Mercury re-enters Scorpio

Mercury enters Scorpio November 10th for the second time this year. Mercury began its tour through Scorpio October 14th-28th before it retrograded back into Libra. Mercury turned retrograde at 11 degrees of Scorpio on October 14th. As it re-enters Scorpio again we will pick up where we left off in October.

Each year Mercury retrogrades in a certain element, this year the element has been Water. The Water signs are Cancer, Pisces and Scorpio and they are known for their sensitivity and sentimentality. With Mercury in this sign you may feel more emotional and express this in your speech and communication with others. This should not present a problem for Water or Earth signs but can be more difficult for those born in Air and Fire signs as it may seem too emotional.

Mercury rules our communication and while in Scorpio we are typically searching, digging for truth and a little more suspicious in nature. This does not however, mean it is negative. Each sign has its purpose and Mercury in this sign will leave no stone unturned if we are looking for an answer. Our thinking and communication will be deep, and Scorpio is known as being relentless; in other words, we don’t give up easily.

Scorpio is ruled by Mars and Pluto. This means communication is more direct and forceful (Mars) as well as probing, inquisitive and prone to reading between the lines (Pluto).

During this time you can use Scorpio’s perceptive and calculating approach to concentrate and focus on what you want to direct your energy toward as Scorpio is very focused. Mercury in Scorpio is frank to the point of being blunt, at times too blunt. During this period we tend to churn ideas around quite a bit before reaching a final conclusion. As Scorpio is a fixed sign, decisions made at this time are often irreversible. Mercury-Scorpio is passionate in speech and communication but we must be careful about lecturing others. Others will be equally passionate, and quite a few secrets will be exchanged at this time. Our judgment will be at its best when it is not personal. If this happens the emotional side of Scorpio may take over and we could lose objectivity.

Mercury-Scorpio can be naturally suspicious and loves to seek out hidden motives and intrigues, sometimes where there are none. Watch this possibility and you should communicate succinctly with others.

November 17, Mercury will oppose Uranus for the third time. This occurred October 7th and 19th before and after Mercury turned retrograde. Mercury-Uranus can be nerve-wracking, anxiety prone, or it can be exciting, provoking a feeling of freedom or a desire to break free of something.  Typically this transit relates to sudden, if not unexpected news. Use caution while driving on this day as it can be accident prone. Expect significant events to play out in the world as this transit completes. Mercury in Scorpio opposing Uranus in Taurus brought about a significant stock market drop on October 1th, as Scorpio-Taurus rules the 2nd-8th house axis concerning money and investment. October 19, we received news there were more than 40 million corona virus cases around the world, and we reached a new high in terms of total numbers and deaths.

Full moon in Taurus: October surprise

The second full moon of this month falls on October 31, at 8 degrees in Taurus. When a second full moon occurs in any given month it is called a ‘blue moon,’ so this will be a Halloween blue moon.

This moon will be significant as it is conjunct Uranus, and opposes the Sun in Scorpio. Uranus is considered the planet of unexpected, often volatile and explosive events. This full moon will peak around 10: 49AM, EDT.

The full moon in Taurus relates to the 2nd/8th houses, or finances, money, takes, joint finances and debt. These issues may arise on a collective or individual level. At the time of this post the stock market has gone down 3 days in a row, so don’t be surprised if this full moon does not reveal a serious financial weakness, or deal with something connected to financial markets and/or money. Additionally, Saturn is conjunct Pluto in the US chart. This is dark, powerful energy and reveals a fight to the death mentality, and corruption. This transit lies in the US charts 2nd house of money-income. When the stock market went down this spring more than 1000 points this was a contributing factor.

The Sun in Scorpio opposes the Moon as it does every full moon. This is different however; as we basically have 2 Uranus transits involving the Sun and the Moon. When the Sun also opposed Uranus last year P45 announced a military attack in Syria resulting in the death of the Islamic State leader. Uranus also rules the internet and technology, aircraft, coups and rebellions to name just a few.

The Moon conjuncts Black moon Lilith which represents a part of our subconscious that is linked to the ‘shadow’ part of our personality that is often repressed and hidden from plain view. Lilith is associated with raw, primal emotions that are often pushed away and not dealt with. When a planet aspects Lilith, we are often faced with dealing with repressed anger, fears and other issues so they can be resolved and we grow stronger. Use this time to get in touch with your ‘shadow’ emotions so they can be dealt with and released.

Mercury has begun its square to Saturn as well, which will not peak until November 6th. I have said for some time this appears to relate to authoritarian control over mail, voting, speech and movement. There is no doubt widespread attempts to slow down voting are going on in certain states. It is also indicative of serious if not negative news.

