April astrology: full steam ahead!

April is all about stating, or understanding what you want and what your personal needs are as we move into the warmer part of the year.

During April the Sun transits through Aries, the first sign of spring, and then Taurus. The planet of communication or Mercury will spend time in Pisces, Aries and Taurus this month. Venus will move from me-me-me Aries into earthy Taurus on April 14th, and Venus becomes the star of the show.

Mars completes its transit in Gemini and moves into Cancer on April 23rd, putting a focus on home, family and our emotional lives.

For the majority of the month, no planet is retrograde, so we will move full steam ahead this month which is a fairly rare occurrence giving us an opportunity to accomplish a great deal on a collective level and in our own lives.

The first New Moon of the spring falls in Aries on April 12th, followed by an unpredictable if not explosive full moon in Scorpio April 27th that may shake things up and bring about a desire for more personal freedom.

As the Sun switches from Aries to Taurus April 19th, our thoughts and energies will begin to focus on other things besides our own personal needs. Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, beauty, values and money so we will become more grounded and focused on the material and physical world. By April 20th, the Sun, Venus and Mercury will all be in Taurus forming a stellium in the sky, or a group of planets ruled by Venus forcing us to look at our material as well as emotional needs.

April 27th, Pluto turns retrograde as it does every year, and we will begin to focus on those issues that lie deep in our subconscious mind and work to address them, before we are forced to do so in some encounter the universe brings to our attention.

Mercury enters Aries

April 3rd, the planet of communication moves from creative Pisces into Aries and we begin a new intellectual cycle. While in Aries communication as well as thinking will pick up speed and shift toward a style of getting straight to the point, sometimes to the point of even seeming abrupt or rude to others, so it is important to watch our words and tone.

For the Fire signs this will seem very natural and comfortable, and for others (especially Water signs) this type of communication may seem too harsh or outside their comfort zone.

Conveying information and ideas will be faster, sharper and without beating around the bush but we must watch out for overly assertive communication with others or getting carried away with ideas that have not been thoroughly thought out as our mind may be moving so fast.

At its best Mercury in Aries can provide us with a mental state that is optimistic, encouraging, on point and self-confident. At its worst Mercury in Aries can come across as thoughtless, aggressive, impatient and without respect as we can sometimes forget to approach conversations in a thoughtful manner. Details can be missing in conversation as Aries is prone to streamlined thinking and communication and does not like to get bogged down in details.

April 6th, Venus sextiles Mars bringing the male and female planets into harmony. This gives us a window of opportunity to express ourselves in an easy and positive manner and romantic encounters could surface.

April 9th, Mars squares Neptune and this energy will be powerful in the few days before and after. This is difficult energy, tiring and it may be confusing. Neptune tends to fog the issues at hand, and for this energy to work we must leave our egos at the at the door. Judgment may be poor making this a negative time for important decisions but the New moon will soon bring more clarity and this will pass.

The cure for this transit will be Mercury’s sextile to Saturn on April 10th. While Neptune-Mars is difficult and confusing, Mercury-Saturn transits tend to show us the reality of the situation, and much can be accomplished and completed on a transit like this. Also on April 10th, Venus sextiles Jupiter which can bring a hopeful and positive energy to the table. You may not be overly ambitious, but it could make for a pleasant and relaxed day.

Aprils New Moon

April 11, the New Moon falls at 22 degrees of Aries. Aries rules the first house of the self and we are typically connected with our own personal needs, sometimes to the exclusion of others. This will mark a time of fresh starts, new beginnings and the like, and this moon can pack a punch!

We can expect to be active and our energies will be fueled by Mars, Aries ruler. This moon may seem aggressive to some, and we may as well expect some of the people we are involved with to seem cranky as Aries does not work as well for Water signs as it does Fire signs.

This Moon will give us an opportunity to decide where we are going and how we get there, as it is the first full moon of spring and marks a brand new cycle.

Transformation and change may well be on our mind as this moon will square Pluto, the harbinger of change and transformation, making change possible, but at the same time not easy. For some, the Moons square to Pluto could bring revelations, but if so, this is information we need to move forward.

Venus has entered its square to Pluto as well, and this is exact just after 11:00 PM, EDT.

Venus-Pluto transits can bring up obsessions, hidden desires and issues concerning money. You could experience some type of revelation or understanding concerning a relationship, and this can be hard energy to handle. Arguments and disagreements can arise, so this is not the best time to bring up contentious issues, and if you do be prepared for the answer. At times, old lovers may resurface or you could feel fixated on something from the past. At best this transit can transform, and at worst, it can be destructive due to its obsessive nature. Pluto transits tend to tear things down before they rebuild.

April 13th, the Sun’s sextile to Mars will present us with the energy and ability to accomplish a great deal if we tap into this energy. This will be followed by April 15th’s positive sextile to Jupiter which is typically upbeat and hopeful.

Venus enters Taurus

Venus leaves Aries for Taurus April 14, where it will remain until May 9th. Venus is at home in Taurus and works very well in this sign. Over the next few weeks there will be a focus on love, money, luxury items or beauty, beautiful things, relationships and values. Also, it's about getting value for your money.

