April astrology; Uranus enters Gemini

We will experience another significant change this month when Uranus enters Gemini where it will remain until 2033. The Sun will leave Aries for Gemini, Mercury will leave Pisces for Aries and Venus will also leave Pisces for Aries. Mars finishes up its long transit through Pisces and enters Aries and we will have a 5 planet Aries stellium so wherever Aries falls in your chart is where you will be focused. The full moon falls in Libra and the new moon in Aries.

Last month, I wrote that late March into April the US would be in a crisis. We are now is an undeclared war in Iran, and the subsequent increased costs of gas, food and other items as well as the inability of US oil tankers to travel through the Strait of Hormuz is creating significant problems for the US as well as the entire world. At this point it looks like there is a very significant chance of the US sending in ground troops. Starting a war on a retrograde Mercury is far from an ideal action to take.

There will be some dates in April that look like significant turning points in terms of the war so let’s look at the details for this month.

Uranus enters Gemini

Uranus has been in Taurus since May of 2018. Like the other outer planets we will had a preview last year of what to expect when the planet of the unexpected changed signs July 7-November 8th, 2025 and gave us our first glance at Uranus in this sign.

Uranus rules technology, freedom, upheaval, explosions, aircraft, and electricity and future advancements to name a few. While in Gemini it will rule all forms of communication, travel and commerce so we can expect changes in these areas.

While Taurus rules the 2nd house of money with Venus as its ruling planet, Gemini rules the 3rd house of communication, speech and thinking, and its planetary ruler is Mercury the planet of communication. Uranus has not been comfortable in the sign of Taurus and is considered at its fall here which means the energy is not smooth, and the benefits Uranus are not so strong. Uranus is comfortable in Gemini and neither at its fall or exaltation so the energy of the planet will operate in an easier manner than it did in Taurus.  Think about the number of disruptions and crises we have experienced collectively since 2018.

The sign Gemini is about reason, and is always taking in new information. Certainly a large part of this transit will concern AI and the transitions this will cause and create. There is certainly a positive side to this but there will also be a down side. We will face concerns over control, legislation and nefarious players in the world when it comes to AI.

There is no doubt this will bring social upheaval and renewal and revolution in trade, science, research and the way we communicate. It will affect the intellect and make us more independent thinkers and create different types of connections between people globally.

Uranus returns to Gemini every 84 years and was in Gemini during the following periods;

-1939-1945

-1861-1865

-1775-1783

Some astrologers associate Uranus/Gemini with the US entering a period of war, and you can see from the last and only 3 periods since the birth of the US this has been the case.  The conflict this transit will bring will be a conflict of ideas as shown by the symbol that represents Gemini; the twins or duality. We can see this playing out through politics globally at this time and the wars around the globe.

The upside to Uranus entering Gemini this time is the fact that it will sextile Saturn, trine Pluto and sextile Neptune. This is not a combination we have seen before and can only be beneficial and bring good results in the world. These transits are not about war but rather new ideas, inventions and new ways of approaching things on a global level. While some of these transits have occurred I cannot find a time they have all occurred at once. During this period we will have a preponderance of fire and air energy. Fire signs like forward movement and action and air signs like intellect and reason.

The US will experience its ‘Uranus return’ which means that Uranus returns to its place in the US natal chart just like we have experienced a Pluto return over the past few years. Uranus in the US chart is at 6 degrees but in the strictest sense of the world the return begins as soon as Uranus enters Gemini in a wide orb. The transit will be exact June 2027 and December 2027-March of 2028. The aspect does not have to be exact for events to occur and Uranus reaches 5 degrees in August so this is certainly considered to be in its return period.

The US Uranus return falls in the US chart 6th house which rules national health, epidemics, public welfare, the military, labor and workers so we will see unexpected events in these areas.

While past Uranus cycles included war there is no rule that says there has to be war, but Uranus is associated with explosive and unexpected events.

Uranus is the last planet to change signs this year. In 2026 Pluto experiences its first full year in the sign, Neptune and Saturn enter Aries and Uranus enters Gemini. We are entering into a completely new and unknown period.

A full moon in Libra

The full moon falls on April 1st this month at 12 degrees of Libra. The moon opposes Saturn and Neptune and Saturn can represent a reality check.

There is no doubt this full moon is about partners of all type as well as other partnerships such as global allies. Libra also rules the 7th house of laws, courts and open enemies.

