July astrology! Jupiter squares Saturn!

Happy 4th of July! This month Saturn begins its annual 4 month retrograde and meets up with Jupiter.  The Sun transits through Cancer and enters Leo. Mercury leaves Cancer and transits through Leo and then enters Virgo. Venus completes its transit through Cancer and enters the great summer sign of Leo. Mars finishes up in Taurus and enters Gemini. Saturn, Neptune and Pluto all retrograde. We experience a New Moon in Cancer and a Full Moon in Capricorn!

This month look for events to heat up in the US and around the world with the powerful Mars/Uranus transit that occurs July 15th. This energy will be present at least 5 days before and after.

Jupiter squares Saturn

Saturn turned retrograde on June 29th at 19 degrees of Pisces and turns direct again on November 15th. This year is a little different because Saturn retrogrades and begins a square to Jupiter in Gemini.

Retrograde Saturn is a time to back up and re-access what is going on in our lives. We can make a great deal of progress during this time although it may not seem so at first glance.

As Saturn deals with our structures we may be concerned with basic security issues while Saturn is retrograde both individually and collectively.

Saturn is our personal teacher that rules our personal reality, structure, maturity and responsibility. During its retrograde this is a good time to shore up areas of your life that need new structure. It could be in the area of finances, work or even relationships.

Whatever area Saturn is transiting in your personal chart may need extra work as Saturn retrogrades through it. The lessons you learn at this time may be difficult and it can be a time of greater anxiety, fear or even sadness. If this is the case Saturn’s retrograde will be a time to confront these issues and focus on a workable solution.

That said, Saturn square to Jupiter makes things a little different. While Saturn rules our structures and limitations, Jupiter rules our expansion, luck and gain. The two planets don’t mix well and represent a clash.

Saturn-Jupiter transits begin anew every 20 years. The cycle we are now in began in December of 2020 and we are now experiencing the next phase of the cycle which is the square.

We can expect this to slow things down, bring about delays and even influence finances. Propaganda will likely be at an all time high, the political fights will intensify and we can expect to see many significant events around the world.

The late famed astrologer Andre Barbault connects this cycle with Europe and significant changes there. In terms of the square that occurred during the last cycle (March 1984-January 1985) he wrote about the events; “The Transatlantic crisis. In addition to disputes over the GATT negotiations there was deterioration in the relationship between Europe and America; the shadow of protectionism, the gas pipeline affair and the penalizing of European countries.”

If this aspect connects to something in your chart you can expect it to play a major role, depending on what it is aspecting and where in your chart it falls.

I do not consider this a positive transit but it may reign in anything in excess and in some cases deals may come together or something you are working on could conclude.

The transit will peak the week of August 18th, but the energy is already with us now and will continue for some time after the peak.

It is interesting to note that the Democratic National convention will be held the week the transit reaches its peak.

July 2nd Neptune retrogrades

The planet of illusion, delusion and confusion turns retrograde July 2nd and direct again December 7th.

Neptune is typically retrograde about half of the time and this is part of the natural cycle.

Neptune’s retrograde will bring about more acute sensitivity on an inner level and we may be able to pick up on those things we don't perceive when Neptune is direct. We are more likely to be listening to our own inner voice during this time and creativity and psychic or intuitive abilities may be increased along with any interest we have in spirituality. When Neptune retrogrades we can often have some profound inner awakenings.

Retrograde planets internalize our feelings and especially with Neptune we focus more on those things we cannot see than the ones we can. It is time to focus on the more ethereal matters as opposed to the material ones.

Neptune retrograde is often a good time for any type of creative work. If this is the case, breathe in the enhanced creativity over these next 6 months and then release the results to the world toward the end of the year. Compassionate and charitable causes can take up time and come to our attention during Neptune’s retrograde as well. We often see compassion play out in a grand scale on the world stage during these times.

If transiting Neptune aspects a personal planet in your chart when it retrogrades we tend to become more self deluding, depressed, or overly idealistic. Others may deceive us as well if we are not alert and think with our feet on the ground. It is important to be as grounded as possible if you are experiencing a hard Neptune transit. Neptune transits can go on for several years and if ever your feet need to be planted on firm soil it is now if you have such an aspect. If this is the case you will have mutable planets (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces).

Hard Neptune transits often coincide with over idealized relationships, or relationships with those who are really not available or married to others. We may feel we have met our soul mate or the most perfect partner in the world to wake up and find things were not as we had believed which leads to discouragement, depression and disenchantment. Often when Neptune retrogrades we find out that our dreams are not based on reality and this generally occurs during the retrograde of a harsh transit in our charts. This can not only affect relationships but many other areas of our lives depending on what area of the chart Neptune is transiting.

