This month the Sun transits through
Taurus and enters Gemini. Mercury transits through Aries, Taurus and enters
Gemini. Mars completes its cycle through Aries and enters Taurus. Uranus spends
its first full month of its 7 year cycle in Gemini and Pluto retrogrades. We
have a full moon in Scorpio followed by a New Moon in Taurus and then a rare 2nd
full moon in Sagittarius. Now the details.
Uranus entered Gemini April 25th
and will remain in this sign until May of 2033.
Uranus is the planet that rules
technology, freedom, upheaval, explosions, aircraft, and electricity and future
advancements to name a few. While in Gemini, Uranus it will rule all forms of
communication, travel and commerce so we can expect major changes in these
areas.
Gemini rules the 3rd house
of communication, speech and thinking, and its planetary ruler is Mercury the
planet of communication. Uranus is comfortable in Gemini and neither at its
fall or exaltation so the energy of the planet will operate in an easier manner
than it did in Taurus.
The sign Gemini is about reason, and
is always taking in new information. Certainly a large part of this transit
will concern AI and the transitions this will cause and create. There is
certainly a positive side to this but there will also be a down side. We will
face concerns over control, legislation and nefarious players in the world when
it comes to AI.
There is no doubt this will bring
social upheaval and renewal and revolution in trade, science, research and the
way we communicate. It will affect the intellect and make us more independent
thinkers and create different types of connections between people globally.
Uranus returns to Gemini every 84
years and was in Gemini during the following periods;
-1939-1945
-1859-1871
-1775-1783
Some astrologers associate
Uranus/Gemini with the US entering a period of war, and you can see from the
last and only 3 periods since the birth of the US this has been the case. The conflict this transit will bring will be
a conflict of ideas as shown
by the symbol that represents Gemini; the twins or duality.
The upside to Uranus entering Gemini
this time is the fact that it will
sextile Saturn, trine Pluto and sextile Neptune. This is not a combination
we have seen before and can only be beneficial and bring good results in the
world. These transits are not about war but rather new ideas, inventions and
new ways of approaching things on a global level. While some of these transits
have occurred I cannot find a time they have all occurred at once like they are
now. While this occurs we will have a preponderance of fire and air energy.
Fire signs like forward movement and action and air signs like intellect and
reason.
Let’s look at the history of Uranus in
Gemini as it has pertained to the US and the world.
-1775-1783 the conflict was between
the US and England. The colonies wanted the freedom to be self governing and
England wanted them to remain under control of the King.
-1861 marked the start of the Civil
war and the conflict of ideas concerned slavery.
-In 1939 Hitler began his invasion of
Poland and attempt at European domination.
I am not predicting another war; this
is simply how Uranus in Gemini has played out in the past.
The US will experience its ‘Uranus
return’ which means that Uranus returns to its place in the US natal chart just
like we have experienced a Pluto return over the past few years. This alone
will bring about major changes in the way we work, technology and the military.
Uranus is in the US chart is at 6
degrees but in the strictest sense of the word the return begins as soon as
Uranus enters Gemini in a wide orb. The transit will be exact June 2027 and
December 2027-March of 2028. The aspect does not have to be exact for events to
occur.
-Uranus will conjunct Mars and square
Neptune eventually in the US chart. This will be a dangerous period 2031-32.
Since Gemini rules communication this
will be one of the most significant advancements we will experience as
indicated in previous periods of history. For example:
1775-1783 newspapers expanded their
coverage along with the postal service with the demand for faster
communication.
1859-1871-The Pony Express was founded
followed by the telegraph network as a demand for faster communication
increased.
1939-45 Radar technologies improved
for the military along with multi conductor cables. Transistor radios became
more widespread.
Uranus will affect us personally
How Uranus in Gemini affect you
personally depends on where it is in your own chart. Those who will be affected
most will be Gemini (Uranus conjunct Sun/ascendant), Sagittarius (Uranus
opposes Sun), Pisces and Virgo (Uranus squares Sun or ascendant) and these are
all hard aspects.