This full moon is not limited to issues concerning money, but no doubt this will play a role. Other things could occur as well, and it will have an affect on the November 3rd election as the energy is still powerful.

In our personal lives this moon can pay out as nerve-wracking or exciting depending on what it aspects in your personal chart. It is hard to know what a Uranus transit will bring as it is so unpredictable. For some, this may represent a time to break free of a job, relationship or something else as Uranus can shake us out of our rut. Uranus is associated with brilliance, so we could see cutting edge technology or have a new and exciting ideas. Your emotions could shift or you could make a sudden decision about something.

Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of women, beauty, money and values. All of this will somehow factor into this moon which falls on Halloween this year. Energy typically responds better when it is directed toward something. Get togethers  on Zoom or small parties (if possible) could be fun and exciting. Happy Halloween!

The powerful astrology of November 2020

During November Mercury and Mars turn direct (at last). We will be dealing with a powerful full moon that will bring unexpected events as well as an eclipse at month’s end. Election Day presents some powerful and unusual transits. Jupiter conjuncts Pluto, Neptune turns direct and the planet of communication will re-enter Scorpio and the Scorpio season begins! By month’s end we will be in a far different place and as Mercury and Mars are direct we will start to move forward once again.

The powerful and unpredictable full moon in Taurus of October 31st

November 1, less than 24 hours have passed since the peak of the most powerful full moon of the year. The energies of this moon will last until the new moon November 16th, and will certainly affect the outcome of the US election.

The full moon in Taurus was conjunct Uranus as well as Black Moon Lilith.  Uranus brings about sudden, shocking if not explosive news and it will certainly affect the outcome of the US election November 3rd. The Sun also opposed Uranus October 31st, adding to the energy of sudden, unexpected and shocking news just as it did in 2019 when P45 announced a military attack in Syria resulting in the death of the Islamic State leader.

Black moon Lilith represents a part of our subconscious that is linked to the ‘shadow’ part of our personality that is often repressed and hidden from plain view.

The full moon falls on the 2nd-8th house axis which in astrology relates to money and finance. The 2nd house rules ‘our’ money and the 8th house rules ‘their’ money or money that belongs to someone else.  It is possible we will hear news connected to the stock market or some other financial issue or situation. As Taurus is ruled by Venus we will be hear of or be involved with issues concerning women and our personal values both individually and collectively.

Mercury turns direct!

November 3rd Mercury turns direct at 25 degrees of Libra. Mercury is most significant at the start of its retrograde and at the end when it stations to turn direct. The last time we had a significant Mercury aspect on Election Day was in 2000 when it turned retrograde. Do you remember the hanging chads?

Additionally, during the first week of November Mercury is slowing down to turn direct, which puts it in a clash with Saturn, the planet of authority, delays and restrictions. This transit will be exact on November 6th which looks like a significant day. With Mercury square Saturn there is potential for delays in terms of election results and other situations as well as control or attempted control in matters of communication, movement and thinking. Mercury rules ass communication as well as Postal services. In the US natal chart Mercury squares Mercury creating worrisome circumstances and on November 6th- 7th it squares Pluto in the US chart. Situations are often revealed for what they really are with this transit. Throughout the entire month of November, Saturn conjuncts Pluto in the US natal chart that shows the path and destiny of our nation.  Saturn/Pluto deals with power, the abuse of power, crime and control. It is a heavy and dark transit that could also affect the financial markets. Once this transit passes we will not experience Saturn conjunct Pluto in the US chart for another 30 years.

November 9th, Venus opposes Mars (retrograde). This transit brings conflicts between the sexes. Venus rules women, and Mars rules men. A certain sexual attraction can be indicated with this but it does not imply compatibility. This too, will be a significant news day and we will likely hear news concerning P45.

Jupiter conjuncts Pluto for the 3rd time

The first half of November Jupiter is moving toward its final conjunction with Pluto which is exact November 12th. Jupiter-Pluto relates to the expansion of power and it is not good news concerning Covid as November will bring another peak. Jupiter expands whatever it touches, good or bad, and Pluto rules death, transformation and power. Jupiter was conjunct Pluto in Cancer in 1918 during the Spanish flu and WW1. Jupiter-Pluto is also connected to extremism and terrorism. We have certainly seen our share of extremism this year and unfortunately this transit will bring about more of the same and we may hear revealing news concerning money and abuse of power. On the positive side this could bring constructive efforts toward moral self improvement, spiritual insights and a desire to put religious or philosophic ideas into constructive action.