Human life involves all of the experiences we have and the internalization of them which is what the retrograde motion of Neptune implies. Having thoroughly thought through and refined our thoughts about our personal experiences, we will then incorporate any new information or corrections and release this knowledge into the world when Neptune turns direct again.

Mercury enters Leo July 2-25th

Expect a huge Mercurial shift as the planet of communication enters the third sign this month which is somewhat unusual.

Mercury in Cancer is about emotional thinking. Mercury in Leo can represent emotional thinking as well but much more in a self oriented way. Speech and communication will take a turn toward being more dramatic and at times it may seem like grandstanding.

Leo is ruled by the Sun which represents us or our true inner self. Our perspective can become ego-centered or it can become focused on what our needs really are without being self centered toward others. Mercury in Leo is a time to be your own best supporter, as well as those of others. The focus of Mercury over the next few weeks will be on what brings us the most joy, happiness and fun.

Mercury/Leo is more expressive, playful and dramatic than any other sign. While Mercury is in Leo the way we speak or even write can be designed to get others attention or simply get some type of rise out of someone else. Our communication takes on leonine qualities and the way we present ourselves and our ideas will be far more bold, expressive and direct. At best self expression can manifest itself in a creative and dramatic manner meant to draw in those who are most significant whether in love, friendship or business.

At worst communication can be too dramatic in nature and lean toward emotional outbursts rather than a creative expression of what we want. Take care not to let your conversation become too over bearing, demanding or provocative toward others. They same goes for being overly exuberant in your expression of emotions. Think about what you really wish to convey before expressing it. As Leo is a fire sign it may be hard to tone things down and come across in a manner that doesn’t overwhelm others. We can also expect a certain amount of gas-lighting and attention grabbing maneuvers with Mercury in this sign. But, all in all communication should tend toward being positive, upbeat and a little more playful if not enjoyable. That’s not bad in these overly serious times, unless of course its political theatre and I’m sure we will see plenty of this.

July 5th’s New Moon in Cancer

This month’s New Moon is in the sign ruling home, the homeland and family and falls over the long 4th of July holiday. This is a stable moon, although Cancer can be overly emotional. Many of us will be with family at this time, or friends.

Mars sextiles Saturn giving us the ability to work hard if we need to and accomplish something. Now is the time to get in touch with your feelings and perhaps those of others as well. Enjoy!

July 20th Mars enters Gemini

Mars enters Mercury’s sign July 20th-September 4th. Mars rules our action, desire and energy and Gemini is the sign ruling communication. All forms of communication will become more important, more assertive and there is a good chance we will say exactly what is on our minds. Our minds as well as our communication with others will be on fire for the next several months and be our greatest asset as well as our biggest problem if we are not aware of the pitfalls. That said, with some understanding of how the sign works, it can be a time of excitement, bright ideas, and an invigorating if not fun period of time.

Gemini rules the third house of the zodiac which is concerned with short trips, immediate family members and co-workers as well as our neighborhood or the area where we reside. Gemini is a mutable Air sign. Air signs are intellectual as opposed to emotional and mutable signs are very changeable, so we can expect to view things from a more detached viewpoint and change our minds often. Mars-Gemini loves a fast-paced environment with much coming and going so we can expect to be quite busy.

Gemini seldom moves in a straight line and likes to multi-task. People born with Mars in this sign may often do many things at once. They may drop one project to pick up another, because they know that in time they will come back around to it. Also, Gemini likes variety and since they don’t always operate in a linear fashion this is why they are sometimes considered ‘fickle,’ which most times can really be changeability due to new or different information.

Gemini is motivated by ideas and information, especially taking in information, and they frequently alter their course when new or better information comes to light. Gemini is not afraid of change, and they typically welcome it since their minds grasp things so quickly.

The worst thing for a Gemini is to be bored. When bored with a task or project Gemini will have a hard time completing it, which can be a failing of Mars in this sign. The greatest challenge to Mars in Gemini will be staying on track and not getting too scattered with things that might not be completed if the pace picks up too much. Gemini is typically fun, entertaining, curious open minded and friendly. We can expect most of our action during this time to come in the form of ideas and information; everything begins with an idea after all.

Witty and clever ideas will attract you at this time, as will eclectic people and places. You will be more interested in making contacts and connections, and trying new ways of approaching things, even new and different people. Freedom may be a greater theme over these months, as Gemini likes variety and not being tied down.

The July 21st Full Moon

This month’s Full Moon falls at 29 degrees of Capricorn. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn and is the ruler of the 10th house of work and business. This is the 2nd Capricorn full moon within a month.

This will be an intense Full Moon since it is conjunct Pluto. Moon-Pluto aspects are heavy and often reveal previously unknown situations or information.