Of course if you have planets in these
signs in your chart you will also be affected.
In hard aspect Uranus tends to disrupt
and bring about unexpected events that can involve change of all sorts,
separations, losses and disruptions while in easy aspect it coincides with
unexpected opportunities or gain that may seem to come out of nowhere.
May 1st full moon in Scorpio
This full moon falls at 11 degrees of
Scorpio, ruled by Mars and Pluto. Scorpio is the natural ruler of the 8th
house of sex, secrets, transformation and other people’s money. Mars rules men,
aggression and war and Pluto rules power and control. Typically, a full moon in
Scorpio can bring up situations involving these issues although this does not
guarantee all is negative.
In this case, the full moon squares
Pluto which can bring up obsessions, transformation and change.
Venus’s sextile to Saturn can lend
some stability and positivity and give us some planetary help but it is
important to be aware of the energies. We can expect to continue to see many
issues come to light and play out in the world at this time.
The Aries stellium is breaking up
We have experienced an anomaly
recently with multiple planets in Aries; 7 at the time of the last new moon
including Chiron. This has been a great deal of Mars driven energy and the
results have clearly played out in the world with the war in Iran and other
events. This can be a lot of Fire energy to handle and it isn’t often we have
this many planets in one sign. Wherever these planets fell in your personal
chart is where your focus has been.
This month the Sun is in Taurus and
will be joined by Mars and Mercury. This should start to calm things down to
some degree anyway. Wherever Taurus is in your chart expect to be focused. The
energy however will not be as overwhelming as Aries.
Pluto retrogrades
May 6th, Pluto turns retrograde at 5 degrees of
Aquarius may 5th. Many issues relating to joint monies and investments,
partnerships and sex will begin to be internalized during this period allowing
us to look at things from a different viewpoint. Pluto is about making deep
change that goes beneath the surface. One way of looking at this is destruction of
that which is no longer working, which will now become obvious. Pluto wants to
uncover things and bring them from the darkness or hidden realm and into the
light.
Certain
issues involving power or power structures may appear to lose steam during this
time, but they are not really going away, they are just going under the
surface, where activity is still occurring that can be significant when Pluto
turns direct again. In a sense we are backing up, to reconsider ideas and
information.
When
Pluto turns direct again long term issues of this type (power issues) will
surface again both in our personal lives and the world. But, as Pluto
retrogrades we have the opportunity to look at things from a different
perspective and effect a transformative change.
Pluto
won’t turn direct again until October 16th.
Mercury transits through 3 signs
As
the month begins Mercury is finishing up its transit through Aries. May 3-17
Mercury enters Taurus. This is an earth sign so we take out time to make
important decisions and think tem out more thoroughly. Taurus is much more laid
back than Aries, but thinking and communication can have a stubborn streak.
Mercury
enters Gemini on the 17th, and energies change again in terms of
thinking and communication. Mercury is
at home in Gemini, and we will all become a little more inquisitive and
interested in taking in information. Gemini loves communication so expect this
to pick up along with many new ideas.
May 18th; Mars enters
Taurus and Venus enters Cancer
Today
brings another significant change as the two planets that rule our love lives
change signs.
Mars
leaves Aries for the next 2 years and begins its transit through Taurus which
will last until June 28th.
Taurus is an Earth sign ruled by the
planet Venus, so our energies and action will change considerably. Energies
will slow down as Taurus is much more laid back, and while Mars is in Taurus we
will think through our actions and much more than we did with Mars in Aries.
Mars is considered to be in its
detriment in Taurus which means it operates in a weaker manner, or is prone to
misbehave at times. Mars is not as comfortable in this sign as it was in Aries,
where it was considered to be ‘at home.’ Mars in Taurus will be in Venus’s
sign, so our actions will be driven more by financial decisions, beauty, values
and we may all be a little more focused on pleasures and love.
Remember the childhood story of the
hare and the tortoise? Well, Taurus is the tortoise that eventually reaches its
destination through persistence and patience.