Saturn’s last dance with Jupiter and Pluto

November will be the last full month that Pluto, Saturn and Jupiter are all together in Capricorn and this will not occur again in our lifetimes. Capricorn is the sign of building, business and priorities and this has been both a historic and difficult year. Pluto’s conjunction with Saturn in early January saw the beginning of Covid as it began to spread across the world. It’s conjunction with Pluto expanded Covid and has brought about many situations dealing with the abuse of power and extremism. We saw a Presidential impeachment this year, and P45 has the lowest approval rating of our lifetime according to Gallup Poll. The country has been and remains deeply divided over many important issues. This has caused the loss of life and the loss of jobs, yet many lessons have been learned. There is a karmic association with Pluto and Saturn and there are those who believe these situations have occurred to shed light on the things that are most important to us as a nation and a world. Either way, December 17th, Saturn leaves Capricorn for Aquarius followed by Jupiter on December 19th.

Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius

Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius will bring about a far different world than what we have been dealing with as of late. It will of course, be far from perfect but Aquarius rules the 11th house of the collective. In other words, the collective will make their voices heard and we will all be concerned with finding our own place within society. Next month’s blog will be about this major change and what we can expect in 2021. Saturn was last in Aquarius February of 1991-January of 1994. Jupiter last transited through Aquarius January 2009-January 2010. Aquarius is the sign ruled by both Uranus and Saturn. Uranus rules cutting edge technologies, computers, aircraft and new ideas and concepts. Saturn in Aquarius rules structure, change and unexpected change as well as Democrats and the Democratic Party!

Mars turns direct

Mars has been retrograde in Aries since September 9th. Mars in this sign is very powerful and many things have been delayed and revealed since the retrograde began. Aries rules the 1st house or the self, and many groups and individuals have been focused on self interests. Retrograde Mars has been responsible for many arguments, suppressed anger and accidents.  It is a weak position for the planet of war and action and it will finally turn direct on November 14th.  As Mars rules our action, many things have been delayed and will begin to move forward again after Mars turns direct. Mars will remain in Aries however pushing self interests until January 6th, when it finally moves into Taurus. It is worth noting Mars is retrograde on Election Day. In the worst case scenario something will be drug out until Mars turns direct.

Mercury enters Scorpio

November 10, Mercury re-enters Scorpio for the 2nd time having turned direct again November 3rd. Mercury entered Scorpio September 27th, and re-entered Libra during its retrograde. Mercury rules our communication and in Scorpio is searching, digging for truth and is suspicious in nature. This does not however, mean all is negative. Each sign has its purpose and Mercury in this sign will leave no stone unturned. Our thinking and communication will be deep, and we will pick up where we left off in September.

New Moon in Scorpio

November’s New moon falls at 23 degrees of Scorpio on November 15. Scorpio rules the 8th house in astrology or the part of the chart that connects with deep transformation, other people’s money and sex. This moon makes positive aspects with Jupiter and Pluto increasing our abilities to connect with others on more meaningful levels. Venus squares Pluto however, and this can bring up obsessions and obsessive behavior, relationship issues and deep seated fears and anxieties. The most positive use of this energy is working through any fears and anxieties with the moons positive aspects we will have the ability to transform many things. It won’t be easy, but the energy is there!

November 17th, Mercury opposes Uranus for the 3rd and final time. We can expect changeability on this day as Uranus is the planet of sudden and unexpected change, or in this case communication. This occurred earlier on October 7th and 19th. If you were affected on these days you likely will be again. In addition to unexpected news this can create nervousness, anxiety or restlessness. Watch your driving today as this transit is accident prone and be careful to check your emails before you hit send! Financial/money issues could be affected.

November 19, Venus squares Saturn. This can seem like a dour if not solemn transit that will last the day. Venus rules money, women and values and we will hear news that fits the transit. This would not be a great date night unless you know the person well. At worst you could feel, lonely, sad or isolated. If this is the case, know this energy will pass within 24 hours.

Venus enters Scorpio

November 21st, Venus enters Scorpio where it will remain until mid-November. This will be a positive switch for Scorpio as well as all Water signs. Venus in Libra has been 'lighter,' and Libra generally seeks 'balance and harmony’. As Venus switches to Scorpio our love nature becomes more intense, and can be considered obsessive' in nature at times. Love is a serious matter with Venus in Scorpio.

Venus in Scorpio can be considered 'needier’ and is at its detriment in this sign which means the energy can be harder to work with.  It is a matter of love styles more than anything else but during the time Venus is in Scorpio individuals can attract others with their intensity and often a willingness to make commitments. Feelings run deep, but at times we could see displays of jealousy or a desire to dominate.