This full moon may bring some relationship endings because on April 3rd, Venus squares Pluto. The energy however will be felt as soon as Venus enters Taurus March 30th. This transit can represent relationship issues, control, obsessiveness or possessiveness or issues connected to sex or money. At worst, this can represent a breakup or significant argument especially if you are in a rocky relationship and it has the potential to end something if it has outlived its purpose.

Of course this aspect will play out in the world as well in terms of control, corruption, sex and money. It could also relate to a significant events on in the undeclared war the US is currently in with Iran based on the US chart. This energy will be very powerful over the next week.

April 9th Mars enters Aries until May 18th

Mars is at home in Aries which means it operates well and is extremely powerful.  Aries rules the first house of self, so we will be interested in furthering our own interests most of all during this 6 week cycle of Mars. We will evaluate what we want and go after it whether it is a job, an idea, or even a romantic partner.

Mars once again reaches the ‘world point’ or 0 degrees of Aries and starts its two year trip through the zodiac once again. The ‘world point’ is associated with events on the world stage than can affect us all and give us an extra dose of get-up-and-go. 0 degrees of Aries also represents the astrological New Year. 0 degrees of Aries represents the very start of the zodiac.

Mars in Aries likes to take control of things and can increase our personal drive and ambition. Expect this to be a spontaneous, forward looking and action oriented period. Winning may become more important and Aries can be quite competitive. We will pursue things in a more straight forward manner, which is the opposite of Mars in Pisces that often approaches things from a sideways and intuitive perspective. Aries is typically confident, optimistic and does not let grass grow under their feet.

The downside of Aries is impatience, arrogance and self-centeredness. While we pursue our goals in a very direct manner, we can express anger in the same manner which can turn many more sensitive people off or create hard feelings.

Aries is considered a pioneering sign not afraid of trying out new ideas and concepts and approaches life head on. Independence, confidence and courage are all Aries qualities that we can embrace during this period. As Aries rules the first house of the zodiac this can be a time for new beginnings, new experiences and new and greater confidence in our own abilities to inspire others and lead.

Mars and Mercury will make significant transits this month that not only will affect us personally, but events around the globe. Let’s take a look:

Significant transits of Mars

When Mars enters Aries this time it makes several significant aspects.

April 12th, Mars conjuncts Neptune. This aspect can be foggy and confusing and can also deal with misinformation and lies. This is not a day to take risks with money or come to solid decisions about anything of significance.

Of course this aspect will apply to world events and no doubt the wars and hot spots around the globe. Neptune rules both the ocean and oil so we can expect to see significant events play out.

The next significant Mars transit is Mars conjunct Saturn and this falls on the 19th. Mars/Saturn transits cause frustration and blockages and best to watch out for anger or dealing with contentious issues.

No doubt, this is also another significant point in the war with Iran. The energy of this transit however will be felt before and after the aspect is exact.

Mercury enters Aries on the 14th and will aspect the same two planets as Mars;

April 16th, Mercury conjuncts Neptune. This is a foggy and confusing transit and can affect our thinking and communication. Make no important decisions. Of course since Neptune rules oil we may see events connected to oil and the ocean.

April 20th, Mercury conjuncts Saturn and Mars. Mercury/Saturn can be tired, negative and draining and its conjunct to Mars can represent anger and violence. This will be a significant day in the world.

April 19th/20th and perhaps the surrounding days like like war increases significantly. These can be violent transits.

April 14th Mercury enters Aries until May 3rd

Mercury’s entrance into Aries can bring about much needed clarity, especially after its transit through foggy Pisces over the past few weeks which was much more lethargic. While Mercury is in this sign we can come across as more assertive and confident. We typically say what we mean, and mean what we say, and others will do the same as well.

Aries is ruled by Mars the planet of action and aggression. Thinking will pick up speed and shift toward a style of getting straight to the point, sometimes to the point of even seeming abrupt or rude to others, so it is important to watch our words and tone.

For the Fire signs this will seem very natural and comfortable, and for others (especially Water signs) this type of communication may seem too harsh or outside their comfort zone.

Conveying information and ideas will be faster, sharper and without beating around the bush but we must watch out for overly assertive communication with others or getting carried away with ideas that have not been thoroughly vetted as our mind is moving so fast.

At its best Mercury in Aries can provide us with a mental state that is optimistic, encouraging, on point and self-confident. At its worst Mercury in Aries can come across as thoughtless, aggressive, impatient and without respect as we can sometimes forget to approach conversations in a thoughtful manner.