Now is the time to focus on relationships, and putting your emotions and feelings first along with what you share with others. This can be a relaxed, sensual period of time over the next three weeks where we are focused on the physical, the beautiful, and we can feel grounded and connected to the outdoors. Plan a walk or hike, and get grounded by Mother Earth. Typically this is a great time for planting and getting your garden under control.

Now is the time to seek pleasure in all forms, and this period typically embodies harmony with others, and can be a beautiful chilled out and relaxed period.

April 16th, the Sun squares Pluto and this can be a day fraught with tension and power struggles. At best, this aspect may transform something in your life, but it may not be especially easy. Pluto rules the bullies of the world, or those pushing their own agenda so use caution. This will be a significant news day.

April 17th, Mars trines Jupiter and this is a positive, pleasant and easy aspect. For some this may bring luck, and for others accomplishment through hard work. You could be dealing with the law or lawyers, some cause of justice or make financial decisions at this time. Either way, this aspect is hopeful and is at times, associated with luck. Also on April 17th, Mercury squares Pluto and this is indicative of obsessive or very deep thinking, and it may be difficult to let go of a particular subject you have on your mind this day. At best, you can dig into something and at worst, this can provoke arguments, disagreements and revelations, but the positive Mars energy will go a long way toward balancing this aspect out.

The Sun enters Taurus

March 19th, the Sun enters Taurus, and the Taurus season begins. As we switch from Aries to Taurus, we should have experienced some new beginnings in our lives, whether personal or in work. The Sun in Taurus is a time to become steady on our feet, get grounded, and turn our attention to more material concerns. This represents the second sign of spring when the seed begins to grow, and our new beginnings from the previous month should start to show growth. Taurus is typically a relaxed, sociable period of time as Venus is the ruler of the sign.

Mercury enters Taurus

Along with the Sun, Mercury also enters Taurus April 19th  where it will remain until May 4th. Expect communication to slow down and become more thoughtful and less brash. This is a congenial sign for Mercury prone to deep, if not thoughtful communication with others, that may often be centered around Venus ruled events such as pleasure or material items. As this is a fixed sign, some may tend toward stubbornness, and typically once a decision is made under Mercury-Taurus it is final.

April 22, Venus conjuncts Uranus. This can bring sudden and unpredictable situations, good or bad. Utilize this day to do or try something different. The energy can be energizing or chaotic, depending on what it aspects in your personal chart. Now is the time to try something new in your social life or relationship, and at times this aspect can be connected with a greater desire for freedom. It is possible we could see shifts in finances at this time.

The planet of action enters Cancer

April 23rd, Mars, the planet of action and the God of War enters Cancer until June 11th. Over the next 6 or 7 weeks, many of our actions will be focused on or around the home, family, and those we live with. During this time you could be involved in a change or move involving the home, real estate, or changes concerning these matters. You could paint, redecorate or buy new furniture.

Mars in Cancer also brings up basic foundation/security issues or issues with parents and older relatives. While this may work well for Water signs, and perhaps Earth, it may be hard to handle for Air and especially fire signs. This will be the start of a new 2 year cycle for those born under the sign of Cancer.

Cancer is the most emotional sign of the zodiac and as Mars changes signs you may notice people becoming much more emotional, crabby or melancholy.

With the focus on the home you may do plan family reunions, look for real-estate, take cooking classes, do family genealogy, or other  family related activities and these are all good uses of this energy.

Mars is not at home in Cancer and energy does not flow well. It is considered to be at its fall, meaning it loses strength and influence in this placement.

Cancer rules the home and family and the homeland. We will likely see issues arise of national concern and the homeland. Patriotism in all of its forms, good or bad, may be more prevalent at this time.

Also on April 23rd, Mercury conjuncts Uranus. This is prone toward futuristic thinking but also scattered thinking and communication. Watch for accidents, unexpected mood changes, and the potential for unexpected communication or news.

April 24th Venus squares Saturn. This can be a 24 hour period that can bring about tiredness, melancholy or depression. This is not good for social matters, or you could feel unloved or socially shy. This is a short lived transit that no one should take too seriously.

April 25th Mercury squares Saturn. This is much like the above mentioned transit, but it is more intellectual than emotional. This day can be prone toward negative thinking, communication, and tiredness.

April Full Moon

April’s full moon occurs April 26th/27th depending on which coast you live on. The lunar peak occurs at 8 degrees of Scorpio and this moon will oppose Uranus. With a powerful aspect like this we can expect unexpected situations to arise and some of them may seem explosive. This day and the few before and after may be full of unexpected events, mood changes and changes of plans. Freedom and money or loans, mortgages and joint finances may be a theme, and we could see changes in financial markets.

Many people may desire more freedom, and some relationships and other situations may end or change unexpectedly.

Uranus can rule brilliance and change, but also disruption and unexpected themes. For some this could be an ideal time to make a change in a new direction. It is a moon we should not make rigid plans for and remain fluid in terms of changing activities and events.