Mercury squares Uranus becoming part of the Full Moon energy. This is indicative of sudden change and unexpected news and events.

This will be a significant full Moon in the US since it falls on the US natal chart Pluto in the 2nd house of money. Pluto represents crime, power struggles, corruption and we could hear of a significant death over the next few weeks.

The Sun enters Leo July 22-August 22

While Cancer rules home and family, Leo rules the 5th house of love and entertainment. While Cancer is about family get togethers and vacations, Leo is geared toward singles, fun and romance. Now is the time to dip your toes into the water and enjoy it as the season is so fleeting. This time can be a much welcome break from the stress and seriousness of the world so grab your fun in the sun while you can.

Leo is ruled by the Sun which gives us life and warmth and at this time of the year is impossible to ignore. Leo energy is confident and bold and this can be the best time of the year for friendship, fun and summer romance.

Leo is a fire sign and fire signs are prone to action, movement and creation, and they seldom let grass grow under their feet. When the Sun is in Leo we often want to shine, be in the spotlight and receive attention, or even come across as dramatic. Leo energy is not afraid to be front and center or larger than normal life and extraordinary. Now is your time to shine in whatever endeavor you choose so the plunge and be bold! You will be your best own cheerleader so make the most of it.

Even those who like to typically remain behind the scenes could start to desire more recognition and praise for what they do. Shy people may come out of their shell a little more during the Sun’s time in Leo.

Leo is a regal sign that rules royalty, theatre and acting. With the Sun in a fire element this becomes a take charge kind of energy. At best this energy can help you take command of your life, express yourself your way in an adventurous and striking manner and inspire more confidence. At worst its worst, Leo can be overly dramatic and too demanding of attention. Watch these traits and enjoy the inner child within. One of Leo’s best qualities is the ability to get in touch with the child within. In this way they never grow old.

July 25th Mercury enters Virgo until September 26th

Mercury enters Virgo and turns retrograde August 5th. On August 16th it retrogrades back into Leo where it turns direct on August 28th but remains in Leo until September 20th. On the 21st Mercury moves back into Virgo again, so Venus will alternate between these two signs for 9 weeks.

Mercury is considered ‘at home,’ in Virgo so this will be a major energetic switch from Mercury in Leo. Mercury is the planetary ruler of both Gemini and Virgo. While Mercury in Gemini is associated with quick responses, intelligence, and communication about a many different ideas, when Mercury is in Virgo communication and thinking is geared more toward facilitating ideas, analyzing information and presenting facts in a straight forward and factual manner.

Gemini may reach out for information of all types and go in different directions but Virgo hones in on what is most important and puts that information to practical use. While both signs rule Mercury, they each have a very different approach and purpose.

Virgo is very discerning and is often considered lazar focused. The downside to Mercury in Virgo is that at times it can be so discerning one can become lost in details, overly critical or picky, and this can be misinterpreted (or not). It is important to remember that while constructive criticism is one thing, Virgo can get caught up in being so overly critical, others are turned off. Most of the time however, Virgo’s true intent is just to get things right.

Use this time to work on projects that require organization, study, timing and important communication and you should do well. Details should end up being flawless.

Other significant transits:

July 3rd-Mercury opposes Pluto-This is a transit par excellence concerning propaganda and gas lighting.  It is prone to someone trying to convince you of their point of view. It is also obsessive in nature so for some obsessive thinking may be hard for some to avoid. This can turn into arguments as well as accidents so use caution, especially driving.

July 8th-Venus sextiles Uranus and Mercury sextiles Jupiter- The Venus transit is positive, light and indicative of unusual experiences and fun. Mercury-Jupiter is positive and upbeat making this a good day for just about anything.

July 10th-The Sun trines Saturn-A good day for important meetings and getting things done.

July 12th-Venus opposes Pluto-The energy is powerful the day before as well. This is a transit indicative of jealousy, obsession, possessiveness and in general a difficult transit, especially concerning love. Revenge tactics in love can occur depending on the nature of the person involved, issues from the past and deep seated emotional issues come to the forefront. At worst scandals occur under this aspect.

July 15th-Mars conjuncts Uranus-This is the most difficult transit of the month and the energy begins at least 5 days before and after. This is accident prone and represents unexpected and explosive events. This will certainly play out on the world stage in tumultuous ways. The combination of Mars-Uranus is dangerous and indicative of guns, knives, police and weapons. It is particularly dangerous for the hot spots around the globe. This coincides with the US Republican National convention and certainly will represent unexpected events. It is prominent in the chart of Donald Trump, Jimmy Carter and US President Joe Biden as well as others. Uranus also rules aircraft, electricity, the internet and other electronic media.