The Sun enters Sagittarius

November 21st, the Sun leaves Scorpio and enters freedom loving Sagittarius. Wherever the Sun goes the spotlight shines and we all have Sagittarius somewhere in our personal chart. Sagittarius energy will be lighter and more upbeat than Scorpio and our thoughts will turn toward travel if this is at all possible with Covid, education, or our personal world views. Sagittarius can be philosophic in nature, positive and many start to look forward to and prepare for the holidays during this time of year.

Neptune turns direct

November 28, Neptune turns direct. Neptune retrogrades every year and has been in its yearly retrograde since June 25th. Neptune rules religion, psychics, creativity and the arts, and our subconscious thoughts or what lies in our subconscious mind. It is also the planet associated with illusion, confusion and delusion, addictions, lies and deception, self-deception, and the seamy side of life

As this powerful planet turns direct, confusion may turn into clarity within a short period of time.  Neptunian events have a tendency to appear as surprising, but in actuality the basis of Neptune related events was generally there all along, just hidden in a fog of confusion, lies or lack of clarity.  Such events tend to creep up on you and seem surprising at first, but the basis of the event was generally there, just obscured from recognition.

Revelations/events may occur for some individuals with Neptune in hard aspect in their natal charts.  If Neptune is good aspect to any of your planets it can seem a pleasant experience. If it is in hard aspect in your chart, revelations and disappointments may occur.  Others may barely notice if Neptune is not aspecting their charts.

Spiritual and creative issues are internalized when Neptune is retrograde. Now that it is direct it will be easier to present artistic and creative ventures to the outside world.

A lunar eclipse in Gemini

The month will end with a powerful lunar eclipse at 8 degrees of Gemini on November 30th.The peak of this Penumbral eclipse occurs at 4:30 AM, EST. The Moon is in Mercury ruled Gemini and there will be a focus on communication and information of all types. This is a full moon which holds the promise of completion of what was started two weeks earlier on the New moon. A lunar eclipse full moon is like a full moon on steroids and stimulates turning points, revelations, surprises, and epiphanies and gives us a cosmic push, often in new directions. Decisions can be emotionally driven and sometimes things, even people, are eclipsed into or out of our lives. An eclipse is like a guidepost lighting the way, and showing us where our focus will be over the next few months. This moon makes no harsh aspects although Venus is still in orb of its opposition to Uranus a few days earlier. This can bring surprises in love (or money) and can create an exciting atmosphere for doing or trying something different. The eclipse will carry on the karmic story we have been playing out since May with the North and South Nodes of destiny in Gemini-Sagittarius. Gemini-Sagittarius deals with the 3rd-9th house axis of communication, reason and logic, versus the 9th house of philosophic ideals, education and expansion, or over-expansion. Venus was retrograde in Gemini May 13-June 6th of this year, and we may contemplate memories of this time as we sit under the bright light of this beautiful full moon.

In search of Love and Justice; New moon in Libra

The Libra new moon falls on October 16, and is in harsh aspect to three of the most challenging and difficult planets; Mars (retrograde), Saturn and Pluto. It also squares Jupiter, the planet of gain and expansion which can blow things out of proportion and amplify emotions. This is a new moon that will require us to deal with the harsh realities of the times we are living through and will represent a somber end of the work week.

Warrior planet Mars has entered its second square to Jupiter which is exact October 19th and becomes part of the new moon energy. Mars-Jupiter aspects tend to exaggerate for better or worse. This combination is frequently associated with the law, lawyers and justice. A serious fight to the death power struggle with themes of control and authority is in the making at the time of this new moon.

Jupiter rules the judiciary, and is also associated with medicine and Dr.’s as well. Mars squared Jupiter August 4th, and at this time we were witnessing a bitter struggle in Congress over Covid relief with no outcome. We also saw Hurricane Isaias make landfall in North Carolina. We could witness similar situations again, and as Jupiter expands whatever it touches its square to Mars and conjunction with Pluto will increase the number of Covid cases we are dealing with during the next month.

This energy can play out in the form of struggles in your most intimate relationships and partnerships, and some relationships may end at this time. Alternatively, with a great deal of work and understanding it may be possible to rise above the issues and facilitate regeneration and change for the better.

The sign Libra represents justice, the law and courts, and the symbol connected with it is the scales of justice. Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, money, women and societal values all of which will come into question over the next few weeks.

This will make for a contentious week with Senate hearings for Judge Amy Barrett who has been nominated to the Supreme Court. The Moon, ruler of women, opposes Mars (anger), and squares Pluto (power struggles) and Saturn (government). We can expect to hear a great many angry voices this week, especially from women and those concerning women’s issues as well as our collective values. Pluto has to do with power and the abuse of power and authority so this aspect can turn into a ruthless desire on the part of certain people to push this nominee through regardless of the consequences, and without giving thought to the wishes of the majority. This drive for power can lead to conflict, extremism (Pluto) and violence (Mars) as well as greater polarization.