As this moon also opposes the Sun, Venus and Mercury, events could concern loved ones, romance and relationships, young people, travel and communication. As the Moon squares Saturn, energies can be tiring, negative, and we may feel we are not up to all of our responsibilities.

At this time we can expect major, if not unexpected events and news/news events surrounding this full moon. We will see many changes around the globe, and some of the events could concern finance, and the financial markets and other matters.

April 27th, Pluto, or the God of the Underworld changes direction and retrogrades as it does every year. World events often occur around this time but on a personal level we may hardly notice it. Events and concerns may become more internalized, plans made, and internal issues resolved between now and October 6th, when it turns direct again.

April 29th, Mercury sextiles Neptune which can bring about a creative day full of psychic feelings or experiences. This is a compassionate transit and a day to help out others.

April 30th, the Sun conjuncts Uranus and this is another aspect prone to sudden and unexpected changes. We may feel positively electric on this day, full of new visions and ideas, or in the typical style of Uranus transits it can be a day where nothing goes as expected and many changes occur. Take the high road, remain fluid in terms of daily activities and take advantage of any unexpected wisdom that may come your way!

Cosmic and majical new moon in Pisces

This month’s new moon falls in the last sign of the zodiac or Pisces on March 13th, at 5:21 EST. We will begin to feel the energy in the week before and for two weeks after until the next full moon on March 28th.

On a Pisces new moon the dream can awaken and we can be led to follow the magic of our heart. This moon has great sensitivity and compassion and perception is heightened. Now is the time to try and express the positive qualities of Pisces which include creativity, visualization, expressing your intuition and accepting things that are less than perfect, including people in your life. This does not mean you should become a doormat, but perfection is a hard to attain quality. You could consider taking a ‘leap of faith’ in some manner during this moon. Pisces is mutable energy which means it is always changing and sifting.

Affairs of the heart will be important as Venus, the planet of love is approaching its conjunction to Neptune. Venus conjunct Neptune can be a double edged sword. It can be magical, mysterious and creative. Love can be grand at this time, or you could be deceived. If you meet someone new don’t take anything for granted and this is not a positive aspect for financial matters. Pisces likes to transcend beyond the day to day world so this moon and the few days before and after can be a beautiful time to connect with others and reach for the sky as long as you keep your feet on the ground.

This can seem like an especially idealistic time and for some and it will represent candles and reverie but at the same time Neptune can also represent illusions that simply do not last as time passes.

Some may experience feelings of insecurity or confusion and if this is the case it may simply be a period not to take action. Creativity, art, faith and compassion will be greatly enhanced as well dreams. Engaging in compassionate ventures, any type of creativity or spiritual search is the highest and best use of this energy. It is no mistake that Passover and Lent are occurring over the next two weeks.

With a Moon in Pisces some things can end, or you may have projects or events you are wrapping up. Pisces represents the 12th house or the end of the zodiac. Endings are simply the preparatory phase of new beginnings. The 12th house also represents places of seclusion, and what lies in our subconscious mind, which may be speaking very loudly to us at this time.

This moon sextiles Pluto giving us great emotional depth and the ability to communicate on a deeper so now is the time to express your truest and deepest feelings with others.

In the collective, the New moon will play out as well as in our personal lives. Pisces can be especially deceptive and manipulative so we can expect propaganda and conspiracy theories to ramp up, but we may also see acts of great sacrifice and compassion as well. Sorting through actual facts will be a necessity; racial justice/injustice will be a theme at this time. Pisces is frequently connected to water related weather conditions and events.

Those most affected by this moon will be the mutable signs; Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces, or anyone with planets in their chart at 20-26 degrees of a mutable sign.

The astrology of March 2021

The first of 3 squares this year between Saturn and Uranus occurred last month. While this powerful transit will continue throughout most of the year, its influence will be waning a bit-at least for now. In the US the most significant event appears to be the major snowstorm that blasted a great deal of the nation creating disastrous power and water outages in Texas that also cost a number of lives. We also saw corona virus deaths reach 500,000, and of course the political division in the country continued along with investigations into the January 6th Capitol riot. Saturn’s square to Uranus not only affects world events, but our own personal lives. Change can be inevitable if this transit touches something in your personal chart, and some of it can be unexpected.

One individual we are all aware of is golf pro Tiger Woods who’s Mercury (cars-travel) was aspected by the Saturn-Uranus square. He suffered a serious car wreck February 23, and now faces some major recovery time. Best of luck to Tiger!

During March the Sun travels through Pisces, then Aries bringing spring and the solstice with it on March 20th.  Mercury, the planet of communication continues its transit through Aquarius and then Pisces. Venus will travel through Pisces and then Aries, and Mars, the planet of action and war leaves Taurus to enter intellectual Gemini. We have a New Moon in Pisces, followed by a beautiful full moon in Libra.

While March should be less stressful than February, this month there will be a number of planets in Pisces that aspect or meet up with Neptune. While Neptune may bring creativity and some beautiful or ah ha moments it is also associated with lack of clarity, misinformation and deception so we are likely to hear a great deal of misinformation in the public sector as well as our own lives. These transits require clear thinking and awareness of your surroundings and interactions with others. On or around these dates we may also see water related weather events. The most important dates to watch for are:

March 10, March 13, March 27-29.