July 22-23-The Sun opposes Pluto-This is prone to power struggles and change. Pluto has the ability to end and regenerate. The opposition occurs once a year, and will be very powerful in those who were born in the last few days of Libra, Cancer, Aries and Capricorn.

June 2024; Summer solstice and the beautiful Cancer season!

This month the Sun will transit from Gemini into Cancer. Mercury will travel through 3 signs; Taurus, Gemini and then Cancer. Venus moves through Gemini and into Cancer and Mars completes its Aries cycle and enters Taurus. Both Saturn and Pluto turn retrograde and we experience a New Moon in Gemini and a full moon in Capricorn. Now, the details.

Mercury enters Gemini June 3rd-June 17th

The sign Gemini is all about communication and thought, and it is an Air sign ruled by Mercury. Mercury is considered ‘at home,’ in this sign, meaning Mercury works well in Gemini. Mercury rules both Gemini and Virgo.

This will be a significant energy shift from grounded Mercury in Taurus. Gemini is about free flowing thought, communication, and weighing out different ideas and patterns of thinking. Mercury-Gemini may seem scattered at times, but that is because Gemini likes to take in so much information and is not interested in details like Mercury in Virgo; the planet’s other ruler is.

Air signs and Gemini are intellectual as opposed to emotional so communication may seem lacking in emotion, and more centered around facts, concepts and ideas. To some, this may come across as cold but Mercury in this sign is more concerned with facts and ideas as opposed to emotion. Emotionally driven thinking will come when Mercury enters Cancer.

Mercury will spend a great deal of time in Gemini so we will see much communication and many new ideas flowing for the next few weeks.

Mental energy will be abundant while Mercury is in Gemini and you may need to find positive ways to direct it. You could encounter someone, or you may find that you say whatever comes to your mind without thinking. If you can control this tendency, Mercury in Gemini should be a delightful time, full of mental energy and big ideas. Gemini is known for inspiring others and uncovering little nuggets of wisdom and that can move us forward in a positive direction.

Pluto retrogrades June 2-October 12th

For some, this retrograde could go unnoticed unless it is making a significant aspect in your own personal chart as its affects occur on a very subtle but deep level.

Issues relating to money, joint finances, investments, lawsuits, partnerships and sex will become more internalized during this period allowing us to look at things from a different viewpoint. Pluto is about making deep change over time that can alter our lives in significant ways. One way of looking at Pluto’s retrograde is the discovery of that which is no longer working, which will become obvious as the powerful planet retrogrades. Pluto wants to uncover things and bring them from the darkness and into the light so positive change may occur. This works on a collective as well as personal level. Pluto is about fixing all things that are worn out or have outlived their purpose in your life, or been left to decay. This can include projects, relationships, ideas and even real estate to name only a few. Pluto tears down to rebuild in a stronger way.

Issues involving control, money, sex or power may appear to lose steam during this time, but these issues are not really going away, they are just going beneath the surface, where activity is still occurring on an inner level. In a sense we are backing up so we may reconsider important ideas and new information.  We are being given an opportunity to delve into the deepest parts of our subconscious mind to understand how we really feel, and what we would like to change.

When Pluto turns direct again any issues we have failed to deal with will surface again both in our personal lives and on the world stage. But, as Pluto retrogrades we have the opportunity to look at things differently and effect transformative change that can be permanent and make our lives stronger than what they were. The part of your life that will be affected depends on where transiting Pluto is in your personal chart.

Pluto’s last dance in Capricorn September 3rd-November 20th

During Pluto’s retrograde this year it returns to the sign of Capricorn one more time where it will remain at the critical degree of 29 Capricorn. Critical degrees are significant as they usher in endings and the energy can be tense.

In the world, Pluto in Capricorn is about top heavy patriarchal systems of government. Capricorn rules big business, governments, power and control. Pluto in Capricorn has been a difficult transit for many since it began in 2008 coinciding with the Bank crash and the “Great Recession.”

Pluto in Sagittarius (1996-2008) was ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion, and Pluto in Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the planet of restriction so you can see the stark difference between these two signs, not to mention the years of Covid when Pluto conjuncted Saturn.

I will write more about this critical last period of Pluto in this sign in the future but suffice it to say when Pluto re-enters Aquarius in November it will usher in a new period globally and for all of us personally.

June’s New Moon in Gemini June 6th

This month’s New Moon falls in the sign ruled by Mercury and is all about communication and information. This New Moon will conjunct Venus which will focus on love and money, but unfortunately it also squares Saturn, along with Venus, Mercury and the Sun; the most powerful part of this being the Sun, Venus square to Saturn.