The new moon square Saturn can present tests, delays and obstacles that must be overcome to succeed.  Exhaustion and a negative approach to things could cause your projects to fail. If you turn the energy around and focus on hard work and determination to succeed, allowing for patience you have a better chance at accomplishing what you want.

The moon opposing Mars can aggravate and create a desire to fight. A more subtle as opposed to aggressive approach may work wonders.

Lastly, Moon square Pluto can lead to new information being uncovered, issues with women, obsessiveness and over-thinking. A desire to be in control may also cause problems, or problems could occur with authority figures. On the positive side, you could feel empowered, at best.

With Mercury in its stationary retrograde period events connected to this new moon may be delayed by a few days.

During this new moon period we may all feel pressured and some will feel lonely. Things will pan out better if we make a larger effort to get along with others. The more positive outcome of this moon is to try and fortify relationships with others and focus on achieving what Libra is known for; peace and balance. It may be more difficult at this time than others but the results will be worth it.

Mercury opposes Uranus; The plot changes

We are in the midst of an angry Cardinal square between Mars, Saturn and Pluto and nowhere was this more evident than Tuesday nights Presidential debate . This harsh energy remains with us until Mars completes its square with Pluto which will peak October 9th.

In the midst of this tumultuous energy however, another opposition is forming as well since Mercury entered Scorpio.

Mercury in Scorpio is secretive, probing and frequently deals with subject that are considered taboo. It can deal with betrayal, manipulation, sex and money.

Mercury has begun its opposition to Uranus and will peak on October 7th.  Uranus in Taurus deals with shocks, shocking change and money. We could see a significant stock market shift or some type of change relating to finances/money or financial markets. Mercury deals with communication, speeches, the written word and the like.

On a personal level we could get unexpected news or have an abrupt change of mind about something. Change may seem to come out of the blue. Uranus can also relate to genius, ideas can be connected to something that has a cutting edge and unique quality. If this happens to you make sure and write it down as the idea can leave as quickly as it comes.

On the world stage Uranus transits are typically explosive or eruptive and deal with unexpected events. Mercury rules speeches, the media and words. Words will definitely matter on this day.

Pay attention to this day as the 2nd full moon on October 31, will also conjunct Uranus in Taurus and October 7th may give us a clue what kind of energy can expect then.

October's powerful full moon in Aries!

We have been dealing with a great deal of Mars energy with its retrograde and frustrating clashes with Saturn and Pluto since August. Mars is the planet of action, men, war, anger and police and the full moon in Aries this month is ruled by warrior planet Mars as well. This full moon is called the ‘Harvest moon,’ since in the days preceding it there is an abundance of moonlight in the early evenings which was once critical to farmers gathering in the year’s harvest.

The full moon will bring much of this volatile energy to a head with the lunar peak occurring October 1, at 6:05 PM, EDT at 9 degrees of Aries. This will be a fiery full moon that could turn volatile on this day or in the days before and after. This Moon conjuncts Chiron, known as the ‘wounded healer,’ and may bring to the forefront all types of emotional hurts and issues for us to deal with in our personal lives and in the collective. The energies of this full moon will last until the New Moon in Libra falling on October 16th. This New Moon falls in the opposite sign of Aries and will be more concerned with compromise and justice.

Aries rules the first house of the zodiac, or ourselves. In many respects we will be focused on our own personal desires and issues and during this time competing groups and individuals will be vying for what that want and hope to accomplish and selfishness and extremes may rise to the top. As Aries sits across from the 7th house or the segment of the zodiac that rules marriage and partnerships, issues and conflicts in relationships may well crop up or relationships could come back together in some way. A new relationship begun on a retrograde Mars may be lacking in direction, or this could play out after Mars turns direct in November. Libra/Aries is also associated with war and peace, along with courts and the judiciary as we see currently playing out with the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett as a SCOTUS nominee.

Mars completes its powerful clash with Saturn on September 29th but this energy is still with us for the next few days as Mars approaches another clash with Pluto. The textbook definition of Mars-Saturn is frustration but we will also be dealing with anger issues, stress and emotions that can turn into seething irritation at a moment’s notice.

Used constructively a great deal can be accomplished at this time due to Mars but it important to be aware of the pitfalls and limitations of these transits.  This full moon will affect those born under Aries-Libra, Cancer and Capricorn to a greater extent than others.