The Sun in Pisces and Aries

The Sun transits through Pisces February 18th through March 19th. Pisces is the final sign of the zodiac that rules the 12th house that astrologers connect to endings, places of seclusion and the unconscious mind. This part of the zodiac is considered the realm of the unknown that also governs things like secrets, dreams and magic.  At times this last sector of the astrology chart can represent secret enemies or clandestine affairs or relationships that remain secret and hidden as well.

Pisces is a sensitive water sign, whose planetary rulers are Jupiter and Neptune. Jupiter is the planet of gain and expansion and Neptune rules the oceans, intuition, psychics, dreams, drugs or alcohol, spirituality, and lies or deception. Neptune can represent beautiful dreams and inspiration or it can cause you to sink to the lowest of emotional depths. This is represented by the Pisces image which depicts two fish swimming in opposite directions.

There are 12 astrological seasons coinciding with the 12 signs of the zodiac and each sign affects a different part of your chart every year, and each month the Sun enters a different sign.

During the Pisces season get ready to feel more, be more emotional, and dream bigger. You may feel more intuitive, creative and tuned in to others. You might become more interested in movies and art, or anything that can allow you to escape reality for the moment. Now will be the time to go with the flow and perhaps not follow a rigid schedule because like water, Pisces like to flow along at its own pace.

Compassion is a Pisces trait and you may feel more of this for others, or you could even become engaged in a cause you feel strongly about over the next month. Pisces typically have a way of calming and helping others in moments of crisis, and these individual have a tender and helpful spirit.

During the Pisces season good movies typically come out, along with art, music, theatre and news concerning religion, even if it involves a TV news story or documentary.

With the Pisces connection to the last part of the zodiac or the twelfth house many things may end during this time, or you could be wrapping up certain projects in preparation of new ones. Pisces is also the last sign of the winter months just before we enter Aries and spring. It has been a long winter this year and brighter days (literally) are on the horizon now as we approach the Aries season when we will all begin anew once again.

The first day of spring always occurs as the Sun enters Aries which is also the spring solstice. This year the solstice falls on March 20th at 5:37 AM, EDT.The Sun in Aries rules the first house of the zodiac or the self, and its planetary ruler is Mars, the planet of action, aggression and the ruler of men. Aries is a fire sign that can denote bravery, as well as impatience.

While the Sun is in Aries we can expect to be more driven and try to accomplish more. The sun in Aries is like a fresh start and like the plants that begin to grow at this time; we too begin new endeavors as spring is in the air!

We will have little desire to let grass grow under our feet with Aries. Expect people to be more assertive and aggressive in terms of getting what they want. As Aries rules the first house of self we will be more aware of what we want, but the key is to remember that others will feel the same. This can create conflict and the Aries personality can at times be brash and demanding. But at the same time this sign can show great loyalty and determination. Conflicts can arise with the sun in Mars sign but for the most part Aries likes to be fair in all matters if not impartial.

Mercury in Aquarius and then Pisces

Mercury continues its transit through the sign Aquarius until March 15th when it enters Pisces. Due to its retrograde last month Mercury has been in Aquarius since February 2nd for a total of 6 weeks. This is a great deal of Mercurial Air energy which will change on March 15, when Mercury enters Pisces, the sign of inspiration, faith and dreams.

During Mercury’s remaining time in Aquarius we will be able to look at all sides of the picture and be able to mentally detach from ideas and situations more easily. Aquarius is considered quirky, eccentric, and open. Your mind needs the time and room to explore new ideas with this sign and you may explore new concepts and ways of looking at problems. You may want and expect more mental freedom and the time just to be you.

When Mercury enters Pisces things that are secret and hidden can sometimes be revealed. Pisces and the twelfth house are a mixed bag. Pisces is the planet of psychic ability and creativity, inspiration and intuition, romantic love and daydreams. But, it also rules alcohol and drugs, lies and deception, hidden situations and information, illusion, delusion and confusion.

Mercury in Pisces can confuse the issue at hand or it could make you more intuitive, or you could believe you are intuiting a situation only to find out you are off base. It may be hard to get a clear picture with Mercury in this sign, or you could misspeak or fail to understand the actual issues. Artistic ability, compassion and psychic talents can be highlighted. Mercury is in Pisces is considered to be its detriment. Thus, its action in this sign doesn’t function as well as other signs.

On the other hand, Mercury travels through the 12 signs every year. Pisces is a dreamer and you may find yourself focused on your own dreams. In dreams, we often find our pathway to happiness if we can become clear enough about what it is we truly want. If we can answer this question we can find a way to manifest it.

Mars enters Gemini

March 3rd, Mars, the planet that rules our action enters Mercury’s sign or Gemini where it will remain until April 23. As Mercury rules speech we may all feel quite assertive when we are communicating with others, and it is important to remember the wise person thinks before they speak. You may be inclined to be direct when you communicate but strong words can inadvertently create advisories.