Venus square Saturn can relate to problems in love, money and values. For some in relationships tottering on the edge this aspect could bring an ending. Otherwise, Saturn can be heavy, tiring, negative and in some cases depressing. Mercury will square Saturn through June 8th along with Venus’s square to Saturn. This New moon is significant in the charts of the US, Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Benjamin Netanyahu to name only a few.

Mercury enters Cancer June 17-July 11th

Mercury is the planet that rules all of our speech and communication whether it is writing, talking with others, making a sales pitch or talking with loved ones. Mercurial energy will change from fact oriented Gemini to the most emotional and sensitive of signs, and our communication will become much more emotionally driven.  Those who are born with Mercury in Cancer are typically able to sway others through their ability to emotionally inspire, convince or speak to another’s emotions.

When Mercury is in Cancer we intuit our feelings and conversation much more than during other times. The keyword for Mercury in Cancer is “I feel” as opposed to “I think.” Cancer is ruled by the Moon, the luminary that governs our inner emotions so while Mercury is in Cancer, it is in the Moon’s natural sign. During this time we will be more concerned with our emotional life and the emotions as well being of family members and those closest to us.

The emotionality of Mercury in Cancer will be something we will need to watch as this can lead to extreme emotional displays, reactions, and feelings that can get deeply hurt. The key with Mercury in this sign is to learn to think things through rather than react spontaneously and emotionally to what is said.

We may be concerned over issues regarding home and family members as well as our own emotional lives as we will delve deeply into what is working and what is not working in our inner lives and relationships with those closest to us.

Thoughts of the past and trips down memory lane may be common as Cancer is typically drawn to the past. Sometimes, Cancer never lets go of the past, but relives it many times, depending on what occurred. Mercury in Cancer is learning to let go of the past, especially if it was difficult and painful.

Otherwise, this is a beautiful time to get your head aligned with your heart and in touch with your true feelings.

June-8- July 20th Mars enters Taurus

Mars is the planet that rules our actions, sex lives and anger to name a few.

Mars in Taurus will be considerably different from Mars in Aries. Taurus is an earth sign ruled by the planet Venus, so our energies and action will change considerably but this does not mean we aren’t still going to see periods of anger and volatility. Taurus is ruled by Venus which not only rules love and money, but our values as well.

Typically, Mars in Taurus is a slow, determined and laid back, plodding kind of energy. During these times stubbornness and inability to bend may be a problem, and we could experience anger and frustration ourselves.

Mars in Taurus will slow things down, which will be a relief for many after the hectic go-go-go energies of Mars in Aries. People may seem more determined, if not stubborn in their actions. Decisions made and actions taken during this period may be permanent in nature.

There can be an earthy type of sensuality to Mars in this sign. We will be more inclined to look for material and physical comfort. We will be attracted to beautiful things of lasting value as Taurus likes fine things and luxury as well as value for the money.

As Taurus rules the 2nd house of money, there will be a greater focus on making and keeping money, and will be focusing on practical matters as long as Mars is in this sign. Mars in Taurus is prone to determination and reaching goals in a slow but steady manner.

Holding on to anger can be a problem with Mars in Venus ruled Taurus. Many would rather try and keep the peace, holding onto things until it reaches a boiling point and then they explode.

Mars in Taurus will work best for the other earth signs-Virgo and Capricorn. It can work well for Cancer, and Pisces. This period will bring more stress to Scorpio, as Mars in Taurus will oppose Scorpio, or any Scorpio planets placed in the chart. Mars in this sign will also be more difficult for the other fixed signs: Leo and Aquarius as Taurus creates a challenge to these signs along with more obstacles and blocks. None of this however, will be anything that cannot be overcome with patience and fortitude.

Venus enters Cancer June 17-July 12th

When Venus enters Cancer relationships become much more emotional and intense. Cancer is a pleasant sign for Venus and we can become much more interested in the commonalities that bind us together rather than separate.

Cancer is a water sign and rules women in general. Cancer can provide powerful emotional support to those in need. She is like a vast ocean, constantly churning, revealing what’s underneath only when and if she is ready to do so. When a Cancer feels threatened by others she simply retreats and finds comfort beneath the waves buried in the sand. You could feel this way during Venus’s stay in Cancer if someone you prioritize is insensitive enough to make you feel unloved or insignificant.

If Cancer feels comfortable with you she will make you feel warm, happy and the sky is the limit in terms of how far she is willing to go to ensure your emotional happiness. As she is ruled by the moon however which is constantly changing, emotions can take some sharp turns and Cancer can retreat or even become irritable.  Cancer is deeply devoted but if triggered she can become irrational. If you are sensitive enough to other’s feelings you can avoid the emotional doldrums that can accompany this sign. Such is the way of love; no one said it would be easy.

Cancer rules the home, so this month many social activities will take place in, or will be centered around the home. Cancer is at her best in the home and has a deep love of family, food and the past.