In the US chart, this full moon falls in the 4th house which rules the population. Its opposition to Saturn shows great unhappiness and discontent in the country and its square to the US Sun shows us there are many who do not like the direction of the US President, his agenda and the recent revelation he has paid little to no Federal income tax in the past decade. Saturn rules institutions such as the Supreme Court and other conservative bodies. Saturn is opposing the US chart’s Mercury bringing bitter and harsh speech and communication all month along with anger and debate. Issues could arise concerning finances as well as speeches and communication. While we have recently lost legal icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg this transit could indicate more death, including that from Covid which will be on the increase during October.

October 2020 Astrology!

                                             October 2020 Astrology and transits

During October we have two unusually powerful full moons, Venus enters Virgo, Mars continues it’s retrograde in warrior sign Aries, Jupiter sextiles Neptune for the final time, Mercury retrogrades, Pluto turns direct, and the Sun enters Scorpio. Now, for the details!

Mars is retrograde

This month we are dealing with a great deal of Mars energy. “The God of War’ as Mars is called is in its own sign, or Aries and is extremely powerful and volatile here, especially while retrograde. Retrograde planets bring hidden information to the forefront and frequently misbehave, bringing up anger, stress, and exhaustion. Mars retrograde can also be associated with accidents, carelessness and at this time we are more likely to experience some type of physical calamity than at other times. This is by no means inevitable however, just use extra care and caution concerning your health and physical well being.

In the collective, Mars creates anger and frustration and we will see issues concerning police and potential violence along with volatile and changeable political events in the last month before the election. The first 10 days of the month will be frustrating, angry and difficult as Mars completes its square to Saturn (September 29) and then Pluto (October 9). Even though these transits complete on October 9th, the energies will remain with us at least another week. We experienced these transits before Mars retrograde August 13-24.

Powerful full moon in Aries

October’s full moon will bring much of this Mars energy to a head and the lunar peak occurs October 1, at 6:05 PM, EDT at 9 degrees of Aries. This will be a fiery full moon that could turn volatile on this day or the day or two before and after. This Moon conjuncts Chiron, known as the ‘wounded healer,’ and may bring to the forefront all types of emotional hurts and issues for us to deal with in our personal lives and in the collective.

Aries rules the first house of the zodiac, or ourselves. During this time competing groups and individuals will be vying for what that want and hope to accomplish and selfishness may rise to the top. As Aries sits across from the 7th house or the segment of the zodiac that rules marriage and partnerships, issues and conflicts in relationships may well crop up or relationships could come back together in some way. A new relationship begun on a retrograde Mars may be lacking in direction, or this could play out after Mars turns direct. Libra/Aries is also associated with war and peace, along with courts and the judiciary.

Mars completed its powerful square to Saturn on September 29th but this energy is still with us for the next few days. The textbook definition of Mars-Saturn is frustration but we will also be dealing with anger issues, stress and emotions that can turn into seething irritation at a moment’s notice.

Used constructively a great deal can be accomplished at this time but it important to be aware of the pitfalls and limitations of these transits.  This full moon will affect those born under Aries-Libra, Cancer and Capricorn to a greater extent than others.

In the US chart, this full moon falls in the 4th house which rules the population. Its opposition to Saturn shows great unhappiness and discontent in the country and its square to the US Sun shows us there are many who do not like the direction of the US President and his agenda. Saturn rules institutions such as the Supreme Court and other conservative bodies. Saturn is opposing the US chart’s Mercury bringing bitter and harsh speech and communication all month along with anger and debate. Issues could arise concerning finances and young people as well as speeches and communication. While we have recently lost legal icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg this transit could indicate more death, including that from Covid which will be on the increase during October.

The planet of love transits two signs

Venus enters Virgo on September 2nd and will remain here until October 27, when it enters Libra.  Venus is considered at its fall in this sign meaning the energies of Venus and the sign Virgo do not really complement each other. Venus is a detailed and somewhat critical sign. We will all want more details, such as what does our partner REALLY feel about us. That said, Virgo works well for earth signs and can be a loving, protective and healing type of energy as well.

Venus will be in Libra the last 3 days of October and it will remain in this sign until November 21st. While Venus in Virgo is considered at its ‘fall’ Venus in Libra is ‘at home’ in this sign, one of its two planetary rulers. Venus in Libra is lighter, happier and more prone to compromise. Balance and harmony is what Libra seeks most of all and over the next month we will all work harder to find this in our relationships and our lives.

Pluto turns direct

Pluto is known as the ‘God of the underworld.’ October 4th, Pluto turns direct after a 5 month retrograde. When you experience a Pluto transit personally you can expect absolute change one way or another.