Mars instigates our action and while in Gemini we will be anything but bored. This will manifest in curiosity, trying new things and ideas and we can expect our mind more than anything else to be ignited. With this Mars placement we have the ability to take action on our new ideas and implement them in a logical way as Gemini is both logical and intellectual. Gemini also loses interest quickly and can’t stand to be bored for long.

The challenge with Mars in Gemini will be to stay on track and not become too scattered as Gemini finds it difficult to stay focused on one thing for long periods of time. The key with Mars in this sign will be to not start too many projects, leaving everything unfinished and nothing completed. If we can conquer this tendency we can accomplish a great deal with Mars in this sign.

Mars also rules sex and passion so it should come as no surprise that while in this placement mental stimulation and a meeting of the minds will become the biggest turn on of all. In terms of meeting new people expect to be more curious about how they think and respond to things. If there is no mental or intellectual compatibility expect to lose interest quickly. Every sign serves a purpose and in this case, now is the time to approach things slowly, getting to know more about the person first. If you are intrigued by their mental prowess, then there is a chance to move forward.

Venus in Pisces and Aries

Venus is ‘exalted’ in Pisces in astrological terms meaning it is well placed in this sign which is gentle, perceptive, artistic and emotional creating a great ambiance for love. Pisces is Venus’s favorite sign and love has no barriers here.

Now is the time to embrace romance, love, fantasy, creativity and dreams and Pisces is all about all of these things. Pisces is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion as well as Neptune the planet that rules the imagination, our dreams and fantasies. Giving to others comes much easier at this time as Pisces is known as the most compassionate of signs, and our desires turn to focus on meaningful and deep bonds. Neptune frequently brings about a desire to merge with others on a very deep level. Venus is operating at its highest octave in this sign.

You may feel romantic thoughts and experience love at its fullest but we must also remember that since Pisces is co-ruled by Neptune, Venus in Pisces can also mean putting on rose colored glasses and failing to judge a situation for what it really is. Love can be grand, but we must also pay attention to warning signs that tell us the person we are interested in is not perfect or all in the relationship. This can be a fine line to walk; feeling the romance of Pisces and yet maintaining boundaries and a clear perspective. In other words, because Venus is in Pisces does not mean throwing caution to the wind. The desire to merge with others will be significant and complex but we must be careful just who and what we choose to merge with.

Venus changes signs entering Aries on March 21st. Venus in this sign will be a far different energy than Pisces. Aries rules the first house, or the self and Venus in this sign has the ability to be assertive in terms of desires, wishes, boundaries and what the individual wants. When Venus was in Pisces the energy was selfless, kind and focused on others, but this is not the case with Aries. To a degree Venus in this sign can be selfish or self absorbed, but on a deeper level it has to do with getting in touch with what we each want as individuals. In other words, to please others you must first understand what you personally want in a relationship. As Venus transits Aries we are likely to put our own desires and needs front and center for the time.

Boundaries with others will be more important as well. Over the next 24 days enforcing personal boundaries with others will be a priority. If you don’t want to do something, you will be much more inclined to deliver a firm NO thanks and mean it. Aries after all, does not let grass grow under their feet and sees no point in wasting time with things or people they have no interest in. This is not so much of a problem for those born under a Fire sign but the sensitive water signs may be more uncomfortable with this energy.

Aries love can be ardent, straight forward and sexy. Venus will remain in this sign until April 14th.

March’s new moon in Pisces

On a Pisces new moon the dream can awaken and we can be led to follow the magic of our heart. This month’s new moon falls in the last sign of the zodiac on March 13th, at 5:21 EST.

With a Moon in Pisces some things can end, or you may have projects or events you are wrapping up. Water may be prominent in your live at this time whether a trip to the ocean, lake, or involved in a water related weather event. This moon has great sensitivity and perception is heightened. It is possible you could experience feelings of insecurity or confusion and if this is the case it may simply be a period not to take action. Creativity, art and compassion will be greatly enhanced as well dreams. Engaging in compassionate ventures, any type of creativity or spiritual search is the highest and best use of this energy.

This moon sextiles Pluto giving us great emotional depth and the ability to communicate on a deeper level with others or within groups. Venus is conjunct Neptune which can be a double edged sword. This aspect can be magical, mysterious and creative. Love can be grand at this time, or you could be deceived. If you meet someone new don’t take anything for granted and this is not a positive aspect for financial matters. Pisces likes to transcend beyond the day to day world so this moon can be a beautiful time to connect with others, and reach for the sky but keep your feet on the ground.

In the collective, the New moon will play out as well. Pisces can be especially deceptive and manipulative. Sorting through actual facts will be a necessity.

The full moon in Libra March 28th

Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, beauty and values so this full moon is all about relationships and love. Libra rules the 7th house of partnerships so the focus is on relationships of all types. You may feel drawn to create more harmonious circumstances as Libra does not like fights, arguments or the disruption of the peace.

The full moon makes a number of aspects. The Sun opposes the Moon as it does on every full moon putting the focus on we versus me, and whether your emotional needs are being fulfilled.