This is a great time to spend time with family especially Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunts and sisters or any important women in your life. You could also improve the beauty and comfort of your home.

June 20th, the Sun enters Cancer and summer solstice occurs at 4:51PM, EDT

Summer is finally here! This is also the Summer Solstice, which is the longest day of the year, and celebrated by cultures around the world.

This marks the start of the short 3 month season of warm beaches, outdoor events and gatherings, sunshine and romantic moonlit summer nights.  Since summer and the Cancer season is the most romantic time of the year, get ready to focus on your feelings as well as those of others. Cancer is typically sensitive and emotional, laid back, home loving and focused on feelings above logic or intellect. Some will feel comfortable and content, and others will find the emotional energy difficult to deal with.

From June 20-July 22 Cancer will rule the skies and the focus will be on our emotional connections with others as well as home and family.  Cancer is ruled by the Moon which is the significator of women, our emotions, how we connect with others, family or those who are like family and what we need on an emotional level to thrive.  No matter what sign you were born under during this time we are focused on getting in touch with what we really need and want on an inner level to feel happy and secure.

Look for a huge energetic shift as the Sun moves from Gemini to Cancer as Gemini is about intellect and ideas as opposed to emotional Cancer, who is deeply connected to the past and their roots and sentimentality. This is the most sensitive sign in the zodiac, and like the Moon, feelings are always shifting and changing at this time. The Moon changes signs every 2 and a half days and those born under Cancer are dramatically affected by the changes. The moon represents our instincts and feelings that are not bound up in logic or reason.

Cancer is part of the Water element and not only are Water signs more sensitive and emotional than others they are in touch for their deepest feelings and inner psyche. The Cancer season can seem moodier than other times but Cancer is also intuitive and perceptive.  Cancer is a caring and giving sign and you may find yourself feeling more protective and comforting toward loved ones or find yourself spending time with a friend over a cup of coffee in their kitchen talking about their concerns.

Cancer can come across as having a hard edge at times, but you have to remember the crab is protected by a hard shell to fend off predators. Sometimes Cancer can put up a wall to protect themselves from being hurt. To get to the innermost feelings of a Cancer, trust has to be built and they seldom read like an open book unless you have earned their trust. Once you have earned their trust, Cancer opens up and usually has an off the wall zany since of humor and laugh when you get to know them.

While Cancer is a loving and warm sign, moodiness and too many ups and downs can sometimes get in the way of saying or accomplishing what you want to achieve. We will be operating more on emotion, and our feelings and judgment may be colored by our inner emotional reactions to things as well as conditioning.

In the end if you really connect there is no sign more loyal and protective than the crab, and their intuition about what is happening is generally spot on.

A Full Moon on June 21-22 at 1 degree of Capricorn

Capricorn is the natural ruler of the 10th house of career and business, and its ruling planet is Saturn. Saturn is all about work, structure and discipline.

The closest aspect this full Moon will make is its opposition to Venus at 5 degrees of Cancer and Mercury at 8 degrees of the same sign.

Moon-Venus oppositions can relate to stress in relationships or with women, values or money. Moon-Venus oppositions aren’t always difficult but they can result in hurt feelings or issues in love. The key is to not let anything get blown out of proportion. Moon-Mercury transits can involve communication, travel and arguments.

The Moon will sextile Mars which lends some stability.

Saturn turns retrograde June 29-November 15th

Saturn retrogrades this year at 19 degrees of Pisces and will go back to 12 degrees before turning direct.

Saturn's retrograde can be a pivotal time when many changes occur, especially if it is hitting something in your personal chart.

When you experience a Saturn transit, you generally get three passes and the retrograde pass is always the most challenging. Hard Saturn transits are associated with delays, slowdowns, endings and various difficulties depending on what it is aspecting in your personal chart. During its retrograde you may have to work harder to get what you want.

As Saturn deals with our structures in life we may be concerned with basic security issues while Saturn is retrograde both individually and collectively. Retrograde Saturn is a period where some things may slow down a bit and like any retrograde planet is time to reconsider and sometimes back up to take a good luck at what we are working on and where we are going in life. During this 5 month period we may receive new information about something significant or find a solution to a problem that has been plaguing us which is the benefit of the retrograde. Retrograde Saturn is a time of working out issues especially in terms of business but could include any area of life depending on where it is in your chart. During the retrograde period we often work through challenging issues so that when it turns direct we can approach things head on, minus any ongoing problems. This is a time of doing the hard work to accomplish what you want, and at times it can bring personal and spiritual growth as a result of dealing with hard to solve problems.