Pluto retrogrades every year and when it turns direct hidden agendas can be exposed, secrets can be revealed and significant events can take place in our lives and the world. At this juncture issues that have been buried or hidden will crop up. Lawsuits tend to be affected by the reversal of Pluto and new information often comes out.

Pluto is the planet that rules waste and our need to get rid of what is no longer functional and working in our personal lives and on the world stage. Political careers will rise and fall on this planetary reversal and what we see over the next month or so will give us an indication of what to expect over the next several years.

Jupiter sextiles Neptune

Jupiter makes one last positive sextile to Neptune before moving away from the planet of expansion and gain. We have experienced several passes of this important transit earlier this year in February and July. This energy becomes exact on October 12, but will be with us most of October, but it will be waning after October 12th.

This is creative, pleasant energy that can be directed toward any type of venture but especially those involving creative works, spirituality or compassion. You could feel more in tune with yourself or even intuitive at this time and dreams could be vivid. You could feel inspired to follow a dream or pursue a cause. There is a compassionate and spiritual nature to this energy and things may seem to flow easily which is something we could all use this month. In spite of the current energies we are dealing with, compassion and creativity will be seen in the world as well as our own lives.

The down side of this energy believing in things that are not true, laziness, self deception or believing everything you hear. The propaganda campaigns that are rampant at this time may get a boost from this energy and convince people of things that are simply made up for political or divisive purposes.

Pisces-Neptune rule contagious diseases and we will continue to see the spread of the corona virus, and this will be exacerbated with Mercury (retrograde) retrograde in Scorpio

Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in solid Capricorn can help us keep our footing at this time. There are great possibilities with this transit.

Mercury turns retrograde in Scorpio

Mercury is the planet ruling communication, travel and the way we think. When Mercury turns retrograde confusion can arise, things get delayed or forgotten, machinery breaks down, and many unexpected things can happen or change direction. Mercury turns retrograde in mysterious Scorpio October 13-November 3rd.

Mercury retrograde should be viewed from the perspective of what its purpose really is, which is to give us an opportunity to re-think, re-do and make changes to things we may be working on. We can make corrections that will lead to a better future result, even though Mercury’s retrograde can be maddening at times.

Scorpio is deep, so we will be digging deeply into how we feel about our lives, those we are intimately connected with and our own personal finances. Mercury is nicknamed ‘the trickster of the zodiac,’ and in Scorpio it could seem like communication is coded and overly secretive.

During this time you or others could be concerned with exposing the truth in some way as Scorpio is a detective and likes nothing better than to unearth new information. The green eyed monster may raise its ugly head in some cases, and we may all feel more suspicious than normal. If this is the case don’t over think to the point of paranoia and try and stay rooted in reality.

File your taxes before the retrograde!

This year tax day was pushed to July 15, due to Covid, and many extended the deadline to pay taxes until October 15th.  Since Mercury retrogrades on October 13, it would be better to file your taxes if you have not done this yet before the retrograde begins. If you file taxes after Mercury turns retrograde your chances of omitting something or making a mistake increases.

Mercury turns direct on election day

Yes, Mercury turns direct on Election Day at 12: 50 PM, EDT. We can expect a certain amount of confusion on this day along with the possibility that some voters will change their minds about who to vote for last minute. The last time we experienced retrograde Mercury on an election day was November 7, 2000.  Remember the ‘hanging chads’? This is far from ideal for an election, and we can add to the mix Mars retrograde as well. This increases our chances of issues with voting, delayed mail, propaganda and other unexpected events that could throw a wrench into things.

The next three weeks will be a time when many things may seem at a standstill, in particular our outward actions. We can still accomplish a great deal however on an inner or unseen level. We can polish and review our projects and plans for the future and make corrections that are needed.

Mercury will retrograde through two signs; Scorpio and Libra. Mercury will re-enter Libra October 27th where it will stay for the remainder of the retrograde. At this time our thoughts will shift toward our partnerships and most intimate relationships. Some relationships may end if they are tottering on the edge, but others can become stronger as this will be a period of talking through any issues that may be bothersome and resolving problems that have been undercover for a while. Now is the time to get to the bottom of any issues and reach a solution.

Retrograde Mercury is frequently associated with the past and those from the past. If there was ever a time to reconnect with an old flame it is during a retrograde Mercury in Libra. Others you may not wish to reconnect with like the pesky ex may reappear as well to give things one last attempt.

Mercury will re-enter Scorpio for the second time November 10th, where it will remain until December 1st.