This moon opposes Venus which can be a laid back and relaxed type of energy, but if there are tensions between you and your significant other, this could bring them out to be resolved. The moon sextiles Saturn bringing a stable energy that can help level out any stressful feelings and is positive for getting things done. The Sun is conjunct Venus which is a light, positive, uplifting and social type of energy. For most, this full moon will bring out a desire to socialize or be with loved ones. Mercury is approaching its conjunction to Neptune, which is not exact until March 29th, but this energy will be powerful between now and then. Mercury-Neptune transits can be confusing and clarity in many matters may be lacking. Remember that Neptune is the planet of illusion, delusion and confusion as well as lies and disinformation. At times information can be uncovered with a transit like this in both our personal lives, and on the world stage. As Pisces rules water, in particular the ocean, we could see water related weather events.

Other days of interest in March

March 3rd, Venus sextiles Uranus. This can be an unusual and exciting day that can bring business, social and romantic opportunities. It is favorable for business and creative projects.

March 4th Mercury conjuncts Jupiter which positive and upbeat and will help in all types of communications. This transit occurred on Valentine’s Day but Mercury was retrograde. Now we have a chance to make use of this hopeful and fair minded energy without the retrograde.

March 10th the Sun conjuncts Neptune creating an unfocused if not confused energy throughout the day. This is not the day to make important decisions, especially relating to finances. The day may seem tiring if not discouraging to some. Your intuition may seem on spot and dreams could be vivid.

March 18th, the Venus sextiles Pluto and we could have insights into regenerating relationships. Positive for love and business.

March 20th, Happy New Year to all who love astrology as the Sun begins its trip anew through the zodiac for the next 365 days. Here is to the 2021 astrological New Year and the hopes we have for it!

March 21, Mercury sextiles Uranus. This is a positive mental influence prone to brilliant ideas and discoveries.

March 21st, Mars trines Saturn. This can give you the drive and fortitude to accomplish many tasks. Energy should run smoothly and consistently.

March 23, Mercury squares Mars. This is one of the more stressful aspects this month and prone to arguments, disagreements and accidents. Use care in traveling and communication.

March 30, Venus sextiles Saturn. This is a positive influence for business and friendships, especially those from the  past and your most loyal inner circle.

Venus enters the sign of inspiration!

Venus enters Pisces February 25th changing love energies once again. If Venus in Aquarius has seemed somewhat aloof, Venus in Pisces will be quite different as Pisces is one of the most romantic of signs. The planet of love, money and values will remain in this sign until March 20th.

Venus is ‘exalted’ in astrological terms meaning it is well placed in Pisces which is gentle, perceptive, artistic and emotional creating a great ambiance for love.

Now is the time to feel romantic thoughts and experience love at its fullest but we must also remember that since Pisces is co-ruled by Neptune, Venus in Pisces can also mean putting on rose colored glasses and failing to judge a situation for what it really is.

In the collective Pisces rules theatre, music, art and compassion and with Venus in this sign we often see or hear about new movies or art. We will be able to see compassion play out in the world at different times over the next month. Pisces/ Neptune can also relate to religion and when planets enter this sign we frequently hear some type of news about the Vatican or other religious orginizations.

Venus makes several aspects in March

March 3rd, Venus sextiles Uranus. This is a great time for any social activity and you may try something different on this day. Love and connections with others should be positive, upbeat and somewhat exciting. A great transit for a first date.

March 13th, Venus conjuncts Neptune. This can be a magical day for love and romance or it can also be a day fraught with confusion and misunderstandings. Neptune can make love (or money) matters unclear, confusing and misunderstandings can occur. Alternatively it can seem as though things are perfect but don’t underestimate Neptune’s ability to confuse or deceive. Keep a calm and objective viewpoint.

March 18th, Venus sextiles Pluto. This can give great power to the expression of love feelings and communication and can deepen a bond by talking things through.

Full moon in Virgo: Just the facts please!

This month’s full moon reaches its peak in the early morning hours of February 27th, and this is called the ‘snow moon’ due to the heavy snow that typically falls in February.

Virgo is an earth sign that rules the 6th house of health and work in astrology. Virgo’s ruling planet is Mercury which is connected to speech, thinking and the mind as well as travel. As Mercury will have been direct for about a week, now is a good time to think about a diet or exercise program if you are inclined in this direction. After all, spring is barely 3 weeks away!

Sometimes with a moon in Virgo health concerns can arise so if this is the case, see a Dr. and take care of any concern or issue you may experience. This moon does not however, mean you will have health problems, and it would not bring anything like this on that does not already exist, so there is no reason for unnecessary worry, and Virgo is prone to worry.

Virgo is known as a critical thinking sign, and is associated with clear thinking and especially detail.  This is the perfect Moon for planning, researching, or examining facts before reaching important decisions. Facts will become important and this moon may seem like a grounding influence which is a positive thing on the heels of the 1st powerful Uranus-Saturn square of the year.

Critical thinking is an asset but overly critical thinking or being critical of others is not, and this too is a Virgo tendency. This is something to be aware of as we approach this moon, and alternatively you could feel that others are too critical of you. Sometimes Virgo can get too caught up in the minutia and fail to see the bigger picture so bear this in mind.

