraft (spacecraft) and electricity to name a few and we are bound to see major advancements in some of these areas. Neptune ruled by Jupiter can be associated with medicine and Pluto rules the collective. Neptune also rules creativity and spirituality and since we have never seen this before it’s hard to say what good will come of this and the positive change that will occur but it will.

Mercury retrogrades this year:

February 26-March 20th  in Pisces

June 29-July 23 in Cancer

October 24-November 12th in Scorpio

Most people are familiar with retrograde Mercury. Things can go haywire, machinery breaks, meetings are cancelled and confusion often abounds and we don’t always think clearly.  These periods are about reflecting and re-doing things that we haven’t or need to complete not start new projects. Often we get new information we need to proceed forward. This transit is strongly associated with the past and those from the past. Try and not plan important meetings and events during these dates if possible.

Venus retrogrades

Venus turns retrograde October 3rd at 8 degrees of Scorpio. On October 25th it retrogrades back into Libra and turns direct in this sign November 14th at 22 degrees.

Venus retrogrades about every 18 months. Love can slow down, and people can change their minds, or change their partners in a retrograde cycle of Venus. Sometimes it can also affect money since it rules both.

As Venus retrogrades we have an opportunity to rethink and re-access our relationships with others and those closest to us. Love energy may be harder to come by during this period, but we may compensate for this by loving ourselves more. Feelings and intellect may become more defined giving clearer ideas concerning what we really need.

If you begin a new relationship on a retrograde Venus it is said the love energy is never fully expressed. Venus retrograde is sometimes associated with those we have known in the past. At times we can reconnect, or take many trips down memory lane.

This is not the time to get engaged, married or has plastic surgery.

Venus retrogrades repeat by sign every 8 years

It can be interesting to look back at these periods and remember what its affect it had in your personal life.  Venus retrograded in Scorpio October 5, 2018-November 18th and turned direct in Libra then as well

Venus retrograde and its karmic affect

Venus retrograde is a karmic period and at times our love lives can take dramatic shifts one way or another.  The karma of relationships sometimes play out and relationships can end, or come back together. If a relationship comes back together it was meant to, and if one ends at this time, it is granting you the freedom to find someone more appropriate.

The North and south Nodes change signs

The North and South Nodes change signs July 26th moving from Pisces/Virgo into Aquarius (north node) Leo (South node)

The nodes are not planets but points in the chart that are tied to our collective destiny and show us where we are going as a whole. The North Node shows where we are going; the South Node is what holds us back.

The North node in Aquarius points towards collective consciousness, innovation, technology, social progress, and authentic individuality that encourages balancing personal identity with community, fostering unique paths through authenticity rather than self-centeredness, and bringing significant shifts.

The South Node in Leo represents ego, the need for attention, and personal drama that serves ourselves. This is what we need to avoid or overcome.

The nodes are especially important during eclipses and often work through them. The north and south nodes operate on an 18 month cycle.

Jupiter transits through Cancer and Leo

Jupiter is the planet of gain and expansion, abundance and faith as well as wisdom. It is also one of 2 financial planets; the other is Venus. . Wherever Jupiter goes we see our luck and it changes signs every year. Jupiter is currently in Cancer and will remain here until July 1st when it moves into Leo where it will remain for the rest of the year.

Cancer rules home and family and is associated with our emotions. This can be a beautiful and nurturing placement for Jupiter and especially for water signs and in particular those born under the sign of Cancer.

When it moves into Leo this will work well for Fire and Air signs but in particular Leo. When Jupiter enters Leo we may all want to be heard and seen a little more and we may dress a little more dramatically or act more in this way. Leo encourages us to be our authentic selves and find those things that make us truly happy. It is associated with royalty and the entertainment business in particular. We must however guard against arrogance, and being self serving.

Jupiter will make the following aspects in 2026:

Jupiter is retrograde until March 10th when it will turn direct at 15 degrees of Cancer. If this makes a positive aspect in your chart you can expect to see some type of gain. At this point things connected to Jupiter can pick such as advancement and money in particular since Jupiter is the financial planet.

July 19-23 Jupiter in Leo opposes Pluto. This aspect is associated with terrorism and can be associated with financial issues and arrogance. We will feel the effects of this transit before and after these dates.

Jupiter 19-23 Jupiter sextiles Uranus and trines Neptune. This is great for technology and this can be associated with material gain. We have a Jupiter-Uranus transit in 1969 when humanity landed on the moon. Jupiter-Neptune is associated with creativity, spirituality and potentially medicine. This can be an exuberant transit for some.

August 29-September 2nd Jupiter trines Saturn. This is typically associated with progress, the past and certain things may come together.

December 13-April 13, 2027 Jupiter turns retrograde at 27 degrees of Leo. When Jupiter retrogrades its beneficial rays aren’t as powerful. It is a period of looking within ourselves more than externally.

The eclipses

Eclipses are powerful times and can show us our themes throughout the year. Many of life’s biggest events; positive or negative happen during eclipses. The energy of an eclipse lasts at least 30 days, often longer.

February 17th, a solar eclipse at 29 degrees of Aquarius-difficult. This eclipse squares Uranus making our lives and the world unpredictable. Uranus can be associated with freedom, sometimes at any cost. We will see unexpected if not explosive events in the world.

March 3rd, a lunar eclipse at 17 degrees of Virgo-mixed. The moon opposes Mercury which can result in a great deal of communication or arguments. It does however sextile Jupiter, the most positive of planets so there can be gain and planetary help.

August 12th, a solar eclipse at 20 degrees of Leo.-positive. This eclipse sextiles Uranus the planet of the unexpected. New approaches to old problems and new ways of looking at things.

August 28th, a lunar eclipse at 4 degrees of Pisces-use caution. This eclipse opposes Mercury and squares Uranus the planet of the unexpected. Mercury also squares Uranus which can bring unexpected news and events.

**What happens personally during these eclipses depends of what the eclipse aspects in your personal chart.

Conclusion: This is a year like no other; literally!  When Saturn and Aries enter Neptune the world will change and we aren’t going back. Saturn-Neptune transits are world altering. Saturn rules our structures and Neptune dissolves them

By late March we are moving out of the Saturn/Neptune conjunctions and the fog will begin to lift. With 2 planets in Aries we will be looking at and doing things globally and collectively that are new on many levels. We will have more self motivation as well as courage.

Uranus in Gemini is something we haven’t seen in 84 years! Since Gemini is ruled by Mercury expect to become more inquisitive and we will all be learning new things.

The outer planets will play nice with each other this year with trines and sextiles. This is something we have never seen before and astrologers have been anticipating this for years now. Since the outer planets rule the collective certain things will evolve and we will begin to look at and deal with matters in new and different ways that ultimately can only benefit society.