October’s New Moon

The New Moon this month falls on October 16th, at 23 degrees of Libra. This is a new moon meant for love, harmony and relationships. With all the harshness we have experienced, most people can use a positive new moon!

Libra rules the 7th house of marriage and relationships so our focus will be on our most important connections. A new moon in Libra seeks balance, peace and harmony and the energies lend themselves more to compromise than arguing. Venus makes a pleasant trine to Saturn which is positive for relationships, our social lives and business. It can also connect us with those from our past.

The Sun enters Scorpio

October 22, the Sun enters the fixed sign of fall when weather shifts further toward colder winter weather, at least in the US and we are moving toward darker and shorter days. Scorpio is a detective, always digging for information and never shallow. With the election upon us it is very likely new information will be dug up and released concerning the candidates but whether or not the information is correct is another question.

Scorpio rules the 8th house of transformation and it is time for us to let go of what has outlived its purpose in our lives, in preparation for the new. Scorpio, the 8th house ruler can be associated with death, but also metaphorical death as well. In other words, it is time to take out the trash, deal with and release the clutter in your life and clear the decks. It takes courage to release what needs to be released and move forward, but this is something that Scorpio often excels at.

A volatile full moon in Taurus

In October we will experience a second full moon, which is known as a ‘blue moon,’ and this one falls on Halloween. A Halloween full moon has not appeared in all time zones since 1944, so this is a rare occurrence.

This Moon falls at 8 degrees 8 degrees of Taurus and is conjunct Uranus, opposing the Sun in Scorpio.  Taurus-Scorpio rules the 2nd/8th house axis of money, possessions, debt, taxes and other people’s money or change/regeneration. This transit will affect both candidates running for Presidential election.

Taurus is associated with money, the earth, food and farming, luxuries and earthly pleasures. The symbol for Taurus is the bull, and Taureans have a love of stability. The other side of Taurus is stubbornness and Taurus energies can work out in this manner. Decisions made at this time can have a lasting effect.

The moon’s conjunction to Uranus means that we are in an unpredictable few days where anything can happen. The more closely you are wedded to your day to day activities the more unsettling this can prove to be. This will be a day we could experience restlessness or even anxiety, and it is a good time to just ‘go with the flow.’

On the world stage we can expect unexpected events, volatile situations and unexpected change. Uranus rules explosions, aircraft, coups, rebellions, heart attacks, earthquakes and takeovers. This could manifest as an attempt at political control in some way.

Happy Halloween!

Other transits of significance in October:

October 7, Mercury opposes Uranus. This is a potentially explosive aspect that could bring some arguments to the forefront. Mercury-Uranus deals with unexpected communication, accidents and unexpected news. The other side of this transit can promote finding new solutions to old problems that can manifest as a day where thoughts and answers could have a genius quality to them.

October 9th, Mars squares Pluto for the 2nd time. This is angry energy where issues can rise to the surface and be revealed. As this comes within 5 days of Pluto’s direct station and one day before the full moon, it will be all that much more volatile in the world, in particular the political world. Any hidden agendas may be revealed at this time.

October 11, The Sun squares Jupiter. This is basically an optimistic transit that can give us a day of enthusiasm. Things could get blown out of proportion or over-promised.

October 13, the Sun opposes Mars. This can seem like a difficult day when people are looking for a fight. You could expect discordance in communications and egos.

October 15, the Sun squares Pluto. This transit is prone to power struggles and things can break down especially as Mercury is now retrograde. Sweep out the cobwebs and unfinished business in preparation of the New moon.

October 18, the Sun squares Saturn. This is a tiring, draining and negative type of energy. If you work hard, you could see accomplishment. Also on this day, Venus opposes Neptune. Look for unclear issues to arise in relationships and concerning finance. At worst this indicates lies and deception.

October 19, Mars squares Jupiter. This can be a transit of accomplishment and even a certain degree of luck may seem possible. Otherwise, it is prone to strong feelings and opinions and we could hear news of courts or the judiciary.

Also, Venus trines Jupiter. This is positive, even lucky and good for social engagements. Mercury also opposes Uranus for the 2nd time this month. This is indicative of unexpected news. If you were affected by this transit October 7th, you will likely be affected again.

October 21, Venus trines Pluto. This is positive for group activities and expressing your feelings which will be deeper at this time.

October 24th, Venus trines Saturn. Positive for any practical accomplishment or social or business activity. Saturn can relate to those from the past.

October 25, the Sun conjuncts Mercury. Ego’s can be in full display on this day and this can be a willful type of energy.

October 31st, the sun opposes Uranus. This is prone to sudden, if not explosive and unexpected circumstances. It is more powerful the day before the Full moon which will also conjunct Uranus.