The New Moon in Aries

The New Moon falls this month on April 17th at 27 degrees of Aries. Aries is the sign ruled by Mars the planet we call the God of War. Look for people to be more aggressive and easily angered but on the other hand we need to be aware that Aries concerns action and sometimes bravery which means some of us may step outside of the box and take chances that could lead to positive results.

In the US birth chart this moon will square Mercury and Pluto. Mercury lies in the 8th house which rules taxpayer money and death. It squares Pluto in the 2nd house of the US chart which also rules money, power and control and this looks like this is a very volatile moon in the United States. Mercury is still conjunct Neptune so information may be confusing or untrue.

April 19th the Sun enters Taurus until May 21st

The Sun in Taurus is a time to get steady on our feet, grounded, and turn our attention to the more material concerns of life. Taurus is typically a relaxed, sociable period as Venus is the ruler of the sign. Venus rules love, money and our values and this is where our attention will be focused over the next month.

With Venus as the star of the show, we tend to become more social, relaxed and interested in the more material joys and concerns of life such as beautiful objects and surroundings, clothes and perhaps a new hair style and what might be considered the finer things in life. This includes all things pleasant to our senses; sensuality, art, beauty and often rich foods. Now is the time to treat ourselves to things like spas, flowers even binge watching our favorite shows and just kicking back for a while. Taurus is the time to cultivate and develop a sense of deep security and personal comfort.

We are often drawn to the outdoors during the Taurus season and can enjoy hikes or long walks as Taurus is connected with the Earth which can be a grounding and pleasant experience.

Taurus may take a while to make up its mind but once that happens it can be one of the most steadfast and loyal of all signs. This is the time to think things through carefully and make no rush to judgment. Since Taurus does rule the 2nd house of money in astrology many will be focused on financial concerns at this time. Now is the time to think through investments or anything that relates to your financial life and make changes where necessary.

The downside of Taurus can be a stubborn unwillingness to make changes or stay stuck on something that is not working. Taurus is a fixed sign that moves slowly and does not make fast decisions. Keep an open mind and chill out this month. If you do this, there is no reason you should not enjoy and prosper from the richness, joy and beauty of the Taurus season.

April 23rd Venus enters Gemini until May 19th

Venus will find herself in Mercury’s sign until May 19th and communication and your social life will be prioritized at this time. Don’t be surprised if you don’t find yourself contemplating writing that novel you have always dreamed of, as Mercury rules all communication and the written word. Of course, the drive to communicate may take many different forms and you don’t have to write a novel to make the most of this placement.

Venus in Gemini is concerned with conversation, ideas, truths, and she does like to be bored in this sign. Venus in Gemini can be as sensual as any other sign, but you must bring conversation, adventure and fun to the picture to make this work. Manners count as does intelligence and ideas, most of all.

Venus in Gemini is light and airy, and there is no greater turn off for those with Venus in this sign than people who are emotionally heavy and limiting, or jealous and possessive so check these feelings at the front door if you want this energy of this sign to work well for you.

Gemini is associated with the third house of the zodiac which rules communications, sales, writing ability, media, advertising, publicity, short journeys, neighbors, and siblings. The third house is also associated with the active search for knowledge, mental energy and telepathy.

Venus in Gemini is drawn to charismatic people who have interesting things to say and do. Gemini likes someone who can suggest interesting, if not adventuresome dates and places to go, and always has their own thoughts about what is going on.

Typically Venus-Gemini looks for friends first, and isn’t going to jump into an exclusive relationship overnight. Gemini is a mutable sign, so it's subject to changeability at the drop of a hat.

Venus in Gemini has a bad rap astrologically for being fickle. As Gemini is a changeable sign, she (or he) can change her mind if things aren’t working. The dark side of Venus in Gemini has the potential to leave lovers in the lurch suddenly, but is there any Venus that could be exempt from this if there is a good reason? Gemini can be more unpredictable than some, especially if things become too intense or dull. This could of course leave some people feeling duped, which again contributes to Venus's placement here being considered fickle. Venus in Gemini is actually looking for their ideal partner they can communicate and have fun with. Should they be lucky enough to find this, there is little chance they will leave.

April 25th, the Sun squares Pluto. Pluto is about power, control and corruption. Some may thrive on power today or be too pushy. Things can break down including relationships with others so use care. This is another significant transit in the world as well.