As with any full moon this one can bring things to the surface that have been overlooked or not realized. If this is the case Virgo can give us the tenacity and mental depth to make important decisions once we have the facts.

The Sun opposes the Moon as it does on every full moon as well as Venus. At times Moon-Venus oppositions can indicate hypersensitivity in love, but this aspect can also relate to a laid back and easy going type of energy. Sun-Moon oppositions can bring your family and most intimate relationships to the forefront and create opposing pressures but this does not always have to be the case.

As Saturn is still square Uranus we could see some unexpected and unpredictable events, particularly in the US. This powerful Saturn-Uranus energy will be with us most of the year. In the US, the Moon squares Uranus (in the US chart) creating unexpected situations, news and an excitable public. Uranus is involved with electricity, technology, the internet and computers, hacking, explosions and extreme weather situations.

This Moon trines Uranus which is a harmonious and upbeat aspect. Moon-Uranus transits can bring about unexpected events, but in this case it would be a harmonious event. This aspect can give us self awareness, a desire for freedom, creativity, and a new way of looking at old problems. Change can flow more smoothly without the chaos that often accompanies it. This can make this moon ideal for making changes, breaking bad habits or leaving unhealthy relationships. It is also possible a chance encounter could occur.

Mars is trine Pluto in Capricorn which can bring about intensified energies, willpower and constructive accomplishment. We may have a desire for the finer things in life especially our connections with others which we may find especially rewarding at this time.

The energy of this moon will last two weeks or until March 13th when the New Moon in Pisces occurs.

Aquarius New Moon!

This month’s New Moon falls in the sign Aquarius, and this is the second New Moon of the year.  Aquarius rules the 11th house of friends, groups and the collective, so at this time it is likely we will be connected in some way to others. The planetary rulers of the sign Aquarius are Saturn and Uranus. Anytime Uranus is involved we seek new ideas, new thoughts and new ways of doing things. As Uranus is the planet that rules unexpected events it is best to remain flexible as this planet is connected with unexpected twists and turns.

The moon at this time is part of (a stellium) or six planets in Aquarius; Saturn, Jupiter, the Sun, Mercury and Venus, and there is no point in denying the powerful Aquarius energy we are all under this month. Aquarius is known as the Great Awakener, so this is no time to be asleep at the wheel. This powerful energy can awaken you to new thoughts, ideals and plans. You could have a sudden idea that could be brilliant. If so, write it down as ideas disappear as quickly as they come with Uranus energy.

This is the time to embrace all of humanity as in the end we are all in the same boat, and this is the nature of Aquarius. In addition to being unpredictable, Uranus is strongly connected with innovation as well as the future, so now is the time to release any dark shadows tucked away in your subconscious mind connected to the past and more forward into what lies ahead. In other words, the future lies ahead and the future is now.

Aquarius has a strong need for emotional freedom. Feelings like jealousy and possessiveness do not resonate well with Aquarius and can be a real turn off to others or to you could encounter this yourself and it would probably not go over well. Aquarius does not relate as well in one on one situations and does better with groups of people. It’s not that Aquarius can’t have deep feelings, but friendship, the ability to be impartial and analyze all sides of a question or problem is at the core of Aquarius energy as is personal freedom.

Aquarius sometimes has a no holds barred nature and you or someone else you know may act as a rebel or you could even break away from something that has long held you back. In some cases this could include relationships, but only if they are tottering on the edge already. If so, this could be the final push. In addition, we are a mere 6 days away from the powerful Saturn-Uranus square that will shake us all up in some way and play out on the world stage as well. Change is already occurring for many and this Moon could push us forward in new directions.

Venus is conjunct Jupiter and this is a positive time for any type of social activity, business deal, presentations or anything involving others. This is typically a positive transit for love, but love can take on a more impersonal tone and friendship with your loved one will be very important at this time, perhaps more than deeply romantic feelings.

With the moons square to Mars we could be very busy on this day, and for some it could play out as anger or upset. But, with the beautiful Venus-Jupiter conjunction we have some very positive energy to go on!  It’s time to dream some new dreams and boldly move forward as we are in the new era of that will encompass brilliance as well as upheaval and change.

Saturn squares Uranus: Brilliance, turbulence and change!

Saturn squares Uranus for the first of three times this year and the first pass of this powerful transit is exact on February 17th.

Saturn square Uranus is one of the 10 major aspects that bring about broad and unexpected change on the world stage and often our own lives. A square between two planets represents change, but it is often not easy. Unprecedented changes are already occurring across the world as a result of this transit. For example, there is major unrest in Russia, Hong Kong, and the impeachment trial in the US Senate to name only a few current issues.

We last experienced this transit in 2000. At that time Saturn was in the sign of Taurus and Uranus was in Aquarius, just the opposite of what we have today with Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus.

Saturn in astrology rules our structures and Uranus is the planet of sudden and unpredictable events. The Saturn archetype represents true reality and is associated with security, restrictions, the law, organization, control and government. It represents the State and its legal system and all conservative bodies. It also represents authority, tradition and time.