Jupiter trines Pluto for basically the first half of the month. This is a positive aspect that can affect the world stage and our personal lives. Aquarius represents the power of the people and individuality and Pluto represents power. While this aspect is brief it can be powerful. The exact hit is on June 2nd.

On a personal level this can help us in terms of moving forward with projects and especially groups and organizations. Its energy can give us a positive boost depending on where it is located in your personal chart.

June 4th, Mercury trines Pluto and conjuncts Jupiter. This is positive for communication and Mercury-Jupiter is hopeful and upbeat. Also, the Sun conjunct Venus represents one of our better days especially for love, romance, money and socializing.

June 10th/11th, Mars squares Pluto at 0-1 degrees of Taurus/Aquarius setting off the Mars/Taurus transit with a bang. I use this word metaphorically but this is a fairly dangerous aspect in the world. Pluto rules power and Mars represents friction, guns, men and this is a volatile few days. On the world stage we will see many issues around the hot spots on the globe and it can bring additional stress and even violence.

In our personal lives this aspect can result in power struggles, arguments and frustration or even power grabs. It is best to keep calm and not engage in conversations or situations that are contentious or volatile. As with any Mars transit use caution since Mars can be related to accidents. This aspect is also prone to obsessive thinking and behavior if the individual is prone in this direction.

June 16th, Venus squares Neptune- This is a confusing transit especially relating to love and money. Feelings are often confused or confusing and new information can be revealed.

For some this time can manifest as magical and things can seem beyond the ordinary. Creativity, dreams and visions can be at an all time high. For others it is simply a confusing period with a lack of clarity. It is important during these times to remember that Neptune represents illusion, and this can include self illusion so it important to keep our feet on the ground now matter how perfect (or imperfect) things may seem. This could at worst represent a transit of theft that could involve money, possessions or even the heart. Now is the time to keep your feet on the ground and use common sense and good judgment.

June 17th-Mercury squares Neptune. This aspect actually is a combination of Venus and Mercury square Neptune. Typically this is a tiring transit, indicative of dreams, fantasies, misinformation, lies, lack of clarity and lack of information. Some may feel depressed. Anything that can be misunderstood probably will be.

Thinking will not be clear and this is a bad day for any kind of negotiation or to start a new project.

Daydreaming, and vivid imaginations may manifest, or creativity in some form as well as compassion for others or spiritual pursuits.

At its worst, it is depression, lies, and an absolute lack of clarity or direction.

If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Take in any new information with skepticism. Be sure you know what you are talking about-you might not. Be careful when you hit SEND, the email is going to the correct person.

If you are driving use caution as you or another driver could be tired or unaware of what's going on, or you could get lost.

June 20th-Before the Sun enters Cancer in the afternoon it will complete its square to Neptune which began the night before. This is a confusing aspect prone to misunderstanding(s), gas lighting or lies and deceit at the worst. Be careful about signing documents and make sure you have all the information. If something seems too good to be true…you know the rest.

You could experience vivid dreams, intuition or see a surge in creativity or spirituality. Neptune can at time relate to water related incidents.

Jupiter enters Gemini May 26th

Jupiter is the planet of gain and expansion and wherever it transits in your chart is where you will see the greatest gain and luck. Jupiter enters Gemini May 26, 2024-June 9th, 2025.

Jupiter is called ‘the greater benefic.’ Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, commerce and young people. Our luck during this transit will come in the form of ideas, communication, travel, education and it will be a great time for publishing, speaking, writing, singing and the like. It will necessitate a broad minded approach and you may want to leave your comfort zone behind when it comes to new ideas.  The last time Jupiter was in this sign was June 11, 2012-June 26, 2013.

Jupiter in Gemini is considered to be debilitated which simply means it is not as comfortable in this sign as others or as powerful while in Gemini. Nevertheless, we can expect gain and expansion wherever it falls in our natal chart.

Jupiter in Gemini is chatty, expansive, optimistic, broad minded, and prone toward big ideas, plans and education. On the downside you could experience a flow of information and we will need to be discerning in terms of ideas we accept or act on because there is so much information.

 Where and how Jupiter helps you depends not only on where it falls in your chart but the aspects it makes to other planets. Let’s take a look at what Jupiter will do this year;

May 25, Jupiter enters Gemini

May 31-June 2nd Jupiter sextiles Pluto

August 17-22, Jupiter squares Saturn

October 9th, Jupiter turns retrograde until February 4th, 2025

December 24-25th, Jupiter squares Saturn again

Jupiter sextiles Pluto

-Jupiter’s sextile to Pluto is brief but positive. This is a good time to present ideas, work with groups, kick off new projects or enter into financial agreements.