Change comes slowly for Taurus as it
is a fixed sign. Holding on to anger can be a problem with Mars /Taurus and
many will try and keep the peace, holding onto things until they reach a
boiling point and then they explode.
Venus also enters Cancer today placing
Mars and Venus in compatible signs. Venus will remain here until June 13th.
We will all be a bit more emotional with Venus in
this sign and may feel deeper empathy and compassion for those around us and
the world in general. As Cancer is such a sensitive sign we may have to be
careful about taking slights to heart, and they may be harder to let go of as
Cancer has a long and clear memory.
Venus-Cancer is not interested in casual flings and will have
a greater desire for long term relationships and all of the security that
typically comes with this type of relationship. Cancer is about home, family,
relationships and security, both financial and otherwise.
May 18th-19th Venus and Mars enter into
a sextile blending the two energies harmoniously and these should be pleasant
and more positive days.
The Sun enters Gemini
May 20th the Sun enters Gemini where it will remain until
June 21st culminating in the summer solstice when the Sun enters
Cancer.
Gemini is the mutable sign of spring
when the weather begins to shift toward summer. Like the weather, we too are
under the influence of a mutable sign which means we are more changeable at
this time than others. We may change our minds, and even direction during the
next four weeks sometimes more than once.
Gemini is an intellectual Air sign
ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, travel, young people and pets.
The Gemini season will inspire social activity, conversation, new ideas and a
focus of our energies outwardly and into the world.
Air signs are typically full of ideas
and plans and while the Sun is in Gemini our energies will be directed much
more toward others. Air signs are full of mental energy that can sometimes seem
to move at the speed of light, activities and communication pick up and you may
feel that ideas come so rapidly you can hardly remember everything.
New Moon May 16th
May’s new moon falls on May 16th
in the sign of Taurus. This moon sextiles Jupiter which is a positive and
hopeful aspect. Taurus rules the house of money, possessions and self esteem.
For most, this should be pleasant unless it affects something in an adverse way
in your personal chart.
A second full moon in May
We have an unusual 2nd full
moon this month on May 31st in the sign of Sagittarius, the ruler of
the 9th house which rules travel, education and our world view. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, the planet
of gain and expansion. This is a perfect moon for ending the month because
Sagittarius is generally associated with adventure, travel and often helps us
when we are stuck look at things from a new and different angle.
There are a number of other
significant aspects this month:
May 4th, Mars squares Jupiter-While this is not
innately negative at all we can expect certain things to become blown out of
proportion especially in the world.
May 5th, Mercury squares Pluto-This can have to do
with suspicion, mistrust and obsessive thinking. Certain things may be revealed
at this time. Pluto rules bullies and those who force their will on others.
May 17th, Mercury conjuncts Uranus-You may feel
restless and unable to focus. This can also have to do with unexpected
communication and changes of plans.
May 22nd, the Sun conjuncts Uranus-This is prone
toward sudden and unexpected events in our lives and the world.
May 25th, Mars squares Pluto-This transit and the days
surrounding it will be likely the most volatile of the month. Personally we can
expect aggravation, arguments and obsessive thinking or working to accomplish
or uncover something. This aspect will play out on the world stage and have an
affect the days before and after.
May 28th, Venus squares Saturn-This can be negative
for love, relationships and money. Not the day for successful social
activities.
Epilogue
The world is in a period like we have
never seen. The powerful Saturn-Neptune conjunction is breaking up but the
consequences will continue to play out for months of not years to come; this
aspect concerns geopolitical changes and upheaval in the world.
In the US chart Neptune is square
Venus and Jupiter which affects finances in the US mainly in terms of gas, food
and inflation. It also affects our relationships with US enemies.
It appears to me the best bet for
ending the Iran war is mid May into June. If this doesn’t occur it could
go on for some time.
Eventually, we will gain more stability collectively but 2026 is a challenging year. That said, there are always those who are successful even in the worst of time. Focus on yourself, building your personal life in the direction you want and when the noise becomes too intense; turn it off for a while and focus on being grounded which should be easier to do this month.