The Uranus archetype represents the need for change and freedom, originality and independence to go about things differently. It stimulates innovation, brilliance and genius. It is associated with coups, earthquakes, aircraft and spacecraft and is considered disruptive in a hard aspect, which it is.

When Saturn and Uranus clash it becomes an inevitable collision between the new and the old and change or disruption becomes unavoidable. The dates listed below represent the peak periods of this aspect. We can expect to see the energies playing out in the days and weeks before the peak occurs, as well as afterward.

Saturn makes three squares to Uranus this year:

-February 17th     -June 15th     -December 24th

What happens when Saturn squares Uranus

When these two planets clash, the results are hard to predict with Uranus in the picture, and Saturn is often associated with fear and negativity. Some fears should be acknowledged. For example if a volatile storm is approaching your area it is time to lock down or get out. Some fears need attention, but at other times we can dwell on useless fears that are a manifestation of our inner conversations with ourselves, past experiences and general negativity. During these times it is more important than ever to check the facts and make sure you are not being misled by fear mongers and those whose purpose is to create disharmony. With an aspect like this stress and anxiety can take over and the most important thing to do during this time is to stay grounded and be flexible.

Saturn-Uranus and the world stage

Saturn-Uranus transits are associated financial downturns, and we are currently in a Covid recession. This ttransit is connected to tyranny, right wing extremism, protests, revolutions and civil unrest. It is possible we could see some type of disruption by groups the FBI has designated as domestic terror threats, or there could be other groups as well. Politics will play a major role in what happens at this time in the US with Saturn-Uranus.

We are also at risk this year of significant internet/computer hacks such as the one that occurred in December 2020, airplane crashes, weather and earth changes and unfortunately, violence and disruption as well as brilliance, brilliant ideas and cutting edge types of technology and inventions. As Uranus rules freedom there will be a global push for more social reform and freedom around the world. We could also see change in terms of the internet and rules or governance of it.

The influence of major aspects trickles down to us all

In our own lives we may experience personal changes as this transit peaks for the first time in February.  What exactly happens depends on where Aquarius and Taurus fall in your personal chart. Some of the manifestations of this transit may include: Job and work changes that happen suddenly, breakups of relationships that are not committed or stable, and desire for greater freedom from anything you find repressive. Changes in finances can occur, or losses. Now is the time to keep an eye on your money and investments. Sometimes issues and situations we have been putting up for years suddenly end. If this happens know that whatever ended has outlived its purpose and new experiences will shortly follow.

At times transits like this it can coincide with major projects and events coming together that we have been working on for some time. Either way, with Uranus in the picture there can be an unexpected element to what we experience at this time.

The Uranus-Saturn square of 1999-2020

The last time Saturn was in a square with Uranus was 1999- 2000. The aspects occurred in July and November of 1999 and May of 2020. If you are old enough to remember these times you may have an idea what to expect this time around.

During those years euro currency was established and the European Central Bank assumed its full powers, President Clinton was impeached acquitted by the Senate, the Roth IRA is introduced, the Kosovo war occurred, Bill Gates personal fortune exceeded 100 billion, the Columbine school massacre occurred, Dow Jones exceeded 11,000 for the first time and a major flood happened in Las Vegas, In 2000, the dot com industry collapsed, AOL purchased Time-Warner, Ealian Gonzales was returned to his parent in Cuba after being rescued by the Coast Guard, Microsoft released Windows 2000, the courts ruled Microsoft violated anti-trust laws and Vermont legalized same sex civil unions. George Bush was nominated for the Presidential race along with Al Gore, Bill Clinton became the first US President to visit Vietnam, the Supreme Court overturned the ruling by the Florida Supreme Court, ending the Presidential recount and effectively giving the state and the Presidency, to Texas Governor George W. Bush in 2000 after a retracted period. Do you remember Y2K? The computers were supposed to crash leaving us in darkness, and there were people who hoarded food for months in preparation of this. These are just a few of the incidents that occurred the last time Saturn squared Uranus.

We also experienced a Saturn-Uranus square 1929-1931, and this of course represents the Great Depression. Uranus was in Taurus at this time as it is today.

Changes may or may not be dramatic in our lives

As mentioned earlier this powerful transit affects us all as we all live on Earth. Those affected to the greater degree will have Fixed planets-Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius at 6-7, 12-14, or 10-11 degrees in their personal charts. If you are unsure how this affects you it is best to consult a reputable astrologer, or you could look it up on one of the free astrology sites online. You could also be affected to a greater degree if there is another hard aspect in your chart at this time.

Take charge of the energy

If this transit does aspect something in your chart you are probably already aware of impending change. The best way to handle this energy is to look toward positive changes in the future as opposed to the negative. For example, if you work in a job that you know is ending focus on a new opportunity. If a break up occurs in your personal life, the relationship has in all likelihood has outlived its purpose, at least for the time. Review the negative and the positive and focus on improving yourself or what you could do to find a more lasting and appropriate relationship in the future. In this way, we can make this transit less stressful. Focus your energy on something positive and productive that you want to change. In this way you can control your own personal direction to a far greater degree than if you don’t. Most of all, remember to stay grounded and keep your feet planted firmly in reality.