Jupiter squares Saturn

-Jupiter’s square to Saturn is not as positive. Jupiter square Saturn can often relate to business deals or opportunities, but it is also a time of financial reckoning, or looking at financial matters from a more conservative viewpoint. Jupiter squared Saturn in 2015, and I wrote this at the time:

“This transit might be compared to trying to paddle a canoe upstream or trying to drive with the brakes on. While Jupiter is the planet of expansion, Saturn represents restriction and delays, and this is a collision of these two principals.

Money issues may come to the surface, or depending on what is in your chart you may feel the restriction coming from some other area of life, depending on what it is aspecting in your personal chart. For some, relationships may end at this time, but usually only if they are not working out already.

Many things may slow down during this time, or you may lack inner conviction, or your timing can be off.  It is important to consider these factors. You could be dealing with situations and people from the past.

This transit can represent legal, financial and business problems, and there could be a lack of support, especially if this aspects your natal chart. There could be issues with higher education, moral issues, or indifference. Frustration may build up to the point where something has to give and change occurs at this point especially if it aspects something in your chart.

There could be added responsibilities and pressures in your job during this period, or you could make some kind of change in your job or work, as this is not all negative. If you are working on a financial deal of some type it may come together at this time, or you will receive evidence that it won’t pan out-one way or the other.

Saturn and Jupiter squared each other August (2015) and we saw the devaluation of the Chinese currency, the normalization of US relations with cuba and the economic turmoil in Greece.

As Saturn is in Sagittarius this shows conflict ideas, concepts and religion, and Jupiter in Virgo shows issues around work and practical matters either directly or indirectly. For example, many political ideas are floating around at this time, but which ones are realistic, responsible and real?
There has been a major outbreak of the food containment listeria, and we could see more of this on a larger basis, or some other disease could surface. (from 2015)

Jupiter-Saturn is one of the ten Major planetary cycles. (from 2015 continued)

This cycle goes from conjunction to conjunction, and the last cycle began in May of 2000, in Taurus, the natural ruler of the second house of earned income, possessions and money.  Since that time we have seen massive changes in the financial world. In June of 2006, it was in a square to Saturn at 9 degrees, Scorpio/Leo and at this time many analysts were pointing to a bubble in the housing market that would become the crash of 2008. Another square occurred in October of that year at 23 degrees. In 2011, (March) Jupiter opposed Saturn at 14 Libra-Aries, and it was at this point that Greece was feeling the debt crisis and the International Monetary Fund was  signing off billions of Euros to Ireland Portugal and  Italy. Greece agreed to extreme austerity measures once again on the eve of the Jupiter-Saturn square of 2015, driven by Germany, and this situation will be played out between now and when the next conjunction occurs in 2020, when we will begin this cycle again in Capricorn.”

Jupiter was conjunct Saturn in 2020 in Capricorn and then in Aquarius starting a new cycle. Its square to Saturn in 2024 will be part of this new cycle. A square tests things and shows us what needs to be worked on.

Saturn forces us to look at reality and our limitations while Jupiter is about expansion. When the two clash it can bring to reality the fact we have to re-look at something in some way.

Of course transits like this always play out in the world in a significant way and in this case we can expect more significant clashes between the 2 political parties in the US, and this aspect could affect money and the financial markets as well.

 Jupiter retrogrades

-When Jupiter retrogrades its energy often turns inward and we have to back up and re-consider some of our plans. This is often a time of planning and reorganizing in some way. Jupiter’s retrograde can be compared to a racehorse; there is a time to run and compete and there is a time to train for the upcoming race. The retrograde would be the latter. Jupiter’s benefic rays are not as powerful when the planet of gain is retrograde. While you should not anticipate it, there are times the retrograde can work in reverse.

Jupiter in Gemini will affect the signs in the following ways. If you know your ascendant use that.

-Aries-immediate family, short trips, learning, communication

-Taurus-money, earned income

-Gemini-When Jupiter is in your sign you can gain personally in many different ways. This occurs only every 12 years.

-Cancer-Jupiter in the 12th can be a subtle type of spiritual healing. You may spend more time alone and help comes at the last minute.

-Leo-Jupiter in the 11th house means you do well with friends, groups and have a higher chance of attaining your hopes and wishes.

-Virgo-This year should be great for your career as Jupiter transits your career house.

-Libra-Jupiter in the 9th house can expand your education, travel and world view. Great for publishing.

-Scorpio-Jupiter in the 8th house increases your potential financially as it rules ‘other people’s money,’ partner’s money or corporate money.

-Sagittarius-Jupiter transits your 7th house of partners and committed relationships.

-Capricorn-Jupiter transits through your house of work and health

-Aquarius-Jupiter transits through your 5th house of children, friends, and love

-Pisces-Jupiter transits through your 1st house of home. Your family could expand or you could move, redecorate or enjoy your home.
